The world's largest scoop of ice cream weighs more than a car

In 2015, Henning-Olsen, a family ice cream company, managed to create an ice cream 3.08 meters high and weighing more than a ton, caused by the 1080 liters of ice cream that they had to put inside a 95 kilo cone.

There are people who spend entire summers without gobbling ice cream at all hours. No, I don’t know how they do it either. A good ice cream is one of the few things capable of curing all the ills of the world, a balm for bad feelings. So from time to time you have to ask yourself, what if you could have an ice cream that would last a lifetime? Well, not exactly, but in Norway they came close to achieving it.

Maxi ice-cream

In 2015, Henning-Olsen, a family-owned ice cream company, managed to create an ice cream 3.08 meters tall and weighing more than a ton, caused by the 1080 liters of ice cream they had to put inside a 95-kilogram cone. In fact, the thing was so big that they had to take it by helicopter to Kristiansand, the place where the world record was verified.

The best part is that the ice cream fed 10800 people, at two scoops per person. In other words, an ice cream that had 21600 scoops inside. That’s almost nothing. Of course, the heaviest ice cream in the world was a huge sundae that was assembled in Edmonton (United States): almost 25 tons in a gigantic pool in which we would not mind taking a dip in the middle of August.

Also from the United States is the record for the longest ice cream: more than a kilometer (exactly 1386 meters) for 4000 people in Texas who helped to make it and consume it in less time than you think: half an hour. Ah! And if we take away the cone and just look at the ball itself, the heaviest in the world also comes from America, this time in Wisconsin. 1365 kilos of strawberry ice cream, which was handed out for free in the following days.

In this delicious walk through the most impossible things on the planet we did not want to leave you without scratching your wallet. Do you think that every time you buy a Magnum they are more and more expensive? Well, wait until you find out how much the invention costs in a place in Shibuya (in Tokyo) where a ball of white truffle, natural cheese and gold can cost you 6211 euros. So much so that it melts in no time at all… didn’t we leave you… frozen?

Rubik’s Cube Prodigy Sets Record with Three Consecutive Solves in Seconds

Max Park, a 22-year-old American boy, has pulverized the world record in Long Beach: he has been able to solve it in a total of 3.13 seconds

Next year will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Rubik’s Cube, the multi-generational favorite puzzle that was created by a sculptor and architecture professor named – coincidentally – Erno Rubik. He invented it, by the way, when he was 30 years old, which means that he will be alive and kicking to see the celebrations about it. And it is difficult to do something that looks original with a pop icon that has had from its own cartoon series (which I strongly recommend you to watch to understand the expression “chicken is the best use of everything”) to a cube of 3 meters and 544 kilos.

In the blink of an eye

At the height of the Rubik’s Cube’s success in the early 1980s, when more than 200 million units were sold worldwide, the first speed championship was organized in Munich, followed by a handful of others before sales slumped in 1983 and the fad was declared over. However, in 2023 we are still talking about the cube, and how.

Max Park, a 22-year-old American boy, has smashed the world record in Long Beach: he was able to solve it in a total of 3.13 seconds, an absolutely delirious achievement, but not the only one Park has to his credit: he is arguably the world’s greatest Rubik’s Cube expert. Watch out.

His are the one-handed speed records (6.20 seconds) and absolutely all of them, both individual and an average of five, in 4, 5, 6 and 7-sided cubes. Do you know how long it takes a human machine like this to put together a 7x7x7 cube? One minute and 35 seconds. Give me a lifetime and I couldn’t do more than two faces.

However, a new rival for Park comes from China, where a 9-year-old boy has managed to beat him in the average speed test, where the cube is solved five times in a row, the fastest and shortest time is eliminated and averaged. Previously, Max held the record of 4.86 seconds, but on March 12 it was snatched away by Yiheng Wang with an average of 4.69 seconds. And you guys thought soccer was an exciting sport.

This iPhone fell from over 4,000 metres above sea level – does it survive?

The record is really impressive: more than 4000 meters and come out unscathed.

When we talk about endurance tests for smartphones, such as the iPhone, we usually refer to drops from heights of 1, 2 or even 3 metres. But what happens when an iPhone falls from a height of more than 4000 metres? Recently, a skydiver accidentally tested his phone’s endurance by jumping from 14,000 feet (4,267 metres) with the iPhone in his back trousers pocket.

A successful emergency landing

Hatton Smith, the subject of this story, shared his experience on TikTok, showing what happens when you leave your iPhone in your pocket while skydiving. In the video, the iPhone can be seen flying out of his back pocket just after Hatton jumps out of the plane. After a fall of 4,267 metres, which should have taken the iPhone to a speed of more than 160 km/h, the device remained embedded in the ground. It was, however, perfectly functional.

It is true that the fact that the iPhone was in a quality protective case must have played a role in the outcome. It is also true that, had the phone fallen on a hard area such as a rock or a road, the outcome would have been very different. Fortunately, it landed in a field with some grass, which largely cushioned the fall. The iPhone, however, was virtually buried in the ground, with just over half of it embedded in the spot.

While there have been a few cases of skydivers or aviators dropping their iPhones and the devices surviving, it looks like this may be one of the highest altitude cases where an iPhone has emerged completely unscathed. Quite a record for the Cupertino company’s phones, although it is not at all recommended to try to recreate or beat it.

This unusual event proves once again that, in certain circumstances, iPhones and other devices can surprise us with their resilience. However, it is essential to remember that not all cases will be the same and that, to a large extent, the iPhone’s survival on this occasion was due to the protective case and the conditions in which it fell to the ground. After showing signs of life on the network Search, in any case, beyond the circumstances, the record is truly impressive: over 4000 metres and come out unscathed.
