In 2021, the company NPIXEL released Gran Saga, an MMORPG that became a resounding success. Not only one of the most popular games of its kind in all of Asia, but one of the most played in general. With a great emphasis on its characters and narrative development, it stands out for being a mobile game with high-quality 3DCG anime-style graphics. And now we can enjoy it in the West.

As announced, Gran Saga will arrive in the West on October 30th worldwide. This is not something that catches us by surprise because, in fact, the studio had already announced its intention to release it globally. That was in 2023, when they said their intention was to expand beyond Asia, but we hadn’t heard anything else about it. Until now, finally, they have given us a concrete release date. ‘ArcheAge’ is a Korean MMORPG that was born on January 15, 2013 and, paradoxically, has closed in Europe and North America on June 27, eleven years after its launch. On the other hand, this is not the first MMORPG made for Game of Thrones. Not even the second. One called Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms was in development for ten years, only to be cancelled. Another one, called Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming, was released on March 15th, being a critical and commercial failure, with a mix of strategy game and MMORPG.

Being responsible for the game, Nexon, seeing the success of The Finals, there is no doubt that this game has a higher chance of being successful. The problem is that, despite the franchise continuing with House of the Dragon, we will have to see if the same enthusiasm for the franchise that has existed so far still exists when it is released. Although, considering the pace at which George R.R. Martin writes, it seems doubtful that his fans will stop craving more.
