Donkey Kong Bananza, the highly anticipated 3D adventure and platforming title, will exclusively arrive on Switch 2 on July 17, 2025. This game, revealed during Nintendo’s April 2025 Direct, will mark a significant milestone in the series, as it will be the first 3D installment of Donkey Kong in over two decades, since Donkey Kong 64 in 1999.
Donkey Kong in 3D: it may seem strange to you at first
The trailer debut showcased a visually revamped Donkey Kong, facing various environments that include icy landscapes and lush jungles. Thanks to its varied gameplay, players will have the opportunity to jump, dig, and traverse terrains while helping Donkey Kong in his quest to recover a treasure of golden bananas stolen by a mysterious group called VoidCo.
The game promises levels of platforms in open environments, similar to other popular games like Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Within its dynamics, players will be able to experience destructive exploration, where Donkey Kong can pulverize the environment in various ways, whether by rolling, climbing, or using his strength to knock down obstacles.
Despite the fact that many titles will also be released for the original Switch console, Donkey Kong Bananza will be exclusive to the Switch 2, and with the fans it has around the world, it is sure to be an incentive for them to get the new console. With a release date approaching, players are eager to participate in this new adventure that combines nostalgia and next-generation technology.
The reservations for Donkey Kong Bananza are not yet available, but they are expected to open soon, following the release of the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. Fans of the series are eagerly awaiting more details as the release date approaches.

The recent presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2 has brought a host of news, among which stands out a new cartridge mode that has generated great anticipation. Unlike traditional cartridges, the new game key cartridges do not contain the full game inside; instead, they serve as a key to download the corresponding video game on the console.
The microSD Express will be more necessary than ever
This innovative system means that, once the cartridge is purchased, players will need to download the game content to their console or to a microSD card, ensuring they have enough storage space. Once the download is complete, it will be necessary to insert the cartridge into the Nintendo Switch 2 to enjoy the game without the need for an Internet connection. However, it is important to highlight that, even when playing offline, the cartridge must remain inserted in the console throughout the entire gaming session.
Among the titles that will implement this new system are Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster and Street Fighter 6, which are already labeled as compatible with this type of cartridges. In addition, the boxes of the games that use key cartridges will include a warning informing consumers about this feature.
The introduction of these cartridge formats not only reflects a change in Nintendo’s distribution strategy but also raises new questions about user experience and storage management on the console. As games become more complex and require more space, the need for additional storage could make Express microSD cards an essential accessory for players of the new console.

Nintendo Switch 2 is almost here. Or at least its official presentation. Although Nintendo has already introduced the console and its name, that’s basically all we officially know about it. However, a Direct will be held very soon where we hope they will provide us with all the details we can expect to make an informed purchase about this new console. Given the success of the original Nintendo Switch, it’s normal for us to be excited about this new console.
Now, what can we expect from tomorrow’s Direct? That’s a good question. And we already know some things. Between the official announcements and the leaks, we can give you a rough idea of what to expect. And we provide all the information for you below.
The presentation of Nintendo Switch 2 will be next Tuesday, April 2 at 3:00 PM Spanish mainland time. It will be available to watch both on Twitch and on YouTube on Nintendo’s official channels. But if you are in a different time zone, we leave the time it will be broadcast in your country below.

What announcements can we expect?
Unfortunately, nothing has been officially announced yet. That said, we should expect at least the announcement of the release date, the price of the console, and the launch lineup. Specific features of the console, such as what the mysterious C button does, is something we also hope to see here. What we do not expect to see here are any specific console bundles or specific hardware specifications of the console. Although it is possible that Nintendo surprises us regarding these topics, it is not something they have done with previous consoles in their presentations, and it does not seem that this will be the exception.
What are the games that will be released at launch?
Again, there is no official announcement at the moment. What we can expect with almost total certainty is a Mario Kart 9, since they presented a Mario Kart in the console’s trailer that did not correspond to any we had seen before. Likewise, we should at least expect the console to have next-generation versions of already announced or published games, such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond or Xenoblade Chronicles X.
What other games could we expect? It’s hard to know. Rumors suggest that there may be a remake of Kirby Planet Robobot from Nintendo 3DS. Aside from that, among the major Nintendo franchises, the one that seems most likely to have a new installment is Super Mario, as it hasn’t had a new 3D release since the beginning of the Nintendo Switch generation, with Super Mario Odyssey. Therefore, a Super Mario Odyssey 2 could be a highly anticipated release for the console’s launch window.
What are the features of the console?
Again, officially, we do not know what the specifications of the Nintendo Switch 2 are. That does not mean we do not know some details. If Nvidia’s leaks are correct, the console features an Nvidia Tegra T239 chip, with an ARM Cortex-A78C CPU, a 12 SM Ampere GPU, and 128-bit LPDDR5 memory. Furthermore, internal emails from Activision that were read in the FTC v. Microsoft case indicate that the console would have power similar to or slightly higher than that of the eighth generation of consoles, that of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They also indicate that the console would have the capability for DLSS and ray tracing, which would imply that its power would be at least equivalent to that of a PlayStation 4 Pro.
How reliable are these leaks? In fairness, quite a lot. They all come from internal documentation of companies that work very closely with Nintendo. Something that implies that, one way or another, it is likely that we will end up seeing exactly these specifications of the console. Although, as we have already pointed out, it is very likely that we will still have to wait a few days to know the details, as Nintendo usually does not focus on the technical specifications of its consoles in its presentations.
What are the plans for the console?
According to a recent leak, the console would have a launch in three phases. With the launch of the console, Nintendo’s own games would arrive, focusing on strengthening its primary catalog. The second phase of the launch, which would be between October and November, would consist of reinforcing its catalog with titles from third-party companies. The third and final phase, which would take place during the holiday season, has not had its details revealed.
When will the console be released for sale?
As we have pointed out before, the console does not have a release date yet. All rumors suggest that the most likely date is June, but still without a specific day.
When will the console be available for reservation?
As with the release date, we still do not have a release date, although we do have several leaks. The two biggest ones, contradicting each other, provide two completely different but very close dates: one says it will be on April 2 after the Direct and the other says it will be on April 9 after a countdown that will start during the Direct. In both cases, the information suggests that it will be revealed during tomorrow’s event.
How much will the console cost?
Not only do we not know, but we have no indications of it. Everything points to it being in the range of between 400 and 500 euros, but anything below and above that, 50 euros up or down, should not be surprising.
Does this mean that the original Nintendo Switch will be discontinued?
Despite the launch of a new console, the Nintendo Switch will continue to sell and receive support normally in the coming years. During last week’s Nintendo Direct, numerous games were announced for Nintendo’s previous console, including several games that won’t be released until 2026, so the console’s lifespan is assured for at least a couple more years.
Will Softonic cover the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?
As with previous Directs, you will be able to read everything Nintendo announces on the website as soon as the event ends on Softonic.
A new report generates uncertainty regarding when pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will open at major retailers. Insider Gaming, which claims to have seen internal emails and documents from a major U.S. retailer, reports that the console’s launch is scheduled for June, as previously rumored. However, the same communications indicate that pre-orders will begin on April 9, a week after a special Nintendo Direct event scheduled for April 2, where more details about the console, its release date, and the available games will be offered
A new report raises uncertainty about when pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will open at major retailers. Insider Gaming, which claims to have seen internal emails and documents from a major U.S. retailer, reports that the console’s launch is scheduled for June, as previously rumored. However, the same communications indicate that pre-orders will begin on April 9, a week after a special Nintendo Direct event scheduled for April 2, where more details about the console, its release date, and the games available at launch will be provided.
If you are waiting for the presale right after the Direct ends, you will still have to wait
According to the retailer’s documents, during the Nintendo Direct it will be mentioned that pre-orders will be “coming soon,” revealing a countdown that will culminate on April 9. This retailer, whose identity has not been disclosed by Insider Gaming, also plans to offer an “exclusive collectible coin” for those who make the pre-order. Given the anticipation of fans, the retailer estimates that it will sell out its allocation of consoles on the first day, due to a “limited allocation” provided by Nintendo.
However, the date of April 9 contrasts with a recent leak from Best Buy Canada, which had announced that pre-orders would begin on the same day as the Nintendo Direct, that is, April 2. This post has since been removed.
Regardless of when the pre-sales finally open, enthusiasts won’t have to wait long to receive official information from the Nintendo event. Meanwhile, speculation surrounds Nintendo’s plans, including that the new console will be able to convert digital game purchases into Virtual Cards that will be shared between consoles and accounts within the same family plan. Additionally, a report suggests that the Switch 2’s game lineup will be released in three phases, starting with first-party titles in June, followed by greater third-party support in the fall, and a second wave during the holiday season.
Today has been what points to being the last Nintendo Direct for the original Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 will still have to wait a week to receive its first one, and its successor is reluctant to die. Which doesn’t surprise us. Today has been what seems to be the last Nintendo Direct for the original Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 will still have to wait a week to receive its first, and its successor refuses to die. Which doesn’t surprise us. With over 150 million units sold, it would be foolish for Nintendo to let it go. That’s why they have announced many interesting games for their console. And we are going to tell you everything that has been announced and why you should pay attention.
Probably the announcement that everyone was waiting for and that has finally arrived. After the excellent Dragon Quest III HD-2D they have announced that the next two installments of this trilogy will arrive this year to close the story. We knew they existed, we knew they would follow the same aesthetic, but we didn’t know when they would be released. And although we will still have to wait for a specific date, at least we know one thing: they will be released in 2025 and for Switch.
No Sleep for Kaname Date: AI Somnium Files
Kaname Date returns in a new detective adventure that will lead him to rescue an Internet idol. Diving into the psyche of suspects and involved individuals alike, this is the third part of AI Somnium Files, an excellent series of graphic adventure/visual novels that have taken the detective story fans by storm. And not without reason, as they feature tremendously charismatic characters, fascinating mechanics, and stories filled with unexpected twists. Something that seems to continue here.
Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army
After the success of the Persona franchise, it is no surprise that Atlus is bringing back its old spinoffs from Shin Megami Tensei. In this case, it is Raidou Kuzunoha, who in this remaster of The Mystery of the Soulless Army invites us to fight fire with fire by embodying a demon hunter from the early 20th century who battles these vile creatures by recruiting other demons willing to help him. An excellent game, previously locked to the PlayStation 2, that you shouldn’t miss if you enjoy Shin Megami Tensei or Persona.
Shadow Labyrinth
This peculiar reimagining of Pac-Man, now in the form of a metroidvania where we have to escape from a dying planet, we already knew about, but until now we didn’t have a release date. Now we know it comes out on July 18 and we can’t wait to see what else this peculiar thing has to offer.
Patapon 1+2 REPLAY
Perhaps there are no more unique rhythm games than Patapon. And now we can replay them in this remaster that, in addition to allowing us to play on a big screen, will also include numerous quality of life improvements, specially designed for those who have already played it. A perfect opportunity to replay them on July 11, but also to discover a franchise unjustly forgotten by Sony. Although not by its creators.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
Remake of the Nintendo DS game, Story of Seasons is the good Harvest Moon. That means this is one of those titles you should keep in mind if you like farming games. And that you shouldn’t let it pass under your radar.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
The previous trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond did not leave us very satisfied. It had too much action and didn’t seem very Metroid Prime, which was disappointing. Now, this trailer does give us exactly what we want: a Metroid Prime like the first three, but with a completely different touch. One of the great games from the Direct that we hope to sample very soon, but it only has a generic 2025 release date.
Witchbrook
If you like Stardew Valley, but have always thought it would be even better if instead of a farm you had to live in a wizard school like Hogwarts, then Witchbrook is for you. With cooperative play for up to four people, it has the potential to be one of the big releases of this year. And you won’t need to switch to Nintendo Switch 2 to enjoy it.
The Eternal Life of Goldman
With excellent animation reminiscent of classic Disney’s Fantasia, The Eternal Life of Goldman is a beautiful game that has caught attention precisely for that. The care put into its art. And what about gameplay? It seems to be a very appealing old-school platformer that will deserve attention.
Gradius Origins
Gradius is one of the great franchises of the shoot ’em up genre, and now we can enjoy it again on our Switch, with an excellent collection of classic games, as well as a new installment. But to enjoy them, we will have to wait until next August 7.
Rift of the Necrodancer
Although it has gone somewhat unnoticed, Rift of the Necrodancer is one of the best games of 2025. It is an excellent rhythm game that you should have already played on PC and, if you haven’t, you can now enjoy it on Switch. When? Today! And don’t miss it, because truly: it is one of the best games that have been released this year.
Tamagotchi Plaza
One of those games that may not be very flashy, but surprisingly works well among a certain audience. And it seems that this Tamagotchi Plaza wants to take the place left by Animal Crossing on June 27 with all its sweetness.
Pokémon Legends Z-A
Pokémon Legends Z-A is one of the most anticipated games from Nintendo, and although we were expecting a release date, it seems we will have to wait a bit longer. With a generic late 2025 timeframe, we have been given a bit more information. We now know that battles against trainers will be based on a tournament called Z-A Games, which is defined by trainer ranks starting from Z and must be ascended to A. This is something we are eager to learn more about.
Rhythm Paradise: Groove
Rythm Paradise is among the best rhythm games in history, and we haven’t had a new one since its last release on 3DS. But that will change soon. In 2026, with no specific date yet, Rythm Paradise: Groove will be released, a new installment of this excellent series of rhythm games that are as simple as they are charming that we only hope will once again feature a hilariously uncoordinated choir of children.
SaGa Frontier Remastered 2
The SaGa franchise was the great forgotten one by Square Enix for years, but it seems that it is now one of their favorite children after the success of its remasters, remakes, and new installments. That’s why it doesn’t surprise us that they bring SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered, a classic perhaps less remembered than its predecessor, but equally exceptional and that you shouldn’t miss if you are a fan of JRPGs. And it is available today.
Monument Valley 1, 2 and 3
Monument Valley is among the best mobile games of all time and is now coming to Nintendo Switch. Or it will very soon. Because the first two will be released on April 15, while we will have to wait until an indefinite date next summer to enjoy Monument Valley III. A perfect opportunity to enjoy some unique games.
Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots
The most fun golf game saga in the world is back, now for Nintendo Switch. Although it has historically been a Sony franchise, it now comes from Bandai Namco, but it seems to still have the same craziness and fun as always, so give this historic franchise a chance when it releases on Switch next summer.
Marvel: Cosmic Invasions
Dotemu has specialized in making pixel art beat’em’ups and the license they have chosen for their next game couldn’t please us more. Marvel Cosmic Invasion puts superheroes from the Marvel universe to stop a cosmic invasion in the only way they know: by throwing punches. Moreover, with so many X-Men appearing, we can’t say no to this game.
Tomadachi Life: A Dream Life
To conclude, a bombshell that may not seem like one to many. Tomodachi Life is a hit in Japan and also a hit in the West, even though it is not one of the big well-known names from Nintendo. And this Tomodachi Life: A Dream Life is one of the noblest ways to end the life of such a popular console as the Nintendo Switch: appealing to the general public with a game designed for them. And for that reason, Nintendo, you have sold over 150 million consoles.

In the latest Nintendo Direct, there was a lot of exciting news, and not just about games. The renowned video game creator Shigeru Miyamoto presented Nintendo Today!, a new mobile application that promises to be the main source of information and entertainment for fans of the Japanese brand. Available on Google Play Store and App Store, this app will function as a calendar for relevant Nintendo events, including the highly anticipated Nintendo Direct, and will allow users to access additional content such as videos and comics based on their favorite characters and franchises.
New app and virtual game cards
One of the highlights of Nintendo Today! is that users will be able to get information about the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 starting April 2. However, to access this exclusive content, players will need to have a Nintendo account and a compatible device. In this way, the app will not only become an entertainment hub but also a vital tool for staying updated on the company’s news.
In addition to the app, the Nintendo Direct presented an innovative feature for the console, called Virtual Game Cards. This new system will allow players to manage and share digital titles with unprecedented flexibility, similar to the ability to lend physical cartridges to friends and family. Users will be able to eject a game from one Nintendo Switch and “load” it onto another, thus facilitating the shared use of their digital libraries.
There is no doubt that these news come at a crucial moment, as we await the imminent launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. Players and Nintendo fans are eager, hoping that the new console will offer innovations that uphold the company’s legacy. For now, with Nintendo Today! and the virtual game cards, the Big N is taking significant steps towards a more interactive and connected future.
The latest Nintendo Direct has provided a lot of content, and it could be the last presentation focused on Switch games. The event announced exciting news, highlighting the return of the Rhythm Heaven series with a new title called Rhythm Heaven Groove. This return has been awaited for over a decade, as it is one of the most fun and original music games ever made. I know this is love, a big hit.
I know this is love, a great hit
The first game in the series, Rhythm Tengoku, was released exclusively in Japan in 2006, generating considerable interest among Western fans despite its limited availability. Starting in 2008, with the arrival of the title Rhythm Heaven for Nintendo DS, the series began to gain international notoriety, later expanding to platforms such as Wii and 3DS. Each installment has maintained the essence of musical minigames in which players must help adorable characters keep the rhythm and overcome challenging sequences.
The wait has been long, as the last release, Megamix, came almost ten years ago. However, the excitement for the announcement of Rhythm Heaven Groove has overflowed on social media, with users expressing their joy with comments ranging from Finally, after 10 years we won! to It’s back, it’s back!, showing the impact this series has on its community of followers.
One aspect to consider is that, although the anticipation is intense, Rhythm Heaven Groove will not be released until 2026. Nevertheless, fans seem willing to wait another year to enjoy this new chapter, with the promise of a renewed experience and the hope that the series will continue to thrive in the future.
During the recent Nintendo Direct, a new game from the iconic Everybody’s Golf series was announced, titled Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots. During the recent Nintendo Direct, a new game from the iconic Everybody’s Golf series was announced, titled Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots. This release is significant, as it marks the first time a title from the saga will be available on PC, which represents an important step for fans who have been eagerly requesting a version of the game for computer. Additionally, it will also be available for Switch and PS5.
Aim and shoot
The Everybody’s Golf series, which has captivated players since the late 90s with its cartoonish approach and solid gameplay, had not released a new title since 2017. This announcement has rekindled excitement among fans, especially because it includes several game modes, such as a single-player mode, online multiplayer, and couch co-op. Additionally, a new mode called Wacky Golf will be introduced, promising to offer unique and interesting challenges for players.
However, the excitement is tempered by the fact that Hyde Inc. will take over the development of the game, instead of the traditional Clap Hanz, which has caused some uncertainty in the community. Although history is full of examples of new developers who have managed to revive and renew beloved franchises, fans cannot help but feel a certain skepticism. Despite this concern, the game’s trailer has maintained the distinctive essence of Everybody’s Golf, leaving a glimmer of hope in the hearts of fans.
Although there is still no specific release date, it has been confirmed that the game will be available this year. With its arrival on various consoles and the possibility of enjoying it in both single-player and multiplayer modes, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots promises to be a renewed attraction for golf lovers and for those seeking a fun and accessible experience.

Nintendo has a lot to share, and it has done so in the Nintendo Direct 2025. The company has announced a significant change in the way Switch players will be able to share their digital games, introducing a new virtual game card system. This system, set to launch at the end of April, will allow for easier and more convenient game sharing between Switch consoles.
Sharing games is living
The virtual game cards will appear on the console and can be shared with only one console at a time via a local wireless connection. When a player purchases a digital game, it will appear as a virtual card that can be ejected to play on another device. However, these cards can only be lent to members of the Nintendo Family Group for a maximum of two weeks, which offers family flexibility but also limitations compared to the current method.
This advance is especially relevant given the imminent arrival of the Switch 2, which could motivate many players to share and play on multiple devices. Currently, the process of sharing games between two consoles requires both to be connected to the Internet and necessitates setting one console as primary and the other as secondary, which can be cumbersome. With the new system, it is possible to play without the need for a constant connection, although once a game is shared, it will no longer be available on the original console until it is returned.
The virtual game card system seems to be more advantageous for families with multiple Switch consoles, especially those facing connectivity issues. However, those who usually share games between only two devices may find this new approach less useful, as it could eliminate the possibility of playing simultaneously on multiple consoles. With the promise that virtual game cards will be compatible with the Switch 2, Nintendo seems to be taking a step in the right direction towards a more shared and accessible gaming experience.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to launch in June of this year, according to recent reports detailing a three-phase release plan. The first phase will begin with the launch of the console, accompanied by several first-party Nintendo games, including a new Mario Kart title that was shown during a reveal trailer. Additionally, it is anticipated that more development kits will be distributed to developers in June, although some already have access to them.
A second and a third phase focused on third-party games
The analysis suggests that the second phase of the launch, scheduled for between October and November, will focus on the release of more third-party games. The third and final phase will take place during the holiday season, although details about specific releases have not yet been disclosed.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is scheduled for April 2, and additional information about other titles and features is expected to be presented. Additionally, it has been reported that there will be another Nintendo Direct focused on the original Nintendo Switch this same week, which could include previews of anticipated titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
On the other hand, the release of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition has been recently mentioned, which includes a hidden 60 FPS mode. This fact may suggest that the new console will have advanced graphical features that will allow for a better gaming experience. With the imminent launch of the Switch 2, the gaming community is eager at the possibility of rediscovering their favorite titles with significant performance improvements.
