Attention Xbox Owners: Prepare for Disheartening Updates

Focusing on its new generation of consoles, Microsoft has confirmed that it will discontinue the production of games for Xbox One consoles.

At some point, it was necessary to let go of the previous generation, and it seems that point has now arrived for Microsoft. After nearly ten years since its launch, the head of Xbox Games Studios, Matt Booty, has confirmed that they will no longer develop any first-party games for consoles from the previous generation. In other words, all owners of an Xbox One, Xbox One S, or Xbox One X can expect not to receive any more games designed for their consoles. At least not from Microsoft.

While they have mentioned that they will continue working on games that are still active and present in the previous generation, such as Minecraft, their focus on not leaving anyone behind will be to further enhance Xbox Cloud Gaming. All of this should not come as a surprise because in the recent Xbox Games Showcase, there were no first-party games that ran natively on the Xbox One. Therefore, although it will still be some time before Xbox One owners feel the impact, it is a good time to start considering making the leap to the new generation for those who have not done so already. Especially after the announcement of the new Xbox Series S.

Solve the Enigma: Explore the Best Mystery Games across PC, Mobile, and Consoles

These are what we consider to be the best mystery games for PC, mobile and consoles of 2023. Download one of them now and solve the crime!

Are you looking to download mystery games? You’ve come to the right place. “Whodunnit” games are one of the most celebrated and popular genres among gamers who prefer a good story, puzzles, and investigative scenes over shooters, beat ’em ups, or action games.

Whether you’re on PC, console, or mobile, there’s an endless array of mystery games at your fingertips that will test your mind, creativity, and powers of deduction. Are you ready to download some of them? Put on your Sherlock Holmes hat because here are the best mystery games of the moment. We hope you enjoy them!

1. The Phoenix Wright Saga

If you enjoy mystery games, you’ll love Phoenix Wright. Also known as Ace Attorney, it is one of the most well-known and celebrated investigative video game series on the market. Created by Shu Takumi, the Phoenix Wright games put us in the shoes of this spiky-haired lawyer and his successor, Apollo Justice, on a crusade to solve the most bizarre cases.

Packed with humor and unforgettable characters, the Phoenix Wright series stands out for its excellent gameplay. Each case features a superb investigation and interrogation system that culminates in a final act where we must combine everything we’ve learned to defend our client and accuse the true culprit in the courtroom.

Regardless of whether you’re on PC, console, or mobile, you have a wide range of Phoenix Wright games at your disposal. If you’re new to this series, we highly recommend downloading Ace Attorney Trilogy, where you can enjoy the first three cases of the saga. If you get tired of Phoenix, you can also try your luck with Apollo Justice, his young successor. Personally, I highly recommend The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, a fantastic game where you take on the role of Naruhodo Ryunosuke, an ancestor of Wright who must unravel the most intricate mysteries in feudal Japan alongside Sherlock Holmes (or Herlock Sholmes).

2. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

With its remaster just around the corner, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective climbs to the second spot on our list. This brilliant mystery and investigation game from Capcom comes once again from the mind of Shu Takumi (Phoenix Wright). In this game, we’ll leave the courtroom behind to become an amnesiac ghost seeking answers about our own death. Sounds intriguing, right? Brace yourself, because twists and turns are coming!

Available for Android mobile devices and soon also for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective puts us in the shoes of a ghost detective right after his death. He has lost his memory, so he doesn’t remember who he is or what led to his untimely demise. That’s when our ghostly investigation begins, where we must solve puzzles and navigate through all sorts of ingenious situations by possessing objects. But that’s not all, you can also control time, rewinding and jumping back to the past whenever you want.

3. The Danganronpa saga

With three investigation games (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony), a third-person shooter (Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls), a board game (Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp), and an anime adaptation under its belt, the Danganronpa series has become a favorite among anime lovers, fans of the bizarre, and gore enthusiasts.

The main Danganronpa saga always follows a similar storyline. A group of elite students has been trapped against their will by Monokuma, a teddy bear with a sinister death game. To escape, one of them must murder a fellow student, and then a trial must be held to uncover the culprit.

If the killer is discovered, they will be subjected to a cruel and often gory execution. If, on the other hand, nobody finds out, the killer will escape while the rest of their classmates perish. While the first installment may be predictable and somewhat disappointing, the second and third entries are excellent.

For all Danganronpa fans, it’s worth noting that we will soon be able to enjoy Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE. This new mystery and investigation game will feature the sinister and fantastic touch that characterizes the creators of this series.

4. The Tex Murphy Game Series

You may not be familiar with the name Tex Murphy if you’re a novice gamer, but he was one of the most beloved detectives in PC games during the 90s. Mean Streets, Martian Memorandum, Under a Killing Moon, Overseer… there are plenty of Tex Murphy games to choose from. But why do I add them to this list? Thanks to a Kickstarter project, Tesla Effect arrived on our computers, a new title in the series that benefits from all the advantages of new technologies while retaining the charm of classic games.

In this game series, we step into the shoes of Tex Murphy, a detective in the year 2040 who, besides not being very good at his job, is obsessed with the golden age of private investigators like The Maltese Falcon.

What usually starts as a seemingly trivial case, like finding a lost cat, ends up turning into a scenario more akin to a James Bond saga. Only the sarcasm of the clumsy detective and, of course, your investigative skills will save the planet. Highly recommended for lovers of comedies and the film noir genre.

5. Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (remake)

One cannot talk about mystery games without including a title featuring the most famous detective of Baker Street. From the hands of the Ukrainian developer Frogwares comes Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, an excellent remake of the classic 2006 game. This project, born out of an exceptional Kickstarter campaign – in which I myself participated – brings back one of the most iconic titles in the Holmes game franchise. And this time, the detective isn’t facing a simple case, but the very myths of Cthulhu.

Set during the war against Russia, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is a faithful portrayal of the original game but with cutting-edge graphics, a new soundtrack, and new cases in the form of DLC. One of the most notable enhancements is the revival of the appearance, voice, and personality of Holmes that we saw in the superb Chapter One, paving the way for a possible resurrection of the detective’s remaining adventures. It’s a must-play for those seeking a great game, and especially for lovers of the stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and H.P. Lovecraft.

6. The Wolf Among Us

While we eagerly await news about The Wolf Among Us 2, its first installment is undoubtedly a game that deserves to be on the list of the best mystery games. It is based on the DC Comics series Fables and its charm lies precisely in the fact that well-known characters from fairy tales are living among humans incognito… but not quite as we remember them.

In The Wolf Among Us, we take on the role of Bigby Wolf (based obviously on the Big Bad Wolf) and find ourselves involved in a series of murders where the victims are all these characters from fables and children’s tales. The Wolf Among Us is a thrilling title that will keep you glued to your screen until you solve the mystery across its five episodes. However, be mindful of your decisions because, as is typical in TellTale Games’ titles, each choice and path you take will have repercussions on the story’s development.

7. PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo

Fans of visual novels have a must-play experience with PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo. This true gem developed by Square Enix immerses us in a story of mystery and terror set in late 20th century Japan. In this game, we take on the role of different characters involved in strange deaths where there is a common factor: deadly relics, vengeful spirits, and a mysterious resurrection ritual.

Although at its core it is a visual novel, PARANORMASIGHT is a game where we can interrogate, use objects, employ logic, investigate thanks to its brilliant 360-degree environments, and even curse and kill our enemies. However, where the game truly excels is in its story. It is intricately woven with so many twists that you won’t be able to stop playing until you unravel its mystery. In short, it’s an incredible game that no one should miss out on.

8. Thimbleweed Park

Created by Ron Gilbert, Thimbleweed Park is a love letter to the old point-and-click games of the era of Maniac Mansion, The Secret of Monkey Island, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In addition to being a true gift for nostalgic players, it is a truly entertaining mystery game where we must investigate a strange murder on the outskirts of the bizarre town of Thimbleweed Park.

Fun like few others and with humor that surpasses the absurd, Thimbleweed Park is a marvel. The game perfectly manages to make you laugh at all times while keeping you glued to your seat until you uncover the killer in the quirky town specialized in pillow sales. A special mention goes to its sheriff-a-reeno, a character that once you meet him, you will never forget him. It is a must-play for fans of graphic adventures and, unlike the controversial Return to Monkey Island, it provides a gratifying experience from beginning to end.

9. Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers marked a before and after in Sierra Online’s graphic adventures. The fantasy stories of the King’s Quest series were left behind to immerse ourselves fully in a title not recommended for minors, conceived by thriller writer Jane Jensen. In this game, we travel to New Orleans, where we step into the shoes of an egocentric and opportunistic writer on his quest to solve a series of murders related to voodoo.

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is a surprising, mature, and complex game with a storyline worthy of the best film. It’s not surprising that to this day it is considered one of the best graphic adventures for PC and mobile devices. The game even received a remake with updated HD graphics and 3D characters, further enhancing its appeal.

10. AI: The Somnium Files

We conclude the list with AI: The Somnium Files, an excellent mystery game created by Kotaro Uchikoshi, the mind behind the superb Zero Escape series (if you haven’t played it yet, you’re missing out). In this game, we take on the role of detective Kaname Date, a special agent tasked with investigating the serial killings of the so-called Cyclops. The killer’s modus operandi is to disembowel their victims and steal one of their eyes. To aid us in our investigation, we have the assistance of Aiba, an artificial intelligence located in Date’s eye, and the ability to enter the dreams and memories of the characters.

As is customary in Uchikoshi’s games, The Somnium Files features a gripping story that combines moments of comedy with more serious and even gruesome ones. The end result is a surprising plot full of twists and an exceptional conclusion. If you enjoyed AI: The Somnium Files, don’t miss its sequel, AI: The Somnium File – NirvanA Initiative, which, while not quite reaching the same heights as the first installment, is still highly entertaining.

Xbox Series X/S: The Best Launch Titles and Upcoming Games

Xbox Series X and S have starred in one of the most successful launches we’ve seen for a Microsoft console. Both platforms have sold out worldwide, and millions of gamers are already testing the extraordinary potential of this new generation of video game consoles. But a console needs more than just power to be a top seller. It also needs a full selection of games that you can play to enjoy all it has to offer.

If you still can’t decide between the PS5 or the Xbox Series X/S, then keep reading, because this article is for you! Today we’re going to tell you about the new Microsoft consoles’ launch games, exclusive titles and upcoming games that have been confirmed so far. We hope it helps you to choose your new console!

First of all, what is Smart Delivery?

One concept you need to understand before we reveal our list of new Xbox titles is Smart Delivery. With this innovative system, Microsoft’s new consoles take games from a lower platform, such as Xbox One, and optimize them for the new technology. In other words, if you purchase a title with Smart Delivery for Xbox One, when you buy the Xbox Series X/S you’ll have the same title for free but adapted for the new console. This means remarkable image and performance-related upgrades and much faster loading times.

Xbox Game Pass: Microsoft’s Secret Weapon

One of the most important features of Xbox Series X and S is Game Pass, a subscription service that many have already dubbed “The Netflix of video games.” According to one of the directors of Xbox Game Studios, the new Microsoft consoles won’t have exclusive games until at least a year after their launch. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy video games on them. In fact, gamers can look forward to playing them like never before thanks to this on-demand video game service.

For just €12.99 per month (and € 1 for the first month), any Microsoft console, PC or Android mobile device user can access to more than 150 games from the company’s ecosystem as well as a library with the best Electronic Arts titles. Bethesda games are expected to join the catalog shortly. You can find out all the details about Game Pass here.

Best Roblox Maps

Disclosure: Our team is always looking for things we think our readers will value. We can receive compensation for publishing this article.

Roblox is a massive treat for gamers. Like Minecraft, it offers almost endless possibilities as you use the tools it gives you to build your own maps and games. This, of course, means that other people are building maps and games too and, in fact, you don’t even have to build anything at all, beyond your Roblox avatar. If you don’t want to build, you can just play the best Roblox games.

Today then, we’re going to let you know about all the best online game multiplayer Roblox maps that have already been made by other players. To use them all you have to do is follow the links in this article, follow the instructions, and then away you go. Let’s get into our list then of the ten best games and Roblox maps.

Best maps on Roblox

PoliceSim: NYC

PoliceSim NYC

The PoliceSim: NYC Roblox game offers a pretty decent map of New York City for you to drive around with 19 other players. OK, we’re not talking about GTA levels of detail here but there is plenty of exploring to do on this map and lots of fun to be had while you’re doing it. All you need to do is jump in your car and follow calls that will pop up on your computer screen. These calls will also then show up on your map as green dots.

Mining Simulator

Mining Simulator

You might think this one would be better placed in our Best Roblox simulators article, but it deserves a place here too. This is for the excellent map the popular game allows players to explore. The map is chock full of diamonds and rare gems for you to find and dig out of the ground. Explore the map, find the diamonds, get rich, and then travel off to new maps in search of even more diamonds and gems.

Apartment 23

Apartment 23

Apartment 23 is a strange take on a Roblox map and doesn’t offer multiple game modes or minigames but is nonetheless very impressive. The premise here was to create a futuristic apartment for Roblox players to come and see. It has many different styles and looks absolutely fantastic. Definitely worth checking out.

Mad City

Mad City

Another excellent GTA inspired Roblox map here for players to get lost in. Played over 700 million times it won’t take you long playing this Roblox map to understand why it is one of the most popular Roblox games around. You have the choice to save the city as either a superhero or cop, or try and cause chaos as a criminal or supervillain. This is a fun game that you’ll love.

Tower Defense Simulator

Tower defense

This game is making it into our list because it gives players a lot of different maps to play with and adds new maps all the time. If you’ve ever played plants v zombies or other tower defense games, you’ll have an idea of what to expect with the gameplay here. This game also has a group, but you’ll need to pay 100 Robux to enter.

Azure Mines

Azure Mines

We’ve already celebrated the subterranean maps players can explore on Mining Simulator, but Azure Mines takes it to the next level. These are massive procedurally generated caves, meaning no map is ever the same as another. The detail here is incredible too with many different types of ore, runaway mine carts, and maps that just go on for days. This is a very impressive Roblox game with an infinite number of Roblox maps for you to explore.

Deep Space Tycoon

Deep Space Tycoon

This Roblox game offers a fantastic space map for players to explore. It is absolutely massive too with over 3,800 buttons, more than a dozen planets, and many different ships for players to fly around in. If you’ve ever wanted to explore outer space and were tempted by the recent game No Man’s Sky, this is the Roblox map for you.

Gear Land

The maps that Gear Land have to offer are big, well designed, well built, and just generally epic in every way. The gameplay is a Player v Enemy (PvE) offering but Gear Land really is here for its maps. You have cool fantasy lands, rural farm maps, evil baddy bases, and small-town America maps among others. Check out Gear Land, you won’t be disappointed.

Sundown Island

Sundown Island is a fertile land where wolves can roam free and thrive. With new maps being added all the time including maps like Wolftopia, Blooming Forest, and Oasis. All you need to do to explore Sundown Island is create your own wolf complete with personalized ears and accessories and then head off into the unique environment the Sundown Island map offers players. Sundown Island has role-playing game (RPG) elements, has recently added new worlds, and has plans to increase the size of the map in the near future.

Arsenal

Arsenal

Arsenal is another action-packed Roblox game, a la Call of Duty, that gives players access to a lot of cool Roblox maps. This game is a first-person shooter (FPS game) that has plenty of different weapons on offer from knives, guns, R15s, and ridiculous golden knives. Players score points through making kills and assists and can control the action using a Gamepad and even on mobile. This is a fast-paced game that is lots of fun. Furthermore, there is a VIP server that has some great maps on it like the Abandoned Area. Check this game out now, you will not be disappointed.

Wrapping up

As you’ve seen there are a lot of cool Roblox games for you to play that have some excellent maps for you to explore. Multiplayer games like PoliceSim, Arsenal, and Mad City offer experiences that wouldn’t be out of place in a AAA game. Sure, their graphics fall within the confines offered by Roblox but they offer fast-action gameplay and huge maps to explore. Other games like Azure Mines and Deep Space Tycoon are absolutely massive in scale and would take days and maybe even weeks to explore. The main thing, however, is that Roblox has lots to offer and many different types of maps for you to explore.

Even though it came out over two years ago, Sniper Elite 4 is one of the most tactical shooters on the market. The game will put you in 1943 Italy as an expert marksman behind enemy lines. You’ll be setting up traps, lining up shots, gunning for high-ranking officers, and – if things get dicey – running for your life. The game has smarter AI than the previous games, a grittier plot involving a new Nazi weapon, and night missions during which the player can eliminate light sources to mask their presence. Bloodborne is a world created by your fears. Your goal is to meet those fears head-on and conquer them in a world rife with danger and risk, where death and insanity lurk around every corner. The title is reminiscent of Dark Souls, with its death and save mechanics seamlessly intertwined with gameplay, making for a harrowing experience for even the most well-versed gamers. Combat is quick and demands a strong offensive, while you need to equally keep up your defenses against hordes of nightmarish enemies and merciless bosses.

3. Fallout 4

Fallout 4

When being shot in the head and left for dead in a ditch somewhere in the wasteland only makes you angry, you know you’re in for a fun ride. Fallout: 4 does everything that a Fallout game can do right: Massive world, strong RPG elements, factions to join or fight, a good crafting system, and a post-nuclear apocalyptic world swarming with mutated creatures. The game also improves upon several core features of previous Fallout titles, including combat, kill animations, easier character customization, and a modified perk system. Oh, and Dogmeat is still such a good boy.

2. The Last of Us

Finally we get a zombie game with character elements
Immerse yourself in a gripping narrative of two people struggling through a post-apocalyptic world.

A true masterpiece from Naughty Dog. The Last of Us is set in the near future after a fungal plague wipes out nearly all of humanity. Grizzled smuggler Joel agrees to escort a young girl, Ellie, on a dangerous cross-country journey in the hopes of finding a cure for the infection.

The story and performances of this game are what make it stand out. The emotional plot pairs well with stealth heavy survival gameplay, making each encounter into a uniquely satisfying challenge. The game’s Left Behind DLC is also available on PlayStation Now, and though short, is just as emotional and powerful as the main game. With the Last of Us 2 on the horizon, now is the perfect time to get caught up.

1. Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead is the most popular game on PlayStation Now for good reason, and with Red Dead Redemption 2 now available, there’s no better time to play the original. The Rockstar title puts players in the shoes of outlaw John Marston in the waning days of the Old West.

Players can explore a sprawling map featuring seemingly endless side quests and locations, customize their character, try their luck at gambling, enter horse races, and more. Think of it as a sort of Wild West version of Grand Theft Auto… except instead of cars, you’ll be hijacking horses.

Do I “keep” PlayStation Now games?

There is a bit of a concern over whether or not you truly “own” your PlayStation Now games. However, there is a simple answer.

If you buy a game on PlayStation Now, the game is yours for as long as you keep your subscription. However, if you stop paying for your subscription, you cannot play any of your games or any of its DLC. If you renew your subscription, you will be able to play all of your games and DLC once again.
