Naruto returns in a crossover that we never saw coming

Naruto will have a totally unexpected crossover with the Ninja Turtles that, although we still don’t know the details, it won’t take long to see.

Although Naruto ended a few years ago, its impact remains intact. Partly thanks to the serialization of Boruto, which follows the adventures of his son with the same name, and partly because it is a manga and an anime that has had a great impact on an entire generation. That’s why it’s not surprising that it continues to appear everywhere, including having crossovers with other comic book characters, some of which are also ninjas. Although, let’s be honest: we didn’t see this crossover coming.

IDW Publishing has confirmed that they will release a crossover between Naruto and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in October. Although we don’t have many details about the series, we do know that there will be both a physical and digital version, and that the cover art is done by Jorge Jimenez. Entitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto, it will be a miniseries; all other details are yet to be confirmed—including the writers, the artists (if they are different from Jimenez), and the story of the comic itself.

This will be the first time that Naruto and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cross paths. Although official crossovers by manga characters are not common, the Ninja Turtles have already fought with or against numerous other comic book characters, so it’s not a surprise on that front. What the relationship between this unlikely group will be is something we will have to wait until October to see, although it’s hard to imagine how Naruto couldn’t feel at home among a group of outcasts addicted to eating pizza and helping the homeless.

In collaboration with Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, the publisher Outright Games has announced that they are working on a video game based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Although we don’t have much information about the game yet, we do know that gameplay will focus on teamwork among the turtles and that it will be set a few months after the events of the movie. Furthermore, it will stay true to the movie’s sense of humor and aesthetics and will include characters from the franchise that did not appear in the film.

While they may not be widely known, Outright Games is a publisher and studio specializing in creating video games aimed at the children’s audience. Having worked with licenses such as Adventure Time, Paw Patrol, or Justice League, they produce solid games that tend to perform well in stores.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem game will be released in 2024 with versions for PC and consoles, although we don’t yet know which platforms specifically. And if, for some reason, you want more Ninja Turtles or a darker and more adult version of them, remember that there is a game from THQ Nordic recently announced that will adapt the graphic novel The Last Ronin. So, fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, whether young or old, have something to look forward to in the future.

Nostalgia Meets Gameplay: THQ Nordic Drops News of Upcoming Video Game Starring Comic Book Legends

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are going to have a video game adaptation, following the darkest and most popular comic they’ve had in recent times.

Something we wouldn’t have expected not too many years ago is that the Ninja Turtles would become relevant in the world of comics. In addition to reprinting the original comics and having a modern collection that can compete in quality with the best of Marvel and DC, one Ninja Turtles title in particular has managed to create a sensation among fans and non-fans alike. One that, moreover, has today been officially announced to have a video game adaptation.

THQ Nordic has announced that it is developing an adaptation of The Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. Showing a very brief trailer, where you can see nothing more than the title itself, some candles going out and a very Japanese style, they wanted to leave us with long teeth.

Fortunately, that’s not all we know. Particularly since the comic has achieved great popularity since its release. In a dystopian future, three of the four ninja turtles have died and the survivor, dressing and arming herself as a ninja, decides to take revenge on those who have murdered her brothers and brought the world to the brink of collapse. Scripted by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz and Peter Laid, and drawn by Esau Escorza, Isaac Escorza, Ben Bishop and Kevin Eastman, this is a dark, hard-boiled comic that bears many similarities to the original Ninja Turtles comics. All this in five issues, compiled in a single volume published in Spain by ECC.

We also know a few details about the game. It will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. It will closely follow the story of this surviving ninja turtle seeking revenge in war-torn New York and the game will be a third-person RPG action game inspired by the two most recent titles in the God of War franchise.

Does all this sound good? Well, we have some bad news. Don’t expect it to come out soon. The game still has a few years to go before its release, something that is confirmed by the total absence of any kind of date in the trailer. Something that leaves us with long teeth and eager to sink our teeth into this game that promises to give much to talk about in the future.
