Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is one of the most anticipated games of the year. The most anticipated game of the year, except for GTA VI. And for some people, even without the exception. And it’s no wonder. Death Stranding was for many media the GOTY of 2019 and it’s not surprising. It showed that Hideo Kojima had a lot to say outside of Konami and Metal Gear and that, in addition, it was possible to create a game where the act of walking was extremely tense and satisfying. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is one of the most anticipated games of the year. The most awaited game of the year, except for GTA VI. And for some people, even without the exception. And it’s no wonder. Death Stranding was for many media outlets the GOTY of 2019 and it’s not surprising. It showed that Hideo Kojima had a lot to say outside of Konami and Metal Gear and that, in addition, it was possible to create a game where the act of walking was extremely tense and satisfying.
Now it has to raise the stakes, because we already know how good their systems are. They must surprise us with something different, something better, because we already know the secrets of what Death Stranding is. At least, as a concept. And that’s why we are going to clarify everything we know. And everything we think we know.
Price, release date, booking and other important recent information
To begin, let’s start with the most recent news. Last Sunday, March 9, there was a special presentation about Death Stranding 2: On The Beach where new information about the game was revealed. With a new trailer lasting over ten minutes, the most interesting part is that it gave us a release date: next June 26 exclusively for PlayStation 5. The exclusivity is more than justified, considering the quality of the graphics presented in the trailer, showcasing a new graphical benchmark for the current generation of consoles.
In addition, it was also confirmed what the main theme of the game is. Titled To the Wilder, it is a song composed by Woodkid and talks about opening new paths and not getting carried away by the possibility of walking already known and worn paths, which are traps that keep us stuck in our lives. Something that may also be a nod to what we will see in this sequel. Or in the concert series Stranding Harmony, which will begin on November 8 and will tour around the world, playing the soundtrack of the now saga of Kojima’s games.
On the other hand, if you can’t wait to pre-order the game, you’ll still have to do just that. Wait a little longer. Because you won’t be able to do it until March 17, with three different editions: a standard edition, a digital deluxe edition, and a collector’s edition for €79.99, €89.99, and €249.99 respectively. The latter is only available on PlayStation Direct.
Everything we know for sure about the game
About the story, we still don’t know much. It seems to take place eleven months after the end of the first game and that the consequences of the first game have not been as positive as one might expect. Something that will lead us to once again step into the shoes of Sam Porter Bridges, brought to life by the famous actor Norman Reedus. Once again accompanied by Léa Seydoux as Fragile, Nicolas Winding Refn as Heartman, and Troy Baker as Higgs Monaghan, joining the cast are Elle Fanning, Sioli Kutsuna, Luca Marinelli, George Miller, Debra Wilson, Fatih Akin, Alastair Duncan, and Alissa Jung as Tomorrow, Rainy, Neil, Tarman, Doctor, Dollman, The President, and Lucy respectively.
From here on, we speculate freely
Up to this point, the information. From here on, we start to speculate. And the trailer has made us imagine quite a bit of what could happen in the game. To begin with, it seems that Sam and Fragile may have established some kind of romantic relationship and that, because of this, upon Higgs’ return when he comes back in search of Lou, Sam’s daughter, Fragile tries to save her at the cost of her own life. This gives Sam an even more personal reason to confront the situation this time.
At the same time, it seems that we will have new mechanics. It appears that battles will be much more common in this sequel, but it gives the impression that this is because The Beach no longer has the same effects on the planet. Whether it’s because the chiral crystals are changing the world and that separation between worlds no longer exists, or because entire parts of the game do not occur exactly in our world, it seems that combat will have a much greater weight in this sequel. Especially highlighting what seem to be battles with and against giant creatures, perhaps the most spectacular moments of its predecessor.
On the other hand, from what they say in the trailer, it seems that we are leaving the US to go to another continent. If we look at the name of the figure in the collector’s edition, it is Magellan, the famous Portuguese explorer who discovered America. If we add to that the fact that at one point a character says that the former US is exporting its form of culture to this other continent, it seems quite evident that the new place we are going to travel to is Europe. Something that was already hinted at in the original, suggesting that the situation in Europe was subtly different from that of the US.
And there also lies the impression of where the themes of the game may reside. The militarism of ancient USA, seeking to expand into other territories, and the use of AI, as it suggests that part of the problem of what is happening is the automation of distributions, could be the cause or consequence of the new uprising of Higgs, now with what is clearly a paramilitary group with sectarian overtones.
We won’t have to wait long to know if we were right
In any case, this last part is mere speculation. We do not know for sure what will happen in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long. As we have pointed out, it will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on June 26, ending the intrigue of what the genius Hideo Kojima has cooked up this time.
DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH is a premium action game from Sony Interactive and 505 Games. Directed by renowned video game designer Hideo Kojima, this serves as the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 Death Stranding. This game aims to explore another mission, this time beyond the borders of the United Cities of America. Sam returns, this time with companions, once again seeking a way to save humanity while raising Louise.
Sony announced that pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 Pro and the 30th-anniversary collection products would start today, September 26. What they didn’t provide was an estimated date. It seems that the estimated date is now because the website, when we enter, redirects us to a virtual queue where we can wait to purchase the company’s new products.
Thanks to this, if until now we only knew the prices of some of the PlayStation 5 Pro products and some of the products from the 30th anniversary collection neither publicly nor officially, we now have all the information. Including that, according to a leak by Billbil-kun, a 30th Anniversary PlayStation 5 Pro bundle would be on sale for €1099.99 and would include the PlayStation 5 Pro, a DualSense, a DualSense Edge, a controller cover, and a charging station. This bundle does not include a disc reader or a stand. A problem, because the disc reader is sold out.
Considering that this pack, in principle, should be around 30 euros more expensive than buying the pieces separately, it is an interesting offer if you are very interested in having a DualSense Edge. On the other hand, to know the rest of the possible packs, or even the prices of everything else, we will have to wait until the store is active and the queue starts moving.

Among all the games presented in their State of Play, Sony also took some time to talk about their hardware. Although they briefly discussed the capabilities of the PlayStation 5 Pro, without showing anything we didn’t already know, they also showed us something different. Sony has introduced a new line of colors, called Chroma, for the DualSense and PlayStation 5 covers. Available in three colors—Chroma Indigo, Chroma Pearl, and Chroma Aqua Green—they stand out for their chromatic tones. With a price of $89.99 for the DualSense and $75.99 for console covers, preorders for the collection will begin on October 3. Chroma Indigo and Chroma Pearl will be released on November 7, and Chroma Aqua Green on January 23, 2025.
This product line will not be available for purchase in just any store. If you want to buy them, you will have to purchase them through PlayStation Direct. So, if you’re interested in making your life a bit more chromed, you have a date with Sony on October 3rd.

Well, a week before the Summer Game Fest celebration, PlayStation organized its second State of Play event of the year. PlayStation wisely decided that the best way to ensure that their conference receives maximum attention is to organize a show before others organize theirs.
In the 30 minutes that the presentation lasted, 14 different games were presented, including Monster Hunter Wilds, Astro Bot, Concorde, and Silent Hill 2, in addition to the news that God of War Ragnarök will be coming to PC.
If you missed the live presentation, here are the main announcements and trailers. We have selected the best ones, so sit back and enjoy.
An Overwatch with Marvel characters? Your eyes don’t lie with Marvel Rivals
NetEase Games presented a new trailer for Marvel Rivals during Sony’s State of Play. And although I know that no one can claim exclusive ownership of a 5v5 hero shooter, it becomes really hard to ignore the Overwatch scent of all this when all the action in the trailer takes place in a techno-futuristic Japanese temple adorned with cherry blossoms. Things may change during the closed beta in July.
God of War Ragnarok comes to PC this September
The Ragnarök is near, if you have a PC capable of handling it. During their summer event State of Play, Sony announced that God of War Ragnarök will be coming to PC on September 19th. The news came with a new trailer announcing that the game is now available for pre-order.
Infinity Nikki, no idea really, but it’s very beautiful
I have no idea what’s going on in this game, but it looks very nice. Infinity Nikki is described as an “open-world adventure and dress-up game,” which, well, is definitely a genre. Although if we look at it from a distance, it looks more like a cute platformer Super Mario Bros. A beta version for PS5 will be released soon.
Concord, an Overwatch that mixes interestingly with Apex Legends
One year after acquiring Firewalk Studios, Sony unveils Concord, the developer’s new game, for the first time. The clip serves as an introduction to this original science fiction universe, which appears to be heavily inspired by Star Wars and the Marvel Universe.
My favorite Sony character will have another game and that’s good news for all gamers. In today’s State of Play, the company has revealed the latest Astro Bot game, which was rumored earlier this month.
It seems to be a direct sequel to Astro’s Playroom, so it will make excellent use of the PS5 controller and all its functions. The game features 50 worlds to explore – just like its predecessor, it seems that these levels will explore the history of PlayStation to varying degrees. It will be released on September 6th and will be a PS5 exclusive when it comes out.
Monster Hunter Wilds looks amazing
We finally have more details about the mysterious upcoming Monster Hunter game. Capcom has released a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds at Sony’s State of Play event, showcasing fluid combat, a dark-looking world, and what appear to be some new monsters, including one that bears a striking resemblance to a Final Fantasy chocobo.
Wilds is a continuation of the 2018 open-world title Monster Hunter World, which became Capcom’s best-selling game in history. It was first announced at The Game Awards last year and will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime next year.
Sony made a lackluster PlayStation Direct today that is saved thanks to a great announcement by Square Enix and a very good start.
Sony is not known for conferences that stand out in terms of pace or quality, except for honorable exceptions. Unfortunately, this PlayStation Direct has not been one of those exceptions. While there was a big surprise at the end and a good start, the conference got lost among half-baked announcements and dedicating too much time to things that didn’t need it. But that won’t stop us from summarizing everything that has happened so that you know all that they have announced. And even more importantly, so that you can assess everything properly.
The PlayStation Direct began with Baby Steps, and it was quite an intense way to start. Developed by Maxi Boch, Gabe Cuzzillo, and Bennett Foddy, the latter two have previously worked together on APE OUT, and Bennett Foddy is especially known for the successful game among streamers, Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. Here, they continue with their same sense of humor, combining player frustration with pushing the boundaries of game design to find what makes an experience memorable. However, we’ll have to wait until summer 2024 for its release.
Next came a small VR segment. They showed a Ghostbusters game titled Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghostlord, set to be released on October 26, and the VR mode for Resident Evil 4 Remake, scheduled for winter. They also announced the Resident Evil 4 Separate’s Ways DLC, which allows us to experience the adventure from Ada’s perspective and will be released on September 21, along with an update to the Mercenaries mode.
Outside of this block, there have been three games that have stood out especially. The arrival of Roblox on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on October 10, the release of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on December 7 and some technical aspects of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which will be released on October 20. Three advertisements that we already knew and that, despite having shown more about the games, have not shown much more that we did not know.
In addition to those, they have shown a quick preview of another game series. They have shown Ghostrunner II, an interesting platform hack’n’slash that will be released on October 26 and has a demo now available. They have shown Helldivers II, which will be released for both Steam and PlayStation 5, and have dated its release for February 8, 2024. They have announced a DLC for Tales of Arise, called Beyond the Dawn, for next November 9, without giving more information. They have tiptoed around the launch of Honkai: Star Rail on PlayStation 5 on October 11. And they have spent more time than the two previous announcements combined talking about Foamstars, a Splatoon clone that will have an open beta between September 29 and October 1.
Nevertheless, the big highlight came at the end. That’s when they announced that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on February 29, 2024. This closed a conference that lacked much excitement and could have been more interesting with a bit more effort from Sony.
