The best free mobile games of 2020

These are all the best free mobile games you can download and play in 2020

Best free mobile games 2020

One of the real wonders of today’s modern world goes beyond the technical marvels that are the mobile devices we use all the time. Sure, our Android devices are impressive beasts on their own, and the software that comes with them is impressive even more so. The craziest thing, however, is that a lot of that software is available for free. Yep, there are incredible games you can play on your smartphone without having to pay a single cent.

When you play these free games too, you realize instantly just how impressive it is that they’re free. Free games these days aren’t simple affairs built by amateurs in their bedrooms. Instead, free games these days are built by professional teams of developers working for huge video game studios. Sure, there are elements that you have to pay for but the biggest and best games, like Fortnite: Battle Royale, work it so that the things you pay for don’t actually affect the gameplay at all. That’s right, the best Android games these days are completely free to play.

Best free Android games 2020

Below you’ll find the five best free games for Android from 2020. All games are available in the Google Play Store, which means all you have to do to play them now is click the download link and follow the online instructions.

Call of Duty: Mobile

No game will prove our point about how free games these days are big-name AAA features from the best gaming studios more than Call of Duty: Mobile. This free mobile game is so good that it even adds new and entertaining elements to the established First-Person Shooter (FPS) action that the Call of Duty series is famous for. On top of the beautifully looking multiplayer shooting action, Call of Duty: Mobile also brings in a 100-player Battle Royale mode that is very good.

Ever since the likes of PUBG and Fortnite: Battle Royale took the world by storm there has been plenty of clone attempts to replicate the success and many games have had some sort of Battle Royale mode bolted on to them. With Call of Duty: Mobile, however, this isn’t the case as there has clearly been a lot of effort put into developing the massive new game mode. This is a relatively new title too but already it has been gaining a lot of popularity with new players taking to its entertaining gameplay quickly and particularly happy with the fact that in-app purchases only make cosmetic differences.

Stranger Things: The Game

When you play video game adaptations of major cult smashes, be they movies, TV shows, or god forbid pop acts, you normally don’t expect much from them. Stranger Things: The Game, however, for Android and iOS devices is an exception to that rule. Presented in a pixel art format that fits the 80s nostalgia feel of the hit Netflix show perfectly, Stranger Things: The Game is lots of fun to play and brings with it all of the recognizable elements you know and love from the show.

The gameplay is simple and effective too. This mobile puzzle game is easy to control via a simple tap control system that removes a lot of the clumsiness you get from other mobile adventure games. Even if this wasn’t a Stranger Things game, it would still be lots of fun. The fact that it is though, makes it a must-have game for all fans of the hit Netflix show.

Alto’s Odyssey

There have been many beautiful games that have graced our mobile screens over the years, but normally we have to pay for pleasing aesthetics. Alto’s Adventure changes this though by giving us a dynamic adventure to experience while giving us fantastic visuals and digital art to splendor at as we do so.

Alto’s Odyssey plays as a side-scrolling land surfing game as you take Alto on a magical journey through desserts and plains all on his sandboard that can help him fly down the sides of mountains and jump and flip and pull off a wide array of impressive tricks. On top of the regular stunts and jumps, however, the game also brings in other gameplay dynamics such as wall riding and magical creatures that will toss Alto high into the air.

Pokémon Go

Yes, Pokémon Go has been around for what seems a very long time and nowhere near as many people play it now as did at the height of its popularity back in the summer of 2016 but the game is still one for the best around for many reasons. The main reason is the continued support and development that Niantic has given the game. Back when everybody was playing Pokémon Go the AR RPG game was beset with many flaws and issues. These have all been ironed out now making the real-world AR game everything we all wanted it to be back then when things didn’t work as they should have done. Now, everything just works, which makes the AR dynamics as impressive as they should be. This is one of the best ever Android apps.

On top of that, Niantic is regularly running major global events for players to participate in, giving the game some real weight that makes it worthy of our list of the best mobile games of 2020.

As well as head to action Asphalt 9 also has a great career mode that will take you through all the best features the game has to offer as you battle to become the world’s best driver. This game is free to play and there is an awful lot here that impresses, the only catch is that you’ll be shown ads regularly.

How to use military tactics in shooter games

We all like to play the lone wolf, running into an enemy outpost like Rambo and swinging a chain gun around while yelling “Leroy Jenkins!” It’s the way shooter games may play in our head, but unfortunately it’s not going to net you many wins (and if it does, thank your teammates). The best shooter games take inspiration from actual squad-based combat, and even if at the end of the day you’re still just playing Fortnite or Battlefield, some strategies and maneuvers still bleed into the experience. Here’s our selection of squad-based military tactics that will give you an edge over players, even when the odds are stacked against you.

1. Location, location, location

If you’re a fan of shotguns in video games, you’ll need to stay out of wide, open fields. Likewise, you’ll want to keep far away from close quarters if you’re playing a sharpshooter. Where the fight happens is up to you; avoid running into a place where you’re outnumbered, outmaneuvered, or have poor mobility. Before Napoleon Bonaparte sent off his invading armies, he hired cartographers to sketch maps of enemy settlements and terrain.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Outpost heat map
Studying this heat map of Outpost from Modern Warfare 3 can shed light on areas to avoid.

Instead, keep to familiar territory where you have a clear advantage. If you’re not sure where that is, look up the map online. Check your loadout. Plan where you want to make your stand. This tactic also works great in games that offer gadgets like thermal vision, smoke grenades, or trip mines. Keep your entrances covered, and outlast your opponents.

2. Use team chat

You know how people like to scream and hurl insults about your mother over game chat? While this is charming you can also use this tool to coordinate a team (provided you can establish the ethos for them to take you seriously). Don’t just use it to call out enemy locations either. In an actual military situation you’d be doing a lot more communicating than shooting, and it’s this way for a reason – knowing is half the battle. Which of your teammates can offer cover fire with a sniper rifle? Does anyone have eyes on the objective? How many enemies are converged over x position? If you know what you’re up against you won’t be understaffed.

Splitscreen shooter
“Who needed a carbine? There’s one by me.”

If you’re on a team with some outlandishly good players, but you find you’re still having trouble capturing a territory or completing an objective, it’s probably because your team’s talents aren’t being put in the right places. Stop banging your head against the wall and coordinate an effective push. Take a second to rethink your strategy. There could be a weakness you were too frustrated to see. Re-evaluate and exploit it, this time with numbers behind you!

3. Move in formation

The military deploys its units in small squad formations, and it’s not just because it looks cool. The way your team is positioned can make all the difference once a firefight erupts. Where are you positioned? Where are your teammates positioned? Can you effectively move, react, and shoot as one cohesive unit, or could one well-placed grenade take you all out at once? Know the best time to employ the best shape.

One of the most effective formations in a game like PUBG or Battlefield is the Fire Team Column which positions your squad mates in a parallelogram (the bottom formation pictured below). This is a great shape for controlled mobility in any direction, and also allow for an immediate, reactive counter in case you get ambushed. If you move together and keep moderately spread out you’re forcing your enemies to pick a single target. Once they do, communicate and retaliate as one cohesive unit. It’s also great because you can easily and intuitively switch formations from the Fire Team Column:

Changing fire team formations

4. RTR

RTR stands for React, Take Cover, Return Fire. If you find yourself separated from your team for whatever reason, this is an effective defensive strategy should the enemy gets the drop on you. In a more realistic shooter experience you’re not going to have health bars a mile long, or shields made out of magic. Your best defense is to threaten with your own firepower, and retreat to a more advantageous position. That’s what RTR is all about:

Battlefield
No one likes getting shot at. Go prone and return fire. See how they like it.

When you get shot at, your first reaction may be to run or hide, but it’s actually better to shoot back at the enemy – even if you know you can’t kill them; that’s not what you’re trying to do. You’re trying to get them to stop shooting at you. If you lay down suppressive fire (React) you can buy yourself enough time to do step two (Take Cover). If there isn’t a decent cover to duck behind, crouch down, drop to the ground, or at least zig-zag back and forth. It’s better than standing there doing nothing, and jumping around isn’t as helpful as you’d think. Once you’re in a better spot for avoiding enemy shots, you can take proper aim (Return Fire) from a safer position.

5. Flank

This is a classic ‘hammer and anvil’ tactic employed by the Alexander the Great and the Macedonians. The idea is to keep your opponent preoccupied with an unbreakable force in front, while you’re circling around to hit them with a hard-hitting elite force from behind. It looked something like this:

macedonian hammer anvil tactic alexander great

Flanking is such an overused, obvious tactic that it’s often discarded as a something overly predictable. The whole point of a good flank is that it is unpredictable. If you’re just attacking from two directions at once, you are technically flanking an enemy, but there are ways to do so more effectively: Surrounding and pincering, misdirecting, or attacking from a wholly unexpected angle.

You may have noticed that most of these strategies involve working with a team. Yes, that’s the point. Even if you’ve spent the entire match bad-mouthing your teammates for a having bad K/D, at the end of the day even bad players can group up and at least hold the advantage of numbers – they just need to be properly coordinated. Hop on team chat and start playing the macro game! If they won’t listen and just keep shouting insults about your mother … at least you tried.

Fortnite gets a Borderlands crossover

The world of Pandora has come to the Fortnite island as part of a surprise Borderlands crossover. Players that head to the game’s desert biome will be able to see a variety of areas inspired by 2k’s upcoming shoot-and-loot game as part of the Fortnite x Mayhem event.

Borderlands 3 made headlines and caused controversy earlier this year when it was announced that the forthcoming game would be exclusive to the Epic Games store. That partnership between 2K and Epic seems to be continuing in the form of a massive bundle of Borderlands content for Fortnite. Players that visit the in-game store will be able to purchase a Psycho character skin; these marauders are some of the most prevalent enemies in the Borderlands world. In addition, a pair of Buzz Axe mining tools and Claptrap back bling are also available for purchase.

Claptrap is just as annoying (or lovable?) as ever, acting similar to one of Fortnite’s in-game pets. He’ll provide color commentary during play and react extensively to the world, and is easily one of the most animated and lively back blings in the game to date.

In addition to the new store items, players have until September 10th to complete a set of Borderlands-inspired challenges. Doing so will net tons of Borderlands themed rewards, from stickers to emotes to weapon skins worthy of any Vault Hunter.

Jumping into the game itself, players that head to the southeastern edge of the map’s desert area will find themselves in for a trip to the lawless world of Pandora. The game world within the Rift Zone has been given an almost total overhaul. The first and most apparent feature is the change to the game’s visuals. The saturated color palette and cel-shaded graphics in the area are ripped straight from Borderlands, and will leave players wondering if they accidentally stumbled into a different game.

The area itself is also loaded with new locations and items, such as Pandora’s alien-looking flora and fauna and collections of ramshackle wasteland settlements. Even the game’s chest have received a makeover to look like in-game loot chests from Borderlands.

It’s an ambitious crossover, and one that serves to cement the relationship between 2K and Epic. Borderlands 3 will be available September 13th, and the Fortnite event will run until September 10th. Hopefully, though, this colorful new Borderlands area will stay in-game until the end of Season 10.

What to do when your Fortnite account gets hacked

Oh no! You’ve been hacked! Here’s how to fix your Fortnite problem.

Fortnite BattleUh-oh.

You just stepped back into Fortnite and you’re character’s wearing a new skin. Your V-bucks are completely gone, there are new items in your inventory, and maybe even a few of your accessories have disappeared. If you connected a bank account, it’s possible you’ve even been charged some amount of money for Battle Pass tiers, V-bucks, and more!

First things first: we’re sorry.

This is possibly one of the worst gaming experiences. You may feel betrayed by the game and other players, depressed by the loss of money, skins, and V-bucks, and scared that other accounts have been infiltrated as well.

Luckily, there are a few easy steps that can help you solve the issue, stop the hackers, and prevent these occurrences in the future. Let’s talk about…

What to do when your Fortnite account gets hacked

Step 1: It’s Going to be Okay

Don't Panic

Full disclosure: when our account was hacked, we got angry at a family member that was trying to help by asking questions like, “Are you sure you were hacked? Is your bank account connected? What items disappeared? Do you have two-factor authentication? When were you last on?”

While well-intentioned, those can be aggravating questions during while you’re still trying to figure out what’s going on with your hacked account yourself. Still from personal experience, allow us to suggest this:

Don’t snap those around you, if at all possible.

We promise, it’s going to be okay. We found the Epic games customer service department to be helpful and responsive, and we believe you will as well. So once again, we’d like to remind you that everything will be alright.

Step 2: Assess the Damage

Site

After taking a breath, try to remember a few things. Feel free to use this list and start at one end or the other:

  • What items disappeared?
  • What items appeared?
  • How did your V-buck amount change?
  • Can you log into your account?
  • Were any purchases made on your account?
  • Is your email account safe?

To check purchases, you may need to go to the Epic website and sign into your account. The moment you sign in, you’ll see this:

StuffGo to “Payments” and disconnect any of the information within to prevent more transactions.

Next, go to “Payment History” to see if someone bought things without your permission using another account.

If you can’t even log into your account, go straight to “Sending an Email to Epic,” and let them know about what’s happening for further steps on verifying your identity and getting your account under control.

Account Actions

While checking your account, there are a few things you should do.

If you payed through another source (like Xbox or Playstation), go into “Connected Accounts” and removing all attached profiles – Xbox, Twitch, Switch, all of them. Epic customer service will help you remove online sessions of your account when you send an email, but it’s up to you to remove these console profiles.

Consoles

Finally, once you’re sure everything’s clear, change your Epic password just in case the hacker can be shut out. You can activate 2-factor authentication now, but it will likely need to be reactivated after Epic cleans up the account.

Once that’s done, you should send Epic a message.

Sending an Email to Epic

To regain control of your Epic account, you must send an email to them.

A little honest talk before we go on: you have little to no power to fix this account issue on your own (aside from removing your payment info and console sessions). You won’t be able to send purchases back or retrieve lost items yourself, and searching through the website for an option to do so will be a pointless, stressful endeavor. But…

This system can actually makes things less worrying. Send the message and be done with it. Until they respond, take some time to clear your head and make sure your email, console profiles, and bank accounts are okay.

So, how does emailing work?

You can visit Epic’s support website, but be warned: to contact them, you’ll want to click the “Contact Us” button at the top right!

QuestionsFrom here, you’ll encounter Epic’s friendly message creation screen:

MessageThis is where your account knowledge comes in handy: tell them what’s changed about your profile. With any luck, Epic will revert everything back to normal, V-bucks and items and payments. It may take a few days or so (no longer than a week).

We trust them to get the account issues resolved. Just remember: when Epic responds, follow the instructions they give! If you’re asked to change your password again when all account sessions are dissolved, make sure to choose a good password immediately.

For the Future

SecurityThe best thing you can do for yourself is activate 2-Factor authentication from the Password and Security menu immediately.

When you enter, there’ll be two options: app authentication and email authentication. We recommend email due to the easier accessibility.

2FAConclusion

Loss of account security can be a horrible experience, but usually doesn’t take more than a week to fix, as long as you quickly disconnect your console profiles, remove your bank account information, and email the Customer Support department at Epic immediately. From there, remember to increase the security on all your internet accounts to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future. Soon enough, Epic will have your Fortnite account back to normal!

We hope this article helps you weather the experience with ease.

Fortnite Season 10 Week 3: Worlds Collide Challenge Guide

Follow these tips to dominate this week’s challenges!

We’re getting another Season 5 throwback with this week’s set of challenges, dubbed “Worlds Collide.” You’ll be hanging around in the deserts and messing with rifts this week, with a few damage-dealing challenges and other tasks tossed in for good measure. Read on for our guide to both the regular and prestige challenge sets for Week 3.

Fortnite Season 10 Week 3: Worlds Collide Challenge Guide

Use a Rift

This week’s first challenge should be pretty simple. Rifts (pictured above) look like glowing blue cracks in the sky, and were originally plentiful in Season 5. Now, however, they’re clustered around very particular locations. You can reliably find them near the Durrr Burger head on the outskirts of Pleasant Park and near the stagecoach outside of Paradise Palms. Simply walk into one to complete the challenge.

Visit a Rift Zone

fortnite season 10 week 3 rift zone

Rift Zones are new this season, and are letting us step back into the past with some of our favorite locations. We’ve already seen Tilted get a Wild West-themed makeover, and this week Mega Mall has been replaced by Retail Row. Rift Zones are easy to spot from the Battle Bus. As shown in the image above, they’re surrounded by a glowing blue aura. Head to either one and step inside to complete this challenge.

Deal damage to opponents at a mountain top Viking Village or Loot Lake (200)

Fortnite: Battle Royale Download Free ►
10

These two locations were central to Season 5. Of the two, you’re probably more likely to encounter enemies at Loot Lake, as it’s a more central and higher traffic location. You don’t have to get eliminations for this one: all you have to do is hit opponents for 200 points of damage.

Visit a memorial to a Cube in a desert or by a lake

fortnite season 10 week 3 cube memorial

Oh, Kevin. How we miss you. Two new memorials for our dearly departed Cube friends have been added to the map, and you’ll be paying them a visit for this challenge. One is located on the desert mesa where Kevin the Cube originally appeared on the map. The second is located on the southern edge of Loot Lake, where Kevin took his final bow. Head to either one to finish the challenge. Check out the map below for their exact locations.

Eliminate opponents in the desert (3)

The desert area is vast, and it doesn’t matter where you end up taking out the required 3 opponents for this challenge. Paradise Palms is likely your best bet, and we also recommend Team Rumble for this one. If you luck out, the storm will close in around the desert area, making these eliminations easy to get.

Search chests at Loot Lake (3)

Time to get hunting. Pop open three chests at Loot Lake and nab yourself some easy rewards.

Consume foraged mushrooms (10)

Under normal circumstances, we’d recommend shying away from eating strange glowing mushrooms, but this time we’ll make an exception. You’ve probably seen these consumables spawning in clusters around the map; eating them will give you a small shield boost. Find and eat 10 of them to finish the challenge.

Fortnite Worlds Collide Prestige Challenge Guide

Use Rifts (4)

For this week’s Prestige challenges, your quotas are being up. Find and use four Rifts to finish this one. Again, we recommend visiting the clusters mentioned above.

Visit Rift Zones (5)

This challenge is going to take a bit to complete, namely because five Rift Zones haven’t appeared on the map yet. So far, we’ve got two, so you can start off by heading to those. Keep an eye out for others as they appear in the coming weeks.

Eliminate opponents at a mountain top Viking Village or Loot Lake (3)

Instead of damage, you’re now tasked with eliminating opponents at the above locations. The same tip holds true: you’ll probably have better luck at Loot Lake, and you may want to consider taking this one on in a Team Rumble gametype.

Visit Cube memorials in a desert and by a Lake

One memorial won’t cut it this time around. You’ll need to pay a visit to both. Refer to the map above to narrow down their exact locations.

Eliminate opponents at Paradise Palms or Fatal Fields (4)

This elimination challenge tasks you with taking down opponents in either one of the above locations. Both tend to be fairly high-traffic, so either one is a good bet for tracking down the required number of opponents.

Search chests at Loot Lake or Lucky Landing (7)

It’s chests galore for this one. Of the two, Lucky Landing is probably the easier location to polish this one off. It tends to be a bit quieter, so you’ll probably be able to find the required 7 chests in a single go.

Consume foraged mushrooms in a single match (5)

You don’t have to consume as many mushrooms for this prestige challenge, but the catch is that you’ll have to consume them all in one go. Fear not: mushrooms tend to appear in clusters, and where you find one you’ll definitely find more. The trick is making sure your shields are low enough to allow you to consume all five. Make sure you leave space for 25 points of shield and you should be golden.

Fortnite streamer Ninja abandons Twitch, fans follow

One of the biggest stars in the video game world turns his back on the streaming platform that made him a star.

Anybody who has even a basic familiarity with the world of the popular battle royale game Fortnite has likely heard the name Ninja.

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is one of the game’s most popular and celebrated players, boasting a streaming following numbering in the millions. Until recently, Ninja was a fixture on Amazon’s popular streaming platform Twitch. However, Ninja recently shocked the world of Fortnite with the surprising announcement that he would be leaving Twitch in favor of Microsoft’s rival platform, Mixer.

Fortnite streamer Ninja abandons Twitch

Ninja made his surprise announcement simultaneously on his YouTube and Twitter accounts. In the Youtube announcement video, Ninja stated that he had been holding onto the news for some time, and was excited to “get back to his streaming roots.”

The actual details and rationale behind the decision are unclear, but the move is doubtless a major coup for the Mixer platform.

Owned by Microsoft, Mixer has struggled to compete with rivals like Twitch and YouTube. Despite having been on the scene since 2016, Mixer has largely failed to find a foothold, and even underwent a complete rebrand in 2017. Ninja’s exclusivity agreement already appears to be bearing fruit: his Mixer stream already boasts one million followers a mere five days after arriving on the platform.

That said, the worry remains that this sudden uptick in popularity could simply be a flash in the pan for Mixer. Currently, fans enjoy a free trial promotion that will expire in two months, leaving subscribers to incur a monthly fee or lose out on certain subscriber perks. Concern remains that after the initial hype expires, Mixer’s popularity will once again dwindle.

Despite the murky future for Ninja’s Mixer channel, Twitch has taken Ninja’s loss in stride. At one time, Ninja was the most popular streamer on the platform, and remained among the top streamers until his recent departure. Twitch issued the following statement concerning Ninja’s move:

“We’ve loved watching Ninja on Twitch over the years and are proud of all that he’s accomplished for himself and his family, and the gaming community. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

Whatever his streaming future, it’s clear that Ninja’s popularity isn’t going to decline anytime soon. His YouTube channel still boasts an impressive 22 million subscribers and the Fortnite pro made a recent appearance at the Fortnite World Cup in New York. There, he both competed in and served as a commentator for the event.

Meet the 16-year-old who is the Fortnite World Champion and $3 million richer!

Fortnite

It’s finally over.

The much-hyped Fortnite World Cup has come to a close, treating Fortnite players around the globe to an epic live finale filled with tense gameplay and major surprises. With a $30 million prize pool at stake, viewers from around the world tuned in to see who would take home the coveted title and be crowned the best Fortnite player in the world. Here’s a recap of the tournament, and a look at the surprising winner.

Fortnite World Cup highlight reel

You can watch the full final match below:

More than 2 million viewers around the globe tuned in to watch the culmination of the Fortnite World Cup. In the spotlight was the coveted Solos title, and a $3 million dollar prize for the champion. Fortnite players will be familiar with the format: players accumulate points based on wins, eliminations, and more. The winner is the player with the most cumulative points; so even if players lost a few matches, they still had a shot at the title.

Among the players in attendance were major names in the Fortnite world, such as pro-gamer and streamer Vivid, as well as relative unknowns who had qualified simply by playing from home. Chief among these unknowns was 16-year-old Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf of Pennsylvania. He soon caught many eyes as he opened the competition with a strong start.

Bugha won his first game and placed high in his next five, netting him a strong point lead right from the start. In addition, Bugha accumulated more than a few eliminations in those matches, which gave him a commanding point lead and kept him in the top spot throughout the day’s competition.

By the time the day’s last game rolled around, Bugha had such a major lead on his competition that it was all but impossible for him to lose. The final total put Bugha at a 26-point-lead over his second-place competition. The teenager took home the grand prize as well as the title of best Fortnite player in the world. Man, what would you have done with $3 million at the age of 16?

Though Bugha took home the top prize, the second and third-place finishers also took home some hefty sums: second-place finisher Psalm walked away with $1.8 million, and 3rd place finisher Epikwhale won $1.2 million. If you missed the tournament live, check out the video below to see Bugha in action:

It’s apparent that Bugha’s about to make the jump from a relatively unknown player to a major star. He’s already booked interviews with the likes of Jimmy Kimmel and has become a household name among Fortnite players. It’s easy to see why: Bugha stays calm under pressure and plays like a true professional. Oh, and about that screen name? “Bugha” was apparently the name that Giersdorf’s grandfather used to call him as a baby to make him laugh.

Wrapping up

Though the Fortnite World Cup might be over, the world of Fortnite is still teeming with activity. The much-anticipated Season 10 has finally dropped and is bringing some big changes to the game landscape including time travel. Shoot, build, and loot your way through this Rumble Royale Challenge!

Fortnite

Fortnite’s second set of Week 1 “missions” puts the spotlight squarely on Team Rumble. All of the challenges listed below will need to be completed within the team-based gametype; doing so will net you a hefty amount of Battle Stars as well as some unique cosmetic items. Check out our guide below for tips on how to finish off the Rumble Royale challenge set quickly and easily.

Fortnite Season 10 Week 1: Rumble Royale Challenge Guide

Play matches of Team Rumble with at least one elimination (5)

fortnite season 10 eliminations rumble royale

This one is rather self-explanatory; simply hop into Team Rumble and start attacking opponents. You’ll need to eliminate at least one opponent over the course of five different matches to snag the rewards for this challenge.

Win a match of Team Rumble (3)

To the victors go the spoils, especially for this challenge. You’ll need to be part of the winning team for three Team Rumble matches to finish this challenge.

Assist teammates with eliminations in Team Rumble (20)

This challenge is a bit more finicky than the others; you’ll need to provide an assist on 20 Team Rumble eliminations. There’s no sure-fire way to do this except to hop into a match and start shooting. You’ll likely luck into finishing this challenge the more opponents you eliminate.

Build structures with the X-Lord outfit in Team Rumble (200)

fortnite season 10 dusty depot

You’ll need to don one of the new Battle Pass outfits for Season 10 to start this challenge. Throw on the X-Lord outfit, then start building. Simply mine as much material as you can and start throwing up structures. You don’t need to be particular about it; any structure will do. Once you hit the threshold you’ll finish the challenge.

Damage opponents in a single match of Team Rumble (500)

Once again, you’ll be getting aggressive for this one. You’ll need to deal 500 damage to your enemies in a single match. This should be very doable; grab whatever weapons you’re most comfortable with and start attacking any enemies in sight.

Eliminate opponents less than 5m away in Team Rumble (5)

For this one, you’ll be getting up close and personal. As such, try to grab yourself a shotgun. It can be hard to judge distance in-game, so get as close as you can before opening fire. Once you’ve killed five enemies, this one will be done.

Search Supply Drops in Team Rumble (5)

Supply Drops are far more plentiful in Team Rumble than in other game modes. They practically rain down on the battlefield. It might take a couple matches, but finding and searching five of them shouldn’t be too hard. They’re also marked on the minimap, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble tracking them down.

Completing each challenge set will unlock unique rewards, such as Battle Stars and cosmetic items. The first challenge set, dubbed “Road Trip,” will take players back to the days of Season 5. Here’s all the Road Trip challenges and how to solve them.

Fortnite Season 10 Week 1: “Road Trip” challenge guide

Visit a Drift-painted Durrr Burger Head, a dinosaur, and a Stone Head Statue

  • Stage 1: Durrr Burger Head

Most players by now will probably know where to look for this distinctive burger head. It sits alone atop a small hill on the outskirts of Loot Lake. You’ll be able to spot it from quite a distance.

  • Stage 2: Dinosaur

To find the dinos, head south of Paradise Palms. Follow the road, and soon you’ll come to a large curve where you’ll see a park of touristy looking dino statues. Check out the triceratops.

  • Stage 3: Stone Head Statue

Finally, you’ll run across one of the iconic stone heads from Season 5 if you head slightly northeast of the frozen lake in the map’s snow biome.

If you’re having trouble tracking down these locations, they’re all marked on the map below.

Deal damage to opponents while riding in a vehicle (200)

Though it may be tempting to use one of this season’s new B.R.U.T.E. mechs to finish this stage of the challenge, that might be easier said than done. Instead, we recommend hopping on a driftboard and shooting opponents with a shotgun as you glide by. It should be pretty easy to hit the required 200 damage with this method.

Destroy stop signs with the Catalyst outfit (10)

You’ll need to use the new Catalyst battle pass outfit for this one. Once you’re suited up, simply wreck 10 stop signs to finish the challenges. You’ll want to look around roadways. Stop signs are especially plentiful in the desert biome.

Ride a zipline in different matches (3)

If you’re having trouble tracking down ziplines, take a look around Lonely Lodge and in the snow biome. They tend to be most plentiful there, and you’ll be able to mark off this stage of the challenge without any issues.

Search a chest in different named locations (3)

Though the challenge format might be different, the challenges themselves are still pretty familiar. Pop open three chests in any different named locations of your choice to finish this one.

Visit Lazy Lagoon and Lucky Landing in a single match

You’ll need to make quite a journey for this challenge, so we recommend grabbing a vehicle beforehand. You’ll basically need to traverse the map from north to south to finish this one; you can start at either location. We also recommend trying a match of Team Rumble for this one. The matches are longer and you’ll be able to respawn if you die, which should make it a little easier to finish this trek.

Get trick points with a vehicle (250,000)

This challenge may seem like a tall order at first, but it’s actually easier than it sounds. You’ll definitely want to grab a Driftboard for this one; it’ll be super easy to use it to catch air and land tricks, and soon enough you’ll have hit the 250,000 point threshold.

Fortnite Season 10 is here

Back to the past

Fortnite Season 9 ended in appropriately spectacular fashion, with the long-teased Cattus monster facing off with the giant mech suit in the fields surrounding Loot Lake. It was a truly awe-inspiring fight, and just when it looked like Cattus would triumph, the mech grabbed some kind of energy ball from the mysterious Loot Lake vault and used it to defeat the monster. If you missed the event in-game, check it out here, because it’s something you really don’t want to miss:

Though the mech triumphed in the end, there was still more to come. Soon, another energy sphere appeared above the damage vault, counting down to the start of Season 10. When the sphere activated, a massive energy pulse enveloped the map… which apparently really messed up the timeline.

Fortnite has been messing with time since at least Season 5, but Season 10 is really going to be sending us for a loop. Already, we’ve seen the crater at Dusty Divot disappear, replaced by the original Dusty Depot. That’s not all: the meteor from the Season 3 finale that destroyed the warehouses appears to be frozen in time right above the warehouses.

This appears to be the first of many new Rift Zones, areas of the map that have been unstuck in time following the events of the season finale. Look around for more of these areas as the season progresses, and expect to see some familiar locations from past seasons making a comeback.

New challenges

Aside from the sweeping changes happening in the Fortnite map, big changes are being made to the game itself as well. Weekly Challenges are gone, and have been replaced with a new format of nested challenges. These themed challenges can be finished at any time and at any pace, and are released in weekly batches of several at a time. Daily Challenges are gone as well, replaced with new limited time only nested challenges. You’ll only have a few days to finish these LTM challenges before they disappear.

Each themed challenge set contains several sub-challenges. Completing these challenges will unlock more challenges within the theme, which nets players different rewards along the way. Though finishing challenges will be rewarded with the usual smattering of Battle Stars, cosmetic rewards have also been added that include skins, back bling, mining tools, and more. It’s a new format that may take some getting used to, but also one that promises some pretty sweet loot.

New gear

As usual, plenty of new gear has been added with the advent of the new season. First and foremost are the intimidating B.R.U.T.E. mech suits. These combat mechs require multiple players to pilot: one to drive and one to shoot. Facing one down can be a challenge, but functionally they act just like any other in-game vehicle.

In addition to the new mechs, some weapons from past seasons are returning, such as the Bolt-Action Sniper. New weapons such as Epic and Legendary rarities for the Tactical Shotgun are also appearing in game, as well as the unique semi-auto Storm Sniper that will allow players to monitor the enclosing storm while scoped in.

Season 10 promises to be a wild ride, and these are doubtless the first of many changes in store for Fortnite. Check back with Softonic for all the latest Fortnite news, weekly challenge guides, and more.
