Steel Hunters, which promised intense futuristic battles with mechs, was presented at The Game Awards 2024, but its lack of differentiation in a saturated shooter market has been its Achilles’ heel. Despite Wargaming’s experience, known for the success of World of Tanks, the proposal failed to stand out against other popular titles, leaving many wondering about the future of games as a service.

To close the Steel Hunters experience, Wargaming will offer special support for custom game modes, allowing users to play with friends, create community matches, and share “final memories” in a controlled environment. From Tanks to Mechs

Unlike its previous works like World of Tanks, which has established itself as an icon in the war game genre since its release in 2010, Steel Hunters represents a significant shift in the creative direction of the studio. This new title falls within a more dynamic genre, offering free action with giant robots. In early access, Wargaming has ensured that there will be no initial monetization, allowing players to try the game without worrying about additional expenses at the start. However, micropayments will be introduced later in the development process.

At the time of the early access launch, Steel Hunters will feature three distinct maps and seven playable characters known as Hunters. Players will be able to choose from Razersida, Heartbreaker, Fenris, Ursus, Trenchwalker, Prophet, and Weaver, each with unique abilities that promise to enrich the gaming experience.
