The series Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 has been renewed for a second season on Netflix, marking a significant milestone in its short but impactful journey. This renewal comes just a few months after its premiere, which took place on April 23 of this year.
How strange everything has become
Netflix’s quick decision to renew the series suggests a positive reception from both the audience and critics. This new chapter of the popular franchise Stranger Things has managed to capture the attention of fans, who have been eager to explore more of the mysterious and nostalgic world of Hawkins, Indiana, in a narrative set in the 1980s.
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 offers a refreshing approach by expanding the universe of the original series, introducing characters and plots that resonate with the aesthetic and spirit of horror and adventure films from that era. The first season has been praised for its ability to balance retro charm with intriguing stories, which could be a determining factor in its renewal.
Netflix has shown a continued commitment to its original programming, and Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 seems to be a valuable addition to its catalog. Although details about the plot or the release of the second season have not yet been revealed, fans can expect more revelations in the near future. Interestingly, it is rumored that this season could delve into the origins of some of the supernatural elements that have fascinated the audience since the beginning of the franchise.
In conclusion, the renewed life of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is a clear indication that Netflix seeks to continue expanding its universe of horror and science fiction, pleased by the enthusiastic response from the show’s fans.
We’re never going to get rid of Stranger Things, are we? After the series was a huge hit on Netflix and its fifth season had so much merchandising (mostly food-related) that it reminded us of releases from the 90s, when that kind of strategy still worked, the streamer is bringing the kids out of the drawer again for its new series, Tales from ’85. This animated spin-off is entertaining, yes, but it has caused more than one headache for fans because it introduces a new character, Nikki, who allows them to create new weapons… Without the seasons of […]
We are never going to get rid of Stranger Things, right? After the series was a huge hit on Netflix and its fifth season had so much merchandising (mostly food-related) that it reminded us of releases from the 90s, when that kind of maneuver still worked, the streamer is bringing the kids back for its new series, Tales from ’85. This animated spin-off is entertaining, yes, but it has caused more than one headache for fans because it introduces a new character, Nikki, who allows them to create new weapons… Without any mention of this new team member in the live-action series seasons.
And, in fact, it is not the only plot that Stranger Things has left behind… which could have resulted in a better series. Do you want to embark on a journey to the Hawkins that could have been and wasn’t?
Eleven was going to die
Yes, as it sounds: in the original plans for season 1 of the series, Eleven was going to sacrifice herself for the greater good, and that was going to be her true ending. However, what the Duffer brothers did not expect was that the series would become the success it was... largely thanks to the character played by Millie Bobby Brown. No matter how they turned it, the series did not work without her, so they had to bring her back in season 2. In hindsight, and seeing everything that has happened with her character, wouldn’t it have been much more epic to let her die to save her new friends?
Hopper’s Strange Alliances
Surely you remember Alexei, the Russian scientist who drank slushies in season 3 and became one of the best things about that batch of episodes (until, now, he died with no chance of bringing him back). The writing team liked him so much that they thought there was a way to pay homage to him in the next season: to have, purely by coincidence, his father end up in the Russian prison alongside Hopper and join his group. Of course, it required a gigantic leap of faith from the audience and really wouldn’t have added anything to the plot, but, honestly… we’ve seen worse things in the last season.
I Will Kill My Mother’s Boyfriend
Let’s set the scene. Season 2, Bob (played by Sean Astin) is Joyce’s new boyfriend and everything seems to be going well between them… until a Demodog catches him off guard and takes him out, allowing him to have one last scene with his girlfriend. However, in the writers’ room, this was not what was originally proposed: taking advantage of the fact that Will was possessed by the Mind Flayer, they thought it would be more than curious, for the character’s evolution, that he would be the one to end up killing Bob, causing him even more trauma. As if he didn’t have enough!
Eleven almost killed his mother
In season 1, we met Eleven’s mother, Terry, but what we didn’t know is that in a few episodes later, it was planned for Eleven to end her life as a favor, after realizing she was in a loop from which she could never escape. After all, since they can communicate telepathically, it wouldn’t have been that difficult for the girl’s powers to end the life of the one who gave her life. However, for whatever reason (it would completely blur the character by turning her into a killer of innocents), they decided to set this plot aside. Does it make sense? Undoubtedly. Would it have led to a better Stranger Things? Also. But sometimes, it’s better to leave things as they are.

No one better than her to adapt her novel
The story of ‘Nineteen Steps’ is set during World War II and tells the love story between a 19-year-old girl, Nellie Morris, and an American pilot, inspired by a true event that left 173 victims. Brown has conceived this project from her perspective as a writer.
The film will be directed by Tom Hooper, a renowned filmmaker who won the Oscar for ‘The King’s Speech’. His experience in historical dramas raises expectations around ‘Nineteen Steps’, making it one of the most anticipated productions not only of Brown’s career but also in the calendar of contemporary historical cinema.
In its early development phase, the film currently lacks a confirmed release date, as well as details about the shooting and the rest of the cast, which keeps the fans of the actress and the genre in suspense. As more information is revealed, it will be interesting to see how this project can redefine Brown’s image in the cinematic landscape.
Meanwhile, Brown is not stopping and is also working on the third installment of ‘Enola Holmes’, and on a romantic comedy titled ‘Just Picture It’. Undoubtedly, Millie Bobby Brown’s future in the entertainment world looks brighter than ever.

Not everything goes with AI
In the letter, Netflix made it clear that it will not tolerate its intellectual property being treated as public domain art. The company argues that ByteDance is using its characters and narrative elements without authorization, which represents a violation of its copyright and intellectual property rights.
Netflix’s action comes at a time when the entertainment and technology industry is facing a growing debate over intellectual property rights in the digital age. As artificial intelligence becomes a common tool in content generation, concerns arise about how existing works are used and what legal implications these practices could have for content creators.
For its part, Netflix has emphasized that it will not stand idly by while ByteDance treats our valuable intellectual property as if it were free clip art in the public domain. The resolution of this matter will be closely watched, as it could set a precedent in regulating the use of AI in the creation of content that involves copyrighted works.

Actress Mara Wilson, known for her role in the 1996 film Matilda, has expressed her deep concern about the misuse of deepfake technology, especially in relation to her own traumatic experience as a victim of child sexual abuse. In an opinion column published in The Guardian, Wilson warns that the lack of adequate safeguards could lead to a deepfake apocalypse, affecting today’s young actors, including the stars of Stranger Things.
Matilda could avoid it
Wilson highlights the harmful potential of this technology, which allows for the creation of false content in a surprisingly realistic way, and how it can be used to perpetuate stories of abuse and exploitation. “If measures are not implemented to prevent the misuse of these tools, emerging actors can become easy targets for dangerous manipulations“, he wrote.
The actress also emphasized the responsibility of the entertainment industry and technology platforms in creating and maintaining these safeguards. “We are at a critical point where we need to define clear ethical boundaries regarding the use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in content production“, Wilson stated.
Her concern aligns with the growing debate on the ethics and regulation of deepfake technologies, which have captured the attention of experts, journalists, and activists. With recent examples of their abuse in the entertainment industry, Wilson’s call resonates strongly, raising difficult questions about the future of digital representation and the protection of the most vulnerable. The actress concludes that only through collaboration between the industry, lawmakers, and society can effective measures be established to mitigate these risks.
