We know when Tokyo Revengers Season 2 will Premier: sooner than we expect!

Tokyo Revengers is back with a third season right after its second season this year, promising even more punching.

Tokyo Revengers doesn’t stop. After the premiere of its first season on April 10, 2021, and its second season on January 8, the series has already announced a third season for which we now have more details, including a release date. A very close release date, as we suspected when the first season consisted of 24 episodes and the second only 13. Because the third season, which will adapt the Tenjiku Arc, will premiere in October of this same year.

Disney+ DOWNLOAD

Originally aired on Crunchyroll, where the first season is still available to watch, the second season of the anime was broadcasted on Disney+. This formula will be repeated with the upcoming third season, which will once again be exclusively streamed on Disney+.

Tokyo Revengers is a series that follows Takemichi Hanagaki, a young adult who discovers that his high school girlfriend has been killed by a criminal gang called Tokyo Manji. Living a miserable life and with her being the only girlfriend he has ever had, when he time-travels twelve years into the past and finds himself in his teenage years, he decides to do something to change it all. He will do something to save his girlfriend, Hinata, and to alter his life so that he doesn’t end up as an adult who hates his own life.

With the first season adapting the first three arcs of the manga—the Tokyo Manji Arc, the Moebius Arc, and the Valhalla Arc—and the second season adapting the fourth arc, the Black Dragon Arc, the upcoming third season will tackle the longest arc in the entire manga: the Tenjiku Arc. This is something that concerns fans because, due to its length, it seems impossible to fit everything into thirteen episodes without having to cut out many elements from the manga.

Disney+ DOWNLOAD

Facing tough competition, Tokyo Revengers’ third season will premiere during the fall anime season. It will be up against heavyweight contenders such as the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, SPY x FAMILY, the final season of Attack on Titan, and the second part of Dr. STONE NEW WORLD. The fall season is already filled with exciting shonen series. However, knowing Takemichi’s determination, we’re confident he will find a way to emerge victorious from this fierce battle.

The Great Goofy Debate: Exploring the Elusive Nature of Goofy’s Species

Mickey is a mouse. There is no doubt about it, just like Donald is a duck. And Pluto is a dog. It’s easy to distinguish Clarabella as a cow and Chop and Chop as squirrels, but the million-dollar question has been lurking since 1932: What the hell is Goofy? Yes, yes, you can laugh all you want, but there’s something hiding between that long nose, those ears and that goofy laugh. And we’re willing to go all the way.

Disney+ DOWNLOAD

Is it a dog?

The first answer is obvious: it’s a dog, isn’t it? In his first appearance he was called “Dippy Dawg”, which already gives us an idea of the origin of the character. In 1939 he was finally given the name we all know, in the short film ‘Goofy and Wilbur’, but it didn’t make anything clear about him. At that time Pluto had already been around for nine years, and he is undoubtedly a classic dog, the first thing that comes to mind when you think of one.

Some people say “They are just drawings, don’t think about it: they are both dogs. Only one talks and reasons and the other does not. There must be something else going on. His more modern girlfriend is Clarabella, a cow: if Minnie is a mouse and Daisy is a paw, you would think that at Disney they suffer from the “Noah’s ark” syndrome and put animals of the same species together. Then it’s settled, isn’t it? Goofy Goof is a cow.

Is it a cow?

Well. Or not. Goofy has been known to have other girlfriends who were definitely of the canine branch: chances are he doesn’t care, or that no one at Disney has spent as much time brooding over Goofy’s love life as the fans have. In the 1960s his girl was Glory-Bee, whose description only indicated that she has a dog’s nose.

What’s more: as we learned in the immeasurable ‘Goofy and Son’ he was married to a woman of whom we only know her name (Mrs. Goof) and they had a son, Max, who although he has the same problems as Goofy in terms of his animal origins, has more of a doggy face. Disney has stated that we have never met Goofy’s ex on screen, so we can rule out any of his loves. At least it’s clearer that he’s a dog. Sort of.

More or less?

Yes: Bill Farmer himself, the voice actor for Goofy since 1987, broke with everything when he bluntly said, in an interview with Yahoo, “Its not a dog“. Eye. “Pluto is a dog, but Goofy seems to be in the canine family in the same way that a wolf is not a dog but is also in the canine family”. Before being able to open new theories, the actor himself discards them because he knows how annoying fans can be with our absurd niches.

“I think Canis Goofus is the technical Latin term for what Goofy is. It’s simply Goofy.” Forever sunk. We started writing not knowing what the hell Goofy is (but seriously suspecting the doggy option) and now all we keep knowing is… we keep not knowing anything. Please, Disney, we need a solution. Who the hell is Goofy Goof?

Unveiling the Definitive Order: All Indiana Jones Movies Ranked from Worst to Best

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate is just around the corner and, to prepare ourselves, we are ranking the previous Indiana Jones movies.

Some sagas are so mythical that they cannot die. No matter what happens, they always come back, in one way or another, with their characters proving that they are already more myths than people. Authentic catalysts of something that transcends the characters, becoming popular icons recognized by all. Among these, cinema has managed to create one in particular that is impossible to forget. This is Indiana Jones.

Created by George Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg, at least the first four films, we have just around the corner the fifth installment of the franchise: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. This one will be directed by James Mangold and if anything they have promised it will have the same adventure movie spirit of the previous films in the franchise, with Harrison Ford returning as Indiana Jones. So let’s order the Indiana Jones movies from the worst to the best. A list where the worst of the movies is very good and the best is a masterpiece, which you can also now watch on Disney+.

Disney + DOWNLOAD

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Coming back after twenty years in the fridge can be difficult. Just ask Indiana Jones, who in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull showed us that it is still possible to make a family adventure film, fun, full of action and historical and science fiction elements with spectacular set pieces based on relatively realistic elements without losing any of its charm. This was proven by the 790 million grosses and the good critical reception the film received.

That doesn’t mean that the audience was less enthusiastic. Neither Harrison Ford is the same actor now as he was twenty years ago, nor is Steven Spielberg the same director, nor is the audience the same. That’s why the film made it feel clunky and impostured to many people, like a doctored and cheated version of the original trilogy. But if seen without the glasses of nostalgia, the reality is that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a fun, well-paced movie that knows how to drink from the source of the originals to find its own way.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

If second parts were never good, someone would have to explain why Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is so good. Although it is true that it is considered the weakest of the three original films, being received lukewarmly by critics, despite being an absolute box office success, the film gives an interesting twist to the original film by introducing more supernatural elements, introducing more exotic elements and putting even more weight on its secondary characters, unloading the weight of the adventure on Harrison Ford’s shoulders.

All that does not detract from the fact that watching it today can be uncomfortable. Its look is extremely orientalist, which means that all of its depiction of Chinese and Indian characters border on, if not outright into, offensive if not outright harmful stereotypes. That coupled with less finely tuned pacing than the other two installments, despite having some of the franchise’s most iconic imagery, justifies its place on this list. Because Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a great film, but it is probably the worst-aged film of the original trilogy.

Disney + DOWNLOAD

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

The third Indiana Jones movie would be the perfect synthesis between the achievements of the first one and the fumbling of the second one. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade returns more prominence to Indiana Jones, but again gives more weight to the secondary characters, while enhancing the context of adventure and a certain exotic touch. The result is a much more solid film, with an enviable pace, which would be easy to place as the best film in the franchise if it were not for the fact that, at the end of the day, it does not stop replicating what the original film already did.

That’s perhaps the only problem with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It refines the concept, but doesn’t bring anything new to the table. Sean Connery is amazing, Harrison Ford is great, and it’s never a bad thing to fight Nazis, but it lacks the novelty of Raiders of the Lost Ark or the exoticism and impact of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. That’s why it’s the most rounded, most perfect and refined film, but also the one that leaves the least emotional aftertaste. Because although it is not possible to find any technical defect, it is also difficult to attribute to it the same merits that we do find in the other two films.

Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark

The jewel in the crown. The original film. The origin of everything. Here we not only met Indiana Jones stealing a statue in a Peruvian temple in a way as ingenious as his escape was ridiculous, but it gave us all the keys to what would be Indiana Jones from then on. Indiana Jones goes in search of an ancient artifact, someone of great power tries to get it for himself, Indiana Jones gets it first, but discovers that it is better that the world never knows of the existence of that object. Something that Indiana Jones and the lost ark manages to build to perfection while introducing us to tremendously charismatic characters in an extremely fun adventure with interesting and vibrant scenarios.

It’s really hard to find any fault with Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark. It could be more agile in certain moments. It could give a more relevant role to Marion. But all that we can criticize are minor aspects for a film that, even today, is fresh, fun and fascinating. A film that has been imitated to exhaustion and practically never imitated well, let alone equaled, that has defined adventure films as we know them. For that alone, it already deserves to be at the top of this list as the best Indiana Jones movie of all time until we see what the search for the Dial of Doom has to offer.

Disney’s Unusual Blend: Stitch Meets Samurai in New Crossover Film Set in Ancient Japan

After its success, the franchise trunk was opened: if Square’s game is worth it, why not make a sequel series to ‘Up’? And what about a ‘Lilo and Stitch’ manga?

One already had a feeling that something was changing in Disney when ‘Kingdom Hearts’ appeared. The most classic characters in the company’s history fighting alongside those from ‘Final Fantasy’ and doing crossovers? It sounded, certainly, risky, more than what the company is usually willing to be. But it worked. And afterwards, following its success, the treasure trove of franchises was opened: if Square’s game is worth it, why not make a sequel series of ‘Up’? And what about a ‘Lilo and Stitch’ manga, what do you think?

Kingdom Hearts 3 DOWNLOAD

Stitch samurai

Succeeding in Japan for an American company is not always easy, and that’s why when they achieve it, they always try to squeeze the product to the maximum until it’s completely dry. After the 2002 film, Stitch became an overnight sensation in Japan, so important that it soon got licensed in all kinds of merchandise, from lunch boxes and plush toys with a design that emphasized his cuteness (or “kawaii” in Japanese) to specific products tailored for the Japanese market.

‘Stitch and the Samurai’ is not the first manga that Disney has released in Japan. In addition to adaptations of ‘Wall-E’ or ‘Finding Nemo’, they have made forays into the craziest crossovers. For example, in 2015, ‘Miriya & Marie’ was born, featuring a Japanese girl transported to 1910 Paris who meets the cat from ‘The Aristocats’ (yes, you read that right). A decade earlier, in 2005, ‘Kilala Princess’ introduced characters from ‘Snow White,’ ‘Aladdin,’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ teaching a girl what it means to be a Disney Princess in a shojo (girls’ manga) style, akin to ‘Kingdom Hearts,’ for better understanding.

But none as wonderfully crazy as ‘Stitch and the Samurai’ (‘Tono & Stitch’ in its original version), in which the creature, years before meeting Lilo, escapes from the base and, due to a critical error in his spaceship, crash-lands in… the Sengoku era of Japan, which took place in the 15th and 16th centuries. There, the creature encounters a group of warlords who are captivated by its beauty.

Interestingly, the manga starts off with brutality, not unlike ‘Lone Wolf and Cub’ (with some differences, of course): Stitch feels like he’s truly breaking into a completely different story, and boy, does he succeed. By the end of volume 2, the warlords find themselves in a futuristic city, encountering vending machines without understanding what the heck is going on.

Surprisingly, all three volumes were published in Spain by Planeta, but the author, Hiroto Wada, wasn’t there to celebrate: he passed away shortly after completing the final episode at the age of 46 due to a cerebral hemorrhage. He leaves behind a crossover as strange as it is truly fabulous. Aren’t you intrigued? Come on, it can’t be worse than ‘Leroy & Stitch’ after all.

A Cracks in the Force: Star Wars Suffers First Major Product Failure in 40 Years

Each new announcement in the series is greeted more with a routine grunt from fans than with the merriment of yesteryear. And as ultimate proof, the first big-time product in over forty years to fail in a…galactic way.

It is a fact that ‘Star Wars’, in recent times, is a saga that doesn’t generate as much excitement as before. The oversaturation of series, comics, novels, and video games has transformed the franchise into something very different from the once-in-a-lifetime event it used to be. Now, each new announcement of the saga is met with more of a routine grumble from fans rather than the exuberance of the past. And as definitive proof, the first major product in over forty years fails in a… galactic way. On a smaller scale, we have thousands of examples. Someday we will delve into it when the Force is with us.

Laser Hotel

With the acquisition of Lucasfilm, Disney aimed to maximize the profitability of George Lucas’ galactic saga: a new trilogy, standalone films, series on Disney+, an official expanded universe, and even an unofficial one. And of course, the opportunity to be part of their theme parks, which they wouldn’t miss. After all, it’s Disney. It worked well for them: for example, ‘Rise of the Resistance’ is a beloved roller coaster among visitors at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studio, proving that if done right, the saga was still far from tiring its fans.

With this enthusiasm, Disney built a two-story hotel where guests would experience a personalized adventure for two days in the galactic universe. Its construction took five years… but it will remain open for only one and a half years. Despite the exciting adventures promised in the ‘Galactic Staircruiser,’ as the invention is called, not everyone is willing to pay $1,200 per person per night to stay inside a closed facility with no windows for an even more immersive experience.

In the end, ‘Galactic Staircruiser’ demanded a lot – too much – from fans: squeezing into costumes, interacting with Stormtroopers, creating their own storylines, and getting as little sleep as possible to try to make the most of an experience that, we can tell you in advance, is nowhere near worth the $1,200 it costs. Windows to space, droids, and aliens that interact with you transport you to the ‘Star Wars’ universe. Sounds good, of course… but if it were a thousand dollars cheaper. To put things into perspective, $1,200 is what you can spend on a week’s vacation in some European and Asian countries. It doesn’t justify the price, no matter how much glitz and glamour it offers.

Guests can accept missions, choose sides, meet in various locations, and imagine all kinds of plans… But no matter how immersive it may be, no one wants to spend a fortune to stay inside a hotel when they visit Disney World. And without specific data, it can be inferred that it has been such a failure that they haven’t even tried to revive it by lowering the prices: there will be one last trip at the end of September, so if you were waiting for an opportunity, now is the time to go.

Do you not have an extra 1200 euros, plus travel expenses and admission to Disney World if you want to skip the hotel, and another 1200 if you’re traveling alone because they charge for a double room? Even though those who have gone are passionate about it, you’re going to need more than just using the Force to enjoy it without constantly reminding yourself that you’re paying a fortune for an experience that, on top of that, has been a resounding stellar failure.

What do we know about the former Willow movie?

The last time we heard about the enigmatic sorcerer was around 1988, when the movie premiered in theatres under the command of the famous creator of Star Wars, George Lucas. Currently, Lucasfilm is under the power of the Walt Disney Company, and they have decided to extend that remarkable story to give him the recognition he deserves.

The series is also set several years after the original film, where a young Warwick Davis played farmer Willow at that time. He aspired to one day become a wizard and lived comfortably within a village of magical elves. You can quickly check out the movie inside Disney+ if you’re curious. In his first adventure, Willow’s mission was to protect the newborn Empress Elora Denan from a prophecy that indicated that the baby would be the end of the evil queen Bavmorda. To do so, Willow embarked on a grand adventure where he sought to protect the child while trying to end the queen’s legacy.

What will happen this time in the new Willow series?

For this reason, Kit seeks all possible help and, accompanied by many warriors loyal to the kingdom, searches for the legendary Willow. For his part, the former farmer is already a legendary sorcerer whose exploits are told throughout the continent.

After being a bit reluctant, Willow joins the group on a dangerous quest, where he will have to face all kinds of dangers to save the world as they know it.The series will have eight episodes but an excellent cast, with characters like Warwick Davis returning from the past and others like the British actress Joanne Whalley.

Warwick Davis returns once again as the beautiful Willow Ufgood

Having played several roles throughout his life, Warwick Davis returns to one of the greatest of his career. Nelwyn Willow Ufgood’s Dwarf sorcerer is back to his old ways but filled with a repertoire of magical abilities from his years of training.

It is a character that is totally out of what is expected of a hero. Davis gives us a better vision of the reality that has been living for many years in solitary for Willow.

Sorcha, played by Joanne Whalley

The famous actress is reprising her role as the well-known Queen Sorsha, a warrior of legend and the daughter of the evil Queen Bavmorda. In the ’80s, the actress married Val Kilmer, who participated in the original film.

However, due to the actor’s illness, artificial intelligence had to be used to bring him back as her character Madmartigan.

Ruby Cruz as Kit

Ruby Cruz is featured in the series playing Kit, Sorsha’s daughter and princess of the magical kingdom of Tir Asleen. The actress declares that she finds her role a great opportunity, as it goes against all the stereotypical ideas people have about princes or princesses.

Dempsey Bryk as Airk

Young actor Dempsey Bryk appears as Airk, the son of Queen Sorsha and Kit’s twin. Previously the actor has participated in other series such as Black Mirror and even in the movie The Silence.

The actor states that Willow is a series that seeks to give us a place to look at the world differently while laughing and having fun more relaxedly. He also states that the series will allow us to see the world’s current problems and experiences in a different and much calmer way.

Many other well-known actors as part of the cast

In addition to those already mentioned, other figures appear in the beautiful series. This cast promises to take us to a unique and incomparable experience that any other movie cannot give.

  • And many more.

Willow will be released this November 30 on Disney Plus

Not only can some of the original cast be seen in the series, but Ron Howard reprises his role as lead director. Additionally, we will see Jonathan Kasdan, Wendy Mericle, and others as executive producers.

The series already has an exclusive premiere date of November 30 and can only be accessed through the Disney+ platform.

The four best ways to rewatch all the Star Wars movies

Now that the Skywalker Saga has ended with The Rise of Skywalker, you might be gearing up to rewatch all the Star Wars movies. Or maybe you want to take advantage of the fact that they’re all on Disney+ to get a family member or a friend hooked on this great saga. Regardless of your reasons for revisiting these incredible adventures, we’ve come up with four possible orders for you to watch them in. We’ve broken down the pros and cons of each order and recommended the best ones for seasoned fans and newbies.

Remember, with the exception of The Rise of Skywalker, all these movies and series are available on the recently launched Disney+. The free one-week trial of this comprehensive streaming platform is plenty of time to have a Star Wars marathon using some of these orders!

Option 1: Release-date order

Okay, let’s go with the obvious choice first. It’s still the best option for newcomers to the saga, because you slowly learn about the world and characters of Star Wars. In that sense, it’s perfect for introducing the saga to kids. The classic trilogy is free of scenes of political maneuvering and such, which they might find confusing or boring. Also, you avoid spoilers, such as finding out Darth Vader is Luke’s father, or that Obi Wan Kenobi trained him before the days of the Empire. And finally, it’s an option that quickly gets you to the brilliant The Empire Strikes Back, one of the highlights of the saga.

That said, this order has its drawbacks. First, the people you want to introduce Star Wars to may not tolerate the style and presentation of “old” movies (that is, pre-’90s films). If so, this option will only get them to associate Star Wars with “stuff for old people that’s no longer fun.” The other disadvantage is that A New Hope hasn’t aged well. The pace is a bit erratic, and it’s obvious that most of the acting is a bit wooden (Alec Guinness’ general facial expression is “I don’t know what I’m doing”). These details could be off-putting for some people.

If you choose this option, the order is as follows:

A New Hope

The Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

The Phantom Menace

Attack of the Clones

Revenge of the Sith

The Force Awakens

Rogue One

The Last Jedi

Solo

The Rise of Skywalker

Option 2: Chronological order

Do you have youngsters at home who can’t stand old movies, as we mentioned above? This option could be your salvation. The Phantom Menace, the first movie in this order, is the one most oriented to children. The jokes are quite infantile, one of the main characters (Anakin) is a child (so it will be easy to identify with him), and Jar Jar Binks is the “pet” on duty. It’s also an excellent way to introduce Star Wars to people who demand a linear story, or who are passionate about special effects. Finally, it’s a good option for saga experts who need a change of pace (that is, always using option 1).

The disadvantages? Although The Phantom Menace is the most kid-oriented film, it has moments that even adults will struggle to tolerate. We’re referring to the endless talk about the Trade Federation, the political maneuvering… And it’s immediately followed by Attack of the Clones, one of the weakest movies in the saga. Also, we don’t recommend this order if you’re a fan of plot twists, mysteries and surprises; it will totally ruin episodes 4-6 for you. Another problem is that you’ll take a long time to reach the classic trilogy, the main course, with the addition of the two most recent prequels: Solo and Rogue One.

If you choose this option, the order is as follows:

The Phantom Menace

Attack of the Clones

Revenge of the Sith

Solo

Rogue One

A New Hope

The Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

The Force Awakens

The Last Jedi

The Rise of Skywalker

Option 3: The Machete Order

Here’s where the fun begins. They say this order, created by Rod Hilton in 2011, is perfect for both fans of the saga and newbies. The idea is to start with A New Hope and continue with The Empire Strikes Back, but then go back and watch two of the three prequels (Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith) to learn about Darth Vader’s background. It’s a logical leap backwards, because we just found out Vader is Luke’s father and we’re surely wondering what happened to make him a villain. This order skips The Phantom Menace because Anakin is very minor in it, and it makes the flashback too long. And then, with the right information and having watched both movies, we are ready to return to the “present” and prepare for the final battle in Return of the Jedi. It’s a near-perfect order because it focuses on Luke’s story, which has the most substance, and finds a quick, fun way to introduce the prequels. Also, it heightens the tension of the Luke vs. Darth Vader fight, because we now know about the villain’s baggage and everything at stake. Although many believe it’s the perfect order for everyone, we prefer to recommend it to veterans for the following reasons.

The first is that the Machete Order is out of date. It was created in 2011, before Disney acquired the franchise. So it doesn’t include the new trilogy. Maybe we could start with The Force Awakens and then, when we see Luke defeated, jump to Episodes 4-6 to explore his younger days? That could work, but… what about the trilogy of prequels? The second reason it’s better to use this order if you have already seen the movies is Machete has no room for Rogue One or Solo, since they’re not films focused on the Skywalkers. As a result, out of 11 movies you only end up watching 5, fewer than half! Newbies will get a very minimal taste of what Star Wars is about.

If you choose this option, the order is as follows:

A New Hope

The Empire Strikes Back

Attack of the Clones

Revenge of the Sith

Return of the Jedi

Option 4: The complete order

Now that Disney+ is here, you can go all out and watch absolutely everything related to Star Wars. Because this platform lets you enjoy not only all the movies (with The Rise of Skywalker pending release) but also the animated series and the excellent show The Mandalorian. This option is 100% for fans, and it takes time (many mini-marathons), but as a reward, you’ll have the most comprehensive vision of the universe. Also, you’ll get to know all the secondary characters who have yet to appear in the movies.

The drawbacks? For starters, your family and friends won’t see you for days. We hope you won’t blame it on us! The other disadvantage concerns the series. Although Clone Wars and Rebels are terrific shows with cool story arcs and likeable characters, you may get overwhelmed by so many episodes. No worries if you decide to skip the filler and go straight to the most important moments of each series. That won’t happen with the last show, The Mandalorian. It has only eight episodes, and they’re packed with action and suspense – they’ll fly by!

If you pick this option, here’s what you have to watch (you choose the order!)

A New Hope

The Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

The Phantom Menace

Attack of the Clones

Revenge of the Sith

The Force Awakens

Rogue One

The Last Jedi

Solo

The Rise of Skywalker

The Clone Wars series (if you’re really lost, watch The Clone Wars movie first)

Rebels

Resistance

The Mandalorian

10. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

How could our ranking not include the movie that started it all? Aside from its main achievement (it was the first full-length, color animated film released in theaters), Snow White stands out for its characters that ooze emotion, for the movements of each of them, for its colorful settings, for its songs… Has it aged badly? In some ways, yes, especially in the way Snow White seems like a spectator in her own life. But overlooking those qualities of the era, it’s quite entertaining and certainly tastier than a poison apple. Hmm, that’s not setting the bar too high, is it?

9. 101 Dalmatians

Three words: Cruella de Vil. This great villain has managed to scare and traumatize children of every generation. Part of her “charm” is her naked greed. While other villains seek revenge for something they consider unfair (Scar and his loss of power, for example), Cruella only wants a new coat made of dalmatian puppies. Is there anything meaner or more chilling than that? For her alone, 101 Dalmatians deserves a place on our list.

8. Mulan

She’s one of the first Disney princesses who decided to take charge of the situation instead of waiting around to be rescued or prioritizing her love affairs. Thanks to the main character’s proactivity, Mulan is a more epic movie with more action than usual. It still has Disney touches, such as its catchy tunes or fun “pets,” but it draws heavily from Asian culture. That’s why the film is still fresh and fun (even packed into a Disney movie marathon).

7. The Little Mermaid

We owe this movie’s excellence to mega-duo Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, two Broadway composers who organically turned The Little Mermaid into a high-caliber musical. The result is a streamlined, agile, modern adaptation of the original tale that awakened not only an audience numbed by “more of the same” from previous films, but also an animation studio that began to churn out wonders.

6. Moana

This might get us into trouble with Frozen fans, but among the latest batch of modern Disney movies, our favorite is Moana. The directors of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin bring us a leading duo who complement each other perfectly: on the one hand, the young Moana and her insatiable thirst for adventure, and on the other, the heroic yet selfish demigod Maui. The evolution of both is touching and organic, the action sequences are impressive both graphically and choreographically, and thanks to Lin-Manuel Miranda, the songs have no reason to envy the greatest classics. Also, the world of Moana has clearly been recreated with the utmost respect and care; therefore, we’re sure Moana won’t age over time, quite the contrary.

5. The Jungle Book

In The Jungle Book, we find some of the best animated characters in Disney history: the friendly bear Baloo, King Louie and his court of dancing monkeys, and the Shakespearean villain Shere Khan. The movie also contains some of the best Disney songs (composed by the Sherman brothers). Furthermore, the film achieves something that’s almost invisible to the audience: giving narrative coherence to the original unrelated short stories.

4. Fantasia

Walt Disney was always obsessed with revolutionary experiments, so we had to include at least one of them in our top 10. Disney wanted to turn a concert into a movie, and the result was Fantasia, a masterpiece full of great moments. They range from the legendary “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” starring Mickey to the ending with the fearsome Chernabog in “Night on Bald Mountain.” The movie is that, a parade of images and music, an eclectic combination made to be admired and contemplated. The fact that it didn’t have the success it deserved when released was a real tragedy.

3. The Lion King

Why did a movie that nobody at Disney wanted to make and many branded “Bambi with lions” end up being one of the great animated classics? Because its main themes are so human and universal: the parent-child relationship, the eternal struggle against destiny, what it means to grow up and accept who we are… All these great complexities are wonderfully reflected in an endearing, epic and fun fable of less than 90 minutes long. That’s quite a feat.

2. Beauty and the Beast

As proof of the excellence of Beauty and the Beast, consider what happened when Disney decided to pre-release a “work-in-progress” version at the New York Film Festival. The movie, even in its unfinished state, achieved the impossible: a standing ovation from the critics, who whistled and cheered. And let’s not forget it was the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. What’s its secret? The fact that it’s a great musical (the Broadway adaptation is still a hit) full of charismatic, complex characters.

1. Pinocchio

With Snow White, Disney created the world of animated feature films. With Pinocchio, the studio not only raised the bar, but also set the stage for future films. At the narrative level, we have a more complex story than the previous one, a fairy tale with a profound moral that asks what it means to be human and what moral responsibilities it entails. On an artistic level, the improvement over Snow White is amazing: camera effects, huge and varied settings, animation richer in realistic expressiveness. The adventures of the puppet who wanted to be a real boy struck such a chord that “When You Wish Upon a Star” quickly became Disney’s widely recognized theme song.
