Liquid Swords, the studio behind Samson, has had a complicated launch for its new open-world game that combines elements of crime and roguelike. Since its arrival on the market, Samson has received a mixed rating of 53% on Steam, where most of the negative reviews focus on bugs and technical issues that have affected the player experience.

A game with enormous potential

Consternated by the multiple issues that have troubled the community, Liquid Swords has acknowledged the development challenges they faced, which included significant layoffs that led to restructuring the game. Originally more ambitious, Samson was transformed into a more streamlined experience, which, while allowing the studio to finally reach the launch, did not result in a polished product.

Despite the criticism, the game has shown moderate success in sales, possibly driven by its reduced price and the growing interest in open-world experiences. Liquid Swords has released several patches to address the bugs reported by users and improve the overall performance of the game. Among these, a second patch is in progress, focused on stability and the feedback received in recent weeks.

Players have expressed their desire to enjoy the game environment more deeply. “The atmosphere is stellar and I would love to spend more time in this city, but the day-to-day gameplay ruins the entire experience,” commented a user on Steam. As Liquid Swords works on improving Samson, the community continues to hope that the upcoming updates will enhance the gaming experience and resolve the technical issues that have marred its launch.

The cat breeding simulation game, Mewgenics, has achieved a remarkable milestone in its first week, surpassing the one million copies sold mark. This success was revealed by one of its creators, Tyler Glaiel, through his account on X, where he thanked players for their support. Expectations for the title were high, with approximately 400,000 wishlists before the launch that increased to 600,000 after the publication of positive reviews.

Mewgenics is taking the audience by storm

Despite the controversy surrounding the voice cast of the game, Mewgenics has reached impressive concurrent player numbers on Steam, peaking at over 115,000 and currently having more than 96,500 active players. This popularity suggests a strong ongoing interest in the game, and the player base is expected to grow even further with the arrival of support for languages such as simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian, as well as console versions that are in development.

Regarding the future of the game, several updates are planned, although Glaiel has warned players that the first patch, expected by the end of this week, will only include minor fixes. There will be no significant balance changes, which has generated some curiosity among users. Glaiel also mentioned that some aspects of the game, such as the “Merciless infinites,” will remain unchanged for now, while the team focuses on addressing minor bugs.

With a solid initial reception and plans to expand its audience, Mewgenics is positioning itself as a title that could have a lasting impact on the gaming community. However, the wait for additional content and new features could maintain long-term interest, prompting developers to stay attuned to the needs and desires of their growing fan base.

Highguard may not be well-received on Steam, but its developers say they are not going to throw in the towel

Highguard, the PvP shooting game from Wildlight Entertainment, has been the subject of intense debate since its recent launch, especially following its announcement at The Game Awards 2025. Despite reaching nearly 100,000 simultaneous players, the reception of the title has been rather negative, with only 30% positive ratings on Steam. This discontent among players has created an atmosphere of uncertainty in the community, highlighting unfavorable comparisons with other shooters like Overwatch and the short-lived Concord. Highguard, the PvP shooting game from Wildlight Entertainment, has been the subject of intense debate since its recent launch, especially following its announcement at The Game Awards 2025. Despite reaching nearly 100,000 simultaneous players, the reception of the title has been rather negative, with only 30% positive reviews on Steam. This discontent among players has created an atmosphere of uncertainty in the community, highlighting unfavorable comparisons with other shooters like Overwatch and the short-lived Concord.

A team determined to show what they can do

Chad Grenier, co-founder and game director, has defended Highguard by pointing out that comparisons do not capture the essence of the gameplay it offers. In his opinion, the combination of three-player team combat, territory control, and a strategic progression structure makes for a unique proposition within the genre. However, Grenier also acknowledged that the initial trailer, which generated high expectations, did not reflect the game’s strengths and was made with little preparation time.

Despite the initial criticism, Wildlight Entertainment is committed to improving the gaming experience through constant updates and a full year of planned content. Dusty Welch, co-founder and CEO, has expressed his determination to maintain player interest, emphasizing that the game is free, which removes the barrier to entry and allows new users to try it without commitment.

Currently, although the number of players has decreased since its launch, the game maintains around 11,000 concurrent users on PC. Despite the lukewarm reception it has received, both Welch and Grenier have stated that their team has no plans to abandon the project and are determined to build a franchise that lasts over time.
