Starfield, the highly anticipated video game, has released its final trailer before launch, featuring an exclusive track by Imagine Dragons

The fashion group that rose to video game fame thanks to League of Legends has decided to collaborate again with a studio: Bethesda and Xbox.

There isn’t a single gamer who isn’t excited to play Starfield on September 1st… or September 6th. This will depend on whether they’ve purchased the Premium Edition or if, on the other hand, they’ve opted for the basic edition of the game / Game Pass subscription.

And as Bethesda and Xbox know that they have a lot at stake, aiming to demonstrate their competitiveness with PS5 this generation, the marketing team has decided to collaborate with Imagine Dragons, one of the trendiest music groups on the international scene.

Starfield is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and everyone will be able to see if it lives up to the expectations starting tomorrow. It’s expected to be a huge success and dominate all industry conversations… at least throughout September.

A song to convince us all

In recent years, fans have criticized Bethesda and Xbox’s marketing strategy for Starfield. It was announced in 2018, and we didn’t see anything of it until 2022 (if we overlook a cinematic trailer in 2021). Even then, after some gameplay in 2022, we still didn’t receive anything apart from a few developer updates until this summer.

But for the past month, Xbox has been working at full throttle to go all out. Just in this month alone, they’ve generated significant anticipation for the imminent release with early access, developer Q&A sessions, new trailers, pre-release review copies sent out weeks in advance, and much, much more.

Now, to celebrate the launch, Imagine Dragons has released a new song titled “Children of the Sky,” inspired by Starfield. Dan Reynolds, the lead singer of Imagine Dragons, has spoken about the song.

“Bethesda has created iconic games that we’ve been playing for most of our lives, and we feel honored to have collaborated on this song for Starfield. The song, like the game, raises some of the toughest questions we face as humans trying to find our place in the universe,” explains the band’s leader.

When can we play Starfield?

If you have reserved the regular edition of Starfield, you will be able to play starting from September 6th at 2:00 AM. In the case that you have reserved the Premium or Constellation editions, you will have the opportunity to enjoy an Early Access that allows you to play on September 1st at 2:00 AM.

But that’s not all. Starting today, August 31st, players who have pre-ordered the game on Xbox and Steam can preload the game onto their devices. This way, as soon as the clock strikes 2:00 AM on either September 1st or 6th, you can start playing the game without having to wait for it to download and install.

This Firefox browser tool will protect your email from spam

Mozilla is well aware that one of the major challenges on the internet today is the abundance of spam messages in email. That’s why their useful Firefox Relay tool will now be available openly within the browser for all users who want to better filter their messages.

In today’s digital landscape, many websites that offer products and services often require email submission to access promotions, discounts, or free content. By doing so, companies gain another contact to send mass content to. However, thanks to this filtering tool, all this low-interest content will be kept out of our personal email.

An anti-spam filter

This Firefox filter works as follows: you’ll have a personalized “filter address” where you can access the spam messages in question, and that will be the address you use when a website asks for your email to access certain content, offers, or discounts. It’s another measure from Mozilla for the benefit of the user, who is constantly bombarded with unwanted emails.

This Firefox service isn’t entirely new, as it used to be available as a browser extension, as they presented in the past (as shown in the video below). Now, the Firefox Relay service is fully integrated into the browser, without the need to download extensions.

Firefox in the face of competition

In recent years, the competition among major web browsers has become more intense than ever before. While Chrome established itself as the most popular browser, and systems like Firefox, Edge, Safari, and Opera maintained a lower profile for years, the landscape has changed. Nowadays, all of them are striving to make compelling improvements to attract users to their respective ecosystems.

For Chrome, its major focus is on integrated and connected work with many other Google services, where it flexes its muscles. Edge, for instance, is heavily investing in Bing and additional services like Bing Chat, its generative AI, which is already integrated into Edge. Firefox, on the other hand, continues to enhance its Firefox Relay service and has recently added support for extensions designed for Android devices.

One of the most beloved game developers in the world bids us farewell

The Mimimi Games studio was one of your favorites for sure. And I say was, because we are talking about a team that has lowered the blind because…

If you’re a fan of real-time strategy games, the Munich-based studio Mimimi Games was undoubtedly one of your favorites. And I say “was” because we’re talking about a studio that’s bidding farewell and closing its doors for good.

So, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew was their last game. The developer has stated that they will continue to support the title for a while and are already working on a patch and additional content.

Many fans will be perplexed, as the studio had been releasing hit after hit since 2016’s Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, including 2016’s Blades of the Shogun, 2020’s Desperados III, and 2021’s Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun – Aiko’s Choice.

And Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew was the studio’s first self-published title.

The reason behind a farewell that’s hard to comprehend

The founders of Mimimi Games explained that the decision was made due to a combination of a stressful situation and limited income due to the niche nature of the genre.

“Creating these games was amazing and incredibly exhausting at the same time. Achieving the level of quality that Mimimi aspires to is challenging and requires focus and dedication. We also have to acknowledge that our future production costs are growing faster than the potential income of our genre. The increase in financial pressure and risk level became unsustainable,” they explained.

“Furthermore, every time our games approached release and finally became fun to play, a new struggle for funding the next projects began, making this cycle continuous,” they concluded.

The heads of Mimimi also mentioned that switching genres for new projects isn’t an option, as it would further stress the team. Additionally, they lack the experience to create games in other genres.

At least, all of Mimimi’s games will remain playable on all storefronts. Honestly, it’s worth trying their titles, even if it’s posthumously.

Microsoft’s latest desperate attempts to get people to use Bing are hard to believe

We have received complaints from the United States where they have begun to experience a harassment and demolition campaign to get Windows users to try Bing…

Microsoft seems to think it’s okay to put a popup window on your computer above my applications and games just because users are using Chrome instead of Microsoft Edge, their own browser.

Windows 11 DOWNLOAD

And don’t think it’s a regular notification. It doesn’t show up in the Windows 11 notification center, nor is it connected to the part of Windows 11 that suggests new features.

This notification is, literally, a fake executable file that has somehow appeared in c:\windows\temp\mubstemp and is digitally signed by Microsoft, as explained by Tom Warren in The Verge.

Tom Warren – The Verge

And Microsoft is apologizing… and they’re saying they will try to fix it

“We are aware of these reports and have paused this notification while we investigate and take appropriate action to address this unintended behavior,” says Caitlin Roulston, Director of Communications, in a statement to The Verge.

If we look on the internet, there are many users who thought it was malware; for three months, you can see on Reddit users trying to figure out why they were seeing the popup window.

The problem is that this isn’t the first time they’ve done this. Their feud with Google Chrome goes back a long way, and even in Windows 10, the hostilities began with Google’s browser.

The company has used various methods to get people to switch from Google and Chrome to Bing and Edge. Microsoft has been employing a variety of prompts for years, with popup windows appearing within Chrome, on the Windows taskbar, and in other places.

Microsoft has even forced people into Edge after a Windows update, and regularly displays a full-screen message to switch to Bing and Edge after updates.

We already pay for Windows; we don’t want ads

Windows isn’t free; it requires a license that almost all consumers end up paying for. It might be included in the price of a laptop with an OEM Windows license or a product key if you’ve built your own PC.

That’s why Microsoft should respect the fact that people already pay for Windows and don’t want to be bombarded with ads, as Tom Warren rightly complains.

Windows is a crucial productivity tool for many people and shouldn’t be treated like a cheap streaming device loaded with ads.

If you’re a fan of Sonic with pixelated graphics, we have some really bad news for you

“We look at pixel art and love it, but when we think about 10-20 years in the future, we don’t think it’s a viable art style for our players” says Takashi Iizuka, the team manager. How do you dare.

I have to confess something: yes, the 3D Sonic games are great, very stylish and everything you want, even the 2D ones with cartoon-like graphics are charming, but there’s something about a good pixelated game that surpasses everything else. Maybe it’s because the blue hedgehog brings back retro memories, or perhaps it’s because I grew up with Mega Drive games, but I can’t imagine leaving behind the 8-bit era… even though, considering what’s happening, I might have to do so reluctantly.

Polygonal Sonic

I like ‘Sonic Superstars‘ and its stylized 2D, almost cartoonish art style, a bit like an unsolicited response to ‘Super Mario Bros Wonder,’ it’s beautiful. But what I didn’t expect is that the Sonic Team would claim that this game is a statement of intent and a farewell to the chunky pixel. “We look at pixel art and we love it, but when we think about 10-20 years in the future, we don’t believe it’s a viable art style for our players,” says Takashi Iizuka, the team’s director. How daring.

“To truly move forward and evolve, we want to make sure we present something that we will continue to evolve in 10-20 years and for which we will create new content.” Back then, they also believed that the path to follow was ‘Sonic and the Black Knight’ and that initial design of the movie, so it’s not the first time they hit the brakes and rephrase their words.

This naturally means that we can say goodbye to another ‘Sonic Mania,’ at least as it was originally conceived. And ‘Sonic Mania’ is, without a doubt, a fantastic game… which future generations, not accustomed to pixels, might see as something unappealing. It’s Sega’s way of sending us gamers to the gaming retirement home, it seems. And this is despite their intention to keep using Sonic in any way they can: “We’re expanding into movies and series, but we need to have both 2D and 3D games for our gamer audience.”

Well, we’ll always have indie developers with limited budgets and gray hairs, I suppose. Sniff.

As announced today by the Japanese company, these are the three games coming to PS Plus starting from September 1, 2023:

  • Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero.

Undoubtedly, a weak month for Sony amidst the year-end battle with Xbox, who will be introducing highly anticipated titles like Starfield, Lies of P, Sea of Star, and PayDay 3 to their Game Pass. Quite impressive.

We’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to find out which games are coming to the Extra and Premium subscriptions, where Sony goes all out.

And as a bonus, say hello to the price increase

Sony has taken advantage of the end of the press release to announce that starting from September 6th, they will increase the price of 12-month subscriptions to PlayStation Plus worldwide and across all benefit plans.

According to PlayStation, this price adjustment will allow them to continue offering high-quality games and value-added benefits to the PlayStation Plus subscription service.

Here are the new prices for the 12-month subscription plans of PlayStation Plus:

  • 12-month subscription to PlayStation Plus Essential: $79.99 USD | €71.99 Euro | £59.99 GBP | 6,800 Yen

The new prices for the 12-month subscription will remain at a discounted rate compared to purchasing 1 or 3-month subscriptions over a 12-month period.

For current 12-month subscribers, this price increase will not take effect until their next renewal date after November 6th.

However, any subscription changes made starting from September 6th, such as upgrading or downgrading tiers or purchasing additional time, will reflect the new prices.

The name of a character in ‘One Piece’ was changed at the last minute due to the success of ‘Naruto’

What if we told you that everything you know about Sanji could be different… starting with his very name?

What would ‘One Piece’ be without Sanji, the cook of the Baratie who satisfies Luffy, Zoro, and the rest’s voracious hunger? He was the fifth member to join the crew, dreams of finding the All Blue, and if you receive a kick from him, you might not live to tell the tale. But what if we told you that everything you know about Sanji could be different… starting with his very name?

Shounen Jump DOWNLOAD

Family, today we eat

On September 21, 1999, when ‘One Piece’ had already been successful for two years, ‘Naruto‘ premiered in Shonen Jump. Masashi Kishimoto’s manga was an immediate hit, and during its 15 years of publication, it had a fraternal rivalry with Eiichiro Oda’s work as the most beloved by readers. What we didn’t know is that without the ninjas of the Hidden Leaf Village, we would have never had Sanji.

You see, when designing him, Oda intended for Sanji to be like Mr. Pink from ‘Reservoir Dogs‘: a dark-skinned gunslinger who was named, indeed, Naruto. Interestingly, Sanji appeared a year before Kishimoto’s series, but Oda had already been informed that it would begin soon and would be a long-running series, so he decided to be gracious.

Sanji was one of the characters that underwent significant changes when brought to the anime… or at least in the version that 4Kids aired in the United States, where they censored the cigarette he always has in his mouth and replaced it with a lollipop. Eiichiro Oda found this so amusing that years later, when Sanji had a clone, he had him lick a lollipop to differentiate them.

There’s very little time left to see how Sanji behaves in live action in the Netflix series, played by Taz Skylar, but we can’t contain our excitement. Will there be any reference to his original concept as Naruto? Who knows.
