You can now try ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’ starting today

This new invention from Square Enix, the second part of the new -supposedly- definitive trilogy of Cloud and company’s adventures, is about to be released on the 29th. And we know you’re going to buy it. But just in case, they’ve already prepared a demo available on PS5. You never know.

If back in the day you were too lazy to switch discs while playing ‘Final Fantasy VII’, the four-year wait between ‘Remake’ and ‘Rebirth‘ must have felt endless. However, it’s coming to an end because this new invention from Square Enix, the second part of the -supposedly- definitive trilogy of Cloud and company’s adventures, is about to be released on the 29th. And we know you’re going to buy it. But just in case, they have already prepared a demo available on PS5. You never know.

Simple Bread Rolls

The demo will show you the first steps of the Nibelheim episode, where you can choose to play as Cloud or Sephiroth. “Discover the initial episode of the game’s story and explore the world map. Your adventure, your choice!”, says Square itself. It is one of the surprises that Sony was possibly keeping for today’s State of Play, which promises to be a strong statement.

It will be there where we will know everything about this ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’ that will continue from ‘Remake’ but will not keep your stats from that game. If you finished at maximum level with the idea of making the next game a walk, we have bad news. The remakes that change key plot elements, in the style of ‘Evangelion’, are starting to become something very common and certainly logical: keep the fans attentive and let them trust to then give them the blow.

No one knows exactly what will be hidden among the intertwined stories of ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’, but for the first time, we can get close to intuiting them. These are sweet times for lovers of RPGs, because just a couple of years ago, a remake of ‘Crisis Core’ also appeared for all consoles, and, truth be told, it is having much more success than the sixteenth part released last year.

No one knows what awaits in the future of Square Enix, but the success and hype caused by this ‘Rebirth’ leads to think that, maybe, perhaps, it is time to get to work retelling the most beloved episodes of the franchise and leave the seventeenth part for a moment when the audience is more receptive.

AAA games are becoming mid-budget games for Sony: spend as if there’s no tomorrow

Sony has already believed that AAA games cannot cost less than that amount. One hundred million is the average budget. From there, we can talk about the word “blockbuster.”

There haven’t been many video games throughout history whose creation has cost more than 100 million dollars. According to Wikipedia, only 17 titles including ‘Spider-Man 2‘, ‘The Last of Us 2’ or ‘Destiny’. But Sony has already believed that AAA games cannot cost less than that amount. One hundred million is the average budget. From there, we can talk about the word “blockbuster”. Do you know the bubble we are experiencing in the film world this year? Well, there are some things coming.

PlayStation Store DOWNLOAD

One hundred million, where will they go?

In other words: Sony needs to sell one and a half million units at $70 each of this budget video game just to break even. And, hopefully, make some kind of profit. And as much as some insist, no: selling one and a half million video games outside of sales is by no means the norm.

In fact, currently only three titles have surpassed this barrier: ‘Spider-Man 2’ (5 million), ‘Elden Ring’ (3.64 million) and ‘Final Fantasy XVI’ (3 million), with an honorable mention to ‘Demon’s Souls’ that almost reaches one and a half million. If the long-term strategy is to create expensive AAA games to promote and consider games like ‘Lords of the Fallen’ practically indies, things are not going well.

And yet, according to leaked documents from Insomniac, we know that ‘Wolverine’ already intends to spend 305 million dollars and ‘Spider-Man 3’ 385, only surpassed by the two versions of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ and, of course, the always anticipated and never fully released ‘Star Citizen’. Is this really what we want for the future of the industry? Frankly, we should think twice about it.

Miles Morales has a life beyond the video game: a new suit, a job as a vampire hunter… and magical powers.

Blood Hunt, a 2024 event that will bring together The Avengers, Blade and Miles Morales fighting against the vampire clan that now lives in – believe it or not – Chernobyl.

Everyone is talking about ‘Spider-Man 2,’ the video game for PS5 that brings Peter Parker and Miles Morales together, saving New York while being friends and neighbors, as always. However, in another universe, they’re going through some tough times: if you read the comic book panels, you’ll know that Peter Parker lost Mary Jane (forever?), and he even became the Black Goblin after accidentally injecting himself with the sins of Norman Osborn. And his partner? Well, it’s not so easy to explain.

Spider-Man, vampire hunter

Crossovers in Marvel are a common occurrence, something that happens every few months to capture the audience’s attention in one way or another. However, the truth is that, of late, they haven’t managed to be all that interesting. That’s what’s happening with ‘Blood Hunt,’ a 2024 event that will bring together the Avengers, Blade, and Miles Morales to fight against the vampire clan now residing in – believe it or not – Chernobyl.

There’s still some time left before the upcoming battle, but in the meantime, Miles has received a new suit from none other than Blade. And not just any suit but a vampire hunter suit with an integrated cape and, as a result, magical powers. Yes, that’s right. Spider-Man’s webs will now have holy water, enchantments, and that sort of thing. The same goes for the venom strike. And most importantly, no, it’s not a symbiote. At least, we hope it’s not.

By the way, in case you only know the character from his wonderful animated movies, it’s worth noting that no, he’s not dating Spider-Gwen. It seemed like it, but things took a different turn at the last moment. Not with Kamala Khan either, or… well, let’s just say that Miles Morales is a better superhero than a ladies’ man. Well, he’s underage, he still has time to learn from Peter Park… well, on second thought, maybe he shouldn’t learn from anyone. Just in case.

Finally, PlayStation will allow cloud gaming. Now it remains to be seen if there is an audience that wants it

Times have changed and now the cloud is beginning to be seen as a place not just for storing photos, but for being able to play video games wherever you are, even if you don’t have your PS5 with you.

If you’re very young, you might have always lived with the idea of “the cloud,” but there was a time when it scared all of us. “Are my photos going to be in the ‘cloud’? And my videos? And my life, in general?” Oh no! Times have changed, and now the cloud is being considered not just as a storage space for photos but also as a place where you can play video games wherever you are, even if you don’t have your PS5 with you.

PlayStation App DOWNLOAD

You are always in the clouds

What exactly does this ‘cloud gaming’ mean? Well, it’s quite simple to explain: it’s like Netflix. You click on a game, and then it plays from Sony’s servers without the need to download it. The company promises that you can play in 4K, 60 fps, and HDR if your internet speed is good enough, in addition to taking screenshots and recording video clips up to three minutes long.

And what games will be available to play starting from October 30th? Well, there will be big titles like ‘Spider-man: Miles Morales,’ ‘Resident Evil 4 Remake,’ ‘Horizon Forbidden West,’ ‘Ghost of Tsushima,’ ‘Mortal Kombat 11,’ or ‘Fortnite,’ among others. However, you’ll need to shell out for the premium version of PS Plus, which costs 16.99 euros per month or 151.99 euros per year. It depends on what you play, of course.

“All that being said, in Xbox Series S/X, cloud gaming is something they’ve known for years thanks to Game Pass. Moreover, other services like Nvidia’s GeForce Now offer it, and Netflix is already working on ways to make it globally popular. For now, it’s good to see that PS5 owners will also finally get a glimpse of what’s around the corner.

However, there are still many players who don’t want to switch to cloud gaming, not because they don’t believe in the future, but because… the gameplay quality is sometimes very low if too many people are trying to access it at the same time. Nevertheless, when they figure out how to make it work, could it be the first step towards a PS5 without a hard drive, solely for cloud gaming? No doubt.”

Now you’re going to be able to play Red Dead Redemption better than ever

Before announcing the third part and breaking the Internet with a slam on the table, it has decided to give one more twist to one of its great star titles.

Red Dead Redemption” is 13 years old, but there’s not a month that goes by without it making headlines. Whether it’s due to its release on Nintendo Switch or because a player has achieved something incredible, there’s no doubt that Rockstar keeps raking in stacks of cash with John Marston‘s adventures in the Old West. But before announcing the third installment and breaking the internet with a single move, they have decided to give one of their flagship titles another twist.

Red Dead Redemption DOWNLOAD

The Red Dead Redemption

And, without warning, they have released patch 1.03 on the PlayStation Store, which gives the game a 60fps mode, something many have been requesting for a long time. The problem? You’ll have to make a choice. Either 30fps at higher resolution or 60fps but slightly worse graphics. You can’t have it all in this life, at least until they release its inevitable remake in a few years.

This improvement (depending on how you look at it) is currently available only on PlayStation 5. Since the game is not native to that console, it’s a way for Sony to give it a boost and allow players of the new generation to give it another chance. It was released on PlayStation 4 on August 17, so this is a way to provide an extra incentive for those using the later console with backward compatibility.

“A game from PS3, released on PS4, and enhanced on PS5. That’s what they call milking the cow until it runs dry. At least, it did come with ‘Undead Nightmare,’ its DLC, although the price tag remained prohibitively high for a title that hasn’t even received a facelift. I personally remember the day I bought this game right when it was released. And yes, indeed, I’m signing the papers for the nursing home now. Might as well start now than be shocked when ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ gets its remake on PS6.”

Sony’s PS5 Sales Figures Revealed: Another Astounding Success since 2020

Today it is easy to get a PS5, but until not long ago buying a next-generation console from Sony was quite a feat, hence the merit…

If you have a PS5 in your living room, I’m sorry to say that you are no longer unique. There was a time when you were, as they were rarer to find than the Philosopher’s Stone, but now they are available in all stores worldwide, and it shows.

Sony has announced that it has sold over 40 million PlayStation 5 consoles, despite the “unprecedented challenges of COVID” and supply chain issues.

Unlike the press release shared when the PS5 surpassed 10 million units sold in July 2021, Sony did not qualify its flagship console as the “fastest-selling console in the history of Sony Interactive Entertainment,” indicating a slower sales pace even as supply problems eased.

A perfect 2023 for Sony

PlayStation 5 shipments have started to increase this year. Sony nearly reached the milestone of 40 million consoles sold in early 2023 and tripled the number of consoles shipped from January to March 2023, with 6.3 million units.

During the same period last year, they had only sold 2 million PlayStation 5 units. “For more months than I can remember, we continue to thank our community for their patience as we worked through these issues,” says Jim Ryan, President, and CEO of Sony.

“Now the supply of PS5 is well-stocked, and we are seeing that pent-up demand is finally being met.” This was evident as soon as consoles started arriving in stores, thanks to the discounts that Sony applied to the PS5 for the first time.

Even so, PlayStation 5 sales have dominated this generation (excluding Nintendo Switch, which sells like hotcakes), significantly surpassing both Xbox series consoles since all were launched in November 2020.

The Console Battle: Is Sony Falling Behind in the War with PS5?

Where are those sagas? Does PS5 really pay off right now? What if it turns out that, no matter how many consoles you sell… you are, paradoxically, losing?

Upon reading the headline, I already know what everyone is thinking: “How can they be losing when the PS5 is continuously breaking sales records?” And it’s true. But it’s also true that, at present, it is selling out of momentum. You’ve been a loyal PlayStation fan since you first pirated the original console in 1997, and by now, you’re hooked on its game franchises. The problem is, where are those franchises now? Is it really worth investing in a PS5 at this moment? What if, despite selling a significant number of consoles, Sony is paradoxically losing ground?

Steam DOWNLOAD

Win or lose

Let’s start with an uncomfortable truth: as much as “true gamers” may want to boast, PlayStation 4 fell short against the Nintendo Switch, just as PlayStation 3 did against the Wii. Heck, only 3 million units separated it from the Xbox 360. Who’s to say that in a turbulent gaming world, where the trailer for ‘Super Mario Bros Wonder’ can exceed all expectations for the year, there can’t be a turnaround?

Let’s take a look at the truly exclusive games for the PS5, those that won’t have a version for the PS4 like ‘God of War: Ragnarok’ did. There are three heavy hitters, of course: ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth,’ ‘Spider-Man 2,’ and, temporarily, ‘Final Fantasy XVI.’ Frankly, it’s not enough reason to spend 500 euros. And considering that ‘GTA VI,’ the next big game-changer, will also be available on Xbox Series and Steam, the argument is losing steam.

It’s possible that Microsoft isn’t effectively marketing the advantages of its new Xbox and Game Pass, even though it actually competes in a league more similar to PC gaming… but with a plethora of exclusives (and more to come) at an affordable price. Is it possible that if the audience embraces cloud gaming and streaming better, Sony’s dominance could come to an end?

Or is that once again the job of a reinforced Nintendo, following the success of ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,’ which is already rumored to have plans for launching a new console very soon? For the first time in a long while, especially after the negative publicity surrounding its inability to meet demand, Sony is beginning to realize that, no matter how much it tries to boast, it starts this generation with losing cards that it’s struggling to turn around solely through blockbuster games.

You’ve surely heard the phrase “Why bother with a PS5 right now”… and it holds a lot of truth. There’s no pressing need for a PS5 at the moment. Not at these prices, not with these games, not with such fierce competition. Could we be witnessing the beginning of the end of the gaming paradigm of the past few decades, or has it already changed, despite some people’s reluctance to admit it?

Sony announces Project Leonardo to improve accessibility on PS5 consoles

Sony recently delivered the CES 2023 presentation, where it addressed how it will attend to the gaming needs of gamers with physical handicaps. While some games have accessibility options, the hardware components to meet these requirements are lacking. Enter Project Leonardo, presenting a new solution.

In one of the latest blog posts, Sony details how the new controller kit works. It mimics the PS5 controller with colors and schemes, but it’s more effective for gamers with physical handicaps. There’s a joystick, and the buttons are on a circular pad. The best part is that you can configure the buttons to match your preferred setup for any compatible game.

Sony announces Project Leonardo

You can also set three profiles, which lets you switch between them at any time. From the look of the images, it also looks like you decide where you want the buttons to be. Of course, you’ll probably need to establish the button configuration on the PS5’s software, so it knows how to allocate them.

Project Leonardo has various face and trigger buttons. You can easily move the joystick anywhere in relation to the gamepad, giving you more comfort and playability options. If you still want to use your dual sense controller, you’ll be able to add this new controller kit to it. Also, you can just use the accessibility controller without integration with the PS5 controller.

There are audio ports for you to connect headphones or any other audio kits. They’re in a convenient position for you to comfortably play any of your PS5 games without the cables being annoying. Still, I suppose it would be better if you have Bluetooth earphones to avoid the use of any wires.

While Sony hasn’t indicated a release date for Project Leonardo as yet, I’m keen to see if handicapped gamers will enjoy the new controller. It looks pretty good, and I only hope that it’s easy and comfortable to use.

Top Franchises We Want to See Return on the Next-Gen Consoles

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are already here. The next generation of consoles has made an impressive debut, surpassing the expectations of Sony and Microsoft with all inventory sold out worldwide. It’s clear that if there’s one thing this grim year has been unable to destroy, it’s the desire to play video games.

Horizon Forbidden West

As with every generational change, the transition from PS4 and Xbox One to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will be slow. This is clearly reflected by their launch titles, as the majority of the games available and those to come are crossgen. However, the start of a generation is always magical for gamers, who see in the new consoles the potential for the return of their favorite franchises. In new and improved versions, of course!

In today’s article, we’re going to let our imaginations run wild and fantasize, just for a moment, about the video game franchises we’d like to see on Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5. There’s never been a better time to dream about what this new generation of video games might have in store for us.

Uncharted

Nathan Drake en Uncharted 4

Let’s start our list with one of PlayStation’s most beloved and prized franchises: Uncharted. The last time we saw Nathan Drake was in 2016, on an adventure that would lead him to search for Henry Avery’s treasure with his brother Sam. Action-packed and full of heart-stopping cinematics, Uncharted 4 became one of the most anticipated games on PS4. However, since then we haven’t heard much from Drake except for the spin-off starring his partner, Chloe Frazer. No PlayStation launch has been without an Uncharted release to make the most of the new console, so why would PS5 be any different? We look forward to Nathan Drake’s return for a new journey, or perhaps to see his daughter Cassie take the reins of this adventure franchise.

Dead Space

Dead Space 3

Created by Visceral Games, the Dead Space franchise was a big hit with horror game fans. In it we play Isaac Clarke, a systems engineer who will be involved in a real nightmare when answering an emergency call from the USG Ishimura spacecraft. Clearly inspired by Alien, Dead Space managed to terrorize even the bravest of gamers with its grotesque necromorphs. However, after three editions, we lost all contact with Clarke in 2013. Although Visceral Games closed in 2017, we believe that reviving the Dead Space saga would make the most of the next-generation consoles.

Rival Schools

Rival Schools

Fans of Capcom’s beat ’em up will surely have fond memories of the Rival Schools franchise. These 3D fighting games featured fun battles between rival schools, where you had to defeat your enemies in three-on-three matches. One of the most entertaining aspects of Rival Schools is that all of its characters were downright memorable. We had the “popular kids” team, the class baddies, the American exchange students, the jocks… even the teachers from one of the high schools! Rival Schools is also memorable because it’s set in the same universe as the Street Fighter series. In fact, you’ll see Sakura at school and even blushing as she chats with her classmates about Ryu. The last time we got to play Rival Schools was in 2000, with the release of Project Justice: Rival Schools 2 for Dreamcast. It’s about time that Capcom brings back this classic!

Suikoden

Suikoden 2

Suikoden is a name that has earned a place in the hearts of all JRPG lovers. This long-running franchise spans five games and a couple of spin-offs that are considered by many to be the pinnacles of the genre. What always distinguished the Suikoden franchise from other JRPGs is that it dealt with a mature story, far from the clichés of the genre and where one could recruit up to 108 characters for the main character’s troops. Suikoden also included, in addition to the sequences typical of all JRPGs, the ability to manage a camp, city, castle and even a pirate ship as you progressed through the game. It also mixed classic turn-based combat with large-scale combat, naval battles, and one-on-one fighting. The last time we were able to play a Suikoden game was in 2006. We think it’s high time that we enjoyed a new edition!

Banjo-Kazooie

Banjo-Kazooie: Baches y Cachivaches

Banjo-Kazooie was a fun 3D platform saga starring a bear and a bird with a lot of fighting spirit. While at first it might seem like a mere clone of Spyro for Nintendo, Banjo-Kazooie stood out for its vast worlds full of bizarre characters and wacky stories, making it a delight for gamers. The hilarious dynamic between the bear and the bird was frankly difficult to match. Despite its success, the franchise was running out of steam, and the final sequel called Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts was released for Xbox 360. We would love for Microsoft to bring back this magnificent franchise and give it the facelift it deserves for Xbox Series X/S.

Dino Crisis

Dino Crisis

Shinji Mikami, the creative mind behind the Resident Evil franchise, made the leap from zombies to dinosaurs with the Dino Crisis franchise. In it we met Regina, a formidable heroine who, during a reconnaissance mission on a scientific base, was trapped in an authentic Jurassic hell. While Dino Crisis wasn’t as innovative as Resident Evil, this survival horror game built up a solid base of fans who were thrilled to go up against the title’s velociraptors or even T-Rex. After the remake of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, we think it’s reasonable to expect Capcom to revise the three installments of this wonderful franchise.

Legacy of Kain

Soul Reaver

The Legacy of Kain franchise has always offered a superb mix of action and adventure wrapped in a story that revolves around revenge. In both Blood Omen and Soul Reaver, we had the chance to explore Nosgoth while hunting and capturing those who betrayed us. With several sequels behind them, Kain and Raziel became beloved characters for the gaming community. However, we haven’t heard from these vampires since 2003. We hope that the arrival of this new generation of consoles is our chance to Nosgoth to exact revenge.

The Witcher

The Witcher 3

Yes, we know that CD Projekt RED just released the extraordinary Cyberpunk 2077. That game is very good, but frankly we miss Geralt and the gang. Although The Witcher 3 brought the sorcerer’s story to an incredible end, we were left wanting more, and frankly, we couldn’t think of better news than the announcement of a fourth installment for PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. Although Geralt’s story is over, Ciri’s could always continue… Don’t you agree?

Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark

Four years before Resident Evil coined the term “Survival Horror,” there was Alone in the Dark. This polygonal 3D adventure marked a turning point for video games, terrorizing gamers around the world as they explored the mysterious Derceto mansion. The Alone in the Dark franchise had many sequels, some of them as acclaimed as the great Alone in the Dark 2 and even a reboot of its first installment, but after the lousy Alone in the Dark: Illumination, the franchise died. We believe that this horror franchise deserves another chance, and the launch of the new generation of consoles is the perfect opportunity for a fresh start.

Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider

We can’t talk about consoles without mentioning the indefatigable Lara Croft. The charismatic adventurer won the hearts of gamers around the world when she debuted on PlayStation, and to this day, you can’t go wrong with Tomb Raider if you’re looking for a good action-adventure game. With 11 games behind her and having saved the world from the Mayan apocalypse, it would be almost sacrilege if Lara didn’t return one more time to thrill us with one of her expeditions. We hope that we’re not wrong and that we soon see her making the most of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Bonus pick: PaRappa the Rapper

Parappa the Rapper

Everyone loves a good rhythm game so… how about the return of PaRappa the Rapper? The adventures of the flattest rapper in video game history are remembered to this day for their curious graphics and hilarious lyrics (and choreography!). With a sequel behind it and an entertaining spin-off, Um Jammer Lammy, we’d love the chance to enjoy its lively beats once again on the next-gen consoles.

Everything You Need to Know About PS5

The next-gen PlayStation has already hit the market with its long-awaited PS5. The new Sony console comes loaded with spectacular new features and functions users awaited with bated breath, like the use of an SSD and backward compatibility with PS4 games. With a new –and somewhat large– design and the most powerful hardware created to date by Sony, we have the definitive console for PlayStation lovers on our hands.

PlayStation 5

The new PlayStation 5 has enjoyed a unprecedentedly successful launch. It is sold out around the world, and with Christmas just around the corner, it is the most ask-for item by the entire gamer community. But what does the PS5 offer to be breaking records after being on the market for just one month?

In today’s article we’ll review everything you need to know about the latest console from Sony. The PlayStation 5 is not only a large console, but it is ready to turn everything we know about video games upside down.

There are two versions of PS5 available on the market

Versiones de PlayStation 5

Like Microsoft, Sony offers two versions of PS5 at its launch: the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition. Both consoles are exactly the same with one tiny difference. The PlayStation 5 has an Ultra Blu-ray 4K UHD drive while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition does not. That way Sony can offer all digital game users a console that is considerably cheaper but just as powerful as the version with an Ultra Blu-ray reader.

The launch prices for the consoles are:

  • PlayStation 5- 499.99€
  • PlayStation 5 Digital Edition- 399.99€

PS5 Specs

PlayStation 5 uses a 7nm Zen 2 architecture processor manufactured by AMD. Its chip is 8-core with a frequency of 3.5 GHz. That’s quite a considerable increase compared to its predecessor, because even though PS4 also had an 8-core CPU, its top frequency was 1.6 GHz.

As for its graphics card, the console has an AMD Navi with a performance of 10.28 TFLOPS (Teraflops), 36 CUs (Compute Units), and 2.23 GHz (Gigahertz) of variable frequency. PlayStation 4 only has a 1.84 TFLOPS GPU and 18 CUs at 800 MHz. That’s a big difference.

PS5 has 16 GB of RAM / 256 bit with a bandwidth of 448 GB/s. Its predecessor had 8GB of GDDR5 RAM with a bandwidth of 176 GB/s.

Let’s talk about its SSD storage unit. According to Sony, this “will change the way we play video games” since it will speed up loading times, cutting them back to nearly 0. PS5 has an 825 GB SSD that offers a speed of up to 5.5 GB/s in uncompressed data and 9 GB/s in compressed data. The console also has an NVMe slot to expand internal storage with other SSDs that have been validated by Sony.

Here’s a summary of all the technical data for PlayStation 5:

  • CPU: Zen 2 8 cores at 3.5GHz
  • GPU: 28 TFLOPs, 36 CUs at 2.23GHz
  • GPU architecture: RDNA 2
  • Memory/Interface: 16GB GDDR6/256-bit
  • Memory Bandwidth: 448GB/s
  • Storage: 825GB SSD
  • I/O: 5GB/s, 8-9GB/s on average
  • Storage expansion: NVMe SSD slot
  • External storage: USB HDD compatible
  • Reader: 4K UHD Blu-ray (the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition doesn’t have one)
  • Dimensions: 390mm x 104mm x 260mm (390mm x 92mm x 260mm for the PS5 Digital Edition model)
  • Weight: 5 kg/3.9 kg (PS5 Digital Edition)

DualSense: The revolutionary PS5 controller

Mando DualSense

Without a doubt, one of the most cutting-edge features of PlayStation 5 is its new DualSense controller. This speeds past the already classic Sony DualShock to offer us an amazing experience that goes far beyond mere vibrations.

DualSense’s goal is to immerse the player in the game thanks to its haptic feedback technology. It does so with motors capable of transmitting tactile experiences to the players. They allow you to feel the terrain your character is walking on, really immersing you in the story. You’ll be able to tell through touch if you’re walking on metal, ice, breaking glass, water, sand, mud, etc.

Another really interesting feature of the DualSense is that the L2 and R2 triggers have an adaptive resistance system. That way you can simulate your actions in the game. If you’re shooting an arrow, the trigger will stiffen as you pull back the bow. If the trigger of your gun has gotten stuck, the DualSense’s trigger will act the same way, so you can’t pull it.

The DualSense controllers have a headphone jack, so you can play with the volume turned up until the wee hours of the morning without needing wireless headphones.

Here’s what backward compatibility with PS4 looks like

Days Gone

For many players, backward compatibility with PS4 is a major factor when choosing PS5. Since the first model of PS3, Sony has not invested in the backward compatibility with their old consoles. Fortunately, with the arrival of the new PlayStation things have changed.

PlayStation 5 is compatible with 99% of PS4 titles, which you can access in two ways: by inserting your original disc or by downloading it from the Play Store. Once installed, these will work just like they did with the old Sony console.

According to the Sony support page, there are 10 PS4 games that are not compatible with PS5. They are:

  • DWVR
  • Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
  • TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2
  • Just Deal With It!
  • Shadow Complex Remastered
  • Robinson: The Journey
  • We Sing
  • Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
  • Shadwen
  • Joe’s Diner

Some PS4 games will work better on PS5. These are the ones that will enjoy the so-called Game Boost. They will have shorter loading times, lower FPS, greater stability, and 4K. At the moment, the titles that have these improvements are:

  • Ghost of Tsushima- Reduced loading time and can be played at 60 FPS.
  • Days Gone- Runs in dynamic 4k and at 60 FPS.
  • God of War- Runs at 60 FPS.
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2- Improves its frame rate.

Other games, such as The Witcher 3, have already announced that they are working on a free patch that will bring the long-awaited Game Boost to the game.

PS4 titles’ saved games will be compatible in most of the PS5 games, although Sony has warned that not in all. To transfer your saved games, you can download them directly from your PS Plus cloud storage, use a USB drive, or simply use the PS4 to PS5 data transfer utility that the console has.

What is the PlayStation Plus Collection?

PlayStation Plus Collection

PlayStation Plus Collection is Sony’s incentive to PS5 owners to subscribe to its PS Plus service.

This is a collection of the most popular PlayStation 4 games so that they can be played on any PS5 starting the day the console is launched.
