Konami buries the hatchet: “It would be a dream to work with Kojima again”

They asked the producer of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater if he would like to work with the original team, and his response has been revealing.

Hideo Kojima and Konami had a very bad ending. It’s not something that is a secret. Both parties were very public about it, especially by Japanese standards, where anything other than the strictest courtesy and precisely followed protocols is frowned upon. That’s why it’s surprising to see both names associated without it being to talk about the past, but about the future. But that’s exactly what just happened.

Recently, in the latest episode of the Metal Gear – Production Hotline YouTube series, the producer of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was asked if there was any possibility of some of the people involved in the original franchise returning to work on the new titles of the saga. He responded cautiously, but with more flexibility than expected.

Saying that while he was not in a position to speak on behalf of anyone outside the company, or even express how they may feel about it, he has said that there is nothing he would like more than to work with Hideo Kojima and the rest of the team again. That if that could happen, it would be like a dream come true.

Afterwards, he has also added the difficulty of that happening. That people have their own responsibilities, interests, and desires, and that the possibility of that meeting is very difficult. And that’s why they make a particular effort to do a good job. But at least, he has left a door open that until now seemed closed. That Kojima returns to work with Konami. Something that surprises and delights us equally.

In the worst moment in the history of ‘Silent Hill’, Konami announces its news trying to save the saga

Oh, 25 years have passed since that first game, and in the end, something died. Specifically, the popularity of the Konami saga… at least, until now.

I remember perfectly the first time I played ‘Silent Hill‘ on my cousin’s pirated PlayStation. There was something about that atmosphere and those polygons that made it special, unique, a horror game that was not only about jumpscares and killing, but about unraveling the mystery around the town. It has been -oh- 25 years since that first game, and in the end something died. Specifically, the popularity of the Konami saga… at least, until now.

Don’t look for me anymore, I don’t live there anymore

After the coitus interruptus that was ‘P.T.’, that demo from ten years ago that promised the definitive game of the franchise with a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, we did not venture into Silent Hill again. ‘Downpour’ was a critical and commercial failure that indicated that it was over and waiting for a resurrection. Well, it seems that it has arrived. Let’s cross our fingers.

The truth is that last year, ‘Silent Hill’ tried to do something innovative with the release of its interactive series, ‘Ascension’, but it was a terrible concept mistake that only led to sadness from its followers. At least there were the promises of the remake of the second part and other titles of which we only had the title, like ‘F’ or ‘Townfall’.

However, we have seen the light at the end of the tunnel: Konami has announced that this Thursday 30th at four in the afternoon (one in the morning in Spain) we will have a Silent Hill Transmission with news about upcoming games, the movie, and in general, the state of the franchise, including merchandising. The developers of the different ongoing games have urged us to watch it, so it seems that, finally, we will have surprises about a dying saga that has its golden opportunity to shine again… if it can do so through the fog.

Konami breaks the silence about the future of Metal Gear Solid

After years of silence, Konami seems to have news to share about Metal Gear Solid, including the possibility of a new installment.

Metal Gear is an inconceivable franchise without Hideo Kojima. The problem is that, regardless of our feelings about the Japanese creative, the license is not his. It belongs to Konami. That’s why it is expected that they will continue working on works of the franchise, with or without his approval, whether he is involved or not. Something that seems like a very real possibility, given the latest comments from the Japanese company.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 DOWNLOAD

Recently, Konami has held an event called Metal Gear Production Hotline where they have provided new information about games already released in the franchise, as well as others to come. And despite the fact that the broadcast has been exclusively in Japanese, there is very relevant information about the franchise.

First, they talked about the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, the recent collection of games from the franchise. Coming out in a state, at best, unsuitable for a collection that is supposed to be definitive, they have confirmed that they are working on fixing all the errors and problems that the game has. Specifying all those that they have already fixed and which ones are still pending to be solved, particularly regarding the Nintendo Switch and Steam versions.

The most interesting thing in this regard came in the video question and answer section. Then, the developers confirmed that they are working on Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, but the release date and the games it will contain have not yet been decided. Something that sounds, at least, strange.

About the future of the franchise, they clarified that there are currently no new Metal Gear games in production. However, it’s not due to lack of interest, but because they are focused on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 announced at the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase. In this regard, they have stated that if this remake performs well, they will consider making another remake or even a new title in the series.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC, with an estimated release date in 2024. Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 is already available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Months after its release, what has happened to ‘Silent Hill: Ascension’?

Since the first episode of ‘Ascension’ was released, Konami has found itself entangled in something much worse than fan hatred: absolute indifference.

It was launched as the next vital chapter of the ‘Silent Hill’ saga, but since the first episode of ‘Ascension’ came out, Konami has been involved in something much worse than fan hatred: absolute indifference. The web series in which we can make decisions that change the course of the game has not regained the popularity it had at its launch, back on October 31st of last year… And many believe that it has quietly died.

Silence, hills

Everything points to the fact that the number of views (or games, as you want to call them) of this project has gone in the opposite direction of “ascension”. And, in fact, after episode 8, which was released on December 21st, the developers asked Konami to slow down and release the new episodes more calmly in order to have weekends off. The classic “If no one cares, at least leave us alone”.

And although initially the game was supposed to last six months (each quarter a “game” with different decisions), it is most likely going to be extended to ten so that the creatives can sleep peacefully. But it will not be removed from the Internet even if there are only 5000 people interested around the world for a simple reason: it is already done, and it only needs to be implemented according to the users’ decisions. It will go down in history as one of the most cursed projects in the franchise. And with Kojima’s Silent Hills out there, frankly, it’s commendable.

Bloober Team breaks their silence about Silent Hill 2 Remake

Bloober Team breaks its silence on Silent Hill 2 Remake, ensuring that when there is something to know we will know it… although not from them

Among the most anticipated horror games is a remake. Silent Hill 2 is a game everyone is eagerly awaiting, but there doesn’t seem to be any information available. Since its announcement in October 2022, there hasn’t been any new information about this remake of Konami’s classic being developed by Bloober Team. At least, not until now, when they’ve decided to break their silence.

The development studio behind this remake, Bloober Team, has released a statement to clarify that the progress of the Silent Hill 2 remake is proceeding exactly as they had hoped. The Polish developer, responsible for beloved titles like Layers of Fear and Observer, as well as titles not as well-received like The Medium and Blair Witch, has expressed an understanding that many gamers are eagerly awaiting news about this title, but the game is not yet ready.

Furthermore, they wanted to emphasize the responsibilities of each party involved. They handle the development, while the license remains with Konami. This means that when there is information to share, it will be Konami, as the publisher, who will share it when the time comes. Meanwhile, what Bloober Team has promised is that “the wait will be worth it.”

This concern has arisen because of the time that has passed since the last news update, causing many players to express their worries about the game’s future. Especially considering that one of the projects announced during the conference where Silent Hill 2 was announced, Silent Hill: Ascension, didn’t turn out particularly well.

What we know for sure is that Silent Hill 2 is in development for PC and PlayStation 5, with it being a timed exclusive for this console for a year. However, it still doesn’t have a release date.

Hideo Kojima does not appear in the credits of the Metal Gear Solid Collection, but why? We explain it to you

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection hasn’t credited Hideo Kojima, but there’s no big conspiracy behind it, really.

It is public knowledge that the relationship between Konami and Hideo Kojima is not the best in the world. The Japanese studio and the creative mind severed ties in a very public and acrimonious manner, even if the specific details of their split never fully came to light. That’s why it shouldn’t surprise us if people choose to scrutinize everything both parties do concerning Metal Gear, even when hasty conclusions are drawn in that regard.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 DOWNLOAD

On October 24th, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will be released, a compilation that includes the first three Metal Gear Solid games and the first two Metal Gear games for all current consoles and PC. Due to some people receiving copies of the game ahead of time, gameplay footage has been seen on streaming platforms like Twitch. This has led to a discovery that shouldn’t be surprising to anyone: Hideo Kojima is not credited in the collection.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection includes credits for everyone who worked on the ports of these iconic games created by Kojima and his team, with a final acknowledgment to “the entire original Metal Gear series team and the fans.” This has sparked outrage among many, but also some misinformation from some individuals.

Although it might be stated otherwise in many places, Konami has not removed Hideo Kojima from the credits. Each of the individual games still has its own credits, listing the original team of each game, including Kojima. Therefore, Hideo Kojima is still credited as the director in each and every one of them.

That doesn’t mean it’s not inappropriate to omit him from the credits of the collection as the original creator of the game. As the mastermind behind the entire franchise, not giving him recognition seems out of place, but Konami has the right not to do so, even if it’s in poor taste. Therefore, while it would be easy to react with shock, this isn’t another attack by Konami on Kojima; it’s simply an example of the often terrible internal policies that most companies in the industry have. Policies from which not even someone like Kojima is exempt.

Have the games for Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2 been leaked? It seems so

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 just came out, but dataminers have already discovered which games are likely to appear in its volume 2

Today, October 24th, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection has been released. Amidst various controversies, considerable interest, and the debate over whether Hideo Kojima appears in the credits or not, this compilation of the main games in the franchise up to Metal Gear Solid 3 has already hit the shelves. Consequently, it has also made its way into the hands of many users. This has allowed the most adept among them to delve into its depths to discover if there is more information than what we know. Something whose answer seems to be yes.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 DOWNLOAD

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection uses a hub from which each game is installed separately. It is not, therefore, a single game. As its name suggests, it is a collection. This means that dataminers, individuals who examine the code of games to uncover their intricacies, have been able to find clues about the future volumes. Discovering explicit references to other installments in the series that are not the ones we already know.

In this way, via Wario64, we have learned that, at least in the Switch version, there are references to seven different games. Their names are MG12, MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, MGS5, and MGSPW. MG12 refers to Metal Gear 1 and 2 from MSX, and MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3 are the first three installments of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, included in this first volume of the Master Collection. Therefore, it is not difficult to conclude, nor was it hard to infer, that the second volume will include Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Solid 5. The inclusion of the former is especially noteworthy, as it was never released on any other console or platform other than PlayStation 3.

Now, some people might wonder what MGSPW refers to. The answer is simple: it stands for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. This installment of the franchise was originally published for PSP and takes place between Metal Gear Solid 3 and 5. It laid the groundwork for what the latter would achieve in the epic conclusion of the saga.

Therefore, if confirmed, this would provide a solid foundation for a second volume of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection. However, to truly be the definitive collection we need, a third volume would be necessary. This volume should include, at the very least, the Game Boy game, the remaining PSP games, and the exceptional Metal Gear Rising.

Do you like to dance but don’t have space in your house? Dance Dance Revolution has a solution at your fingertips

Dance Dance Revolution returns with a homemade version designed so that we dance not with our feet, but in a more original way: with our fingers

Dancing is a natural impulse. Everyone is inclined to dance, even subconsciously, because it’s a part of our being. It’s not something we consciously control. The right rhythm, well-thought-out percussion, and perhaps we won’t break into ecstatic dance, but it will be hard not to at least move our head, foot, or hand. But many people who do enjoy dancing don’t have the space to do it. And now, thanks to Dance Dance Revolution and having at least one hand, they will have a way to do so.

This year, Dance Dance Revolution, the legendary dance machine, turns 25, and to celebrate, Zuiki is crowdfunding a miniature version of the game to be played with your fingers. Its price is 43,780 yen, which is approximately 280 euros, and you can contribute to the crowdfunding campaign starting next week on Kibidango.

If you’re not familiar with Dance Dance Revolution, it’s an arcade video game born in 1998 from the hands of Konami. Developed as part of the Bemani series, which also includes musical games like Beatmania and Pop’n Music, Dance Dance Revolution is a rhythm video game with a distinctive feature: we must play it with our feet. With four arrows pointing forward, backward, left, and right, we have to synchronize our steps with what happens on the screen to maintain the combo for as long as possible.

Dance Dance Revolution has spread over the decades through numerous arcades, in addition to many home versions, featuring plastic dance mats designed to be played at home. With 22 games in its main series alone, not to mention all its spin-offs, including its extremely popular collaborations with Disney, it is one of the most popular rhythm games in history.

Dance Dance Revolution Classic Mini is a 1/5 scale replica of the original arcade machine for two players, fully playable but only with fingers. Featuring a built-in LCD screen but also capable of connecting to an external display via HDMI, it’s a fantastic way for fans and enthusiasts of this franchise to relive or continue their passion for one of the most popular games in arcades worldwide, even if many people didn’t even know its name until now.

The Xbox 360 Missed Out on Metal Gear Solid 4 Due to Physical Constraints

Metal Gear Solid 4 was able to come out on Xbox 360, but the limitations of DVD and the refusal to have multiple discs made it impossible.

Metal Gear Solid 4 has always been believed to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive due to the limitations of the Xbox 360, but it’s something that has never been proven. Until now. In “The Ultimate History of Video Games Vol 2” by Steven L. Kent, assistant producer Ryan Payton has stated that there was no exclusivity deal to make Metal Gear Solid 4 appear only on Sony’s console. The decision by Konami was solely based on the choice of disc format for the Microsoft console.

Playstation App DOWNLOAD

While Sony decided to fully embrace Blu-ray for the PlayStation 3 by including an integrated Blu-ray player in the console, Microsoft took a more cautious approach with the Xbox 360 by including a standard DVD drive and offering a separate HD DVD add-on. As we all know, the format war was ultimately won by Blu-ray, giving Sony the upper hand and positioning the PlayStation 3 as a multimedia platform in addition to a gaming console, thanks to its larger storage capacity compared to its competitors.

In fact, that’s exactly what happened with Metal Gear Solid 4. While a port was technically possible, it was not practical on a physical level. The PlayStation 3 games utilized Blu-ray discs with a capacity of up to 54 gigabytes, while the Xbox 360 DVDs could only hold up to 8.3 gigabytes. This would have required splitting the game across multiple discs, which Konami’s executives were not willing to do.

Additionally, there were individuals within the studio who had a strong preference for Sony and the PlayStation brand in general. This, combined with the technical limitations and the impracticality of creating a multi-disc version, made the port not only unfeasible but outright impossible. There was no one at Konami willing to fight that battle to bring the game to the Microsoft console.

That’s why, if it never materialized, it wasn’t due to any exclusivity contracts or pressure from Sony. It was simply due to the business decisions and preferences of the development studio. This is something that often plays a bigger role in such decisions than the money or deals that any industry giants may offer.
