Annapurna Interactive presented the first game from Great Ape Games at last night’s State of Play. Entitled The Lost Wild, it invites us to explore an island where a research center has been reclaimed by nature… and dinosaurs.
We will have to use stealth and ingenuity to survive in a survival horror game where we must evade dinosaurs within our capabilities in a tense and terrifying experience.
A game that aims to be terrifying and realistic
The most interesting thing about The Lost Wild’s proposal is that Great Ape Games is made up of veterans from Creative Assembly, the creators of Alien: Isolation. A game considered one of the peaks of stealth and horror games, where the alien from the movie Alien chased us through a spaceship and forced us to hide, evade it, and find a way to distract its attention.
With a strong emphasis on exploration and survival, one of its biggest selling points is that dinosaurs are represented realistically and in a way never seen before for these enormous creatures. Acting like wild animals and not like monsters, the game’s interest will lie in the fact that each dinosaur will have its own behavior, conduct, and tendencies. Forcing us to observe them and act according to how they are most likely to behave. Even if it is never completely certain how they will do so.
With a generic release date of 2027, The Lost Wild is a must-have title for fans of stealth and survival games, horror games, and of course, dinosaurs. Even if we still have quite a bit of time before we can sink our teeth into it. Or for it to sink its teeth into us.
