Oblivion still has secrets 20 years later and fans are discovering them thanks to its remaster

Since its launch in April, many new players are experiencing for the first time the acclaimed classic RPG, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. This new edition has attracted a whole generation that is delving into the vast world of Cyrodiil, allowing users to discover fascinating secrets and quirks that have characterized the game over the years.

Doors that connect to other doors

Recently, the community was surprised by the discovery of a player who found an Oblivion door inside another door, a phenomenon that, while it could be mistaken for a glitch, is actually an intentional design by Bethesda. The discovery was shared on Reddit by the user PerformanceOk9933, who was amazed to find two doors that connect to each other. His post received over 11,000 votes, showing that even veteran players had not experienced this before.

This peculiarity, which belongs to the worlds of Oblivion five and six, allows each door to provide a unique exit to different areas of the map, renewing the gaming experience even after 20 years since its original release. Some veteran players were amazed by their own ignorance about this detail, commenting that despite playing for almost two decades, they had never found this connection.

The stir in the community has been such that threads on Reddit from years ago have been revived, where players shared their own experiences with these connected doors. Some users have also joked about the possibility that these doors could take them to the much-anticipated Elder Scrolls VI or to familiar places like Skyrim.

With findings like this, it is evident that Oblivion remains a world full of surprises, challenging the expectations of players, both new and veteran, and reaffirming its legacy in the history of video games.

YouTuber discovers that a drug in Oblivion could revolutionize the game's speedruns

The recent remastering of Oblivion has brought a significant change that has caught the attention of the gaming community, especially among speedrunning enthusiasts. The well-known YouTuber Bacon_ has discovered that the controversial Khajiiti drug, Skooma, can now stack up to 22 times, instead of the eight in the original version. This modification results in a spectacular temporary increase in speed and strength, which can take a character’s attributes to unexpected levels. Bug? Feature? A blessing for speedrunners The use of Skooma in Oblivion, a substance that momentarily increases speed and strength at the cost of […]

The recent remastering of Oblivion has brought a significant change that has caught the attention of the gaming community, especially among speedrunning enthusiasts. The well-known YouTuber Bacon_ has discovered that the controversial Khajiiti drug, Skooma, can now be stacked up to 22 times, instead of the eight in the original version. This modification results in a spectacular temporary increase in speed and strength, which can elevate a character’s attributes to unexpected levels.

Bug? Feature? Blessing for speedrunners

The use of Skooma in Oblivion, a substance that momentarily increases speed and strength at the cost of a permanent reduction in intelligence, has generated great cultural appeal in the Elder Scrolls series. With the new limit of 22 doses, players can achieve speed statistics that would reach 1,320 points, a surprising number considering that the attribute cap in the game is 100.

This change allows for faster and more efficient strategies in speedrunning, as players can cover huge distances in a short amount of time. Bacon_ demonstrated this speed by traveling from the Imperial City to Skingrad Castle in under a minute, comparing his journey to that of Saitama from One Punch Man.

The physics of the game, now implemented with Unreal Engine 5, also influences how Skooma behaves, providing more controlled handling compared to the absurd jumps of the original version. This change could be an intentional decision by the developers to align the use of Skooma with the new physical dynamics of the remaster.

Ultimately, although the increase in the Skooma limit may focus on gameplay and strategy, it also reflects the ongoing evolution of gaming culture, where every detail matters to the most dedicated players.

The remastering of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has caused a stir among video game fans, thanks to its significant graphical and gameplay updates compared to the classic from 2006. This renewed title not only focuses on improving the game’s aesthetics and gameplay mechanics, but it also benefits from the voices of several actors from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, adding a layer of familiarity and nostalgia to the experience.

Distinctive voices, although lacking the charm of the original for many

However, the change in the voice cast presents both opportunities and challenges. The original game featured a surprisingly small number of voice actors, which was seen as a clear area for improvement in this new installment. While the voice update has the potential to refresh the experience, there is a risk of losing the distinctive charm that characterized the original game. The familiar faces of iconic voices like those of Wes Johnson and Linda Carter serve as a bridge between the two installments, creating a continuity that many players will appreciate.

The renowned Stephen Russell, known for his roles in Fallout and Skyrim, is not present in this remaster, which marks a notable absence for some fans. Russell has been a significant figure in the world of video games, and his absence is particularly felt in a title that strives to maintain a connection to its roots.

Despite this absence, the selection of other actors, such as Jan Johns, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Debra Wilson, who have also worked on previous Bethesda titles, ensures that the game maintains a coherent sense of familiarity. The participation of voices that fans have come to consider as old friends contributes to a characteristic soundscape of the studio’s games. With approximately half of the dialogue re-recorded, Oblivion Remastered promises not only a renewed adventure but also a deep emotional connection for those who have traversed Tamriel in previous installments.

Oblivion fans are delighted with the fidelity of the remaster

The remastering of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion has been enthusiastically received by the gaming community, turning the classic adventure into an impressive wrapper of Unreal Engine 5. Among the new features brought by this remaster, improvements in lip-syncing of memorable lines stand out, adding a new level of polish to a game that has always been considered a diamond in the rough. A remaster so faithful that the same things can still be done. One of the most exciting surprises for speedrunners is that they can reuse old strategies with the same ease as one puts on […]

The remastering of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion has been enthusiastically received by the gaming community, turning the classic adventure into an impressive wrapper of Unreal Engine 5. Among the new features brought by this remastering, improvements in lip-syncing of memorable lines stand out, adding a new level of polish to a game that has always been considered a diamond in the rough.

A remaster so faithful that the same things can still be done

One of the most exciting surprises for speedrunners is that they can reuse old strategies with the same comfort as putting on their favorite pair of pants. A notable example is the well-known YouTuber Bacon_, who managed to complete the remaster in just 12.5 minutes. This time was made possible thanks to privileged access to an old trick that provides direct access to the end of the game from the Temple of the Imperial City, a finding that dates back to the original version of Oblivion.

The end of the game, which includes Sean Bean’s sacrifice, takes place in a variant of the loading space of the Imperial City Temple, allowing players to completely bypass most of the main plot. Bacon_ took advantage of newly introduced physics resources by UE5 technology to reach this hidden door, using an innovative approach that combines high-performance skills and an interesting glitch.

Despite the joy that comes with the speed at which the story can be completed, many in the community long to enjoy the missions of the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild at a leisurely pace. As the community dives back into the world of Tamriel, Bacon_ and other content creators are beginning to remaster iconic moments from Oblivion, establishing a new level of appreciation for this work that remains relevant even two decades after its release.
