Tales of is the great RPG franchise from Bandai Namco. Although it did not shine brightly in the West until the success of Tales of Arise in 2021, that does not mean it is not a beloved franchise. Games like Tales of Vesperia and especially Tales of Symphonia were also highly valued outside of Japan. Therefore, it is not surprising that they have decided to start systematically remastering their previous games.
This is great news because it offers us the possibility to play some games from the franchise that we never got to play in the West. Also, because it means being able to play some of the games that might be more difficult to play today. And that’s why today we’re going to talk about five Tales of. Of the five we would want to be their next five remasters. And if you ask us, they are not too crazy bets: they are the ones most likely to sell like hotcakes.
Tales of Phantasia
Published on December 15, 1995, this was the first Tales of. Developed by Wolf Team and directed by Eiji Kikuchi, everything that defines the franchise was already here. And although it is true that it can be a bit tough to play, it remains an extremely interesting and very beautiful RPG, especially for being a Super Nintendo game.
Why should they do a remaster? To begin with, because it’s the first one. But also, because it’s the game they always return to. They re-released it on the first PlayStation and made a remaster for Game Boy Advance that later also came to PSP and mobile phones. So it wouldn’t be surprising if once they’ve fired up the engines, they decided that returning to the game they always come back to is the most logical and natural move. And given the success of their games, it would make perfect sense.
Tales of the Abyss
Published in 2005 for PlayStation 2, Tales of the Abyss is a divisive game that never made it to Europe. Why was it divisive? Its story was filled with extremely complex concepts, its protagonist wasn’t necessarily likable, and its combat system was quite a peculiar twist compared to what was seen in Tales of Symphonia. But all of this has made it one of the most beloved titles in the franchise, being passionately defended by its supporters.
The reason for making a remaster of Tales of the Abyss is evident: today it would be better understood than in 2005. Where in 2005 it lived in the shadow of Tales of Symphonia and its own ambition, today all its complexity and the parts considered more generic would be celebrated as inherent to the genre. A remaster could prove that its defenders, perhaps, were right all along and Tales of the Abyss is the best Tales of.
Tales of Rebirth
Another PlayStation 2 title, this one exclusive to Japan. In terms of gameplay, it managed to refine many aspects that had been becoming outdated or were clearly hindering the genre. But that’s not the best part of the game. The best part was the spectacular animations developed by Production I.G for it and its spectacular and complex story, based on racial and ethnic conflicts, inspired by the Yugoslav wars. Which had ended just a few years earlier.
If they only had to remaster one game, it would have to be this one. The first reason is that it was never released in the West. The second, is that it is surely the most complex and revolutionary Tales of until the arrival of Tales of the Abyss and from there, almost until Berseria. This makes it an essential title to preserve.
Tales of Hearts
At this point, we enter the peculiar choices of the list. The elections with flavor. But choosing Tales of Hearts has several reasons. To begin with, it is a title that originally came out on Nintendo DS, which later had a remake on PlayStation Vita. And that is the most interesting part. A remaster of the PlayStation Vita version could give it all the weight it deserves.
The reason why it would be interesting to see this remaster is that PlayStation Vita was an exceptional console that almost no one bought. Tales of Hearts is certainly not the greatest Tales of, but it is a very interesting installment of the franchise that has barely been played. And offering the possibility for it to be played more and reach more people is precisely what remasters are for. Making it a more than obvious candidate for this treatment.
Tales of the Tempest
If choosing Tales of Heart was a peculiar but understandable selection, here many people have lost us. And we can understand that. But we can defend it. Tales of Tempest is a Nintendo DS game that has everything that can be attributed to a DS game: it is a reduced and somewhat watered-down version of what a Tales of is. It doesn’t even take much advantage of the console’s capabilities. Now then. Is it a bad game? Absolutely not.
Tales of the Tempest is a good Tales of game that never left Japan. It is not the best Tales of, nor will it likely be anyone’s favorite, but it serves its purpose. Being a competent version of the game for handhelds. And a remaster would achieve what remasters should: make accessible and preserve a game that today is inaccessible to anyone who doesn’t know Japanese and has a DS. Therefore, Tales of the Tempest is a perfect candidate for a remaster. Even if it is not the Tales of that would excite us the most.

During the last few months, we have been confirming some familiar faces that will join the project, from Matt Damon to Tom Holland including Robert Pattinson. But so far, we didn’t know what the movie would be about… until now. Universal Pictures has released a statement that makes it very clear what this movie will be: “The next film by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey, is a mythical action epic filmed around the world using the new IMAX cinematic technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX cinema screens for the first time and premieres in theaters worldwide on July 17, 2026.”
An Epic Adventure Like No Other
The mystery is over. Nolan will direct a new adaptation of The Odyssey, one of the most famous and important stories of humanity that has transcended millennia to reach our days. It is, therefore, an unprecedented challenge, and a challenge that can elevate him even further to the pinnacle of Hollywood.
The plot of The Odyssey follows the dangerous and extraordinary journey of Odysseus, facing mythical creatures like the cyclops Polyphemus, the sorceress Circe, the goddess Calypso, and the vengeful Poseidon. It is a story that combines action, drama, and reflections on humanity, elements that fit perfectly with Nolan’s style, who has already explored similar themes in Interstellar through the idea of returning home and the bond between parents and children.
The cast, as mentioned, brings together some of Hollywood’s most prominent stars: Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Lupita Nyong’o. Although the roles have not been officially confirmed yet, it is speculated that Damon will play Ulysses, Holland could be Telemachus, and Hathaway might portray Penelope. Nevertheless, the roles will be confirmed very soon. Additionally, there is already a scheduled release date: July 17, 2026.

Despite the security restrictions implemented by providers like OpenAI, tools like WormGPT are being used to create more convincing phishing emails and new types of malware. In October 2024, OpenAI blocked more than 20 malicious networks seeking to exploit its platform. In tests, Unit 42 managed to generate 10,000 variants of malicious JavaScript, maintaining its functionality but decreasing its detection scores in models like Innocent Until Proven Guilty. Among the techniques used are changes in variable names, insertion of junk code, and complete script rewriting.
Additionally, machine learning algorithms can be tricked into classifying these variants as benign in 88% of cases, according to Unit 42. Even the most popular tools, such as VirusTotal, struggle to detect these codes. Researchers warn that these AI-based rewrites are harder to track than those generated by libraries like obfuscator.io. However, they suggest that these same techniques could improve detection models by generating more robust training data.
On another front, researchers from the North Carolina State Universitydiscovered an attack called TPUXtract, which allows stealing AI models run on Google‘s Edge TPUs through electromagnetic signals. However, although the technique is notable for its precision, it requires physical access to the device and specialized equipment, which fortunately limits its scope.
Additionally, Morphisec has demonstrated that the Exploit Prediction Scoring System (EPSS), used to assess vulnerabilities, can be manipulated with fake social media posts and empty repositories on GitHub. According to Ido Ikar, this technique allows “inflating indicators” and deceiving organizations by altering cyber risk management priorities.

The film will be directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz, the directors behind the quirky independent film The Peanut Butter Falcon. According to the filmmakers, this reinterpretation will have a fresh and peculiar approach: it will be an Australian surfer version of Treasure Island. Drawing inspiration from the 70s surf aesthetic, the film promises to capture the essence of family, brotherhood, drama, and the energy of outsiders, elements that resonated deeply in their previous projects.
A Very Peculiar Treasure Island
Nilson and Schwartz are no strangers to resistance against major studios. As they explain in The Hollywood Reporter, after the success of The Peanut Butter Falcon, they chose to maintain their independent spirit with Los Frikis, a drama set in 1990s Cuba that explores the punk scene and the impact of HIV on a marginalized community. However, the opportunity to work with Disney on this remake attracted them due to the possibility of merging their narrative style with a large-scale production.
Although the project is still in the early stages of development and does not have a confirmed release date, the initial comments have generated both intrigue and skepticism. While some celebrate the idea of an innovative version, others criticize Hollywood’s apparent lack of originality in constantly remaking already known stories.
What is clear is that Nilson and Schwartz do not plan to compromise their creative approach, even within the confines of a studio as large as Disney. So we will see how things turn out, since the studio does not have too many good experiences when joining with such independent creators.

Meta’s interest in wearable devices, a market where rivals like Apple and Google are also positioning themselves, has been growing over time. In September, Meta introduced the prototype of its augmented reality glasses Orion, a project that has advanced rapidly thanks to the enthusiasm of its early testers. These glasses stand out for their compact design and their ability to overlay 3D content onto the real world.
The Orion glasses, controlled through neural interfaces and bracelets that interpret body signals, are not without problems. One of them is the mass production of silicon carbide lenses, a material that improves image quality but increases production costs. Michael Miller, from Niantic, suggests that reducing the field of view or using conventional glass could be an alternative to lower production costs without losing quality.
Beyond these difficulties, the current Ray-Ban Meta glasses have been well received since their launch in 2023, standing out for their integrated speakers, cameras, and microphones that allow everything from listening to music to interacting with artificial intelligence. According to EssilorLuxottica, recent sales surpassed those of previous models in two years within months, reflecting a 73% growth in the wearable glasses market in 2024.
The success of these devices positions Meta at the convergence between artificial intelligence and mixed reality. Luke Alvarez, from Hiro Capital, believes that this strategy could establish Meta as a leader in the next generation of operating systems, a clear goal for Mark Zuckerberg.

Cash registers over 40 years old and still working
As reported by Techspot, a person named Tony Lyon has posted on Twitter evidence that the Commodore 64 is still being used in 2024, albeit in a more rudimentary way.
The photos posted on Elon Musk’s social network show that a Hilligross bakery located in Brownsburg, Indiana, is using two of these units as cash registers.
It may seem strange that machines over four decades old are still in use, but we doubt that processing a few donut orders requires many processing resources.
Readers should note that the images were taken in 2010, but the Commodore 64 units were visible in another photo taken in 2021. The use of older generation equipment has not had a negative effect on customer service or bakery operations, as the establishment has garnered a solid rating of 4.7 stars on Google Maps and 4.4 stars on Yelp.
When it was first launched, the Commodore 64 cost $595, and it remains the best-selling individual computer of all time, with estimated sales between 10 and 17 million units.

The application will no longer have a top header. Instead, tools like user profile, settings, and comments will be moved to the lower left toolbar. The comments button will be available in the “Settings and more” section of the lower left toolbar.
The search box will now be presented on the home page so that users can find all their content across multiple file types and storage locations. Note: There is no change in the search experience, only in the location of the feature.
All applications in the left toolbar are aligned at the top and AI-rich experiences like Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and Copilot Pages will be presented together to establish a correlation.
The organization logo, which was previously displayed in the top header under the Organization theme, will no longer be visible in the application. Note: This change does not affect other Microsoft 365 applications, where the organization logo will continue to appear in the header.
The “Back” button of the Windows Microsoft 365 Copilot application will not be available. Users will still be able to use the left AppBar to navigate between pages.
The “My Day” feature is being removed from the application experience, and users will no longer see the button to launch the calendar and to-do tasks in the Microsoft 365 Copilot application. Note: this change does not affect other Microsoft 365 applications where the My Day feature is available.
The “Help Me Create” feature will be retired from the Microsoft 365 Copilot application. Launched in February 2024, “Help Me Create” focused on assisting users in moving from their stated intent to document creation using an LLM. Now that the Microsoft 365 Copilot application is becoming the destination for Copilot, we will incorporate document creation through AI into the Copilot tab. Users will be able to brainstorm and draft new content based on a storyboard or script for an agenda or executive summary from Copilot Chat.
In summary, among the numerous changes planned for Microsoft 365 are: the removal of the header; the ability to access the profile, settings, and feedback through the toolbar in the bottom corner; the removal of the “Back” button and the “My Day” feature; and the organization’s logo will no longer be visible in the app.
Microsoft plans to roll out these changes in the Microsoft 365 application in mid-January 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday, Adobe noted that the vulnerability has a high risk of being used in real cyber attacks. “Adobe is aware that CVE-2024-53961 has a proof-of-concept code that could lead to arbitrary file system reading,” the company warned. Additionally, it rated the vulnerability with a severity priority “1”, indicating a higher risk of active attacks on specific products and platforms.
The company urges system administrators to urgently install the security updates (ColdFusion 2021 Update 18 and ColdFusion 2023 Update 12), recommending doing so within a maximum period of 72 hours. Additionally, it has suggested implementing the security configurations described in the ColdFusion 2021 and 2023 lockdown guides to mitigate potential risks.
Although Adobe has not confirmed whether this vulnerability has been actively exploited, it has indicated that customers should review the updated documentation on serialization filters to protect against unsafe Wddx deserialization attacks. According to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) of the United States, this type of vulnerabilities are especially dangerous, as they can be used to access sensitive data, such as credentials, which in turn could allow unauthorized access to systems.
CISA already alerted in 2023 about several critical vulnerabilities in ColdFusion, forcing U.S. federal agencies to patch servers against attacks. Additionally, it revealed in March of the same year that hackers exploit similar flaws in outdated government servers.
