5 Reasons To Come Back to Pokémon Go

The summer Pokémon Go came out was the closest we’ve ever come to world peace. Thousands of players from across the world ventured outside to battle gyms, to catch wild Pokémon, and to talk smack about opposing teams. The game was downloaded over 800 million times, and the resulting Pokémania attracted everybody from senior citizens to toddlers to longtime Pokémon veterans. That summer, if you saw somebody walking and making upwards swiping motions with their phone, you could pretty much guarantee they were playing Pokémon Go. Despite the massive initial success of the game, within a few months, the game fell out of mainstream popularity, with some dismissing it as a fad. The dropoff is mostly attributed to technical issues that plagued the game at launch, as well as a lack of in-game content.

However, developer Niantic has really stepped up their game and it shows. Not only are most of the technical issues gone, but many new features have been added to the game. So if you have deleted the game since the summer of 2016 We highly recommend you give it another try. Below are our favorite new features:

New Pokémon

While the original 151 Pokémon are certainly the most recognizable, later games brought hundreds of unique and memorable new Pokémon. Pokémon Go now features Pokémon from generations 2 and 3 (Gold & Silver and Ruby & Sapphire respectively). If you’re sick of seeing the same old Rattatas and Pidgeys, fear not, because you can now catch old favorites like Mudkip, Torchic, Totodile, and Lugia.

Trading and Friends

Trading, one of the most heavily requested features of the game, is finally here. In order to train with somebody, you first need to add them as a friend using their Trainer Code. Once you’re friends with somebody you can trade Pokémon as long as you’re close by. In addition to being able to trade Pokémon, friends can earn unique bonuses and send each other Gifts. Gifts are unique items found by spinning Pokéstops that can be sent to friends once a day. Within these gifts, you can even find Alolan Pokémon eggs. These will hatch into Alolan Pokémon, which resemble generation 1 Pokémon but feature different colors, typing, and stats. Additionally, when friends play the game together they can earn bonuses, such as extra attack power while fighting gyms.

Raids and Legendary Pokémon

Using items called Raid Passes, players can fight powerful Pokémon in raids. Raids are found at Pokémon Gyms, in which strong Pokémon emerge from eggs at predetermined times. These Raid Pokémon can be fought by teams of up to 20 people (which is sometimes necessary, I once found a Ho-Oh that had a CP of 50,000). Many of these Raid Pokémon are legendaries from generations 1-3, including Mewtwo, Groudon, Kyogre, and Zapdos. Beating these Raids gives each player a chance to catch the Pokémon they fought. You only get 10 balls to throw, and these Raids are your only chance to catch these legendary Pokémon, so throw carefully!

Community Days and other events

For a few hours on one day every month, Niantic hosts in-game Community Days. If you play the game during these active hours you can receive a slew of bonuses, including reduced egg hatching distance, Pokémon with exclusive moves, and free 3 hour lures. Additionally, these Community Days are the easiest way to obtain Shiny Pokémon, with last month’s Community Day featuring shiny Larvitars and next month featuring shiny Snorlaxes. Other events, such as Safari Zones, are routinely announced by Niantic, so stay tuned to their social media channels to find out more.

Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee Integration

The upcoming Nintendo Switch games Let’s Go Pikachu!/Eevee! feature Pokémon Go integration. Players can transfer Pokémon caught in Go to their Switch games using a feature called the Go Park. This marks the first time that Pokémon caught in Go can be used in other games. If you’re planning on picking up Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee! We recommend stocking up on Pokémon in Go now.

Pokémon GO: Trading and Friends are finally here, how will they change things?

It’s a big moment for Niantic. Fire the confetti cannons: trading is here for Pokémon GO, and it promises to revolutionize mobile gameplay.

With this much-awaited update, Pokémon Trainers will be able to start using one of the game’s most iconic features. As you can imagine, it will now be possible to trade Pokémon with friends near you. What better opportunity to steal some regional Pokémon from your globe-trotting cousin when he returns from his trip around the world?

When trading your Pokémon, you’ll also be able to receive Candy and exclusive bonuses that will vary according to the capture distance of the two Pokémon exchanged.

Another important addition to the game is the Friends feature, which lets you connect with all your buddies and participate in Gym and Raid battles together. Specifically, you’ll now be able to send gifts to your friends to make them happy, and especially to increase your friendship level, allowing you to receive a slew of Raid and Gym battle bonuses and rewards for each level you pass.

As you can see, these two features may well change our way of playing Pokémon GO, which recently unveiled two new Shinies. To take advantage of Trading and Friends, you’ll have to wait a bit longer, specifically until the Pokémon GO Summer Tour kicks off June 30 at Safari Zone Dortmund in Germany.

New Pokémon game confirmed: Watch the trailer now

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee will be the next Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch. The games are a mix between a Pokémon Yellow sequel and remake and will hit the shelves on November 16. In more exciting news, the games will also add Pokémon Go dynamics to the action.

Players will capture Pokémon just like they do in Pokémon Go. The Pokémon will appear on the map, and then players will have to fight them catch them using their Poke Ball. To throw the Pokémon ball you simply press a button on the joy-con, give it a shake, or you can use this Christmas’ must-have gift, the Poke Ball Plus.  A cool feature of the Poke Ball Plus is that players can put a Pokémon they’ve captured on the inside the Poke Ball and then take it with them everywhere they go.

Battles in the new games will be against other coaches. They’ll follow the same turn-based dynamics players will be used to, but there is little else known about whether new features will be added before release.

Players will be able to share Pokémon or fight both locally and online. Also, Pokémon can be transferred between Pokémon Go and Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee, but there’ll be a completely new story. Team Rocket will return, and Mewtwo will be back in his cave.

The 151 Blue / Red / Yellow Pokémon will be available in the game along with the Alola variants and an all-new mysterious Pokémon.

As the titles indicate, the Initial Pokémon will be Pikachu or Eevee. You will not be able to evolve them, but you will be able to capture other wild Pikachu or Eevee and evolve them to Raichu or Jolteon / Vaporeon / Flareon. Pikachu or Eevee will accompany you on your adventure on your cap. You’ll also be able to customize them.

Another great new feature of the game is the local cooperative mode. Another player can join the adventure at any time and help you capture Pokémon and fight other coaches.

Pokémon director, and producer, Junichi Masuda is involved in the development of the game. He clarified that Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee are not the games that were announced at E3 of 2017. These games will be more classic deliveries in the style of Sun and Moon and will arrive on the Switch in the second half of 2019.

What is Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu / Let’s Go Eevee?: Information, images and rumors about the Nintendo Switch Pokémon game

“The new Pokémon game will be called Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee!” “Nintendo will reveal this Pokémon to Switch next week!” “This is the logo!” “It will be a remake of Pokémon Yellow!” “There will be elements of Pokémon Go!”

The Pokémon community is freaking out over the latest rumors. But where are they coming from? Can you trust any of them? And, by the way, what is really Pokémon Let’s Go? Below, we’ll go over the strongest evidence of this game’s existence and gradually reveal what it is… or at least what it could be.

Registered domains

The strongest evidence came out on May 16, 2018. Fans discovered that web domains for pokemonletsgoeevee.com and pokemonletsgopikachu.com had been registered. The registration took place on May 15, exactly when the rumors exploded.

If you check it out, the owner of the two domain registrations is CSC Corporate Domains, Inc. This same company registered pokemon.com back in the day and also domains for Pokémon Sun and Moon for Nintendo. This is important because it’s not just  some fan-troll registering these domains.

“What a coincidence. On the 15th, people start talking about the new Pokémon game and suddenly Nintendo decides to register domains. Why didn’t they register them before?” you may be thinking.

Something similar happened in 2016, when rumors started popping up about Pokémon Sun and Moon. Nintendo registered the domains and literally revealed the games the next day. It’s possible that the Great N delays registration to avoid raising suspicion and, when evitable leaks happen, they register the domains to prevent some clown from taking them.

Does this mean we’ll see an official announcement about Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee soon? Leaker Emily Rogers posted in the ResetERA forums that the reveal could take place next week but she doesn’t rule out Nintendo making the announcement earlier due to leaks.

The first image of the game

Last month, in April, the Twitter account @pixelpar, another specialist in leaks, posted an image of what the new Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch could be.

At first, nobody believed the image. But now it’s taken on new relevance for two reasons. The first is that the trainer has an Eevee over his head. The second reason is that some fans have realized that this photo shows a recreation of Route 21 from Pokémon  Blue / Red / Yellow.

Since the image was revealed before the rumors that Eevee would be one of the important Pokémon and before the return to Kanto, the evidence is undeniably authentic and shows the game in action. Now, whether it’s an image from the final version of the game or from its early development is another matter.

Clues from Game Freak

Some of the most important clues were in plain sight this whole time, but we didn’t realize it until now.

Junichi Masuda, the director of Game Freak, the developer behind Pokémon, had been suggesting the content of the next game for days. Check out his latest tweets:

And here we’ve got one of the most recent promotional videos:

Is this the official logo?

Another leak has been the alleged logo of the Pikachu version.

Where did this logo come from? One of the sources that has leaked it is Twitter user @pixelpar. Is he trustworthy? See for yourself below.

Pixelpar had been posting a few strange sketches on Twitter.

Pixelpar ended this series of sketches with this video explaining that the truth was hidden in these sketches:

These sketches also reveal that the game will have elements taken or inspired from Pokémon Go. Sadly, we don’t know any other details.

So, this Twitter user deserves our trust when he suddenly revealed this:

That original evidence wasn’t a joke

The first hard evidence of Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee was taken as a joke on April Fool’s Day.

Specifically, a mysterious message appeared in the shady 4chan forums. We’ve left this until the end because the rest of the evidence, which came out later, helps verify it.

The message said that the Pokémon game for Switch will be a remake of Pokémon Yellow, with two versions (Pikachu and Eevee), Blue and Red playing a role in the story, and both you and your rival as new trainers. It also said that following Pokémon will return, Hidden Machines will be replaced by Pokéride from Alola, Online mode will have a hub for players, there will be integration with Pokémon Go, capturing Pokémon will work like Go, there will be rewards for linking it with Pokémon Go and there will be a new accessory that can be used with both games.

It seems like a joke, but as you can see, all the evidence (the image of Lapras, the Blue and Red images combined with Pikachu and Eevee…) has ended up being true.

Origins of Pokémon Let’s Go

At the start of 2017, the portal Eurogamer shocked Pokémon fans by revealing that Nintendo would launch a game called Pokémon Stars for Switch. This would be an HD port of Pokémon Sun and Moon. With this port, Nintendo’s plan was that Switch would have one game from each of its three-star franchises in its first year: Mario, Zelda and Pokémon.

But in a Pokémon Direct, Nintendo announced two pseudo-expansions of Pokémon Sun and Moon for Nintendo 3DS: Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Where the heck was Stars?

Eurogamer has taken advantage of the excitement of latest rumors to clarify that, according to their sources, Nintendo decided to turn Pokémon Stars, a “simple” port, into something more ambitious: a remake/sequel of Pokémon Yellow.

In theory, since Game Freak already had models of many Pokémon in HD thanks to the Pokémon Stars development, the transition shouldn’t have been too painful. However, it’s possible that Eurogamer has come up with this explanation to try to clean up their bad image after the failed leak.

Now, patience… though you won’t need much

Now we just have to wait for Nintendo to make a move. Luckily, you won’t have to wait long. All the leakers have insisted that the reveal of the new Pokémon game is close. In theory, it could be before the end of the month. Soon enough!

Oh by the way… Pikachu or Eevee? Which one would you choose?

Zapdos comes to Pokémon Go: This is how to catch her

The time has come to catch Zapdos. Niantic has added a new series of missions to Pokémon Go. Every set of tasks, upon completion, will give you a chance to capture this legendary Pokémon bird.

Niantic hasn’t given us many details about these missions. All we know is that you’ll have to face electric and flying Pokémon (like Zapdos), including “skill-based challenges that will test your abilities as a Trainer.” You’ll have to complete this batch of missions seven times to get the chance to capture this legendary Pokémon.

If these tasks are like previous ones, there will be a lot of story-driven tasks and activities related to finding and capturing Pokémon.

Zapdos’ appearance coincides with two events. The first started on May 14 and focuses on the fighting type of Pokémon, such as Machop and Makuhita: their encounter rate will go up and users will be rewarded with double experience when they participate in gym and raid battles.

Then, on May 19, we’ll have another event where players can get triple Stardust and the spawn rate of Charmander will go up.

Oh and don’t forget that on May 8, Latios and Latias, the legendary Pokémon duo, switched regions. If you haven’t captured the one in your region now, you better get going!
