According to the Russos, Peter Parker does not feel guilt for what turned him into Spider-Man

Spider-Man is not Peter Parker and Spider-Man wasn’t until Uncle Ben died. If Marvel has done anything systematically, it is to clearly define Peter’s story regarding this. How becoming a hero is not only due to Uncle Ben’s legacy, but also because of the guilt of not having done the right thing and being able to have prevented his unjust death. How becoming a hero is not only due to Uncle Ben’s legacy, but also because of the guilt of not having done the right thing and being able to have prevented his unjust death.

Uncle Ben has died, but it wasn’t that big of a deal

According to Joe Russo, one of the directors of Avengers and part of the Russo Brothers duo, “in our heads, he was not responsible for Uncle Ben’s death,” he said about Peter Parker, “if he blamed himself for his Uncle Ben’s death, he would be a very different character.” Basically denying the narrative that has been developed by comics for decades as well as the most popular adaptation of the character until the arrival of the MCU, that of the 90s animated series.

That doesn’t mean the Russos are wrong. Simply, their version of Spider-Man does not feel the guilt that other versions of the character do. Something that gives it a particular character and personality, defining it as a different character than that of the comics or other adaptations. Which is probably one of the reasons for the current popularity of their movies, of which we will have the next one, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, on July 31.

In a recent turn of events, Jon Favreau has publicly admitted that he was wrong to warn the Russo brothers about the death of Tony Stark/Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame. During an interview, Favreau acknowledged that he feared the death of the iconic character could negatively impact the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but now he reflects on that decision with a sense of hindsight.

I didn’t want to see Mr. Stark die

Jon Favreau, known for his crucial role in the beginning of the MCU, was the director of the first Iron Man movie in 2008, where he made a groundbreaking choice by selecting Robert Downey Jr. to portray Stark. This casting not only redefined the actor’s career but also laid the groundwork for a franchise that has achieved unprecedented global impact in the entertainment industry.

The collaboration between Favreau and the Russo brothers has been remarkable in the MCU, with their joint work on iconic productions such as Avengers: Endgame and Iron Man 2. Both films have played a significant role in the ongoing narrative of the universe, and the Russo’s decision to eliminate Stark was crucial in closing the arc of a character that has become central in contemporary superhero stories.

Favreau now sees Iron Man’s death not only as a necessary closure for the character but also as a risky move that ultimately helped elevate the series to new emotional heights. This reflection also opens the debate about character evolution in cinema and the need for drastic transformations to maintain audience interest. As the MCU continues to expand, the creative decisions made in past productions will continue to resonate in future stories. Favreau may now support Stark’s sacrifice, but his initial warning reveals the complexities faced in storytelling in a world where audience expectations are increasingly high.

The second season of ‘Citadel’, one of Prime Video’s biggest bets, will premiere on May 6. This spy thriller with elements of science fiction, created by the Russo brothers, has been highly anticipated after a long wait of three years since the end of the first season.

You have an appointment with Citadel

The new episodes will continue the story of Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh, two elite spies belonging to a destroyed agency. Together with Orlick, they must recruit an unlikely new team to dismantle a global conspiracy with the potential to change the course of humanity. This plot promises to intensify the suspense and intrigue in a universe where the espionage agencies Citadel and Manticore are engaged in a global war.

Despite the fact that during these three years two spin-offs were produced, ‘Citadel: Diana’ and ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, both were canceled, leaving the continuity of the franchise in an uncertain state. However, Prime Video seeks to keep the flame of ‘Citadel’ alive, and with this new season, the platform seems to wish to correct its course, offering a new preview and keeping the attention of fans unhappy with the cancellation of the additional projects.

The cast returns with Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Stanley Tucci as the main characters, also highlighting the inclusion of new faces like Jack Reynor and Matt Berry. Additionally, Lesley Manville and Ahsleigh Cummings will be returning.

With the premiere date in sight, many are wondering if the second season will meet the high expectations that have been generated around this production. The combination of an attractive cast and an ambitious narrative seems to be the key to reviving the ‘Citadel’ franchise with strength.

This return was met with great anticipation from the actor, who expressed his excitement at sharing the moment with fans. However, the audience’s reaction turned out to be notably more subdued than expected. In an interview, Cox revealed his disappointment at not hearing cheers or applause in the theater, unlike other standout moments in the film, which contrasts with the usual prior euphoria of the American audience.

I expected more

Despite the comparisons to other iconic returns, such as those of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Cox’s appearance did not resonate in the room as anticipated. “My nephew sent me a recording of how the audience cheered, but in the end, my experience was one of absolute silence,” the actor commented, making it clear the disconnect between his enthusiasm and that of some viewers. This has led some analysts to speculate about the varied reception of the character among the current MCU audience.

However, it is expected that the character of Matt Murdock will make more appearances in future projects, including the upcoming Avengers movies, under the direction of the Russo brothers. This possibility has renewed the interest of fans, who, despite the lukewarm reaction to No Way Home, trust that Daredevil will be treated with the dignity and development he deserves on the big screen.

It is expected that with these new projects, the character can regain the recognition it deserves and capture the attention of both old fans and a new generation of viewers within the MCU.

A disappointing year for Marvel

The four teasers presented, which include stories and hints about the upcoming movie, have generated comments online, but most opinions are critical of the directors, the Russo brothers.Fans have recalled that, despite their cryptic approach, it is still a Marvel movie, and many question the effectiveness of the implicit messages they have tried to communicate.

The latest teaser showed key characters like Shuri and the inhabitants of Wakanda interacting with The Thing from the Fantastic Four, which has led the Russo brothers to state on Instagram that what fans have been seeing are not mere teasers or trailers, but stories and clues. This statement has raised more questions than answers and has generated speculation about its true meaning.

The reactions on social media have been varied, and while some argue that each teaser represents vital stages in the narrative of the Marvel universe, most remain skeptical about the franchise’s ability to recover. The concern about the focus on quantity over quality persists, and many wonder if Marvel will be able to revitalize its image or if it will face a spectacular end, similar to the impact of Mjolnir in its stories.

This development has sparked speculation about the multiversal nature of the film, as it could establish unexpected connections between different cinematic universes.

Connections between multiverses

Recently, the directors shared an image from the set of ‘Doomsday’ on Instagram, which fueled excitement among fans. While the image was considered dull by some, more meticulous followers discovered intriguing clues in the set decoration. On the left, a letter A could be seen, suggesting the presence of the ‘Avengers’; on the right, scaffolding arranged in an X shape, hinting at the inclusion of the ‘X-Men’.

Several experts point out that this symbolism could allude to the ‘AvX’ event (Avengers vs. X-Men), a notable conflict in the comics where tensions between both groups culminate in a civil war. This context is particularly relevant, given that both teams will be involved in the plot of ‘Doomsday’, although it is also suggested that the movie could draw inspiration from Jonathan Hickman’s acclaimed run with the ‘Avengers’, which led to events like ‘Secret Wars’.

It is expected that ‘Doomsday’ will serve as a preparation for the promised multiversal conflict in ‘Secret Wars’, officially integrating the FOX universe into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Undoubtedly, this film has the potential to intertwine multiple iconic storylines, becoming a milestone in the history of the MCU and further raising fans’ expectations.

A movie that establishes the new approach of the MCU

In their recent film The Electric State, the Russo brothers have included an intriguing nod that has sparked speculation among fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During a scene, a robot can be seen reading an issue of the comic Avengers West Coast, specifically issue 56, where the phrase “the witch is back” stands out, which could hint at the return of the Scarlet Witch in future Marvel projects.

A nod to their next two movies

The directors, known for their work on Avengers: Endgame, are currently working on two highly anticipated films: Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. These projects have heightened speculation about possible connections with Scarlet Witch, a character portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen. Since her apparent death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans have been eager for her return, especially since she does not appear in the recent series Agatha All Along.

The comic that the robot is reading features Scarlet Witch switching sides and having conflicts with other heroes, which could reflect a similar change in the MCU narrative. This situation becomes even more complicated when considering that in the mentioned story, the villain Doctor Doom plays a crucial role, suggesting that there could be more cross-references between the comic stories and the movies that the Russos are about to develop.

The Russo brothers are experts at leaving subtle hints for fans, and the details in The Electric State don’t seem to be an exception. While there are no official confirmations about the return of Scarlet Witch, there may be reasons to think that the nod was intentional and could pave the way for an exciting reappearance of this popular character. “The witch has returned” may not just be a simple Easter egg, but a statement of intent for the future of the MCU.
