The Warhammer 40K series by Henry Cavill and Amazon is official: they have just signed a very ambitious agreement

Games Workshop, the company behind Warhammer 40,000, the popular tabletop game with miniature figures, announced last night that they had…

It was something we all took for granted. When Henry Cavill announced that he would leave his project as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher series, owned by Netflix, many of us wondered what would be next for the Hollywood’s hottest actor.

The answer didn’t take long to come out: a project related to Warhammer 40K. It is well known that Henry Cavill has a preference for this tabletop game with miniatures, specifically for its futuristic branch called Warhammer 40,000.

And while we all assumed that the project was already underway, it wasn’t until yesterday that the starting gun was fired. Now Games Workshop and Amazon have a signed agreement that will bring Henry Cavill to star in and produce this series for Prime Video.

Amazon acquires an IP that can be an all or nothing

Games Workshop, the company responsible for Warhammer 40,000, the popular tabletop game with miniature figures, announced last night that it had reached an agreement with Amazon Studios to bring the game to television and film.

Actor Henry Cavill, known for his roles in the “Superman” franchise and as the lead in Netflix’s fantasy series “The Witcher”, will appear in the series and serve as its executive producer.

The two companies had signed an agreement last year to create television programs and movies based on the Warhammer franchise, and now they will move forward bringing the game’s universe to life.

“All we can tell you right now is that a group of elite screenwriters is being assembled, each with their particular passion for Warhammer,” Games Workshop said in a statement on their website.

Warhammer 40,000 was released in 1987 and since then, it has captivated players who fight for “supremacy in the dark darkness of a distant future”.

Over the years, the game has developed a significant fan base and a detailed tradition, becoming Games Workshop’s most popular product. Hundreds of novels have expanded the Warhammer universe and mythology.

However, much of the passion for the game comes before the battle begins. Games Workshop does not sell ready-to-play Warhammer 40,000 models. Instead, players buy pieces to build and paint the details themselves to give them a personal touch.

Henry Cavill, the perfect actor for the project

The English actor himself is a fan of the game. In 2021, the actor, known for building his own personal computers, spoke about his love for Warhammer on “The Graham Norton Show”.

“You have to paint them,” said Cavill. “There’s the hobby side of painting-modeling, and then there’s the hobby side of playing.”

The game found a new legion of fans during the pandemic, including other actors and musicians willing to fight alongside Cavill in the fictional dystopia.

Apple TV+ has another epic science fiction series on the way

If you like science fiction, Apple TV+ has some very good series in its catalog, and it’s about to receive what seems to be another adaptation…

This end of the year is bringing us very good news to the audiovisual sector. Movies and series are being announced freely after the end of the writers and actors strikes. Now it’s Apple TV+’s turn.

AppleTV+ DOWNLOAD

If you like science fiction, Apple TV+ has some very good series in its catalog, and is about to receive what appears to be another adaptation of a book series about a cyborg.

Based on the award-winning and dystopian book The Murderbot Diaries, by Martha Wells, the series will follow a self-aware and self-hackable bodyguard robot who is horrified by humans, but also feels drawn to them.

A series that will arrive with a very familiar face as the protagonist

The protagonist will be Alexander Skarsgård. It is also Apple’s second collaboration with executive producer David S. Goyer, who is the director and executive producer of Foundation, which is currently airing its second season, very well received, and has been renewed for a third season.

I have high hopes for it. As Apple demonstrated with the brilliant Silo, which was an adaptation of the Wool trilogy, the service is quite good at turning beloved science fiction series into equally beloved science fiction shows.

What is Murderbot about?

In Wells’ novels, the cyborg Murderbot is a Security Unit -SecUnit for short- whose job is to protect human scientists in a distant world.

Murderbot doesn’t really like humans, although it has a very human hobby of watching TV shows and being grumpy and sarcastic about almost everything. And when it becomes evident that there is a killer on the loose, Murderbot has to keep the survivors alive.

Throughout the novels, it becomes more than just a science fiction adventure. Although the story of each book is self-contained – making it ideal for future seasons – there is a broader arc that explores artificial intelligence and what it means to be human.

Bad news for Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’ NFTs

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are facing more troubles. If it wasn’t enough with the public backlash they’re receiving for supporting a convicted criminal, now the NFTs based on the series Stoner Cats have been taken down by the SEC after detecting certain unregistered securities. The SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) has identified certain pyramid scheme-like behaviors that could be a problem for potential buyers.

An extremely serious issue

Stoner Cats is an adult animated series featuring cats that become self-aware after consuming their owner’s medicinal marijuana. It’s interesting to imagine Ashton Kutcher involved in a project like this. The series also boasts guest stars like Jane Fonda, Chris Rock, and Seth McFarlane, among others. To access the series, one had to purchase one of the 10,000 NFTs associated with it, initially priced at $800, granting access to its six episodes.

So far, it might seem like a relatively expensive way to access a series. However, the sale of these NFTs entitles the original owner to a 2.5% royalty on the resale price, meaning the couple would continue to profit with each subsequent sale if the original buyers attempted to recover their money by reselling the NFTs. But the issue escalated further as Stoner Cats’ social media actively encouraged speculation and constant trading of these NFTs, suggesting that the more successful the show became, the more valuable these tokens would be. They even offered questionable advice, including recommending buying more and more NFTs. This fueled a market that consistently generated profits while putting more and more people at financial risk.

However, the SEC has made it clear that the value of an NFT is not determined by its associated products. Instead, it’s the economic reality of the offering, not the underlying objects, that defines it as an investment contract. Currently, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher face a $1 million fine and the obligation to refund anyone who has been harmed by these actions, but these might not be the only consequences they face.

Are You Prepared? Succession’s Thrilling Climax Approaches with Two Episodes Left

The best series on HBO Max is coming to an end and we fans have to accept that the Roy family is going to disappear from our Mondays in two weeks.

Yesterday, episode number 8 of Succession premiered, and many of us had a tough time in front of the television. Not because the episode was bad, far from it, but because the series is coming to an end and our nerves are getting the best of us.

HBO Max DOWNLOAD

Episode 8 revolves around the highly anticipated North American elections. A Democratic candidate who won’t oppose GoJo’s acquisition of Waystar Royco. And a Republican candidate who is pure evil… but will favor the Roy siblings by blocking the deal with Mattson.

The country hangs in the balance between these two candidates, while the good-hearted Connor Roy hopes to garner some votes in liberal states. He knows he doesn’t stand a chance, but he enjoys playing the game.

Two episodes left for everything to come to an end in Succession

As you well know if you watched the episode (if not, you may want to stop reading as spoilers are coming), the Roy family’s television network, ATN, leaned towards giving victory to the conservative candidate… in exchange for a prior agreement.

And if that weren’t enough, Kendall and Roman have caught Shiv playing both sides. Now both Kendall and Roman know that their sister is scheming with Mattson to secure the purchase of Waystar Royco, giving her a key role in the future of the company.

This caused Kendall’s doubts about supporting the Republican candidate (because of him being the personification of evil) to dissipate: if they wanted to retain ownership of Waystar Royco and sabotage the purchase by GoJo, they had no alternative.

The war has begun, there are two episodes left, and no one knows what might happen. It could range from the siblings keeping the company, despite the major challenges they face, to GoJo acquiring the company and revealing that the stock prices are based on false data from India.

One more episode and the final movie

One more regular episode is left, and as we found out last week, it will revolve around Logan Roy’s state funeral, where all the siblings will have to put on a good face and deal with politicians and powerful individuals.

Will Mattson make an appearance? Will there be a complete breakdown between Kendall, Shiv, and Roman? Will the secret agreements with the Republican candidate be revealed? What lies ahead is going to be monumental and will set the stage for the final episode.

The movie, as some are already calling the upcoming conclusion, will run for 90 minutes and will have the challenging task of wrapping up one of the greatest series in television history. We will miss you, Roy family, no matter how crazy you all are.

Get to Know Arnold Schwarzenegger: Netflix’s Fascinating New Documentary

It is the series that every bodybuilding lover has to see, but also the perfect series to meet one of the great men of the 20th century.

Mister Olympia, Terminator, Conan, governor, a father in distress… good old Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the most important people of the 20th century and a sample of what a passionate and determined man can do.

Netflix DOWNLOAD

His name has once again become the talk of the world after the announcement of a documentary series about his life on Netflix, the trailer has left everyone, fans and detractors alike, wanting more.

His life as a bodybuilder, actor, politician and activist raises passions around the world, so it’s only natural to love him… or hate him. Indifference does not go with him.

Who is Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Arnold Schwarzenegger was born on July 30, 1947 in Thal, near Graz, Austria. Despite his birthplace, he is also a U.S. citizen.

A bodybuilder in Austria, he moved to the United States in 1968 and won the Mr. Universe title four times and the Mr. Olympia title seven times before retiring undefeated in 1980. In bodybuilding, Arnold is the world’s greatest living legend.

After appearing in the documentary Pumping Iron (1977), he starred in Conan the Barbarian (1982) and its sequel, Conan the Destroyer (1984). Noted for his extraordinary physique and thick accent, he became an international star with Terminator (1984), which became a hugely successful franchise.

His other films included Kindergarten Cop (1990), Total Recall (1990), True Lies (1994) and Twins (1988).

Schwarzenegger joined the Republican Party and served as governor of California (2003-2011). He later returned to acting, appearing in films such as The Last Stand (2013), Sabotage (2014), Terminator Genisys (2015) and Terminator: Dark Fate (2019).

A documentary film comes to Netflix to talk about Arnold

This is not going to be easy, because everything has been said about Arnold. So much has been written about that, I’m sure, half of it is lies and half of it is imagined. Which makes this documentary a unique opportunity to tell the truth.

After The Last Dance documentary featuring Michael Jordan, Netflix has specialized in telling people’s lives in the form of a documentary series. Everyone wants their moment of glory, but few deserve it like Arnold.

On June 7, 2023, all of Schwarzenegger’s lives will be put under the microscope in a three-part Netflix documentary titled Arnold.

In each episode of Arnold, the narrative focuses on a different aspect of Schwarzenegger’s story, including chapters devoted to his life as an athlete, actor and politician.

More importantly, it examines how he revolutionized every industry he set foot in, and how it all led to both professional success and private turmoil.

The three-part documentary is directed by Lesley Chilcott, who previously worked as a producer on An Inconvenient Truth (2006) and Waiting for “Superman” (2010).

Sweet Valley Twins: The Impossibly Large Saga That Captivated Generations

What everyone does not know is that his adventures come from a literary saga that transcends 88 television episodes to last for more than 600

Las gemelas de Sweet Valley’ is a landmark of 90’s television: in fact, its success was such in Spain that it was broadcast at the same time on TVE and Antena 3. What not everyone knows is that its adventures come from a literary saga that transcends the 88 television chapters to extend over more than 600 issues between main novels, spin-offs, adult sagas and secret clubs. Taking advantage of the book day, let’s take a look at a never-ending saga that you could never, ever read in its entirety (unless you dedicate yourself exclusively to it): ‘Sweet Valley’.

Books at go-go

Francine Pascal has been behind the lives of Jessica and Elizabeth for forty years, two twins who started out in high school and whose lives have taken a few twists and turns since October 1983 when it all began with ‘Double Love’, a novel in which the two sisters fight over the same boy, Todd Wilkins, who would later become Liz’s boyfriend. The author’s original idea was to make a soap opera in book format for teenagers, and boy, did she succeed. At least in length.

Originally, Pascal wanted to tell her story as a television series, but, when her dream came true, she ended up hating the end result. Not that ‘her’ story is entirely hers either: under the name Francine Pascal lurks a host of ghostwriters who have added chapters to the story over the decades at a lightning pace. From October 1983 to July 1998 there was a ‘Sweet Valley Twins’ book every month, for a total of 143 packed with love affairs, double dates, rants, whispers and even dead boyfriends returning in spirit form. Suck it, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’.

In addition to the original saga books, a special novel called ‘Super Edition’ was published once a year: there were twelve issues in which love affairs were put aside to focus on earthquakes, avalanches, trips to Cannes, forest fires and online stalkers. In addition, there were nine issues of ‘Super Thrillers’, packed with murder, Witness Protection, politics and kidnapping: the Sweet Valley twins weren’t bored, no.

Spin-offs a cascoporro

And here the madness begins: the ‘Magna Editions’ told things we had already seen but from a different point of view (the pig gets everything) and ‘Super Stars’ were stories about the secondary characters (Lila, Bruce, Enid, Olivia and Todd) that joined those of ‘Sweet Valley Twins’, a saga of 118 books that was published at the same time as the original and that took place a few years before (the continuity thing is going to be a mess, we’re going to warn you). The plots ranged from finding the secret ingredient to make cookies to girls suffering from cancer or teachers playing the Nazi Holocaust with them. Almost nothing.

This spin-off had, in turn, fourteen ‘Super Editions’, with stories like “twins go to an amusement park but don’t talk to each other”, “Jessica lives the same day over and over again until she finds her Christmas spirit” or “twins go to Paris and think their caretaker is a murderer“. Oh yes, and nine ‘Super Chillers’ featuring ghosts, magic pens and cursed masks (in a plot absurdly plagiarized from ‘Nightmares’). Also three ‘Magna Editions’, 23 novels of ‘The Unicorn Club’ and two of ‘Team Sweet Valley’, where the twins do gymnastics and volleyball.

And you’ll say “Well, that’s it, isn’t it?”. Of course not. From 1990 onwards, 70 more ‘Sweet Valley Kids’ books were published, featuring the characters as children, with seven ‘Super Snooper’ and five ‘Super Special Editions’ included. And when the original saga ended in 1998 with the twins’ graduation, another one began: ‘Sweet Valley Junior High’, which told stories of both the year before it all began: 30 more books in the bag and more chronological teasers.

But as well as going backwards, the saga also continued forwards: ‘Sweet Valley Senior Year’ had 48 novels since 1999, but six years earlier, in 1993, they had already begun their college adventures in ‘Sweet Valley University‘, which had 63 titles, including 18 ‘Thriller Editions’. After college, in 2001, ‘Elizabeth’ followed for six novels one of the twins running away to London and falling in love with a millionaire while clearing up the reasons for the breakup with her sister.

Ten years later, in 2011, Francines Pascal released ‘Sweet Valley Confidential’, which took place, coincidentally, a decade later. Finally, the author decided to put an end (for now) with a six-book saga, ‘The Sweet Life’, which told the story of the twins in their thirties: marriages, children, reality stars and much more to culminate these 604 books (we repeat: 604!) that many did not even guess when, in 1994, the TV series premiered. Don’t you feel less lazy now to start with this nine-part macro-saga of adventures? You’re welcome.
