After a pretty good State of Play, we once again have faith that Sony can do things right. Slowly but surely, there is hope. With a great pace, many games—perhaps more remasters than we would like, although most of them were unexpected and exciting—Sony still has a good grasp on its players. This was demonstrated by the announcement of Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima.
Developed by Sucker Punch, the studio behind the original game, it seems that Ghost of Yotei will share the same spirit, but it will be a game that does not share anything narratively with the previous installment. Set in 1603, almost 350 years after the original game, the protagonist is a woman named Atsu accompanied by a wolf, and who always carries a shamisen on her back. She is traveling through the northern lands of Hokkaido, on the other side of Japan.
We say they share a spirit because from what we’ve seen in the trailer, the gameplay foundation is very similar. The katana duels, horseback travels, and breathtaking views are still there, but the tone is subtly different. With Spanish guitar and a twilight tone, it has a more western, laid-back feel, reminiscent of Italian spaghetti westerns like those of the master Sergio Leone.
On the PlayStation Blog, Andrew Goldfarb, communication manager at Sucker Punch, wanted to emphasize precisely this. The studio wanted to shift the focus from Jin Sakai and the island of Tsushima to the idea of the ghost, and to see how that mask would relate to another protagonist, another story, and another region. Hence, we should expect the game to also involve changes in gameplay, but still expect to be a wandering warrior, exploring the land at our own pace, and observing beautiful landscapes in the process.
Additionally, they have confirmed that this will be the first game by Sucker Punch made from the ground up for PlayStation 5. Although Ghost of Tsushima had a version for the console and for PC, it was initially developed with PlayStation 4 in mind. Therefore, it is expected to be one of the first games to truly take advantage of the potential of Sony’s console, which has been on the market for four years now. It will be released in 2025 on a yet-to-be-determined date.

With around forty minutes of announcements, it has been a swift presentation filled with announcements. With something for everyone, without falling into the trap of showing excessively long trailers or sections that monopolize attention for too long, they have managed to keep the audience engaged at all times. Supported by both their usual partners and some unexpected names, as well as being carried by a handful of big names, taking the opportunity to shine.
Perhaps the most surprising thing came from what usually surprises the least. The remakes. Announcing for spring Lunar Remastered Collection for spring 2025 and Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1-2 Remastered for the upcoming December 10, both for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, it seems they have had a significant nod to fans of some of the biggest cult games from the company’s first console. A bit less exciting was the announcement of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for the upcoming October 31. Upgradable from the base version of PlayStation 4 and PC for 9.99 euros.
Surprisingly, VR has not taken up much space. Although it has occupied a very interesting place. Metro Awakening will arrive next November 7th and Hitman World of Assassination will follow in December. However, the most interesting release in this regard is The Midnight Walk, the first game from Moon Hood Studios, a game developed by veterans who worked on Lost in Random, whose characters and settings are entirely designed in clay, and which will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PSVR2 in 2025.
Something else they have announced are numerous DLCs and updates. Alan Wake 2 will receive its second DLC, The Lake House, next October. Stellar Blade will receive a photo mode, as well as a collaboration with Nier Automata in the form of a DLC throughout 2024. And Astro Bot, as we already knew, will have a DLC that will add new robots and challenge stages, still without a date.
In turn, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge has received a DLC called Radical Reptiles that introduces two new playable characters, Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa, in addition to a new soundtrack. Also, today Palworld arrives on PlayStation 5, as has been rumored for some time. Although it may not be with the best timing in the world, considering the current situation with Nintendo.
Going by months, it shows that Sony has wanted to end the narrative that there is nothing to play on their console. To begin with, Fear the Spotlight, a third-person horror game by Cozy Game Pals, and the first game published by Blumhouse Games, will be released on October 22 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 after appearing on PC with very positive reviews. Similarly, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on October 31, which they have taken advantage of to show a new trailer of an intense boss fight.

For the rest of the year, they have also announced things. Although all already known. We have LEGO Horizon Adventures on the horizon for next November 14, Fantasian Neon Dimension on December 5 and Sonic X Shadow Generations on December 12. All both on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The major announcements of the event, in fact, have been for 2025. Practically all with dates. Hell is Us has not been one of them, but this post-apocalyptic soulslike for PlayStation 5 looks spectacular. Just as spectacular are Dynasty Warriors Origins and Monster Hunter Wilds, which had appeared at previous brand events, and finally have release dates: January 17 and February 28 respectively.
Although there has been a major release, it has been Ghost of Yōtei. Developed by Sucker Punch, this is the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. With a scheduled release date for 2025 and a female protagonist, we have little information beyond a spectacular trailer and a more twilight tone than the previous game, which makes us have faith that, although it still has a lot of work ahead, perhaps Sony still has gas in the tank.
Bungie is not in its best situation. In addition to several large-scale scandals, it seems they have been losing a lot of money for some time now. Bungie is not in its best situation. In addition to several large-scale scandals, it seems they have been losing a lot of money for some time now. That doesn’t take away from the fact that Destiny 2 is in one of its sweetest moments. And on the horizon, it seems they have a secured future with the return of the legendary Marathon, this time in the form of an extraction shooter. We now know the first relevant details about it.
Several different sources have been talking to The Game Post about this game, clarifying some aspects about the first product of the relationship between Sony and Bungie. Perhaps the most unexpected thing is that, like the two service games that Sony has already published, Marathon will not be free-to-play. It will be a paid game that will cost 40 euros.
Getting into what interests us the most, one of The Game Post’s sources has been able to provide some information about the state of the game and what we can expect from it. According to this person, Marathon will follow the class structure of games like Escape from Tarkov, but with a Bungie-style twist. Additionally, they already have two maps completed in a fully playable state. One of them is aboard the Marathon ship and the other in an abandoned colony on an alien planet.
All this fits with what we already know about the game. Having seen nothing more than a trailer, the information we have so far is that it will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and that it will be an extraction shooter. Additionally, its release plan was for 2024 until a delay made its release date completely indefinite at the time of writing. This would lend credibility to the fact that they have at least two maps already in a fully playable state.
After the failure of Concord and the cancellation of more than half of its free-to-play game projects, the general feeling is that Marathon is Sony’s big bet for this type of game. Despite the resounding success of Helldivers 2, it does not seem that this shift towards online component games has notably worked for the Japanese company. That is why we will be attentive to what happens with Marathon and Bungie. Because it will probably mean a lot for the future of Sony.
Marathon is an exciting action game developed by Bungie for Play Station 5. The game is set in a lost colony on Tau Ceti IV, where a massive ghost ship hangs in low orbit. The game revolves around strange signals hinting at mysterious artifacts, dormant artificial intelligence, and countless treasures. You play as a runner, venturing into the unknown in a fight for fame and infamy.
The video game industry has been changing for several years. The microconductor crisis of years ago was just a prelude to what we are experiencing now: there is an evident increase in prices. Components do not reduce in cost, consoles seem to live in limbo, and nothing follows previously followed course. Something that seems to have worsened with the announcement of Sony’s new console, the PlayStation 5 Pro. But, is it as bad as people say?
First, let’s review what’s been going on. On September 10th, Sony streamed a presentation announcing an update to their current console, the PlayStation 5 Pro. Its key performance features, as they have indicated, are that its GPU has 67% more processing units and 28% more memory, which offers 45% faster rendering. This, combined with improved ray tracing (doubling or even tripling the speeds of the current PlayStation 5), and PlayStation’s Spectral Super Resolution (an AI-powered resolution enhancement), would make it possible to achieve much better image quality without sacrificing performance in games.
All of this, as promised, would come with specific patches for a series of specific PlayStation 5 games. In addition, the PS5 Pro Game Boost would add improvements to up to 8,500 PlayStation 4 games, compatible with the console.
Unfortunately, none of this was evident at the conference. Due to streaming comprehension, the differences in image or performance between both consoles were barely noticeable. Even in comparisons that have appeared subsequently, from independent subjects, there is no radical difference in performance. Or at least, not in games that didn’t have optimization problems to begin with. The only game that has shown a radical change is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which was controversial at its launch due to its graphic issues.
This relatively small leap, as it seems, it will be, would not be a problem in itself. Except that the price and what it offers in that regard is quite a serious leap. Because, PlayStation 5 Pro costs the incredible amount of $700.00. To that, we add the price of the disc player and the stand, if we want to play our physical games or have it in a vertical position.
That’s the problem: the price. Asking for $700 at a time when people are having economic problems doesn’t seem like a very smart idea, and is even less so when consoles have never been priced in that range. Sony itself had to admit, that trying to raise the price of the PlayStation 3 was a colossal mistake.
What reason could they have to launch a clearly suboptimal console for $800.00? We can think of at least three. The first is that they want to test the waters. To see if the market is ready for a generous increase in console prices, where they don’t have to sell them at a loss, as they have done since the first generation of PlayStation. The second reason could be that executives see PlayStation as Apple. They believe it is a company of early adopters, of people who will jump to the company’s latest product because of its associated prestige, and that the price will not only not be a reason to stop them, but will motivate them to buy it. The third reason is pure and simple arrogance, simply wanting to maximize profits.
In any case, the success or failure of PlayStation Pro could end up determining the future of PlayStation 6, and even, perhaps, the future of the gaming industry. The success of this console at this price would not prevent them from launching their next console at a much higher price. Failure would make them reconsider the price of the console, or even what its technical features will be or exactly what kind of company they want to be in the future.
Because let’s remember: Sony is in a transition phase. After the dismissal of Jim Ryan, this is their last shot. The executives have been able to change marketing aspects and adjust the price, but the console and everything around it has already been given to them. While Hiroki Totoki is interim president, it has not yet been decided who will be the next president of Sony or what shape the company will take. Whether it will follow Ryan’s steps with what he did in PlayStation 4 and 5, whether it will go back to Shuhei Yoshida’s steps, or whether it will have a completely different approach.
The success or failure of the Playstation 5 Pro is important, and what happens in the boardrooms will depend on it. It will determine the direction Sony will move in the future. Will it continue to try to compete with Microsoft, will it try to be the old Sony again, or whether it will seek a new path? All of that will depend, among other things, on PlayStation 5 Pro. And if it succeeds, one thing is certain: the future does not look positive for gamers.
Sony wanted to jump on the bandwagon of games as a service and hero shooters with Concord, failing miserably, but why?
Everyone wants their own Fortnite. Or they want to be Fortnite instead of Fortnite. Alternatively, for those who are aware that this is impossible, they want to be the new Overwatch. Now that Blizzard’s game has self-destructed without any ceremony or meaning, there is an obvious opportunity for other companies to take its place. That’s why we see so many games on the horizon that seem to aim to fill that void. Hero shooters that work as games as a service. But if Sony has taught us something with Concord, maybe this is not the right way to go.
Concord is an exciting new addition to the world of competitive first-person shooters (FPS), developed by a team of experienced veterans who previously worked on the immensely popular game Destiny.
Concord, the new Sony video game developed by Firewalk Studios, was released on August 20th. Only 14 days later, on September 6th, its servers were shut down. This game as a service aimed to compete in the Overwatch space, but it has ultimately cost both Sony and Firewalk years of work and a significant amount of money that could have funded a couple of games. But why has this happened? That is a very good question that we can try to answer.
The most obvious and immediate answer is that, obviously, there was no interest from the players. In addition to the lack of a solid marketing strategy from Sony and an initial price of 40 euros for a game whose biggest competitors are competitive, the game never managed to generate any kind of interest among the public. Resulting in a peak of 607 simultaneous players on Steam, although on PlayStation that number multiplied by ten or a hundred, the numbers show not a failure, but a catastrophe. A total lack of interest from the public.
What are the reasons for this lack of interest? The first one is the lack of personality of its characters. Despite the incredible production values of the game, with an estimated budget that exceeds 100 million dollars, the characters were uninspiring and uninteresting. They were very realistic, with a high polygon count, but their artistic design seemed like a poor copy of the characters from Guardians of the Galaxy. This made the audience feel a deep disinterest towards the game.
This was one of the first and probably the most serious of their problems. In video games, and particularly in games as a service, the most striking thing at first glance is their characters. If players don’t fall in love with them at first sight, it’s difficult for them to give them a second thought. And in the case of Concord, it was difficult for anyone to be interested in them, even though their production values were far superior to those of their rivals.
This led to another one of its main problems. It was a good game, but it didn’t have a particular hook. Something that made it appealing on its own. Without bringing any radically new mechanics to the table, what it offered was a very well polished version of the classic hero shooter mechanics. Something it did excellently, but it had a problem: to verify that, it is necessary for players to be interested in trying your game. Something difficult when neither your characters nor your mechanics have anything inherently appealing to make them interested in it. And being a game as a service, not being able to play the card of a deep narrative for that purpose either.
All these problems are exacerbated by another obvious one. Concord took about five years to develop. Around one hundred million dollars. Both in time and money, these are prohibitive figures that, even if it had worked well, would have made the game a failure. With those figures, Concord had to explode in popularity to be considered a success; it wasn’t enough for it to work, it had to be a success, which put it at a disadvantage from the beginning, making it very difficult to overcome.
Concord is an exciting new addition to the world of competitive first-person shooters (FPS), developed by a team of experienced veterans who previously worked on the immensely popular game Destiny.
If we add up all these factors, it seems evident that the story of Concord is that of a foretold death. Of course, it’s easy to say in hindsight. No one expected Helldivers 2 to be the success it has been. But Helldivers 2 has not cost neither the money nor the time that Concord has cost. Something that shows that Sony’s plan to switch to games as a service and prioritize them doesn’t seem to be a success.
Not when they have serious problems with Bungie. When Concord has been a failure. When their biggest success of the year is Astro Bot, a fiercely single-player game, with a moderate budget and a rational development time. And besides, it has the potential to become the game of the year.
Does this mean that Concord marks the end of games as a service? Far from it. For Asian studios, especially those in China and South Korea, things are going very well. It probably means a radical change of plans for Sony, who has discovered the cost of a failure of this magnitude. But one thing is clear: whether as a service or not, the future lies in shorter developments and games with a smaller budget. Games that can be released sooner and cost less to develop. Because if Concord has been a disaster, we don’t want to imagine what it will be like when a game with the budget and development of a Grand Theft Auto VI fails.
Sony has confirmed that Concord, its new multiplayer hero shooter, will not have battle passes or microtransactions, to everyone’s delight.
Concord, despite extending its beta, does not seem to have been a great success. It has not had a great impact on social networks or streaming services. Although without knowing the internal numbers, it is difficult to say anything for sure. Only Sony knows what has happened. This leaves us with even more doubts than answers about what we can expect from this game. Something they have decided to solve as soon as possible.
From Sony, on the official game’s Twitter, they have decided to answer some of the most common questions they have been asked about the game. In this way, they have wanted to clarify some of the aspects that generate more doubts among users. Being especially pressing, as it could not be otherwise, the fact of whether there will be microtransactions.
This is a relevant question because Concord, in fact, is not a free-to-play game. With a starting cost of 40 euros, it is a full-priced game. That’s why the question is relevant. Now its developer studio, Firewalk Studios, has confirmed that it will not. It will not have microtransactions or battle passes. We will be able to unlock different cosmetic items by playing the game, but again, they are just cosmetics. And they can only be acquired through gameplay itself.
Among the other confirmed details, it is known which will be the starting numbers for the game. With 12 different maps for the launch, including the 5 maps from the beta, it will be released with 16 playable characters, which will also include multiple unlockable variables. In addition, they have emphasized the fact that this will only be the beginning and that, as time goes on, they will be adding more maps, playable characters, and cosmetics to increase and improve the gaming experience for players.
Concord will be released on August 23rd for PC and PlayStation 5. This is a 5 vs. 5 combat hero shooter and the developers’ idea is to expand it over time. Even though it won’t have a solo mode at launch, the plan is to introduce it in the near future. So, if you’re interested, you know that Concord’s summer is less than a month away.

Normally we all associate summer with the beach, the sun, trips, joy, and first loves… but the truth is that most of the time, while all this is not happening, we simply spend time playing console video games. At Sony they are perfectly aware that this is the time for long games that you might not try otherwise, and in July they have added several games for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium that are worth mentioning. Let’s take a look.
This is the prequel to ‘Final Fantasy VII’ in HD version, with all the voices, a new soundtrack and the possibility to know what happened before the classic that we all know very well. Here we follow Zack Fair, who has become a regular in the franchise (the last time we saw him was actually in ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’). In its day, ‘Crisis Core’ was the most important release for PSP and it’s worth rescuing. You already have half of July solved.
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes Complete Edition
If you were looking for games with simple and short titles, this is not your month. But this version of ‘No More Heroes’ is equally essential, whether you have played the original or not. In this part, instead of having the usual perspective of the saga, you will play from a top-down view, in the style of ‘Hotline Miami’. It may feel strange at first, but you will quickly get the hang of shooting with Travis. In addition, it includes all the DLC and is essential to fully understand its next installment. Which, oh coincidence…
This month on PS Plus, they have gone all out, giving you hours of fun, blood, and shooting with the latest installment of the franchise, with a completely unhinged (in a good way) Suda51 and leaving the door open for the inevitable fourth part. And since you don’t want to be the one who doesn’t know absolutely anything in a few years, this is the moment to catch up. They have never made it easier for you, right?
Remnant II
It came out exactly a year ago and if you still haven’t gotten your hands on this third-person shooter with touches of RPG, this is your moment. Creatures that want to kill you all over the screen, terrifyingly huge gods, and you armed with all kinds of weapons. You decide. Enjoy it alone or in cooperative mode with up to two other friends. A word of warning: this is not an easy game, but it is very satisfying. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
Less known than the previous games but equally interesting is this prelude to ‘Mount & Blade’, a mix of strategy, action and RPG that in 2020 became the biggest success of the year on Steam. It’s ambitious, it’s beautiful, it hooks anyone and you would make a big mistake this summer if you overlook it. You’ll thank us later.
By the way! PS Plus Extra and Premium also add the following games: ‘The Jackbox Party Pack 9’, ‘Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous’, ‘Deadcraft’ and ‘Steep’, while exclusively in Premium you will find classics and PSVR2 games like ‘Job Simulator’, ‘Summoner’, ‘Ratchet & Clank Size Matters’ and ‘Jeanne D’Arc’. The summer is all yours. Take advantage of it with a controller in your hands!
Almost four years have passed since the arrival of PS5 and, although it still has an audience of 49 million people, it is time for Sony to finally abandon PS4 once and for all. In fact, LEGO Horizon Adventures will be the last game they release for their already outdated console, putting an end to it 11 years after its birth. Oh, cruel fate. O tempora! O moris!
To be honest, it was expected: since God of War Ragnarok there hasn’t been a high-level game for the console, and AAA games have remained as exclusives for the next-gen. It makes sense, of course. The PS4 version of Lost Soul has been canceled and this confirms the complete transition to the fifth generation. Does this mean that we won’t see new games anymore and you have to upgrade no matter what? It depends.
Yes, Sony already believes that it’s time for you to buy a PS5, but the truth is that third parties will still milk the cow until it stops being profitable, so you can expect new games in the style of FIFA (or whatever it’s called now, EA FC Sports), NBA 2K or Call of Duty, which never fail to deliver annually and are easy to port.
Frankly, and although it may hurt PS4 owners… It was about time if they wanted to grow their customer base, which had been a bit stagnant. And it’s normal: along the way we had the Covid era and the subsequent recovery. But it’s time to evolve, even if it means incurring losses at first. We have thousands of incredible games to remember on a console that will be remembered. PS4 is dead. Long live PS4!
Aunque el regreso de Tombi! es algo que celebramos, lo que realmente esperábamos era el anuncio de Tombi! 2, algo que acaba de ocurrir.
One of the biggest announcements from the past E3 is the return of Tombi. To be exact, the big news is the date when we will be able to enjoy Tombi’s return, because we already knew that it was likely to come back with what appears to be an excellent remake. But let’s not fool ourselves. As great as the first game of the franchise was, what we were all really waiting for was something else: the announcement of the beloved and long-awaited second part. And fortunately, we haven’t had to wait long.
Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return, known originally in Spain as Tombi! 2: Against the Pigdevils, will be developed by Whoopee Camp for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, as announced on June 20th by Limited Run Games. It’ll have a physical edition, by the same company, with a reservation date yet to be announced.
Tombi! 2: Against the Pigdevils was originally released on June 16, 2000, in Europe and became a sensation, turning into one of the best platform games for the first PlayStation. Remembered with immense affection by those who played it at the time, this is great news that will make many people very happy. Including us.
Meanwhile, Tomba! Special Edition will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 1st. It will also be released on PlayStation 4, but the date is still to be confirmed.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was one of the great successes of 2023. A critical and commercial success, it is undeniable that it was a sequel worthy of its excellent predecessor, putting Insomniac Games in the place they deserve—as one of the best studios under the Sony umbrella. To prove it, they have decided in their next patch to add a little extra care. Something totally unexpected.
The next patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is 1.003.000 and while it doesn’t have major gameplay changes, it will add a lot of content. This patch, which will be released on June 18th, will include eight new suits for our favorite superhero. Four were designed from scratch and four were inspired by his adventures in comics and movies.
The most interesting thing about their new suits is that they haven’t been created by just anyone. Insomniac’s artists haven’t created them. They haven’t even called on other artists to give their vision of the character. They have called on famous cultural figures to design these suits, to provide the character with a distinctive touch.
The fashion designer KidSuper has created the Metro Suit, which gives a more urban and contemporary style. Also from KidSuper, in collaboration with football player Vini Jr., we have the Ginga Suit, a suit inspired by the colors of the Brazilian flag and his passion for football. Along with motorcyclist Lando Norris, KidSuper has created the Fluro Suit, a suit inspired by motorcycling where they emphasize fluorescent colors and the contrast of lines. Together with actress, model, and singer Rina Sawayama, they have designed the Motorchic Suit, a suit where they have emphasized leather to give it a more feminine biker look.
Among the suits that have become iconic, we find some well-known ones. The Last Stand Suit is Spider-Man’s jacket and pants suit, not really a suit in itself, from when he had not fully adopted his character yet. Into The Spider-Verse is the suit from the movie of the same name worn by Peter B. Parker, and Animated Suit is the one worn by Miles Morales. Meanwhile, Uptown Pride Suit is Miles Morales’ suit from Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales that returns for the occasion.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available for PlayStation 5 and, with all these suits, it’s a good time to return to the game. Or to get it if you haven’t played this great sequel of our beloved arachnid superhero yet.
