It’s about time we were honest: Indiana Jones was already just fine with three movies, and time will forget both Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny. Luckily, the expanded universe of the most famous archaeologist in history is bringing back some stories buried in video games, novels and, of course… Comics.
You chose… wisely
This December, Marvel is getting ready to release, at last, the continuation of Raiders of the Lost Ark, in Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium: five issues scripted by Jason Aaron, no less (who’s done some of the best recent Marvel comics) and drawn by Aaron Kuder, who also is also a Marvel regular.
In this case, Indy will have to go in search of a biblical weapon, putting his life and that of his friends on the line, trying to make it to the end with his trademark skepticism intact. Expect adventure, mythical enemies, action in spades and, best of all, John Williams’s original score playing in the background. What is Indiana Jones without humming “Dun dun dun duuuun dun-dun duuuun”?
If all goes well and sales hold up, this will be the start of a beautiful friendship between Lucasfilm, Indiana Jones, Disney and Marvel: in other words, yes, new Indiana Jones adventures set between those films are already being planned.
