HTC, known for its legacy in the smartphone industry, has decided to pivot towards the smart glasses market with its new model, the HTC Vive Eagle. This transition marks a radical change for the company after several missteps in the mobile sector, with the last mobile presentation being a long time ago. The Vive Eagle promises to be a more practical and functional solution for the user’s daily life, moving away from the traditional focus on virtual reality headsets.
Glasses with competitive pricing and interesting features
The HTC Vive Eagle come with outstanding specifications, including 32 GB of internal storage, a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, and 4 GB of RAM. Their battery life is also remarkable, with a battery that promises up to 36 hours in standby mode and 4.5 hours of music playback. These glasses feature a 12 MP camera and a set of microphones and speakers that enhance the user experience.
A feature that distinguishes the Vive Eagle is its integration of artificial intelligence, using models like OpenAI GPT and Google Gemini. This allows users to perform tasks through voice commands, such as taking photos, recording videos, and translating texts in real time in up to 13 languages. Additionally, these functions can be executed directly on the device, reducing reliance on the mobile phone.
Aesthetically, the HTC Vive Eagle follows the design of traditional glasses and is available in four colors: Berry, Black, Coffee, and Grey. Weighing less than 50 grams and with an IP54 rating, they are ideal for daily use. They are currently available for pre-order for approximately 450 euros and will be officially launched on September 1st in Taiwan, with plans for expansion to other markets in the future.
