The price of Sony’s PlayStation VR2 virtual reality device will be reduced to 449.99 euros starting in March, representing a discount of 100 euros from its original price. The company announced this decision through its official PlayStation blog, although it did not specify an exact date for the change, stating that the update may vary by country or region.
At this price, it’s worth considering
Since its launch in February 2023, the PS VR2 has experienced a series of promotions that have led to an astonishing 2,350% increase in sales in the United States. This remarkable rise has sparked a renewed interest in the product, especially regarding the future capabilities of the new PSSR upscaling system, which was introduced with the PS5 Pro.
Sony seems to be changing its strategy by opting for a permanent price reduction, leaving behind previous temporary offers. This decision aims to attract more players to the PlayStation virtual reality experience, in a context where competition with Meta is intensifying. The Japanese company is working on incorporating new VR experiences to capture the interest of a broader audience.
Meanwhile, the commercial performance of the PS5 Pro, launched in November 2025, has been the subject of analysis, as although it started with a strong launch, it has not maintained the same sales pace compared to its predecessor, the PS4 Pro, during the same period in the United States. As Sony adjusts prices and strategies, it remains to be seen how both the PS VR2 and the PS5 Pro will perform in the market in the coming months.
