No, the Duffer brothers and Netflix do not expect you to have all the time in the world to watch season 5 of Stranger Things. However, a false list that circulated on the internet at the end of last week claimed that all episodes of the highly anticipated fifth season of Stranger Things would be over two hours long. This information sparked a wave of speculation among fans, mostly fueled by a graphic that claimed to show the episode titles along with their respective runtimes, ranging from 2 hours and 5 minutes to 3 hours for the final episode.
No time to live
However, Ross Duffer, one of the creators of the series, quickly denied the authenticity of this list on his social media. “Lol, no way is it accurate,” Duffer wrote in his Instagram stories, accompanied by a screenshot of the fake list. Although Netflix has not officially announced the durations of the episodes, it has been confirmed that some will be long, with comments from the actors about the similarity to movies.
During an appearance on the podcast Podcrushed, actress Maya Hawke mentioned that season 5 will consist of “basically eight movies”, suggesting that the episodes will be considerably long. Her co-star, Finn Wolfhard, also commented that “there are definitely some episodes this year that have a full movie length”.
Adding more excitement to the anticipation, Netflix released the first trailer for season 5, hinting at an epic final battle between the protagonists and the feared villain Vecna. According to the official synopsis, the heroes will unite with a single goal: to find and eliminate Vecna before he strikes again. The fifth season of Stranger Things will be released in three parts, with the first episode available on November 26, followed by the second part on December 25 and the final episode on January 1, 2026.
