Because Larian Studios has announced that Patch 5 will contain an epilogue. While they haven’t disclosed many details about it, thanks to the image accompanying the announcement, we can get an idea of what it will contain: new scenes of the group at the camp, reminiscing about the time they’ve spent together and what they’ll do in the future. This has been a point of criticism since its release. With an abrupt ending and a real lack of an epilogue beyond the character we choose to romance, the game’s final minutes feel less rewarding than they should. Few games this year have garnered as much cult following as Baldur’s Gate III.
For that reason, it shouldn’t surprise us that Larian Studios has announced a physical version for their latest game to date. The Baldur’s Gate III Deluxe Edition will have versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC, priced at 79.99€. It can already be pre-ordered from Larian’s store, but this edition won’t be released until sometime in the first quarter of 2024.
Surprisingly, considering its price, this version comes packed with content. On the digital side, it includes in-game and bonus elements. In-game, there’s a pack of items inspired by their Divinity franchise, a set of bard songs, a dice skin, a painting set, and several extra resources in the camp. As part of the bonus, it features the soundtrack, a digital artbook, and character sheets for all the original game characters.
When it comes to physical content, this game isn’t skimping either. Aside from the game on one (PC), two (PlayStation), or three (Xbox) discs, it includes a bunch of extra perks. These consist of a double-sided map, 32 themed stickers, patches representing factions in the game, an Azotamentes poster, the game’s soundtrack on three CDs, and a box designed to hold everything, inspired by the original Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate 2 boxes.
Pre-orders for this fantastic edition are already open, but be aware: shipping costs amount to 20 euros. If that’s not a problem, you can already grab this game, not only nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023 but also set to announce its release date on Xbox at the same event, scheduled for December 7th.

The accidental leak of Microsoft’s internal documents has revealed some of the company’s plans, such as the upcoming new console set to be released in 2028. As if that weren’t enough, it has also exposed some rather questionable decisions, such as the rejection of Baldur’s Gate 3 coming to Xbox Game Pass.
According to what we can read on The Verge, the title developed by Larian was hardly considered to be included in Game Pass. In the leaked Microsoft emails, Baldur’s Gate 3 was referred to as a “second-rate PC RPG for Stadia.” Perhaps a kick in the stomach would have hurt less. However, it’s necessary to clarify here: these words referred to the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC Game Pass, rather than on Xbox Series X. Currently, Larian Studios is developing a version for Microsoft’s consoles, which should be available before the end of the year.
The truth is that the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 has taken many by surprise. While the RPG had previously been available as early access for years, it wasn’t until the release of its final version that it achieved massive success, both critically and with the public.

A speedrun that has left an impact on all of us
In the video below, the gaming and speedrunning YouTuber Mae uses a technique known as “shadowboxing” (basically, killing the character Shadowheart, placing her body in a box, and throwing it to the trigger point of a cutscene for the end of the second act of the game) to jump to the final credits.
If you have any doubts about how she achieved it, Mae provides an explanation on her YouTube channel, in the pinned comment she has posted on the Speedrun video.
Explanation of the bug that allowed her to make the record
“First, we set the box on fire, giving it the Burning status and inflicting a tick of damage. Using nodefling, we launch Shadowheart directly into the literal final room of Act 2. The box is launched at such a speed that it looks like it teleports when, in reality, it’s moving so fast that we can’t even see it,” explains the YouTuber
“Next, the Burn effect does its tick-tock and deals damage to the box. The box breaks, revealing its contents: in this case, a dead Shadowheart, now located in the final area of Act 2 and able to trigger the final scene,” she continues.
“The teleportation of the scene means that Gale can participate in it, and since Shadowheart is dead and unable to speak, Gale is the one speaking despite being all over the map. That means she can detonate her orb from the other side of the map, ending the game without even seeing the Absolute,” Mae concludes.
