Discover how Dragon Ball Super has been able to improve the big problem that Dragon Ball Z and Goku have always had.
Dragon Ball Super, the continuation of Akira Toriyama‘s original anime, doesn’t have as many fans as its predecessor. Many complained back in the day that it didn’t live up to expectations, although over the years, opinions have mellowed, and some believe that it actually features some of the best story arcs in the series’ history.
However, if there’s one thing Dragon Ball Super has done well, it’s addressing a problem that the protagonist, Son Goku, had since his character development in Dragon Ball Z: his personality. While he started off in the series as a carefree and innocent character, in Dragon Ball Z, he evolved into a more prototypical hero, and this didn’t sit well with Toriyama.
A real hero?
In a 1997 interview with Wired Japan, Akira Toriyama admitted that he was displeased with Goku’s portrayal in the Dragon Ball Z anime. Toriyama always envisioned Goku as someone who simply wanted to fight against the strongest warriors in the universe, but according to his words, the anime turned him into a typical “righteous hero” who always fights for the greater good.
While Toriyama acknowledges that Goku is a good person who cares about his loved ones, he doesn’t believe that his mission is to protect the innocent and save the universe. Toriyama believes that in the original manga, it’s merely a consequence of Goku’s encounters with the strongest beings in the galaxy. However, he feels that in the second phase, particularly in the anime, his attitude was changed quite a bit.
However, this is something that has changed in Dragon Ball Super: we see a Goku who is much less concerned about others and more selfish, with the single-minded goal of being the strongest and facing the most powerful opponents. This is evident in the Tournament of Power, where the future of his universe is at stake, yet all he cares about is being the strongest.
Undoubtedly, Dragon Ball Super has better captured the essence of the Goku that Toriyama envisioned, and while he remains a hero, other characters are given more logical reasoning. In fact, Vegeta often appears to be much more rational than his rival in most instances.
Operación Triunfo returns to Amazon Prime Video: this is all we know at the moment.
The quintessential millennial TV phenomenon is back once again. While Operación Triunfo may not always have achieved sky-high ratings, the truth is that the interest it generates has never completely disappeared.
The show that launched the careers of artists like David Bisbal and Bustamante has switched between TVE and Telecinco. However, now we will see it for the first time on Amazon Prime.
After more than 20 years since its first broadcast (which is no small feat), Operación Triunfo has had three editions on TVE and five on Telecinco. Some time later, we witnessed the reunion of the first edition after 15 years. This reignited interest in the format and as a result, we experienced the comeback of OT in 2017. With Roberto Leal as the host, that edition saw talents like Aitana, Amaia, Ana Guerra, and Lola Índigo emerge. Many will surely remember it as one of the best and most successful editions in terms of its contestants.
The latest memory we have of Operación Triunfo is seeing Nia crowned as the winner in 2020. Now, three years later, the acclaimed show is ready for its reinvention on Amazon Prime Video.
Furthermore, we already know that this edition will air between late 2023 and early 2024. Of course, there will be live galas (which you can only watch if you’re subscribed to Amazon Prime Video) and the famous 24-hour channel, which will be streamed on YouTube. In addition to these platforms, Twitch and TikTok will also join in, where we can see more content related to the “triunfitos” (contestants of Operación Triunfo). And if that wasn’t enough, fans of the format will be able to enjoy a new daily show that will reveal everything that wasn’t captured by the Academy cameras.
Among some new features, we will have the return of Chenoa, but this time as a host (no, we won’t experience another case like Geno’s). Indeed, a lot has happened since the edition she was a part of. Alongside Chenoa, we will also see a new teaching team, of which only Manu Guix, Vicky Gómez, and Mamen Márquez have been retained, already recognized figures within Operación Triunfo.
We also know how the new galas will be: from now on, their duration will not exceed 90 minutes. The reason for this is to make them “faster” and “get to the point,” in the words of Tinet Rubira. Additionally, Prime Video will broadcast two special galas where we will see the 18 finalists compete. From here, we will get to know the 14 future participants who will be seen week after week on Operación Triunfo. Lastly, this edition will also premiere a new set and runway, along with a completely revamped Academy.
What prize will the winner of Operación Triunfo 2023 receive?
In previous editions, Operación Triunfo has been associated with Eurovision. While we now have the Benidorm Fest, many still wonder if the contest’s prize will have any connection to Eurovision. However, the prize for the winner will not be related to the festival and will be solely monetary: a whopping 100,000 euros.
Do you want to apply for the casting? Write down these dates and cities
And the novelties of OT 2023 don’t end there. Noemí Galera has announced the dates and cities for the upcoming auditions of Operación Triunfo 2023:
?? 3/07 en Barcelona ?? 6/07 en Zaragoza ?? 10/07 en Santiago de Compostela ?? 12/07 en Bilbao ?? 17/07 en Valencia ?? 06/09 en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ?? 11/09 en Málaga ?? 14/09 en Sevilla ?? 19/09 en Madrid pic.twitter.com/20TK3BfBTw
For those who want to try their luck, it is important to note that being of legal age is mandatory to participate. The casting process will also be available to watch on YouTube. Entering the Academy is the dream of many emerging artists, so who knows what could happen?
Find out if Pedro Pascal is the one under the Mandalorian suit. Spoiler: we have bad news.
The Mandalorian is one of Disney Plus‘ biggest successes, and its latest season has shown that the series still has a lot more to offer. With two new seasons on the horizon and a final movie that brings together all the series in its timeline, the Star Wars fiction is at a peak moment.
However, since the series premiered in 2019, many have wondered a crucial question: is Pedro Pascal actually inside the suit of Din Djarin? Similar to Darth Vader in the main films of the franchise, the protagonist is almost always seen wearing the helmet – he has only shown his face three times – so no one can be certain that it is truly Pascal himself portraying the character.
Pedro Pascal is no longer the Mandalorian in Season 3… or not quite
This question was already resolved with seasons 1 and 2: Pedro Pascal confirmed that he was indeed the one inside the character’s suit. In fact, he made it clear in an interview with Empirehow it was to act with that costume:
“It’s like putting on a glove from head to toe… and with weights. It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expressions. It completely immerses you in the character’s world and instantly makes it feel real, but you can’t see a thing!”
However, this may have changed in season 3. Pedro Pascal has only confirmed his role as the voice actor for the final batch of episodes in the series. He mentioned this during a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, making it clear that he was not the one responsible for portraying the character throughout the entire series.
Pascal explained that he couldn’t bear the strain of wearing the heavy armor for days on end, and he insisted that the team behind The Mandalorian found the perfect balance between the on-set doubles like Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder, and Pascal’s voice work.
In this way, something similar to what happened with Darth Vader in the original films occurs. The voice of the character was provided by James Earl Jones, but inside the armor was David Prowse. After two seasons in which Pascal did it all, this has changed… much to the disappointment of fans.
It has finished the best HBO Max series in its history, or so many television critics believe. Succession came to an end yesterday and I have something to say.
After four seasons following the adventures, fights, betrayals, and (very few) loves of the Roy family and Waystar Royco, yesterday, on Monday, May 29, 2023, the story came to an end.
The fourth season of Succession is well structured, with two initial blocks focusing on Logan Roy and his loyal followers versus his three children. They all have common interests: to stay strong in the world of media once they sell the company.
However, with Logan Roy’s death after suffering a heart attack mid-flight, the situation changes: the Roy family versus GoJo. Initially, the idea of all the siblings and the board is to sell at a good price. But at a certain point, Kendall and Roman decide to blow up the deal.
Kendall wants to be his father and run a company that he believes is rightfully his. His father always told him that he would be the one to lead Waystar Royco when he grew up. But if you’ve seen the series, you know that Logan Roy didn’t trust anyone, except himself.
Kendall supports him, as his role would be as co-CEO alongside his brother. Additionally, Logan played with him in the last days of his life, selling him the idea that he trusted him to lead the company.
As you can see, everything was tainted, and everyone wanted to be the CEO of Waystar Royco. Even Shiv Roy, who was chosen during the second season to replace her father. As you already know, it was just a strategy by Logan. The divided siblings had less power than when they were together.
Shiv’s selection as the successor was a decision made under questionable circumstances
Once the factions are established, Shiv Roy switches sides and aligns herself with Lukas Mattson, as he promises her the CEO position of the U.S. branch of Waystar Royco once GoJo acquires the company. It’s a tempting deal.
That’s when the war begins. The Roy siblings try to garner political support to block the agreement with GoJo. When that avenue proves futile, they turn to rallying support within the board of shareholders.
In the final episode, everything comes down to the board’s vote. Each faction believes they have the necessary votes to achieve their goals… until Shiv is betrayed. Lukas doesn’t want her as the CEO; instead, he plans to install her husband, Tom Wambsgans, in that position.
This turn of events leads Shiv to join forces with her brothers. She won’t tolerate being betrayed in such a manner. The siblings decide that Kendall should become the CEO of the new Waystar Royco in order to sway the board of shareholders and gather the necessary votes.
When everything is clear, alliances are formed, and the plan is set… Shiv betrays her siblings and the family by voting in favor of selling the company to GoJo. And this is where everything falls apart with no further information provided.
Why would Shiv vote against her own family when GoJo had just betrayed her hours before? Voting for the sale allows Mattson to have his way and benefits her husband, with whom she has a tumultuous relationship. However, it’s not as if Tom gains much either. He is made aware that his role as CEO would be to become a puppet, a punching bag following Lukas’ orders.
This decision doesn’t give Shiv any real power. It simply turns her into another cog in the machine that will be discarded when no longer useful. Moreover, the fact that a character changes their opinion three times in half an hour is difficult to justify and make the audience believe.
Without any further information, except for some theories that arise from the words of Karolina, the communications executive at Waystar Royco, who speaks to Shiv in private and then Tom repeats her words… there isn’t much more we can say.
It seems that the idea was to crown Tom Wambsgans, the most punished and belittled character throughout the series (alongside his assistant, cousin Greg), regardless of the cost to the plot and its credibility.
Will we see it? It’s hard to say if HBO Max will go back on their words, but it would be strange for them not to fully capitalize on their own intellectual property that has garnered so much success and awards in recent years.
Find out when the live action movie of The Knights of the Zodiac (Saint Seiya) arrives on Netflix.
Knights of the Zodiac has just been released in theaters and has proven to be one of the worst anime adaptations ever made. The Saint Seiya movie featuring Sean Bean has firmly entered our top 3, almost on par with Dragonball Evolution, and its box office performance is not exactly spectacular either.
“However, Knights of the Zodiac will soon have a double life. As is the case with many movies nowadays, despite not performing well in theaters, it is expected to fare better on streaming platforms. Whether it’s to rediscover a gem that is being vilified or to revel in the madness that the film has become, the movie will be arriving on Netflix very soon.”
Knights of the Zodiac streaming release date
“According to Sony Pictures, the production company behind the $70 million film, the Saint Seiya adaptation will arrive on Netflix starting from June 1, 2023. This means that there will only be a few days between its theatrical release and its arrival on the official streaming platform.
Why Netflix? The answer seems logical. The platform currently has the CGI remake of the series from 2019, as well as the original anime and some of its movies available in various countries. Therefore, Netflix appears to be the official home of Saint Seiya, as well as an increasing number of continuously released anime titles.”
“Undoubtedly, the new release of Saint Seiya is a fresh opportunity for the movie to find its audience. So far, it hasn’t pleased fans or unfamiliar viewers… but who knows. The ways of Netflix are inscrutable.”
Discover Netflix’s hidden thriller that went unnoticed at its premiere and is now taking off on the platform.
Netflix is an expert at unearthing hidden gems that become box office hits. This is the case for dozens of series and movies that, despite going unnoticed at first, quickly manage to stand out in the catalog and become unexpected successes. It even happened with “Money Heist”, which went from being just another series to achieving international success, so it’s a common practice on the platform.
The latest film to experience this is “Missing,” a thriller that was released in theaters in January and, despite receiving good reviews, was largely underestimated and didn’t attract a large audience. However, the movie was re-released on May 20th through Netflix, and word-of-mouth from viewers has been so strong that it has gained significant attention in the catalog, positioning itself as one of the most-watched productions in several countries.
According to data from FlixPatrol, on May 23rd, “Missing” became the most-watched film in Netflix’s top 10, and it held that position until the 29th, marking a full week. But why is this movie achieving such success?
An invisible film full of tension
Missing is actually the standalone sequel to “Searching,” a film by Will Merrick and Nick Johnson that starred Storm Reid as a daughter determined to find her missing mother in 2018. This time, the movie takes some elements from the first film but tells a different story. The synopsis is as follows:
When her mother goes missing while on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, June’s search for answers is hindered by international bureaucracy. Stuck in Los Angeles, thousands of miles away, June uses all the technology at her disposal to try to find her mother before it’s too late. But the deeper she delves into her search, her digital investigation raises more questions than answers… and as June uncovers secrets about her mother, she realizes she never truly knew her.
After its release on Netflix, Missing was praised for its good pacing, believable situations, and perfectly implemented twists in the plot. It never feels like one of those senseless rushed thrillers, but rather everything seems to be part of a puzzle that is slowly being solved.
The film, with a runtime of 111 minutes, faced a release almost at the same time as “Avatar: The Way of Water,” which dominated the box office for months. However, it has now found a new life on the platform.
These are what we consider to be the best mystery games for PC, mobile and consoles of 2023. Download one of them now and solve the crime!
Are you looking to download mystery games? You’ve come to the right place. “Whodunnit” games are one of the most celebrated and popular genres among gamers who prefer a good story, puzzles, and investigative scenes over shooters, beat ’em ups, or action games.
Whether you’re on PC, console, or mobile, there’s an endless array of mystery games at your fingertips that will test your mind, creativity, and powers of deduction. Are you ready to download some of them? Put on your Sherlock Holmes hat because here are the best mystery games of the moment. We hope you enjoy them!
1. The Phoenix Wright Saga
If you enjoy mystery games, you’ll love Phoenix Wright. Also known as Ace Attorney, it is one of the most well-known and celebrated investigative video game series on the market. Created by Shu Takumi, the Phoenix Wright games put us in the shoes of this spiky-haired lawyer and his successor, Apollo Justice, on a crusade to solve the most bizarre cases.
Packed with humor and unforgettable characters, the Phoenix Wright series stands out for its excellent gameplay. Each case features a superb investigation and interrogation system that culminates in a final act where we must combine everything we’ve learned to defend our client and accuse the true culprit in the courtroom.
Regardless of whether you’re on PC, console, or mobile, you have a wide range of Phoenix Wright games at your disposal. If you’re new to this series, we highly recommend downloading Ace Attorney Trilogy, where you can enjoy the first three cases of the saga. If you get tired of Phoenix, you can also try your luck with Apollo Justice, his young successor. Personally, I highly recommend The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, a fantastic game where you take on the role of Naruhodo Ryunosuke, an ancestor of Wright who must unravel the most intricate mysteries in feudal Japan alongside Sherlock Holmes (or Herlock Sholmes).
With its remaster just around the corner, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective climbs to the second spot on our list. This brilliant mystery and investigation game from Capcom comes once again from the mind of Shu Takumi (Phoenix Wright). In this game, we’ll leave the courtroom behind to become an amnesiac ghost seeking answers about our own death. Sounds intriguing, right? Brace yourself, because twists and turns are coming!
Available for Android mobile devices and soon also for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective puts us in the shoes of a ghost detective right after his death. He has lost his memory, so he doesn’t remember who he is or what led to his untimely demise. That’s when our ghostly investigation begins, where we must solve puzzles and navigate through all sorts of ingenious situations by possessing objects. But that’s not all, you can also control time, rewinding and jumping back to the past whenever you want.
The main Danganronpa saga always follows a similar storyline. A group of elite students has been trapped against their will by Monokuma, a teddy bear with a sinister death game. To escape, one of them must murder a fellow student, and then a trial must be held to uncover the culprit.
If the killer is discovered, they will be subjected to a cruel and often gory execution. If, on the other hand, nobody finds out, the killer will escape while the rest of their classmates perish. While the first installment may be predictable and somewhat disappointing, the second and third entries are excellent.
For all Danganronpa fans, it’s worth noting that we will soon be able to enjoy Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE. This new mystery and investigation game will feature the sinister and fantastic touch that characterizes the creators of this series.
You may not be familiar with the name Tex Murphy if you’re a novice gamer, but he was one of the most beloved detectives in PC games during the 90s. Mean Streets, Martian Memorandum, Under a Killing Moon, Overseer… there are plenty of Tex Murphy games to choose from. But why do I add them to this list? Thanks to a Kickstarter project, Tesla Effect arrived on our computers, a new title in the series that benefits from all the advantages of new technologies while retaining the charm of classic games.
In this game series, we step into the shoes of Tex Murphy, a detective in the year 2040 who, besides not being very good at his job, is obsessed with the golden age of private investigators like The Maltese Falcon.
What usually starts as a seemingly trivial case, like finding a lost cat, ends up turning into a scenario more akin to a James Bond saga. Only the sarcasm of the clumsy detective and, of course, your investigative skills will save the planet. Highly recommended for lovers of comedies and the film noir genre.
One cannot talk about mystery games without including a title featuring the most famous detective of Baker Street. From the hands of the Ukrainian developer Frogwares comes Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, an excellentremake of the classic 2006 game. This project, born out of an exceptional Kickstarter campaign – in which I myself participated – brings back one of the most iconic titles in the Holmes game franchise. And this time, the detective isn’t facing a simple case, but the very myths of Cthulhu.
Set during the war against Russia, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is a faithful portrayal of the original game but with cutting-edge graphics, a new soundtrack, and new cases in the form of DLC. One of the most notable enhancements is the revival of the appearance, voice, and personality of Holmes that we saw in the superb Chapter One, paving the way for a possible resurrection of the detective’s remaining adventures. It’s a must-play for those seeking a great game, and especially for lovers of the stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and H.P. Lovecraft.
While we eagerly await news about The Wolf Among Us 2, its first installment is undoubtedly a game that deserves to be on the list of the best mystery games. It is based on the DC Comics series Fables and its charm lies precisely in the fact that well-known characters from fairy tales are living among humans incognito… but not quite as we remember them.
In The Wolf Among Us, we take on the role of Bigby Wolf (based obviously on the Big Bad Wolf) and find ourselves involved in a series of murders where the victims are all these characters from fables and children’s tales. The Wolf Among Us is a thrilling title that will keep you glued to your screen until you solve the mystery across its five episodes. However, be mindful of your decisions because, as is typical in TellTale Games’ titles, each choice and path you take will have repercussions on the story’s development.
Fans of visual novels have a must-play experience with PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo. This true gem developed by Square Enix immerses us in a story of mystery and terror set in late 20th century Japan. In this game, we take on the role of different characters involved in strange deaths where there is a common factor: deadly relics, vengeful spirits, and a mysterious resurrection ritual.
Although at its core it is a visual novel, PARANORMASIGHT is a game where we can interrogate, use objects, employ logic, investigate thanks to its brilliant 360-degree environments, and even curse and kill our enemies. However, where the game truly excels is in its story. It is intricately woven with so many twists that you won’t be able to stop playing until you unravel its mystery. In short, it’s an incredible game that no one should miss out on.
Created by Ron Gilbert, Thimbleweed Park is a love letter to the old point-and-click games of the era of Maniac Mansion, The Secret of Monkey Island, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In addition to being a true gift for nostalgic players, it is a truly entertaining mystery game where we must investigate a strange murder on the outskirts of the bizarre town of Thimbleweed Park.
Fun like few others and with humor that surpasses the absurd, Thimbleweed Park is a marvel. The game perfectly manages to make you laugh at all times while keeping you glued to your seat until you uncover the killer in the quirky town specialized in pillow sales. A special mention goes to its sheriff-a-reeno, a character that once you meet him, you will never forget him. It is a must-play for fans of graphic adventures and, unlike the controversial Return to Monkey Island, it provides a gratifying experience from beginning to end.
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers marked a before and after in Sierra Online’s graphic adventures. The fantasy stories of the King’s Quest series were left behind to immerse ourselves fully in a title not recommended for minors, conceived by thriller writer Jane Jensen. In this game, we travel to New Orleans, where we step into the shoes of an egocentric and opportunistic writer on his quest to solve a series of murders related to voodoo.
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is a surprising, mature, and complex game with a storyline worthy of the best film. It’s not surprising that to this day it is considered one of the best graphic adventures for PC and mobile devices. The game even received a remake with updated HD graphics and 3D characters, further enhancing its appeal.
We conclude the list with AI: The Somnium Files, an excellent mystery game created by Kotaro Uchikoshi, the mind behind the superb Zero Escape series (if you haven’t played it yet, you’re missing out). In this game, we take on the role of detective Kaname Date, a special agent tasked with investigating the serial killings of the so-called Cyclops. The killer’s modus operandi is to disembowel their victims and steal one of their eyes. To aid us in our investigation, we have the assistance of Aiba, an artificial intelligence located in Date’s eye, and the ability to enter the dreams and memories of the characters.
As is customary in Uchikoshi’s games, The Somnium Files features a gripping story that combines moments of comedy with more serious and even gruesome ones. The end result is a surprising plot full of twists and an exceptional conclusion. If you enjoyed AI: The Somnium Files, don’t miss its sequel, AI: The Somnium File – NirvanA Initiative, which, while not quite reaching the same heights as the first installment, is still highly entertaining.
Find out how many Spider-Mans will appear in the next movie of the hero Across the Spider-Verse.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is premiering this Friday, and its mission is a challenging one: to surpass the tremendous success of Into the Spider-Verse. The animated film became the most acclaimed of 2018 and even won an Oscar in its category. So, five years later, Sony has gone all out to match its groundbreaking offering.
As we have seen in the trailers, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be a much larger film than its predecessor. It will be a major event featuring more versions of Spider-Man, as well as the first part of a two-part movie that will tell a bigger story than what we saw in the first film. But how many Spider-Men appear in the movie and who exactly are they?
How many Spider-Mans appear in the film?
In an interview with Collider, co-director Justin Thompson was asked about how many versions of the superhero will appear on screen. His response was quite straightforward and makes it clear that it will be the ultimate crossover for the character:
“The exact number? Wow, we’re still tallying it up to the end. Honestly, I’ll be honest with you, we just finished the movie, like in the last two weeks, and I don’t think I’ve had time to take a pause and do a final count. But I think the number was around 280 last time I checked.”
Undoubtedly, 280 Spider-Mans is a lot. But will they all have the same weight in the plot? Obviously, it seems that many will only have a brief cameo, although Thompson has also addressed this:
“Just to be clear, that doesn’t mean they’re all specific and unique characters that anyone could recognize, it could also mean variations. But if we’re only talking about specific named characters, then I think there’s probably around 95.”
The Spider-Mans protagonists of Across the Spider-Verse
Now that we know how many there will be, we still need to know which ones we will see in the movie. Well, in the trailers, there are already some background characters that elude us, but so far, the main characters that we will definitely get a glimpse of have been confirmed. Beyond the ones we saw in the previous film, the following will appear:
Spider-Man 2099: Also known as Miguel O’Hara, he is a brilliant genetic scientist of Mexican descent who works for a megacorporation called Alchemax. It seems that he will be an opponent of Miles in the film.
Spider-Woman: Jessica Drew first appeared in 1977 and is one of the classic versions of the hero. She acquired her powers after being exposed to radiation from an experimental formula of her father’s when she was young, and her powers include venom from a sting.
Supaidaman: This extremely rare Spider-Man was born from a collaboration between Toei Animation and Marvel Comics, and is known as the Japanese Spider-Man. He has a giant robot named Leopardon.
Spider-Punk: This is the most rebellious Spider-Man, with a punk style and a large mohawk.
Scarlet Spider: One of the clones of Spider-Man, with great popularity in the 90s.
Spider-Man India: Pavitr Prabhakar is the young Spider-Man from India, a hero who fights crime and corruption in his country.
Lady Spider: A young version of the hero who uses technology for her powers.
Spider-Man Unlimited: One of the versions of Peter Parker from the animated series with the same title.
Other characters that will have some importance and appear to be more than just a cameo include Spider-Rex, Spider-Ham, Spider-Cat, Spider Monkey, and Spider Byte, as well as Spider-Man Noir and Peni Parker. There’s no doubt that all fans of the hero will delight in all these crazy versions of the character. Additionally, as mentioned by those who have already seen the movie, new surprises keep appearing throughout the entire plot.
Not even Google Photos gets rid of making mistakes as glaring as this one.
In recent times, it can be said without fear of being wrong that technology has advanced by leaps and bounds. The general public has discovered the power of artificial intelligence and content generation with just a click. However, there are “major challenges” that continue to resist the power of technology companies, such as the accurate identification of gorillas.
And it’s because, although it may seem trivial and anecdotal at first, it is symptomatic of a much larger problem. Google Photos, the popular gallery application, launched a new feature in 2015 that analyzed your photos so you could search for them using terms. Want to find a photo of a dog? Simply type the term “dog” into the Google Photos search bar, and it would locate images where at least one dog was present. However, this functionality had some, at the very least, serious “errors”.
Software developer Jacky Alciné came across one of these “errors” when he discovered that Google Photos had mistaken him and a friend (both of them being African American) for gorillas in some photos. Google’s solution was quite simple: disable gorilla search and prevent any object, plant, person, or animal from being labeled as such.
Years later, The New York Times has decided to test this detection technology once again. While it was initially found in Google Photos, now tools like Amazon Photos and Microsoft’s OneDrive have been incorporating it natively for quite some time. After all these years, has this issue been resolved?
In a short answer, The New York Times is very clear: no. Among some of the tested applications, we find Amazon Photos, Apple Photos, and Google Photos, for example. Despite their great fame and popularity, all of them still encountered many problems in identifying what a gorilla was. While it is not believed to be due to lack of capabilities or computational power, there is a common observation: the fear of making such glaring mistakes again, as was the case with Google Photos.
After 8 years, Jacky Alciné himself expressed deep disappointment with how this issue remains unresolved. Ultimately, these products reflect the same structural problems found in most societies today. What good is such advanced technology if it continues to lack inclusivity in all its aspects?
There is nothing that resists Arnold Schwarzenegger: this is how he demonstrates it by doing ASMR.
Once again, Arnold Schwarzenegger proves that no activity is beyond his reach. The actor and former bodybuilder has returned to the small screen with FUBAR, a Netflix series in which he portrays CIA secret agent Luke Brunner. Joining him is Monica Barbaro, the actress who plays his daughter Emma and also happens to be a secret agent (keeping it all in the family).
The series premiered on May 25th on Netflix and in a short time, it has become the most-watched series on the platform in recent days. Both Schwarzenegger and Barbaro have been busy with numerous promotional activities, and one of them has managed to capture special attention on social media.
If there’s one thing Schwarzenegger can boast about, it’s that he’s not afraid of anything: Mr. Olympia, successful actor, and now, an ASMR artist? Although we know it’s just temporary, the truth is he’s quite good at it. If you consider yourself a “tinglehead,” you might find this clip very relaxing (or it might make you nervous, anything is possible).
Arnold remembers Conan and appreciates FUBAR’s success
Another thing we can say about good old Arnold is that he’s undoubtedly a grateful person. Following the success of FUBAR, the actor has expressed his gratitude on Twitter for the support received and has also taken the opportunity to reminisce about his days as Conan the Barbarian: “Thank you, Spain! I love filming in Spain, I have great memories of Conan.”
Thank you Spain! ?? I love filming in Spain! So many fantastic memories of Conan. https://t.co/ysOpBdWzdr
For those who don’t remember, Conan the Barbarian was filmed in Spain in 1981, specifically in the cities of Ávila, Segovia, Madrid, Cuenca, and Almería. Interestingly, its production coincided with a significant historical event in our country: the attempted coup d’état by Antonio Tejero on February 23, 1981. In fact, Schwarzenegger himself has even mentioned how he “perfectly remembered” seeing the tanks taking to the streets.
