Fortune’s Run is an upcoming video game that has caught the attention of fans due to its similarities with renowned titles like Thief and Deus Ex. However, the progress of this project was interrupted for over a year due to legal difficulties faced by its developer, known as Dizzie. In an unexpected turn of events, Dizzie was sentenced to three years in prison, an event that significantly impacted the development of the game during that period.

An important vital gap

Recently, Dizzie has regained his freedom and resumed work on Fortune’s Run. However, the situation remains complicated, as he is currently in a halfway house and under pressure to meet development deadlines. Despite these obstacles, Dizzie has expressed his intention to make significant progress on the project, hoping to launch a demo in six months and an official version of the game in about a year.

During his time in prison, Dizzie was not inactive; he dedicated himself to writing a roguelike in C++ on paper, demonstrating his ongoing passion and creativity in video game development despite adverse circumstances. In a statement shared on Steam, he expressed his desire to complete some key levels of the story and improve the existing content before reaching a full commercial version of the game.

Ted Litchfield from PC Gamer has covered Fortune’s Run on several occasions, describing it as “the Jedi Knight 4 we never had.” With gameplay mechanics that evoke the essence of immersive titles, Fortune’s Run presents itself as an experience that combines fast action and smart level design, offering players the opportunity to tackle challenges in various ways.

Starhelm Studios has revealed a new project that is generating excitement in the gaming community: Project Shadowglass. This video game in development is inspired by the acclaimed Thief: The Dark Project, and aims to combine stealth elements with a distinctive graphic style that merges nostalgia with 3D technology. Although the game is still in an early stage of development and does not have a defined release date, a demo is expected later this year.

A deep and colorful game

In the trailer recently presented at the Future Games Show, there are clear references to the mechanics and scenarios that made Thief famous, such as sneaking in the dark, interacting with guards, and using various stealth tools. Shadowglass promises to offer a richly detailed environment, where players can plan their missions during the day and explore a medieval city, while the action intensifies at night, with elements like the use of water arrows and explosive barrels.

Additionally, the game will include a reputation system that will affect how citizens and guards interact with the protagonist. The actions taken in the game will have long-term consequences, adding an additional level of strategy and depth. According to the available information, the character will face repercussions if caught, such as being imprisoned, and the citizens may come to fear him, fleeing upon seeing him.

With a unique approach to stealth narratives and a clear homage to its predecessor, Project Shadowglass aims to attract both Thief fans and new audiences. With development underway and the promise of a demo, genre enthusiasts will be keeping an eye on future updates from Starhelm Studios.

In a matter of days, Project Shadowglass has evolved from a simple visual experiment to one of the most anticipated indie titles on Steam. This proposal from Starhelm Studios combines classic pixel art with modern three-dimensional environments, capturing the attention of the gaming community and Swen Vincke himself, director of Baldur’s Gate 3.

A true visual treat

The project has reached nearly 60,000 additions to wish lists in less than a week, an uncommon phenomenon for a game still in early development. It all started with a viral video on Twitter, showcasing a 3D fantasy world, illuminated with detail and pixelated textures from a first-person perspective. Although many associated this visual style with generative artificial intelligence, Starhelm Studios has emphasized that “everything you see is 100% real and runs in real-time on the engine,” ensuring that there is no AI-generated art.

Vincke’s support, who shared his enthusiasm on social media with the message: “I didn’t see it coming, but I love how it looks! Good luck!”, has increased interest in the title. In terms of gameplay, Project Shadowglass promises to recapture the essence of classics like System Shock, Thief, and Deus Ex, allowing players to take on the role of a thief who must infiltrate realms to steal valuable artifacts, using stealth as their main tool.

Still without a defined release date, a playable demo is planned for early 2026 and early access for 2027. With the leadership of Dom the Space Bard, Project Shadowglass promises to be a celebration of handcrafted creativity in an era dominated by automation.

The world of virtual reality video games is about to experience a significant innovation with the announcement of Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow. Although the idea of immersive simulators has been limited in the realm of VR, this new game aims to fill that gap by offering classic experiences from the Thief series, such as stealth and exploration, in a completely immersive environment.

A technology that favors unique approaches

According to Eugenio Aguilar Oriani, publication producer at Vertigo Games, “VR is a natural fit for an immersive simulator, as it allows players to physically interact with the world.” Players will be able to crouch, hide, and move in the shadows to avoid detection, as well as use their own hands to steal objects and solve puzzles in a richly detailed environment.

One of the highlights is the mechanics of lockpicking, specifically designed for VR controls. Players will use both hands to manipulate the pins of a lock with haptic feedback, adding an extra level of immersion. However, some critics have expressed their dissatisfaction with elements like the string arrows, which appear with specific anchor points, limiting players’ creativity.

The story of Thief VR is set approximately 200 years after Thief: Deadly Shadows and before the 2014 reboot, creating a bridge between different periods of the series. The new protagonist, Magpie, will start as a common thief, but his journey will lead him to become a master thief, a trajectory that reflects the growth of characters in previous installments.

Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow will be released this year and will be available on Steam, promising to maintain the essence of the series while introducing new dynamics for players, both veterans and newcomers to the Thief universe.

The world of indie video games has received a significant new addition with the release of Lunacid: Tears of the Moon, a sequel to the acclaimed game Lunacid developed by Kira LLC. This new installment is set thousands of years before the narrative of the original game and has been created using Sword of Moonlight, a game creation tool inspired by FromSoftware’s King’s Field series. This not only provides a nostalgic touch but also allows players to explore a landscape full of secrets and surprises.

A game with the best possible price: free

Tears of the Moon is completely free on Steam, making it an accessible option for those seeking enriching gaming experiences. However, the game’s soundtrack is available for an additional cost of four dollars. The title features simplified combat mechanics, with no blocking or parrying, which favors gameplay that is more focused on exploration than on extreme difficulty. Additionally, players will not have to worry about character building issues, as stats automatically increase when leveling up.

Despite some technical inconveniences, such as limited keyboard controls and issues with driver support, early players have praised its immersive atmosphere and the sense of discovery reminiscent of classics like Thief and The Legend of Zelda. Although the game lacks a conventional tutorial, a PDF manual is provided to guide new adventurers in this vast underground world.

The nostalgia and simplicity of Tears of the Moon have been well received by critics and players, who highlight its isolating quality and its design that invites experimentation. Undoubtedly, this title stands out as one of the most pleasant surprises of the year in the realm of indie RPGs.

Bungie has officially announced an exciting gameplay reveal for its upcoming project, Marathon, scheduled for April 12 at 10 am PDT. This title represents a reboot of the company’s classic FPS and is presented as an extraction multiplayer shooter, where players will compete for loot that they will lose if they do not successfully extract it.

An extraction shooter from which we still need to receive more information

Set on the enigmatic planet Tau Ceti IV, Marathon will have players take on the role of Runners, cybernetic mercenaries designed to survive in hostile environments. As they explore the ruins of an ancient colony, players will seek valuable items, including new weapons and gear, while facing off against each other in intense PvP battles.

Information about Marathon has been quite limited so far, which has generated growing anticipation among fans. Along with the announcement of the reveal, the existence of characters with the codenames Thief and Stealth has also been confirmed, although more details about their roles and abilities in the game are unknown.

The reveal will be broadcast on Marathon’s official channel on Twitch and will also have a dedicated page on Steam, where players can get more information after the presentation. Although it has been announced that impressions of the game will be shared after the event, it is unclear whether journalists will have direct access to cover it, as some sources suggest that not all media are invited to participate in the coverage.

With the announcement of this event and the use of an intriguing ARG and a trailer that has caused a stir, the anticipation for Marathon only grows. Bungie fans, as well as new players, will be paying close attention to all the details revealed in this highly anticipated presentation.
