Although it may be a PlayStation 4 exclusive, Bloodborne has become one of the most beloved games in the community. It’s a contemporary classic that FromSoftware is barely paying attention to, a situation even more intriguing after the success of Elden Ring and the release of its new expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.
Almost ten years after its release, we still don’t see any signs of a sequel, and it’s unlikely that we’ll see one anytime soon. However, its legacy is still very much alive, as evidenced by this new mod for Elden Ring, which aims to capture the spirit of Bloodborne.
This mod, titled Graceborne, brings the dark and eerie aesthetic of Bloodborne to the Intermediate Lands. Further, it allows us to see what a hypothetical sequel to Bloodborne could be like today. Currently, Graceborne is in alpha state and requires a lower version of Elden Ring to function, specifically version 1.10 (which excludes Shadow of the Erdtree).
Behind this impressive work is the modder Noctis, known in the community for his Bloodborne ports for Elden Ring. Graceborne includes 22 new armors, 35 weapons, 17 trick weapons, and five firearms, as well as new gameplay mechanics: weapon parrying, use of blood vials, and much more.
Through Graceborne we will see Elden Ring completely transformed, not only in terms of gameplay, but also visually. The enemies have been redesigned to fit the aesthetic of Bloodborne and the game’s environments. The game also uses a reshader to make the ambient light much darker, casting hints of horror. And the impressive work of Graceborne extends to the music too, which seems a transplant straight from Bloodborne.
If you’re interested in trying Graceborne, you can download it from NexusMods. However, Noctis warns that it could still have many errors since it remains in alpha state, so be mindful of that when installing. Even though Bloodborne is not available on PC, this mod allows us to imagine what it would be like to enjoy the experience.
