Despite its long-standing popularity, Sonic has faced significant ups and downs throughout its history, especially during the 2000s, when titles like Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) and Sonic and the Secret Rings disappointed fans. However, in 2010, Sonic Colors emerged as a ray of hope, revitalizing the franchise with a gaming experience that honored its roots.
Recently, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, a remastered version of the original Wii game, has arrived on PlayStation Plus, offering updated graphics and gameplay improvements. This release is a perfect opportunity to rediscover the virtues of the game, which focuses on the speed and agility of the iconic blue hedgehog. The fluid gameplay allows players to switch between third-person perspectives and side-scrolling, capturing the essence of the classic Sonic installments.
The story, funny and somewhat absurd, revolves around the creation of an amusement park in space by the infamous Doctor Eggman, who intends to enslave a race of aliens called Wisps to harness their power. Each Wisp grants Sonic special abilities based on its color, adding layers of strategy to the levels and allowing players to discover secrets and alternative routes, thus increasing replay value.
With the resurgence of titles like Sonic Colors, Sega and the team behind Sonic could find a model to follow, based on the solid design and focus on gameplay that resonated with fans. This renewed interest in gameplay mechanics could inspire future releases, aiming to reclaim the greatness of the blue hedgehog in new adventures. Ultimately, Sonic Colors: Ultimate promises to be an experience that will delight both new players and veterans looking to relive the magic of the past.
The price of Sony’s PlayStation VR2 virtual reality device will be reduced to 449.99 euros starting in March, representing a discount of 100 euros from its original price. The company announced this decision through its official PlayStation blog, although it did not specify an exact date for the change, stating that the update may vary by country or region. At this price, it’s worth considering. Since its launch in February 2023, the PS VR2 has experienced a series of promotions that have led to an astonishing 2,350% increase in sales […]

The company announced this decision through its official PlayStation blog, although it did not specify an exact date for the change, stating that the update may vary by country or region.
Since its launch in February 2023, the PS VR2 has experienced a series of promotions that have led to an astonishing 2,350% increase in sales in the United States. This remarkable rise has sparked a renewed interest in the product, especially regarding the future capabilities of the new PSSR upscaling system, which was introduced with the PS5 Pro.
Sony seems to be changing its strategy by opting for a permanent price reduction, leaving behind previous temporary offers. This decision aims to attract more players to the PlayStation virtual reality experience, in a context where competition with Meta is intensifying. The Japanese company is working on incorporating new VR experiences to capture the interest of a broader audience.
Meanwhile, the commercial performance of the PS5 Pro, launched in November 2025, has been the subject of analysis, as although it started with a strong launch, it has not maintained the same sales pace compared to its predecessor, the PS4 Pro, during the same period in the United States. As Sony adjusts prices and strategies, it remains to be seen how both the PS VR2 and the PS5 Pro will perform in the market in the coming months.

This rewards system has increased the loyalty of frequent PSN players, as each purchase contributes to potential savings on future transactions. As experts mention, Every little bit helps, highlighting the importance of participating in these campaigns to maximize the value of digital purchases on Sony’s platform.
The launch of the PS5 Pro has generated extensive debate in the gaming community, especially due to its high price of 799.99 euros, to which additional costs such as 130 euros for the Blu-ray unit and other expenses are added, raising concerns about its accessibility, as many gamers cannot afford this outlay. This high price has led some to wonder how the price of future consoles, such as the PS6, will be affected. Even with discounts, this price is exorbitant for the wallets of many gamers.
Even with discounts, this price is exorbitant for the wallets of many players
The initial forecasts regarding the commercial success of the PS5 Pro have proven to be incorrect. According to analyst Mat Piscatella, the impact of the PS5 Pro on the market has been significantly lower than that of the PS4 Pro, evidenced by the fact that sales figures, now grouped without model breakdown, do not show the expected performance. After nearly four months on the market and with the holiday season on the horizon, concerns are beginning to arise about the viability of the new console.
In an attempt to boost sales, Sony has started offering discounts and promotions that include gifts like the vertical stand and the Blu-ray unit, suggesting that the results have not been positive. This strategy has led some analysts to point out that consumers are becoming increasingly skeptical about the prices of the new generation of consoles, especially considering the cost of the PS6, which could follow a similar trend if it does not meet market expectations.
With an uncertain future and a console market that feels more competitive, players are on alert. The PS5 Pro, whose high price has discouraged many, raises the question of whether Sony can reverse this trend before considering the launch of its next console.
Astro Bot has not only taken the gaming world by surprise, but also Sony, who expected success, but not of this magnitude. At this point it is a very serious contender for game of the year. How could they not be happy at PlayStation?
Hermen Hulst, who has just been chosen as CEO of PlayStation recently, is very proud of what he has achieved (although perhaps not so much for the response to the PS5 Pro, but that’s another matter). For now, Hulst believes it is a “huge” game and has commented that “it is one of the best in the genre, with a player base ranging from younger players to those of my age.”
If you wonder about his age, it’s not exactly known, but we can estimate around 45. It’s clear that he likes Astro Bot and believes that the future of the console lies in this franchise: “Astro is very, very important for PlayStation. Obviously, we had it pre-installed on PS5, which millions and millions of players embraced and loved, and I think it has become a platform to launch this new game“.
Will we ever see an Astro Bot made by a team of hundreds of people? Will we have more family games from Sony, facing off against Nintendo? For now, Hulst doesn’t give anything away, but he affirms that “I think it’s very important for PlayStation studios to develop games in various genres, and the family market is very important to us.” Exciting things are coming.
The price of PS5 Pro is absolutely crazy. We can all agree on that, right? There is no one who can see this three digit number and think it’s fair. Nobody thinks our generation is so full of great games that it needs a little more power to fully enjoy them. And besides, as many have pointed out, the problem is underlying, and it’s aimed at creating consumption habits: this model doesn’t have a disc drive.
Of course, there are always solutions: if you want to play physical games, you can buy a separate disc reader for 80 euros (and yes, the same one works for the PS5 Digital, something is something). People, who are already quite angry about having to spend a whopping 800 euros, do not want to have to pay for something that could (and honestly, should) be included in the console.
But we have no choice. Faced with the attempt to impose digital games (which, let’s remember, cannot be resold or lent to a friend), players have reacted by depleting the PS5 disc drives, just in case. After all, the fact that it is backward compatible is one of the most appreciated things about this new (not so new anymore) generation.
On September 26th, PS5 Pro will finally be available for pre-order, and a few are already trying to take advantage by reselling the disc readers at exorbitant prices. Don’t fall for it: they will release it again (they are not in a position to deny the public what they want, for once) and you will be able to enjoy those extra pixels and those frame rates that the human eye is not capable of noticing. And enjoy like a pro!
Oh, yes, and then it’s time to buy the stand to put the console upright. At an additional cost, of course. Let’s see if not.
Luca Galante, also known as poncle, has confirmed that Vampire Survivors will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 29th. This highly anticipated title, which won the awards for best game and best design at the BAFTA Games Awards in 2023, combines shooting and roguelite elements, offering minimalist and highly addictive gameplay. At launch, players will be able to enjoy the latest updates, which include over 40 playable characters and 80 different weapons.
The base game will have a price of $4.99, while the four downloadable content (DLC) packs will be sold separately, with prices ranging from $1.99 to $2.49. The available DLCs are Legacy of the Moonspell, Tides of the Foscari, Emergency Meeting (an Among Us-inspired DLC), and Operation Guns (inspired by Contra).
In Vampire Survivors, you will take control of a survivor who must…well, just that: survive numerous waves of enemies, thanks to the weapons and abilities you will obtain as you level up, defeat enemies, or the environment itself.
By reaching goals, such as surviving x minutes on a map or eliminating x number of enemies, you will unlock weapons, upgrades, and survivors to face the demons. However, be careful: with Vampire Survivors, you know when you start, but not when you finish.
“In the end, we decided on a level-based approach because it gave us more control over the variety of the game,” says Nicolas Doucet, the studio director. And thank goodness for that.
The world of video games has always evolved with a “see it to believe it” mentality. If ‘Fortnite’ succeeds with a free online game with seasons, then everyone else tries to do the same. If ‘Skyrim’ achieves incredible success with an open world, even ‘The Legend of Zelda’ tries to follow in its footsteps. However, fortunately, there are always games that resist, those that refuse to force themselves to adapt to market trends if what they want to convey is something different.
It is the case of ‘Astro Bot’, the game for PS5 that serves as a sequel to the fantastic ‘Astro’s Playground’ that came installed on the console, a platform game with hundreds of references to the history of Sony’s console that managed to get the most out of the controller (showing everything it was capable of doing and whose witness, of course, no one has taken). And it is that, at first, they considered that this second part would be, of course, an open world.
“In the end, we decided to adopt a level-based approach, because it gave us more control over the variety of the game,” says Nicolas Doucet, the studio director. And thanks to that, because it’s something so unique that it could break if the formula is completely changed. Furthermore, in the same interview, he explains how the alchemy of creating such an innovative platform game works and how it never feels repetitive.
“We don’t stretch any mechanism until it becomes repetitive. We only give enough to make you want more and then move on to something else. We want to be fresh, always surprise the viewer”. ‘Astro bot’ will be released on September 6th and they have already announced that it will be updated with new DLC that will take controller precision to the extreme. Please and thank you.
At Sony, they are perfectly aware that this is the time for long games that you might not try otherwise, and in July, they have added several remarkable games to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. Let’s take a look.

Normally we all associate summer with the beach, the sun, trips, joy, and first loves… but the truth is that most of the time, while all this is not happening, we simply spend time playing console video games. At Sony they are perfectly aware that this is the time for long games that you might not try otherwise, and in July they have added several games for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium that are worth mentioning. Let’s take a look.
This is the prequel to ‘Final Fantasy VII’ in HD version, with all the voices, a new soundtrack and the possibility to know what happened before the classic that we all know very well. Here we follow Zack Fair, who has become a regular in the franchise (the last time we saw him was actually in ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’). In its day, ‘Crisis Core’ was the most important release for PSP and it’s worth rescuing. You already have half of July solved.
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes Complete Edition
If you were looking for games with simple and short titles, this is not your month. But this version of ‘No More Heroes’ is equally essential, whether you have played the original or not. In this part, instead of having the usual perspective of the saga, you will play from a top-down view, in the style of ‘Hotline Miami’. It may feel strange at first, but you will quickly get the hang of shooting with Travis. In addition, it includes all the DLC and is essential to fully understand its next installment. Which, oh coincidence…
This month on PS Plus, they have gone all out, giving you hours of fun, blood, and shooting with the latest installment of the franchise, with a completely unhinged (in a good way) Suda51 and leaving the door open for the inevitable fourth part. And since you don’t want to be the one who doesn’t know absolutely anything in a few years, this is the moment to catch up. They have never made it easier for you, right?
Remnant II
It came out exactly a year ago and if you still haven’t gotten your hands on this third-person shooter with touches of RPG, this is your moment. Creatures that want to kill you all over the screen, terrifyingly huge gods, and you armed with all kinds of weapons. You decide. Enjoy it alone or in cooperative mode with up to two other friends. A word of warning: this is not an easy game, but it is very satisfying. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
Less known than the previous games but equally interesting is this prelude to ‘Mount & Blade’, a mix of strategy, action and RPG that in 2020 became the biggest success of the year on Steam. It’s ambitious, it’s beautiful, it hooks anyone and you would make a big mistake this summer if you overlook it. You’ll thank us later.
By the way! PS Plus Extra and Premium also add the following games: ‘The Jackbox Party Pack 9’, ‘Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous’, ‘Deadcraft’ and ‘Steep’, while exclusively in Premium you will find classics and PSVR2 games like ‘Job Simulator’, ‘Summoner’, ‘Ratchet & Clank Size Matters’ and ‘Jeanne D’Arc’. The summer is all yours. Take advantage of it with a controller in your hands!
Apparently, Sony has said that the server was constantly experiencing issues, and the decision has been made to shut it down without looking back.
There was a time, when the Internet was starting to reach consoles, where everything seemed possible. New worlds, thousands of people playing at the same time, servers with endless power, maps and maps to spend hours in an eternal gameplay. And then, the cruel reality came: the consoles that were left behind have gradually been left without online functions and you can’t even play a sad Mario Kart on the 3DS anymore. That’s how it is.
The latest to suffer this cut, and also abruptly and without prior notice, has been ‘Little Big Planet 3’. The servers for this game for PS4 have closed “indefinitely” (that is, forever), leaving millions of creations uploaded to the cloud completely lost. Apparently, Sony has said that the server was constantly causing problems and the decision has been to turn it off without looking back.
The game has lasted a more than honorable ten years, but if any new player was looking forward to getting into user-generated levels, I’m afraid they will encounter a constant error on their screen. Luckily, you can still play all the levels you have downloaded, as well as create them offline for yourself. But without being able to share them with anyone, of course. Half the fun, down the drain.
The truth is that after this third part ‘Little Big Planet’ fell into oblivion, with an unexpected return in 2020, where a spin-off of Sackboy, its protagonist, appeared… and a mobile endless running game also starring him. And there doesn’t seem to be any indication that PS5 will surprise us with a ‘Little Big Planet 4’. There is still room for cuteness at Sony. We cross our fingers very tightly: maybe this ending is just a new beginning.
