PlayerUnknown Productions has confirmed a restructuring process that will lead to layoffs in the company, as well as the halt of the project Prologue: Go Wayback, the survival roguelike from the studio’s founder and creator of PlayerUnknown’s BattleGround (commonly abbreviated as PUBG), Brendan Greene. PlayerUnknown Productions has confirmed a restructuring process that will lead to layoffs at the company, as well as the halt of the project Prologue: Go Wayback, the survival roguelike from the studio’s founder and creator of PlayerUnknown’s BattleGround (commonly abbreviated as PUBG), Brendan Greene.
A project that has not gone as they expected
Regarding this, Greene has stated that “our goal has been to develop a technology that allows us to break the limits at the scale level (…), to achieve this we created a research team to develop the Melba technology, and a team to apply it practically with Prologue: Go Wayback”. But as he himself has stated, “I have reached the limit of what I can finance this adventure”.
This does not mean that PUBG or the Melba technology will come to an end. PUBG will continue to operate as it has been, without any issues. Meanwhile, “we will continue to develop the Melba technology with a smaller team, while the development of Go Wayback is put on hold,” in Greene’s own words.
Meanwhile, they have stated that their plan is to refund everyone who has purchased Prologue: Go Wayback as they cannot ensure that it will be completed in the future. Also because their plan is for the current iteration of the game to be released in a free version soon thanks to an upcoming update. It seems that, although they have decided to abandon the project for now, they do not want everything they have done to go to waste. Allowing players to enjoy, at least, everything they have already created.
The penitentiary system does not work very well. The number of repeat offenders is extremely high and all studies state that any combination of therapy and medium to long-term follow-up, along with sociopolitical measures that address the problems leading to crime, works better. This does not prevent prisons from being one of our sad daily realities. And it does not seem that it will change soon. That is why Netflix wondered, what would happen if there were a prison that did not lock up its inmates? The result was the documentary Without Locks, a prison experiment. The penitentiary system does not work very well. The number of repeat offenders is extremely high, and all studies state that any combination of therapy and medium-to-long-term follow-up, along with sociopolitical measures that address the issues leading to crime, works better. This does not prevent prisons from being one of our sad daily realities. And it does not seem that this will change anytime soon. That is why Netflix wondered, what would happen if there were a prison that did not confine its inmates? The result was the documentary “Sin cerrojos,” a prison experiment.
The sheriff of Arkansas, Eric Higgins, aware of the inhumane conditions in which the inmates of the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility lived, decided to try an experiment. For six weeks, the cells in certain sectors of the jail would not be locked, allowing prisoners to have greater control over their daily lives. To ensure there was motivation for cooperation, Higgins added a reward system based on good behavior, drawing on ideas from cognitive behavioral therapy.
Does that mean they opened the doors overnight and let them do whatever they wanted? No. They discussed it beforehand with the inmates, explained the conditions and how it would be carried out, and from there, they were given free rein to live their daily lives. However, with television cameras filming them 24 hours a day.
An experiment with unexpected results
The result of this was that, although there was no radical change, there was a certain improvement. The cleanliness was much better, the behavior of the inmates improved significantly, and, overall, it achieved a safer place.
All of this is shown in Sin cerrojos, a prison experiment. How under the right conditions, inmates behave more appropriately. Something that led Higgins himself to decide to expand this approach to more parts of the prison, and with more privileges. Making the life of the inmates simpler and more humane, even if it nearly got him in trouble with the Pulaski County he works for: state representatives considered that Higgins had no responsibility over the prison to allow filming inside, endangering not only the production of the documentary series but the experiment itself.
Moreover, it is an experiment that has not happened without controversy. Many people have seen this as a way to make individuals who should be punished in the most brutal way feel more comfortable. A perspective that does not align with what is supposed to be the function of prison: rehabilitate and punish. Similarly, prison abolition activists have criticized the violation of inmates’ privacy that involves placing cameras to record their lives without their ability to decide about it, and how, although they adapt to their lives, this hardly does anything to address the real problems of the prison system.
This criticism, legitimate, has been responded to by stating that they also do not have the budget or the authority to make more significant changes in the prison. This is how they have been able to carry out this experiment: with the willingness of all those involved and little more.
Now this documentary series arrives on Netflix to demonstrate that prison doesn’t have to be a filthy hole where people are locked up and the key is thrown away.Because even if this is not enough to improve the failed penitentiary system, it is a first step to show that it is possible to do better than we are doing. Although for that, in addition to the will of all those involved, the resources of the states will be needed to change an unjust system.

A user of Arc Raiders, known as 17prozent on Reddit, has conducted an unusual social experiment to explore the competitive nature of the game’s community. His mission: to discover whether players prioritize obtaining loot or simply eliminating other competitors. To do this, he launched into 75 raids without any gear, claiming it was a representation of the Naked Man. Without weapons, without shields, and using only a hammer, 17prozent sought to interact peacefully, even warning other players that he posed no threat, as he could only provide a maximum of 500 XP upon his elimination.
Impossible to show more vulnerability
However, the response he received was overwhelmingly hostile: out of his 75 attempts, 63 resulted in his death, often with the surprise of being shot instantly at the moment he tried to demonstrate his vulnerability. “Congratulations on killing a naked guy with a hammer, I guess,” lamented the player in his post, reflecting his discontent after a series of quick deaths.
After dealing with so many eliminations, 17prozent decided to change his approach by using a duck as part of his experience. By presenting himself as Duck-Man, he noticed a drastic change in the dynamics of the game. Friendly interaction increased by 90%, showing that a playful approach can completely transform the experience in Arc Raiders, where players tend to be more aggressive.
Arc Raiders is an emerging title that seeks to combine elements from iconic games like Shadow of the Colossus, Left 4 Dead, and PUBG. The developer, Embark Studios, has admitted that it is in the process of defining its gameplay mechanics and the overall direction of the title. As the community expands its interactions, the story of 17prozent adds to the rich narrative surrounding this new game.

The highly anticipated fighting game 2XKO from Riot Games will launch in early access on October 7. In a context where experimentation and innovation are key, the game director, Shaun Rivera, warns players about possible imperfections in this first phase. According to Rivera, the team aims to test new ideas, which may result in a somewhat bumpy start, characteristic of early access games.
A game that will have obvious ups and downs
In a recent interview, Rivera expressed his willingness to take creative risks, acknowledging that some of the proposals may not be successful. “We are trying new things. Sometimes they will work and sometimes they won’t, but we have to be prepared for that,” said the director. This experimental approach is partly due to the fact that the team is developing champions from scratch, without reusing animations from previous fighting titles, which adds an additional layer of complexity to the development process.
Despite the excitement for the launch, some players have criticized the limited selection of playable characters available in the closed beta, where icons like Vi, Jinx, and Ekko can be found. Rivera assures that although the number of champions will be restricted at the beginning, they are working on incorporating more characters into the roster, something that could be well received by the gaming community that longs for greater diversity in the lineup.
2XKO will be launched as a free game in early access, offering gameplay options both solo and in duo, as well as the possibility to participate in ranked matches. With a solid foundation and many ideas in development, the team behind 2XKO is eager to receive feedback from players as they continue to refine their vision for the game.
