Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake: A Closer Look at the Epic Revival of Big Boss and His Thrilling Story

We tell you everything we know about the expected new Konami game.

For a couple of years now, we’ve been hearing rumors about the return of Metal Gear Solid in the form of a remake. The information came from journalists who are known for their reliable sources, as they don’t usually spread rumors without a foundation. These are the same journalists who were talking about the already announced remake of Silent Hill 2, with the only question remaining: when would Konami announce this highly anticipated remake?

We had to wait until the PlayStation Showcase to finally see the first trailer of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake. As the available information is a bit confusing, let’s try to explain everything we know about this new version.

Name has been changed

Yes, although we’ve been calling it Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake or Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, the reality is that it’s none of these names. The Japanese company has decided to change the title to something different, something that has caught everyone’s attention due to the word it uses: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

Yes, the “3” has disappeared in favor of the letter “Delta”. Why is it called that? Konami explained on their official Twitter account that the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet fits the concept of the remake project, as Delta means “change” or “difference” without altering the structure. In other words, the idea is that it will be the same game that was released on PlayStation 2 back in 2004, but with the necessary changes so that not everything remains the same.

What is the mysterious “development team”?

When Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was announced, one of the most striking aspects was the sudden appearance of a letter from the creative team signed as “the development team.” Just like that, without further details. But who is the team behind the game?

If it had been Konami, it would have been normal for them to announce it, but due to this secrecy, rumors had to be relied upon. The rumors pointed towards Virtuos being behind the game. As hours passed, the studio itself posted a snake emoji on their Twitter account, a clear statement that tells us who “the development team” is.

Virtuos is a Chinese studio that has been known for providing support for many high-profile titles. This includes games like The Last of Us Part II and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Additionally, they have worked on numerous game ports, such as Dark Souls: Remastered for Nintendo Switch (among many others).

Are there new voices?

With this announcement, we have some questions. Konami has mentioned that the remake “will feature the original actors” who portrayed “a rich story and expansive survival and combat features in hostile environments, all with unprecedented graphics and immersive sound.”

What does this mean exactly? Will all the actors be re-recorded? Will the voices from the original game be reused? The Japanese company has played a bit coy on this matter, and it doesn’t seem like it will be confirmed anytime soon.

However, one thing we can be certain of is the significant visual overhaul the game has undergone, as shown in the provided images. There’s no better way to witness the impressive comparison than by watching the following video.

When is it launched and where?

As expected, the release date for the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake has not been announced yet. There is no official publication, and even the leaked information didn’t provide any details on when it might be released. In other words, we still have to wait a while longer.

What we do know is that it will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC. Although initially there was speculation that the game would be exclusive to Sony’s console, the information following the event made it clear that it will be released on all the new platforms.

Prime Video showcases a revered anime: 5 reasons to watch.

Paranoia Agent is a cult anime and now it's coming to Amazon Prime Video, to encourage you to watch it, we give you five reasons why you shouldn't miss it

Paranoia Agent is one of the most unique series in the history of modern anime. Referred to on more than a few occasions as the Twin Peaks of anime, it should come as no surprise that it has behind it a cult phenomenon that is more present among film and television fans than among otaku and anime fans in general. Paranoia Agent is not your typical anime series. It’s not what you think of when we talk about anime. Or not the first thing you think of.

Created by Satoshi Kon, a renowned anime director of worldwide prestige who left us prematurely on August 24, 2010 -of which I also wrote a book-, the series condenses all the obsessions of its author. Metafiction. The difference between reality and what happens in people’s minds, if such a difference exists. The interest in the female characters. His warm, human look, always ready to make a deep portrait of the psychology of his characters.

Prime Video DOWNLOAD

So, because you shouldn’t miss Paranoia Agent now that it’s premiering on Amazon Prime Video, we’re going to give you five reasons why you should watch it. Five specific reasons why you should drop everything you’re doing and go running to see this masterpiece not only of anime, but of modern television in general. Because Paranoia Agent is the demonstration that Satoshi Kon was capable of embroidering the best audiovisual fiction.

Describes our society by telling us interconnected stories

If there is something undeniable about all of Satoshi Kon’s work, it is that he is very interested in the behavior of human beings. How we think, how we relate to reality and how that affects us and our environment. That’s something that in Paranoia Agent he took a step further, dedicating entire episodes, and the series itself, to how society’s ideas can end up shaping reality. Both in people’s private lives and in society itself.

This takes shape in different episodes in different ways. Although the whole plot revolves around this idea, it is best if we give examples of a few particular episodes so as not to gut the whole series. For example, in the second episode, a sixth-grade boy goes from being extremely popular to being absolutely marginalized by being associated with the boy with in-line skates and a golden baseball bat who assaults a woman in the first episode. Similarly, in the ninth episode a group of housewives share stories about that same boy, clearly made up, only to disbelieve the otherwise true stories of another housewife who does not belong to their clique.

All of this ends up connecting to the overall plot in different ways, threading it all together both narratively and philosophically. And that’s one of the most fascinating things about Paranoia Agent. How Satoshi Kon managed to make a series that manages to introduce us to unique conflicts in each episode that feel important in their own right and speak to us about social problems that we know and understand, but also form a larger picture of our problems as a society.

Shows his story (does not tell it) through his villain

Because the story of Paranoia Agent is the story of its villain. A guy always smiling, with golden roller skates, a bat bent in half equally golden, and homicidal ambitions with the protagonists of each particular episode. For what reason? That’s something the story never explicitly tells us. It doesn’t need to. It prefers to do something much better: it shows us.

Satoshi Kon took the maxim “don’t tell, show” to heart his whole life. That’s why the guy with the golden bat doesn’t give speeches. No one explains his behavior. And the only explanations for his behavior come from clearly delusional characters. His behavior is understood as soon as we think about who he assaults, what happens when those people are assaulted and what happens in the last episodes, when the other main characters manage to run away from him.

Paranoia Agent does not leave no stone unturned. Everything is connected. Nothing is explained, but the attentive viewer will know everything that has happened and why. Is it a difficult series? Not necessarily. But it’s not a series to watch in your sleep. That’s why the opening is thunderous and the ending is almost a lullaby: Satoshi Kon wanted to wake us up before it started and send us to sleep at the end of each episode. Because Paranoia Agent should be lived like that. Almost like a dream.

Anime Enthusiasts Rejoice: Check Out the Hottest Releases on Netflix this June

Netflix brings us some meaty anime to enjoy this June in the form of Pokémon, Black Clover, and an adaptation of a modern cult classic.

In June, the heat starts to rise, and even though the summer season hasn’t officially begun, that doesn’t mean Netflix is leaving us without some exciting anime releases. Although there may be few, they are quite substantial. Within just two weeks, Netflix brings us renowned titles returning and a manga cult classic receiving its first-ever animated adaptation. So, without further ado, let’s see what Netflix has in store for us this premiere season.

Netflix DOWNLOAD

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King (June 16)

The popular series by Yūki Tabata is premiering its first film after four years since the beginning of its anime broadcast. In “Black Clover: The Sword of the Wizard King,” which releases on June 16th, Asta will have to confront Konrad, the former magic king of the Clover Kingdom. He must join forces with both old and new characters to overcome the greatest threat he has faced so far.

“Black Clover” is a series heavily influenced by Kentaro Miura’s “Berserk” while drawing inspiration from “Dragon Ball Z,” “YuYu Hakusho,” and other fantasy works like “The Lord of the Rings,” “Harry Potter,” and Guillermo del Toro’s films. The result is a series with a more teenage-oriented approach, gaining a significant following among teenagers and adults alike. After a two-year hiatus, fans hope this movie marks the return of the series in 2024.

Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: Part 3 (June 23)

Ash and Pikachu have already completed their journey in the anime, but in the western world, we haven’t seen it officially yet. Until this month of June. Because in “Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: Part 3,” we will witness exactly that. We’ll see Ash face off against Galar Champion Lionel for the title of World Champion, with all his travel companions cheering him on as they continue their own adventures, including encountering the legendary Pokemon Groudon and Kyogre.

Netflix DOWNLOAD

While this is the twenty-fifth season of the anime, the good news is that it can be watched without prior context. With the previous two parts available on Netflix, that’s all you need to catch up on the final adventures of Ash and Pikachu and prepare yourself to seamlessly continue with the new era of Pokémon, this time without Ash but with another Pikachu.

Ōoku: The Inner Chambers (June 29)

One of the most intriguing releases this month on Netflix is “Ōoku: The Inner Chambers.” Originally published as a manga by Fumi Yoshinaga from 2004 to 2020 in nineteen volumes in the Melody magazine, and adapted into film and television twice, this is the first time the series is being adapted into an anime. It holds great reverence in Japan and is considered a modern cult classic, which is not surprising considering its fascinating premise.

Ōoku is a historical series set in the Edo period, spanning from 1603 to 1867. In this alternate reality, a strange plague has caused a rapid decline in the male population, leading women to take on most positions of power. As a result, men find themselves in subordinate roles, assuming historically female-dominated positions. The series presents a feminist gender perspective, offering a unique portrayal of Japan’s history and highlighting the idea that, ultimately, Simone de Beauvoir was right: one is not born a woman, but rather becomes one.

Breaking the Barrier: Windows Users Can Now Open RAR Files Without WinRAR after Nearly 30 Years

Almost three decades after the release of WinRAR, Windows will now allow us to compress and decompress RAR files without the need for third-party programs.

Let’s lay the cards on the table: Who among you actually bought a WinRAR license? Seriously, who did? Even with all the “cleverness” that characterizes Spaniards, many of you might know people who have bought a license for Windows or Microsoft Office (the person writing these lines is one of them). But WinRAR?

WinRAR DOWNLOAD

A few years ago, most of us relied on WinRAR during times when… well… it was the only program available for compressing and extracting RAR files. This file format offered many advantages over the classic ZIP files, including better file compression and the ability to set passwords.

However, while ZIP files always came pre-installed with Windows operating systems, to extract those RAR files we downloaded from the internet (all legally, of course), we had no choice but to download WinRAR… and pay for it. Yes, we all ignored the message urging us to purchase a WinRAR license. And yes, it could be a bit annoying.

Now, nearly three decades after WinRAR’s release, Windows has finally decided to offer native support for RAR files without the need for any third-party software. Microsoft confirms this in a blog post titled “A New Era of Productivity,” where they discuss the future of Windows 11.

“We’ve added native support for additional file formats, including tar, 7-zip, rar, gz, and many others using the open-source project libarchive,” states Microsoft. “Now you can get improved performance from file functionality during compression on Windows.”

Thanks to libarchive, an open-source project with a library that supports various file compression formats, Windows 11 will now allow us to compress and extract virtually any type of file without the need to install WinRAR or other compression programs like 7-zip.

WinRAR DOWNLOAD

While it’s true that the vast majority of us never had many issues with WinRAR (including the nagging message), this native support will be highly useful for many less tech-savvy individuals. The days of receiving WhatsApp messages like “Hey, how do I open this file you sent me?” are over.

Is the future of ChatGPT in jeopardy in Europe? Here’s what OpenAI’s CEO says

The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, recently expressed his concern about the progress of the new AI law that is being processed in the European Union.

Artificial intelligences are turning our world upside down. As is often the case with major scientific and technological advancements, the “AI revolution” has sparked a significant debate surrounding the morality and legality of this technology, particularly regarding the sourcing of data used to train these language models.

ChatGPT ACCESS

In an effort to prevent further conflicts beyond the current ones, the European Union is advancing a new regulation known as the “AI Act”. This legislation has already been approved by the European Parliament and is set to be ratified in June through a plenary vote. The forthcoming implementation of this new law may be the reason why Bard, Google’s AI, is still unavailable in Europe.

While many citizens appreciate technological advancements being accompanied by regulatory legislation, the EU’s decision seems to have unsettled one of the most prominent AI companies today. In response to the progress of this new European law, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, hinted a few days ago at the possibility of his company ceasing operations in Europe. This would prevent European users from continuing to utilize products such as ChatGPT or DALL-E 2, among others.

As reported by The Verge, Altman expressed having “many concerns” about the EU’s AI law, which would heavily restrict what language model developers can do. The potential prohibitions being considered include the indiscriminate extraction of biometric data from users and the use of AI as an emotion recognition system by law enforcement, workplaces, or educational institutions.

ChatGPT ACCESS

If ChatGPT were considered “high-risk” under the new AI law, OpenAI would have to meet certain security and transparency requirements, which concerns the company’s CEO. However, shortly after his statements were made public, Altman sought to clarify his words and stated that they have had several conversations about the new law and that they “do not have plans to leave [Europe].”

Tidy Up Your Dock: How to Show Only Open Apps on Your Mac

We can reduce the space it occupies or the information it shows in the Dock by making it show us only the open apps.

It is from the Dock of our Mac, the bottom bar, from where we access the apps that we use most often and also those that are in use at the moment. This is how the Dock works by default, but if we want to reduce the space it occupies or the information it displays we can make it show only the open apps.

Apple Developer DOWNLOAD

The minimalism of displaying only apps in use

It is thanks to a Terminal command that we can modify the behavior of the Dock. A behavior that we will configure to show only the open apps, the ones with a dot underneath, something like a Do Not Disturb mode for apps. Here it is a good idea to take a screenshot of the current layout of the Dock to be able to recover it if we want. Then the steps are these:

  1. We open the Terminal app. We can look for it in Spotlight or in the Utilities folder inside Applications.
  2. We copy and paste the following command: defaults write com.apple.dock static-only -bool true; killall Dock
  3. Press Enter (↵).

That’s all. The Dock will resize instantly and all the apps we have added will disappear except the ones we are running. Accessing the rest of them is as easy as using Launchpad, pinching with four fingers on the trackpad, or thanks to Spotlight.

Restoring the default Dock operation is as simple as repeating the steps we have just seen replacing the command used with this one: defaults write com.apple.dock static-only -bool false; killall Dock

Just as we can customize the home screen of our iPhone, this simple configuration, as we can see, but really interesting when it comes to managing the information we see in the Dock. A configuration designed to adapt to our habits and needs and that we can modify in a couple of clicks.

Fast X: has it been a box office failure?

Fast X has been in theaters for two weeks, but how is it doing at the box office?

Fast & Furious is one of the most successful franchises at the box office in recent decades. Since it started focusing on the story of Vin Diesel’s character and the late Paul Walker, it has continued to grow, and all the installments have achieved great numbers, reaching its peak in 2015 with the seventh installment.

Amazon Prime Video DOWNLOAD

However, this trend may have changed with Fast X. Despite being one of the most anticipated releases of the year and putting all their efforts into making this first film of the final trilogy a success, the box office numbers have not been as good as expected. In fact, they have been disappointing.

Record low after record high

During the opening weekend, Fast X grossed $67.5 million in the United States, significantly lower than previous installments and falling nearly forty million short of The Little Mermaid, which dethroned it this weekend. Additionally, in the international box office, it only reached $251.5 million, nearly $200 million less than the eighth installment (we exclude the ninth because it was released during the COVID period).

However, this week things have improved for Fast X. As reported by Deadline, Fast X has grossed $507.26 million worldwide during the American Memorial Day weekend. Out of this total, $399.3 million comes from international markets, and $108 million from the domestic box office.

Indeed, the tide may be turning, especially thanks to positive word-of-mouth from fans and its international success. The overall performance of Fast X is yet to be determined, but the strategic decision to release it a week before the Memorial Day weekend, where it only had to contend with The Little Mermaid as a major release, has helped balance the box office figures.

Legal Nightmares: A Lawyer’s Tale of Using ChatGPT in a Trial Gone Wrong

A lawyer used ChatGPT in his research on a case in the United States and ended up presenting examples of cases that did not exist.

Yes, ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence that allows us to do practically everything: school assignments, movie scripts, political speeches, poems… Buuut, even with all the versatility of the language model created by OpenAI, it’s not the first time we’ve told you that AI loves to lie.

ChatGPT ACCESS

Because, yes, when ChatGPT doesn’t have enough resources to resolve a question, the AI tends to mix data and make things up in order to get by. This “habit,” combined with poor professionalism, can lead to examples like a recent trial in the United States, where ChatGPT even made up several legal cases.

As reported by The New York Times, defense lawyers for Colombian airline Avianca pointed out in the trial, held in New York, that the prosecution had presented nonexistent legal cases, including fake citations. This statement was confirmed by the presiding judge of the case, Kevin Castel, who declared that at least 6 of the presented legal cases were invented.

Steven A. Schwartz, the prosecution’s lawyer, admitted in an affidavit that he used ChatGPT in his research and only verified the information by asking the chatbot about its sources and whether it was lying. The AI embarked on a forward escape, firmly asserting that the detailed cases were real, and even claiming they could be found in legal research services like LexisNexis or Westlaw.

OpenAI itself warns that ChatGPT may generate “incorrect information”.

In one of the invented cases, ChatGPT took data from a real case but completely changed the names of those involved, the details, and even the date of the case. Schwartz, who “was unaware of the possibility that the content could be false,” now “deeply regrets using generative artificial intelligence to supplement the legal research conducted here and will never do so in the future without absolute verification of its authenticity.”

Currently, the sanctions that Judge Castel will impose on the prosecution lawyers are being studied. Another lawyer involved in the case, Peter LoDuca, will also have to appear before the judge to provide explanations.

ChatGPT ACCESS

If there’s one thing the Terminator saga has taught us, it’s never to trust artificial intelligence. So, if you use ChatGPT to assist you with any work, always verify the accuracy of the information, or you may encounter problems in the future. Consider yourselves warned.
