Hideo Kojima, the acclaimed video game creator, has revealed that he has several projects in development, among which stands out Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, scheduled for release on June 26 on PlayStation 5. This title, a sequel to his innovative 2019 game, promises to continue exploring themes of connection and isolation, hallmark features of Kojima’s narrative.
Death Stranding does not seem to be Kojima’s future
In addition to Death Stranding 2, Kojima is working on a horror title called OD and on Physint, an action-spy game reminiscent of his famous Metal Gear Solid franchise. The idea for Physint emerged during a personal health crisis for Kojima, who realized the public’s desire for a game in the style of Metal Gear. “I reflected and thought the idea was good,” he told Edge Magazine.
Both projects, Physint and OD, have faced delays due to the voice actors’ strike currently affecting the industry. Despite these setbacks, Kojima has indicated that Physint could take between five and six years to hit the market, which could lead it to a new generation of consoles. This ambitious game aims to provide a hybrid experience between video game and movie through the use of cutting-edge technology, although no details about the plot have been shared so far.
On the other hand, Kojima has mentioned that he does not plan to create Death Stranding 3. However, he has ideas for future video games and has assured that he has a USB full of proposals, in case something were to happen to him. With multiple projects on the horizon, fans’ curiosity about Kojima’s creative direction continues to grow.
