As part of this strategic reset process, Ubisoft has decided to order its employees to return to the office full-time. This change has caused discomfort among workers, who perceive the measure as a setback regarding the work flexibilities implemented during the pandemic. On the other hand, The Rogue Prince of Persia, a roguelike developed by Evil Empire, has been in early access for over a year, allowing developers to refine its mechanics through various updates and patches.

At the recent PC Gaming Show 2025, Ubisoft revealed that The Rogue Prince of Persia will exit early access in August 2025. This full version will include new content such as biomes, enemies, an additional new act, and improvements to weapons and perks. To date, the game has received over 86% positive reviews on Steam, supporting its emerging success. Additionally, Evil Empire has announced that they plan to increase the price of the game after its full release.

Prince of Persia is one of the biggest cult franchises in video game history. It’s also one of the most mistreated over the last decade and a half. Unfortunately, all the progress it made from the 8-bit era until PlayStation 2 was lost over the last three generations, leaving it as one of those franchises that have a huge cult following and importance within the industry but haven’t withstood the test of time.

The impression wasn’t helped by the fact that the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time had to be restarted, taken away from its original studio, and handed over to the Ubisoft Montreal team. With the company stating last May that players shouldn’t expect any new updates on the game this year, any news indeed gives us hope for the game.

Even though the news might not be spectacular, on November 21, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time turned 20 years old. This was something that the official Twitter account took advantage of, stating that “we are happy to announce that the project has reached a significant internal milestone.”

The development of this game has been turbulent and unfortunately, it has seen many setbacks over the years. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was announced in September 2020, initially being developed by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, with a release date set for January 2021. However, due to a negative reaction to the trailer, its release was postponed multiple times until last year when it was announced that the development was taken away from them and handed over to Ubisoft Montreal, the original developers of The Sands of Time.

As of today, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake doesn’t have a release date. Nevertheless, it seems that, for the first time in years, Prince of Persia appears to have a clear direction in which it’s heading.
