Baldur’s Gate 3 seemed like its journey had already ended. Nothing could be further from the truth. It seems that Larian Studios is still working on it, at least until the beginning of next year. Its next major patch, the eighth, will supposedly be the last and they have already confirmed that it will introduce a very generous amount of new content. Because if they have to leave, let it be with a bang.
Patch 8 of Baldur’s Gate 3 will introduce two new features that players have been requesting for a long time: cross-platform play and photo mode. The first will allow us to play multiplayer with Baldur’s Gate 3 players on any device, making it easier than ever to play with our friends. Similarly, the photo mode is a kind of photo booth where you can arrange everything as you like to take the best photos.
This should settle, in terms of code and functionalities, everything that players have been demanding since the game’s release. There is no major functionality that has been requested that remains unaddressed. Or anything else that cannot be included through the powerful tools to modify the game that were added in the game in the previous patch.
More than features: also new options for our characters
That doesn’t mean that Patch 8 doesn’t bring much more than this. Because those who are expecting new skills, animations, summons, and spells, they have them here. But even more importantly, there are also new subclasses. Specifically, one for each of the game’s classes. Adding some very popular subclasses, such as the Bladesinger for wizards, the Path of the Giant for barbarians, or the Way of the Drunken Master for monks, this update will be a blessing for those who couldn’t quite find the exact character flavor they were looking for. Specifically for those who wanted a second playthrough following the path of the Dark Urge, who now have the Death Domain for Clerics or Shadow Magic for Sorcerers to accompany their darkness.
Patch 8 will arrive in early January 2025, without a specific date. The patch will come to all versions of the game, for all platforms, which is available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Making 2025, once again, a good year to delve into Baldur’s Gate 3.
