The competition between Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty took an unexpected turn in 2026, after Electronic Arts’ shooter surprisingly surpassed sales of Activision’s iconic saga in 2025. However, the Circana report reveals drastic changes in market dynamics, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 regaining the sales lead, especially on PlayStation, where it became the best-selling game in January 2026.
A beautiful resurgence
In the PlayStation ecosystem, Black Ops 7 has managed to maintain its popularity, while Battlefield 6 has disappeared from the ranking of the five best-selling titles. In the Xbox environment, although NBA 2K26 leads the sales figures, Battlefield 6 is in third place, while “Black Ops 7” fell to sixth place. On PC, the situation is reversed, with Battlefield 6 slightly surpassing its competitor, but this advance does not seem sufficient to reverse the overall decline of EA’s title.
Despite this slip, Season 2 of Battlefield 6 has managed to mobilize a significant player base. Recently, the game reached a peak of 92,000 concurrent players after the release of new content, indicating that interest in the game still persists. However, there has been an alarming loss of more than 500,000 users since its launch in October, which represents a considerable challenge for EA in its attempt to capture and retain the audience.
It is evident that Battlefield 6 is facing a critical period, and it will be crucial for the developer to find effective ways to revitalize interest in its game while navigating the competitive landscape offered by “Call of Duty”.
