Those in charge of the Deus Ex franchise are psychopaths, according to the voice of their main character

Elias Toufexis, known for his prominent work as the voice of Adam Jensen in the iconic Deus Ex series, has sparked controversy by stating that there will not be a new game in the franchise in the near future. Although he is a key part of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Toufexis shared in a Twitter message that a return to Jensen’s universe is not expected, mentioning that “those in charge are psychopaths”. However, he clarified that his comment was made in jest and that it is surprising that they are taking so long to develop a new title in this famous series.

Toufexis is not happy with how the franchise has been treated

In an interview with PC Gamer, the actor explained that he proposed an animated series project to Eidos Montreal, highlighting his previous experience in developing animated series and suggesting that the franchise has a lot of untapped potential, but received a negative response. The situation is discouraging for Deus Ex fans who were hoping for a continuation of the saga, although Toufexis has other projects in the works.

The development of the Splinter Cell remake has faced a new setback, as Ubisoft has confirmed the unexpected departure of its director, raising concerns among fans of the iconic franchise. According to a job posting published by the company, which was later removed, Ubisoft is looking for a new creative director to oversee key aspects of the game, including gameplay, gadget implementation, and enemy AI.

A franchise that seems destined to have no more games

This leadership change comes at a critical time, as Ubisoft has undergone an internal restructuring following a deal with Tencent and has recently lost other significant directors, such as the head of the Assassin’s Creed saga. The situation raises questions about the stability of the development of the Splinter Cell remake, which is once again without a leadership figure after David Grivel, who had been leading the project since its announcement in 2021, left the company in 2022.

Despite these difficulties, internal sources from Ubisoft have stated that the remake is still in development and is estimated to be released in 2026. However, fans’ concerns persist, especially due to the lack of concrete updates on the game’s progress. In contrast, the Splinter Cell franchise remains active thanks to its animated series on Netflix, which has been renewed for a second season, providing fans with some comfort amid the uncertainty of the video game.

The transformation of remakes into protagonists within the video game industry has made many fans eager, both for this project and for others that Ubisoft is developing. The loss of leadership in Splinter Cell, however, could impact the evolution of this title, leaving fans with more questions than answers on the way to its eventual release.

The first season has been well received, although it has faced criticism for some elements, such as the lack of subtlety and the absence of the iconic voice actor Michael Ironside, who brought the protagonist Sam Fisher to life in the video game series. The Netflix animated series, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, has been renewed for a second season just one day after its release. The first season has been well received, although it has faced criticism for some elements, such as a lack of subtlety and the absence of the iconic voice actor Michael Ironside, who brought the protagonist Sam Fisher to life in the video game series.

An animated series that has been a complete success

Since 2013, Ubisoft has not released a new game in the Splinter Cell franchise, with Splinter Cell: Blacklist being the last installment in the series. Although the company has confirmed that it is working on a remake of the original Splinter Cell game, details have been scarce and no significant updates have been provided in recent years.

Guillaume Dousse, director of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, has been appointed supervising producer of the second season of Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, where he will also direct the first episode. Dousse, a passionate fan of the franchise, has expressed his interest in revitalizing the world of Splinter Cell, although in a recent conversation he was unable to share information about the upcoming game in the series, mentioning that he did not have “the security clearance” to do so.

As fans continue to await news about the future of Splinter Cell video games, the reception of Deathwatch may suggest a renewed interest from Ubisoft in this acclaimed franchise. The blend of nostalgia and the promise of new stories could mark an exciting direction for followers of Sam Fisher and the stealth world he represents.
