This success was revealed by one of its creators, Tyler Glaiel, through his account on X, where he thanked players for their support. Expectations for the title were high, with approximately 400,000 wishlists before the launch that increased to 600,000 after the publication of positive reviews.

Mewgenics is taking the audience by storm

Despite the controversy surrounding the voice cast of the game, Mewgenics has reached impressive concurrent player numbers on Steam, peaking at over 115,000 and currently having more than 96,500 active players. This popularity suggests a strong ongoing interest in the game, and the player base is expected to grow even further with the arrival of support for languages such as simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian, as well as console versions that are in development.

Regarding the future of the game, several updates are planned, although Glaiel has warned players that the first patch, expected by the end of this week, will only include minor fixes. There will be no significant balance changes, which has generated some curiosity among users. Glaiel also mentioned that some aspects of the game, such as the “Merciless infinites,” will remain unchanged for now, while the team focuses on addressing minor bugs.

With a solid initial reception and plans to expand its audience, Mewgenics is positioning itself as a title that could have a lasting impact on the gaming community. However, the wait for additional content and new features could maintain long-term interest, prompting developers to stay attuned to the needs and desires of their growing fan base.

Starsand Island is a Steam game that is experiencing a very peculiar problem: it is receiving too much positivity

The gaming community has witnessed various situations of review bombing, where the ratings of a game on platforms like Steam are drastically affected by negative reviews.

However, the studio Seed Sparkle Lab is facing an unusual phenomenon with its title Starsand Island, which is currently in early access. Instead of unfavorable reviews, the team has detected an anomalous amount of excessively positive reviews that the developers consider suspicious.

Too many compliments could be a disguised attack

Starsand Island is a cozy-style game that offers players a relaxing experience on an island full of opportunities for exploration and farming.

Despite having an 86% positive review rate on Steam, the Seed Sparkle Lab team has pointed out that many of these ratings seem to be artificially generated, possibly by artificial intelligence, and have been published suspiciously quickly after minimal gameplay time.

In a statement published on Steam, the team explained that they initially thought the flood of positive comments was a sign of recognition for their work but soon noticed irregularities: “Some comments were posted after a very short playtime and were shared almost at the same time.” This led them to question whether it was an attack disguised as praise.

Despite the fact that Seed Sparkle Lab could benefit from this phenomenon in terms of visibility, the team has expressed their discontent with the situation and has called out to the person or entity behind these reviews: “Please stop. Let us play our game in peace.” The situation continues to evolve, and the avalanche of unusual reviews may persist, raising concerns about the integrity of the feedback the title receives.

The launch of Mewgenics has revolutionized the independent video game scene, achieving unprecedented commercial success in just three hours.

Developed by Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel, this title has not only recouped its initial investment but has also positioned itself as the first contender for game of the year 2026. The news was confirmed by Glaiel through his social media, where he shared his excitement about the game’s remarkable performance.

Mewgenics is taking the world by storm

With over 65,900 simultaneous users in its first hours of release, Mewgenics ranks 300th in Steam’s history in this regard, indicating strong interest among players. This strategy game, which revolves around creating an army of cats through genetic manipulation, features an unusual concept that has captured the public’s attention.

The reviews have been equally impressive, as 97% of over 2,700 reviews have been favorable, revealing a high level of satisfaction among players. This success is remarkable, considering that Mewgenics moves away from the faster gameplay styles that characterize other titles by McMillen, such as The Binding of Isaac.

The good start of the year for independent games is reflected in this new title, which stands out for its unique and anti-commercial concept. As interest in innovative video games continues to grow, Mewgenics is shaping up not only as a commercial success but also as a key piece in the landscape of contemporary video games.

Despite facing a decline in its player base during 2025, the game No Rest for the Wicked has experienced a significant resurgence thanks to a recent free weekend and a major update called Together. This update not only introduced a cooperative mode but also included over 500 fixes and new features, which has helped to nearly double its peak player count. On a recent Sunday, the title reached almost 63,000 simultaneous players, compared to 36,000 on the day of its early access launch.

A game that is finding its footing

This revitalization has resulted in a notable increase in sales, positioning No Rest for the Wicked as the second best-selling paid video game of the week on Steam, just behind ARC Raiders. The CEO of Moon Studios, Thomas Mahler, commented on the positive reception of the game, highlighting that 83% of recent reviews have been positive, suggesting strong support from the community.

Mahler also anticipated ambitious plans for the future of the game, which include the incorporation of a survival mode inspired by Breach Refined,as well as the implementation of a balanced class system and dynamic PvP, designed to provide an intense and engaging gaming experience for both current fans and potential new players.

Regarding the development of No Rest for the Wicked, Mahler emphasized the studio’s intention to remain in early access for at least two more years, with the goal of perfecting all aspects of the game before the release of version 1.0. Currently, no date has been set for this final version, but efforts to improve the user experience are a clear priority for the Moon Studios team.

The new management and exploration title, StarRupture, has made its debut in 2026 on Steam in early access format, developed by the Polish studio Creepy Jar. Aimed at those who enjoy building complex industrial systems, the game allows users to organize assembly lines, explore an open world devastated by cataclysms, and face alien creatures in exciting battles.

Collect materials, build technologies, repeat

Set on a ruined planet full of useful resources, StarRupture invites players to gather materials and build technologies to keep their industrial complex running. Players can choose to play solo or form teams of up to four people, adding a social element to the management experience. The high temperatures and lurking dangers on the surface increase the difficulty and the need for careful strategies.

With an impressive 83% of very positive reviews on Steam, collected from over 1,200 users, the game has quickly positioned itself in fourth place in the global sales ranking, behind titles like Counter-Strike 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds. This initial success reflects a strong interest from the community, which is crucial considering that the title is in early access with plans to release continuous updates over the next year.

To facilitate player entry, StarRupture is available at a 20% discount, initially priced at 15.99. However, this cost will increase to 19.99 starting January 20. Creepy Jar is seeking player feedback to improve its product before the final release, making it an attractive opportunity for fans of building and exploration games.
