According to Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, the intention is to learn from the mistakes made so far and continue building on what they have with Apex Legends. Looking at what has happened with other games, he believes that a sequel in the realm of free-to-play games tends to polarize players and result in a loss that, in the case of Apex Legends, would ultimately bury the game.

To change the dynamic of declining numbers in engagement and profits, what they will do from now on with Apex Legends is to be more aggressive in their changes. They will maintain their focus on retaining current players, but will work on making more significant and innovative changes in the future to bring back the audience that left and, hopefully, attract a new audience.

In this way, Wilson wanted to clarify that Apex Legends is not going anywhere. They still have confidence in the game and, it seems, we will have many more years of it, despite EA’s poor business decisions and the unnecessary setback it is experiencing right now.

This is what Electronic Arts might have thought when they decided that in Apex Legends, their most popular game after EA Sports FC, the battle pass could no longer be purchased with the in-game currency, Apex Coins. This generated a lot of animosity among the audience. And in a move that honors them, they have decided to rectify it.

According to Respawn Entertainment, developers of Apex Legends, the public has spoken and they have listened. With the release of season 22, they will restore the ability to purchase the Premium Battle Pass with in-game currency. No conditions. No asterisks. No price increase. It will still cost 950 Apex Coins and, in fact, they have acknowledged that it was their fault and they could have handled it better.

All of this comes after Electronic Arts announced significant changes to the game at the beginning of the month. The most important of all was how they were going to divide the battle passes into two, and how they could only be purchased with real money to add more value to the players. This caused anger within the community, to the point that, less than a month later, they have decided to reverse the situation.

Although the decision was disastrous and doesn’t make sense, at least they have been able to rectify it quickly. That doesn’t mean it sets a precedent and it’s possible that they will try again in the future, maybe with other games. But for now, at least, we can be happy that they have decided to do the right thing with Apex Legends.

These are just three of the most reported issues, but there are several more awaiting a solution, such as stuttering when playing at over 165 frames per second or a crash under the code FS_CheckAsyncRequest during map loading. However, with a bit of luck, all of these issues will be resolved very soon.

As the likes of Apex Legends and Fortnite: Battle Royale continue to take the world by storm it is clear that the battle royale formula is here to stay. It seems there is just something about squaring up against players all over the world that is attractive to us gamers.

Tetris 99 is being adapted into Tetris Royale for mobile

When the Nintendo Switch launched the world was blown away by how much power was packed into Nintendo’s little touchscreen device. Despite all that power though, and a plethora of impressive Switch games, one of the most fun and addictive games to hit the latest Nintendo handheld has been Tetris 99. For those that haven’t played it, it’s a manic and modern update on the classic Tetris formula.

Tetris 99 pits you against 99 other Tetris players in a battle to be the last player standing. The dynamics of the war come from sending garbage blocks to your various opponents whenever you clear multiple lines at once. You also have to deal with similar attacks coming your way from all the other players around you. The action is fast, the action is crazy, and the action is coming to your mobile.

Tetris Royale is the mobile port of Tetris 99 that is coming to both Android and iOS soon. As well as the standard 100 player mode from Tetris 99, Tetris Royale is also getting a few other game modes and features to keep mobile players satisfied. These include daily challenges, power-ups, customization options, and the chance to earn and use special boosters in battles.
