Ubisoft has made the drastic decision to cancel the development of the highly anticipated remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. This announcement comes after multiple delays that generated growing concern among fans of the saga, who were eagerly awaiting the return of this classic video game. The news has hit like a bucket of cold water, not only for the fans but also for those involved in its creation.
Living in Uncertainty
Eman Ayaz, the voice actress committed to the project, has expressed her deep disappointment over the cancellation, stating that her work on the game represented the best performance of my career. The cancellation of the development not only means the loss of this professional opportunity but has also complicated her personal situation. Ayaz revealed on her YouTube channel that she learned about the news through her brother, who read it in a post, leaving her surprised that she had not been directly notified by Ubisoft.
In addition to the emotional burden that this cancellation entails, Ayaz regrets that, due to a confidentiality agreement that has not yet ended, she cannot share details about her experience in the recording and is forced to hide her previous work on the project. This situation also prevents her from applying for a visa to work in the United States, further complicating her acting career.
Despite this situation, Ayaz is determined to move forward, considering her work on Prince of Persia as a significant experience. With the cancellation of this remake, the future of the franchise remains uncertain, but the gaming community and the professionals involved hope that Ubisoft reconsiders its approach to this iconic title.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the latest title in Ubisoft’s iconic saga, has made its debut on mobile devices, specifically for Android, just a year and three months after its release on next-gen consoles. This 2.5D metroidvania-style game combines action and exploration in an environment that recalls the franchise’s roots, offering players the chance to enjoy a complete experience on small screens.
An excellent game for which you need a controller
In The Lost Crown, players take control of Sargon, a hero tasked with rescuing a prince in a cursed city filled with monsters. The game’s mechanics focus on challenging combat that demands dodging skills, precise counterattacks, and time manipulation, keeping players in constant tension during each encounter.
Ubisoft has perfectly adapted the entire experience of the original game for its mobile version, allowing users to enjoy a campaign that is estimated to last around 18 hours. In addition, the game’s map is extensive and full of secrets to discover, ensuring that fans of the metroidvania genre will find plenty of content to explore.
For those who prefer to play with touch controls, Ubisoft has implemented customization options that enhance the experience, although using a controller is recommended for smoother gameplay. Among these settings are automatic locking, the use of potions, and automatic attacks, which are especially useful in the more difficult battles.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has received a positive reception from critics and fans, highlighting its potential on mobile platforms. The title is now available on Google Play Store, including a free trial, inviting new players to dive into this nostalgic return of the saga.

With the addition of the first two Dino Crisis games, we can say the same about Capcom’s other great franchise. But GOG can do more. And they want to do more. That’s why they’ve asked for help from users with Dreamlist.
Dreamlist is a small platform where we can do two things: vote on which titles we want to be rescued to play on modern PCs and explain our relationship with these games. Why? According to the words of the people at GOG, to make it easier for them to negotiate with the companies that hold the rights to these games. If they can demonstrate that there is an audience that wants to play these games, just as they remember them, it will be much easier for them to reach agreements with the companies.
That’s why they have made a small selection of games they want to bring back. They also allow us to include any PC game that has ever been released. And we are going to tell you the five games we would like to see. Because yes: there are five games in particular that we believe should be next. For very good reasons.
GOG Galaxy is a free platform for downloading digital games. However, it will also allow you to centralize all titles from other stores to have them all organized.
The Operative: No One Lives Forever
Before FPS games became very serious and very American, there was The Operative: No One Lives Forever. A James Bond parody that put us in the shoes of Cate Archer, one of the best spies in the world. With a frenetic pace, an exciting story, spectacular action, and absolutely hilarious humor, No One Lives Forever won many Game of the Year awards. It is considered the best FPS since Half-Life.
Just for that, it’s already worth bringing it back, but there’s something else: as of today, it’s impossible to play the game optimally. The console versions can be played, but they are much worse than the PC version, and the PC version doesn’t work on modern computers, which means this reissue is very necessary. Because we are missing out on one of the great FPS games in history.
American McGee’s Alice
American McGee came from working on Doom and Quake when he decided to adapt Alice in Wonderland. Even if he decided to do it his own way. American McGee’s Alice is what happens immediately after Alice Through the Looking Glass, presenting us with a terrible truth: Alice is in a psychiatric hospital and must travel to Wonderland, which has been monstrously twisted by a horrible trauma from her childhood. This leads to a spectacular platform, action, and adventure game that is still absolutely exquisite to play today.
Again, with the problem that it cannot be played. Not available on any platform and not working on modern computers, the only way to play it is through its sequel, Alice: Madness Returns, as a DLC. Which makes it a perfect candidate to be rescued.
Prince of Persia
If there is a game that needs no introduction, it is this one. We all know Prince of Persia. And yet, its original game is, to this day, practically unplayable. To get a modern computer to run the original version of the game requires real juggling that, we are sure, GOG could handle without problems, and there is a very good reason to wish for it: Prince of Persia is a key element in the history of video games.
This is where precision platforms were created. Still an extremely difficult game today, but also very satisfying, it defined everything that cinematic adventures, precision platforms, and even adventures, in general, should be. This gives it a dimension and importance that makes it unfair that it’s not much easier to simply start playing this excellent game.
The Simpsons: Hit and Run
As popular as they are, it’s surprising that The Simpsons haven’t had more video games.Especially when The Simpsons: Hit and Run is an amazing, extraordinarily fun game that captured the imagination of an entire generation by allowing us to do what we always wanted: travel all over Springfield with the yellow family causing chaos, as if it were GTA. All with the original voice acting intact for the game.
Unfortunately, playing it on a computer today requires jumping through hoops, acrobatics, and some somersaults. Playing it on consoles requires paying very unfriendly prices, in addition to finding the version of the game that has the dubbing in your language. Something that makes it much more inaccessible than it should be for one of those open worlds that anyone who has played it remembers with nothing but tremendous fondness.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica X
Capcom has already worked with GOG. Moreover, they seem reluctant to make the remake. What less than to allow us to play the original game in optimal conditions, whenever we want and however we want? Because it is true that the fans of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X may not be many and that what we most desire is a remake that, well, completes the game. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that it would be a perfect game to reissue.
Unique among the Resident Evil games, unknown even among fans and much more interesting both in gameplay and story than it is recognized for, its reissue on PC could be the perfect first step for Capcom to then be encouraged to make a remake. What better publicity than for people to get to know and fall in love with the game before remaking it? We can’t think of any. And the historical injustice that has been done with Resident Evil Code: Veronica X deserves it.

When people ask me about my favorite video game series, I debate between three: Phoenix Wright, Super Mario, and, of course, Rayman. Despite having only five games in its main series (excluding the infamous Raving Rabbids), the character has managed to perfectly fight against nostalgia and innovate with wonders like Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. And now, eleven years after the last title, Ubisoft has started working on a new sequel. It was about time. Let’s go! When asked about my favorite video game series, I debate between three: Phoenix Wright, Super Mario, and, of course, Rayman. Despite having only five games in its main series (excluding the infamous Raving Rabbids), the character has managed to perfectly balance nostalgia and innovation with wonders like Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. And now, eleven years after the last title, Ubisoft has started working on a new sequel. It was about time.
Although things start off badly, because the statement came after the team of the new Prince of Persia was dismantled for not reaching the sales figures Ubisoft was looking for. It was then that some hinted that some members were now developing a Rayman remake, when Ubisoft wanted to clarify that yes, but no. In other words, at least it’s not a remake.
“We are pleased to confirm that Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan have begun an exploration phase in the Rayman brand. The project is in its early stages, and we will share more details later“, they said, ensuring that Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman, is part of the team as a consultant to ensure consistency in the universe. It’s not that he doesn’t want to participate as a director, but he retired from the industry in 2020 after being investigated for toxic behavior (which, of course, he continues to deny to this day).
The project may never move beyond this first phase, but frankly, just the idea of being able to play with a new Rayman is already exciting, given that they usually take the opportunity to unleash all the creativity they can’t in other games. The word “eager” falls short, and if the Prince of Persia team has been able to find another home in Rayman, it’s possible that Ubisoft will once again save itself from obscurity. They have more than one life, certainly. Look, just like Rayman.
The Rogue Prince of Persia, a roguelite developed by Evil Empire, which may sound familiar to you because they are indeed the creators of Dead Cells.
Sometimes, video games wake up and remind us that forgotten franchises, in good hands, can have a second life. It happened with ‘Rayman’ (‘Rayman legends’ always in my heart) and lately with ‘Prince of Persia’, a franchise that had been neglected for decades and suddenly came back into the spotlight with ‘The lost crown’. And the best part is that Prince of Persia fans won’t have to wait much longer to see if it was a last gasp of life or if it has truly been resurrected.
‘Prince of Persia’ has found its own identity after years of being a pseudo-‘Assassin’s Creed’ and it shows in ‘The Rogue Prince of Persia’, a roguelite developed by Evil Empire, which you may recognize because they are, indeed, the creators of ‘Dead Cells’. And if that one was already a kind of ‘Prince of Persia’, now this one is “Dead Cellea”.
And seeing how great that game was, it’s not a bad thing at all. We will be able to enjoy early access to ‘The Rogue Prince of Persia’ on May 14th, and its first trailer is visually stunning. That’s for sure. Now, what’s important is the gameplay, and if it’s as dynamic as it promises, we could be looking at another great title in the franchise this year.
Here, the key is parkour. Climbing walls, running anywhere, being the master of your movements. Because if you intend to beat this game only by slashing and hacking… I’m afraid you’re going to have a problem. The idea is for the game to grow with the help of the community, improve, and become the roguelite of our dreams. Only time will tell if the journey back to Persia, after all, has been worth it.
The change has been positive; the world seems to agree that its gameplay is fabulous. However, all that glitters is not gold.
The release of the new ‘Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown‘ has surprised everyone because, suddenly, it has pulled out of its hat a Metroidvania that has reignited the excitement among gamers for a saga long forgotten in time. Not in vain, its first installment is from 1989, and it had been without an original game since 2010. The change has been positive; the world seems to agree that its gameplay is fabulous… But all that glitters is not gold.
In reality, it’s a very minor but hilarious oversight: when programming the game, the developers decided to use robotic voices for some characters (the famous text-to-speech widely used, for example, on TikTok, replacing the traditional Loquendo), and later replace them with the voices of the real actors. So far, so good and quite standard.
However, there’s a character lost in the sands that slipped through. Meet Kalux, a Wak-Wak tree that restores your health and helps illuminate your path in the Catacombs. It’s only eight lines, but they sound robotic, no name is associated with him in the credits, and they clash with the polished perfection of the rest of the game. Of course, Ubisoft has already rushed to say they will fix it as soon as possible with a patch.
It must be said that, indeed, it is a minor oversight: there are 12,000 lines of text in total in five different languages, with a good handful more of subtitled languages. It will be at the end of January or the beginning of February, so if you want to listen and find the slip-up yourself, you still have time. Just make sure that the game is in English, because the rest of the languages are perfectly implemented!
“Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown” is a game that can be a bit overwhelming at first, so we offer you some essential tips so you don’t feel overwhelmed while playing it.”
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is one of the first surprises of 2024. A game that is causing a sensation among critics, which seems to be one of the candidates for GOTY. And that’s without even finishing January. That doesn’t mean it’s not a challenging game that demands things from the player. And we’re going to give you some tips to make the experience as smooth and simple as possible from the first minute.
It’s easy to get carried away and just set the base difficulty, but trust us. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is highly customizable. In addition to various difficulty options, you can personalize your experience according to your needs. And furthermore, you can choose whether to play in Guided mode or Exploration mode. Do not underestimate the difficulty of the game, because the fights are tough and the exploration is demanding: there is no shame in playing in Guided mode and/or on easy difficulty.
Don’t skip the extra tutorials
When you advance a little in the game, you will encounter a character named Artaban. He will offer you a series of combat tutorials, completely optional. Okay: do them. For your life. They are brief, they give you small rewards and everything you learn here in combat you will take advantage of throughout the rest of the game.
Use memory fragments
One of the most original additions to the game are Memory Fragments. These allow you to take a screenshot of where you are, associating it with the point on the map where you are. This will allow you to know where places are that you cannot access yet, making your life much easier. So don’t hesitate to use them as much as you can.
Follow the golden leaves
To save, heal, and change talismans, you will have to find Soma Trees. The easiest way to find them will be to follow a method that other games have already taught us in the past: follow the wind. In this case, the golden leaves will indicate where the nearest soma tree is. Something that will make your life much easier when it comes to progressing.
Explore the scenarios thoroughly
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a metroidvania. That means you have to explore well. Some walls hide objects, many side quests give very good rewards, and that’s why investing a little time in exploring will help you a lot with this game.
Ubisoft calls for calm: the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time continues its course, ensuring that it has reached one of its internal milestones
Prince of Persia is one of the biggest cult franchises in video game history. It’s also one of the most mistreated over the last decade and a half. Unfortunately, all the progress it made from the 8-bit era until PlayStation 2 was lost over the last three generations, leaving it as one of those franchises that have a huge cult following and importance within the industry but haven’t withstood the test of time.
The impression wasn’t helped by the fact that the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time had to be restarted, taken away from its original studio, and handed over to the Ubisoft Montreal team. With the company stating last May that players shouldn’t expect any new updates on the game this year, any news indeed gives us hope for the game.
Even though the news might not be spectacular, on November 21, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time turned 20 years old. This was something that the official Twitter account took advantage of, stating that “we are happy to announce that the project has reached a significant internal milestone.”
As you know, the passionate team at @UbisoftMTL is reimagining this legendary story, and we are glad to announce today that the project has passed an important internal milestone and development is progressing.
The development of this game has been turbulent and unfortunately, it has seen many setbacks over the years. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was announced in September 2020, initially being developed by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, with a release date set for January 2021. However, due to a negative reaction to the trailer, its release was postponed multiple times until last year when it was announced that the development was taken away from them and handed over to Ubisoft Montreal, the original developers of The Sands of Time.
As of today, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake doesn’t have a release date. Nevertheless, it seems that, for the first time in years, Prince of Persia appears to have a clear direction in which it’s heading.
