Funniest subreddits you should subscribe to

Reddit can be a bit overwhelming at the start. Where do you begin?

When you set up a Reddit account, your feed will be populated from “subreddits” – those are groups you subscribe to. The more subreddits you add, the more diverse your feed will be. If you like to laugh, you might default to a subscription to r/funny, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here are some subreddits to add to your feed to keep you laughing every day.

r/Unexpected

In this subreddit, they celebrate things you could never predict, usually in the form of gifs. Whenever you see a trending post from this subreddit, you know you’re in for a treat.

A wedding to remember from r/Unexpected

Smashing a walnut with bare hand from r/Unexpected

r/Cringe

Whether it’s a lack of awareness, a slip of the tongue, or a blatant screw-up, we all find ourselves in cringe-worthy moments from time to time. The r/Cringe subreddit celebrates those momentary brain freezes, usually immortalized on video. Remember Miss South Carolina’s genius answer at a beauty pageant?

Here’s another great post, showing how rock n’ roll legend Chuck Berry reacts when Yoko Ono starts screaming like a wounded bird in the middle of a performance:

Yep. We cringed, too.

r/FloridaMan

For some reason, we get a ton of headlines involving a “Florida Man.” And whenever you see a headline with “Florida Man” in it, you know things are going to be insaaaaaaane. This group highlights the headlines you need to know. Here’s a taste:

Yes, Florida Man is someone you need to keep your eye on.

r/BadMovies

While this subreddit requires a little bit of extra work (watching the recommended movies),  it’s a great place to discover hilariously bad films. Can’t get enough of trashy-weird flicks like “The Room,” “Birdemic: Shock and Terror,” or “Teen Witch”?   This is the place to celebrate earnest/terrible movies.

It’s also a great place to follow the career of Neil Breen. And if you’ve never seen a Neil Breen movie, buckle up:

r/DisneyVacation

This oddly named subreddit has nothing to do with Disney. Every post is an image from WikiHow, hilariously recaptioned as something very different. For example:

How to Start a Conversation With a Tall Person from r/disneyvacation

How to Embarrass a Horse at a Sleepover from r/disneyvacation

How to transmit WiFi signals using your mouth from r/disneyvacation

r/F***YouInParticular

You may need to pardon the harsh language, but this forum is a worthy addition to your feed. Sometimes, bad luck seems to seek out one particular person. And the result is something that looks like a targeted attack. This hilarious subreddit captures those moments of very poor fortune:

Sprinkler misfortune

California misfortune

Now heres an old one from r/FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

r/ThereWasAnAttempt

Sometimes, we set our sights a bit too high. This subreddit shows the result of attempts gone wrong.

For example, “There was an attempt…” to shame a man for his hobby:

train hobby

Or “There was an attempt…”

to type from r/therewasanattempt

r/WatchPeopleDieInside

We’ve all had those moments when our hopes go up in flames. Here’s your source to watch your fellow humans (and sometimes animals) experience the whiplash of sudden sadness.

Help me… from r/WatchPeopleDieInside

Invisible magic trick from r/WatchPeopleDieInside

r/Instant_Regret

You know that feeling when the pizza box you placed on the counter falls off and wrecks your dinner? This is where you go to see moments of sad, hilarious realization.

I thought throwing my phone above me would make a cool slow mo trampoline video but as soon as I saw where it was going to land I regretted the whole idea. from r/instant_regret

The snow looks so soft from r/instant_regret

r/BlackPeopleTwitter

The title is fairly self-explanatory. This is the subreddit for the greatest wisdom black people are offering up on Twitter.

r/BossFight

When you’re playing a video game, you’ll often encounter a “boss fight,” where you need to defeat the hardest enemy of a level. In this subreddit, people share images of people and animals who could conceivably be the “boss” of a particular real-world situation.

Chad Champion, Collector of Bonuses from r/Bossfight

Boss baby, Alexa’s chosen from r/Bossfight

Baby Arm and his side kick The Slap Master from r/Bossfight

r/S***yRobots

It’s 2019, so we’re supposed to have fantastic robots who make our lives easier. But many robots just plain suck. Join this subreddit to see robots being terrible at their jobs.

How to properly ask out the Queen of Shitty Robots. from r/shittyrobots

Eating while you work from r/shittyrobots

Shitty helperbot from r/shittyrobots

r/CrappyMusic

A close cousin to r/BadMovies, the Crappy Music subreddit shares music that would be better off never being heard again. For example:

Or this gem from the same people behind Rebecca Black’s “Friday.”

Or this rock band composed of your rapidly deteriorating uncles:

r/HangOnAMinute

Some jokes take a minute to sink in. This is a home for those clever twists.

Christmas disasterAmazon joke

r/DiWHY

Sure, we all think we’re handy. But sometimes, our attempts at DIY end up failing horribly. This subreddit commemorates those moments when someone got in way, way over their head… or simply made something that didn’t need to be made.

My mom tried to make a cane for my dad from r/DiWHY

Just go ahead and chop your hair off in a random place, so you can make a brush that is probably much worse than any cheap makeup brush you can find at the drug store from r/DiWHY

r/NoNoNoNoYes

Will these situations end badly? It definitely seems like it… until a last-moment save. You’ve got to see these to believe them.

Penguin Indiana Jones from r/nonononoyes

Oh no, there’s going to be a fight! from r/nonononoyes

That walk off from r/nonononoyes

r/Player Two

In these hysterical video clips, a situation appears to be trending one way until “Player Two” joins in sudden and dramatic fashion. You (and they) never see it coming.

Canoe mayhem (xpost from Holdmybeer) from r/PlayerTwo

Player 3 turns the tables from r/PlayerTwo

How to watch streaming TV for free

Are you still paying for cable TV? If so, how are your grandchildren? Wow, they grow so quickly.

Seriously, you need to cut the cord. Cable TV is needlessly expensive and you always end up with tons of channels you never watch.  We highly recommend dropping ye olde cable box into the nearest ocean and switching to streaming TV.

After exhaustive research, our favorite streaming TV service is PlayStation Vue. You don’t need a PlayStation to watch it. You can pull it up on your desktop or your tablet or your smart TV. Apple TV? Yep. Roku? Yes. Google Chromecast and Fire TV? Yes and yes.

Pull up PS Vue on your work computer during a boring meeting. Watch it on the train on your way to work. Use it in your hotel room instead of being stuck with their four channels.

What’s available on PlayStation Vue?

Just about every channel. In most markets, you can watch your local CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX affiliates. (If not, an over-the-air antenna will solve that problem.) You can also get nearly every major cable channel: HBO, Showtime, CNN, E!, TBS, TNT, and USA.

PS Vue is a winner for sports, too. ESPN, FS1, and NFL Network are available. And NFL Red Zone is a life-changing experience on Sundays if you’ve never tried it. The MLB and NBA networks are also available. Want to go nuts? You can add on a Sports Pack that includes: MLB Network Strike Zone, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Bases Loaded, ESPN Classic, FOX College Sports Atlantic, FOX College Sports Central, FOX College Sports Pacific, Longhorn Network, NESN, Eleven Sports, Outside TV, and seven regional NBC Sports networks.

Is there a DVR?

Yes. A cloud-based DVR allows you to hold infinite shows for 28 days. You’ll also have access to on-demand channels, and you can use your PS Vue logon to sign into specific channel apps like HBO NOW.

Any downsides?

Yes, but they’re minor. First, you’re going to need an internet connection, so you still may need to pay those weasels at your cable company.

There are also some major channels missing from the lineup. That means no MTV, Comedy Central, A&E, VH1, or Nickelodeon. Though to be honest, those shows are about 20 years past their prime. You won’t miss them.

Get it free

Right now, Groupon is offering a free 14-day trial of PlayStation Vue. Click here to sign up. (Normally, PS Vue only offers a 5-day trial.) And be sure to add the app to your tablet and phone. Download it here:

The 10 best movies to watch on Netflix in August

Don’t just sit back and wait for Netflix to tell you what to watch. There are some incredible gems hiding in the catalog that won’t necessarily pop up on your home screen. Add these 10 great flicks to your queue and close out your summer in style!

Ex Machina

Artificial Intelligence is coming for us, whether we like it or not. But what if that AI was housed in a gorgeous female body? And what if we fell in love with it? And what if everything went so, so, so wrong? “Ex Machina” is a quiet, impressive, thoughtful sci-fi film that features Alicia Vikander, Domhnall Gleeson, and, in a weird and amazing scene, Oscar Isaac’s incredible dance moves.

Clerks

Before we had Netflix, we’d have to go to the video store and browse DVD or VHS covers for a few hours until we found just the right movie. We didn’t have Twitter or Facebook, so we’d have to pin down our friends to vent. Looking back at this 1994 indie classic (made for an insane $27,575), you get a glimpse at that world before the internet changed everything. This was also one of the first films to shine a light on the trend of underemployment. Sure we could be CEOs and lawyers and doctors, but that seems like a lot of work. Maybe it’s easier to stand behind a counter for a decade or so, commenting on the world but not participating in it.

Although Kevin Smith has since devolved into a bizarre self-parody, he had a brief moment in the late 90s when he actually had something to say. “Clerks” is far from perfect. The scenes are uniformly static, the acting is dodgy, and some of the content doesn’t hold up. But it captured the frustration and desperation of a generation staring down the barrel of a shrinking middle class. And it’s also pretty funny. If this film were made today, it would just be a web series. But in 1994, you could make something like this, get scooped up at Sundance, and start a film career.

Million Dollar Baby

Winner of four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, “Million Dollar Baby” is a boxing movie for people who hate boxing movies. Take the hustle and determination of Rocky, throw in a pair of grizzled old trainers, and add a wallop of a plot twist and you’ve got yourself a great film. Hillary Swank picked up her second Best Actress Oscar for her role as the gritty boxer Maggie Fitgerald. Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman are her trainers, looking to exorcize old demons by fostering a new champion. This isn’t just another movie about a boxer who defies the odds to win a title. It’s a careful character study about people under pressure. This movie will stay with you for a long, long time.

No Country for Old Men

It’s another movie that cleaned up at the Oscars, pulling four statues back in 2007. And 2007 was a packed year for great movies. “No Country for Old Men” feels like a genre mix-up of a western, a heist movie, a horror movie, and a cop-on-his-last-day-on-the-beat movie. When you watch this through, your instinct will be to follow Josh Brolin’s character as the hero. But that’s a mistake. This movie is about Tommy Lee Jones’ character. Like most Coen Brothers movies, this one rewards additional viewings, so even if you’ve seen it before, it’s worth another go. And can we talk about how freakin’ creepy Javier Bardem’s Anton Chigurh is? Add this to your queue today, friend-o.

The Godfather & The Godfather Part II

You’ve spent your whole life hearing how good these movies are. Have you ever actually watched them? Because they are every bit as good as the hype. The movie begins with the words, “I believe in America.” And everything you see after that shows that these characters believe in a very specific kind of America – the kind where enough money and muscle can rewrite the rules, if only for a time. These are movies about the American myth, the rules we follow and break, the price of loyalty and the agony of betrayal, and the terrible costs we pay to make our dreams come true.

The cast could not be better. Over these two films, you’ll see Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, John Cazale, Talia Shire, and Robert De Niro. You can watch these movies over and over again, finding something new each time. Try watching it through while focusing only on Fredo. Or Kay. Or Tom Hagen. Every character feels rich and textured and worn. Everyone has baggage and triggers. Everyone screws up and pays for it. Watch “The Godfather” on Saturday night. Watch “The Godfather Part II” on Sunday night. Go to work on Monday as a changed person.

Heat

Sure, De Niro and Pacino were in “The Godfather Part II” together, but they never shared the screen at the same time until this fantastic 1995 crime thriller. Have you ever been crushing it at the casino, but instead of walking away with your winnings, you keep playing until your wallet is empty? The same thing happens in “Heat.” De Niro leads a crew of bank robbers (including an excellent Val Kilmer) as they rack up scores in Los Angeles. Pacino is the detective trying to track them down. Will De Niro’s crew retire in time? Or will they stick around for one too many jobs? You already know the answer to that. The beauty of “Heat” is watching very smart characters being seduced by some very bad decisions. Martin Scorsese selected this as one of the ten best movies of the 1990s. I mean, come on. Watch this tonight.

The Stanford Prison Experiment

Based on a true story, “The Stanford Prison Experiment” tells the story of a handful of random college students selected to prove a point. Half were made “guards” and half were made “inmates.” The idea was to see if students role-playing a prison scenario would manifest some of the problems that occur in real prisons. And boy, do they ever. If you ever wanted to know how something like Abu Ghraib could happen, this is how. The study has since come under a lot of scrutiny, but it asks an important question: If your job was to subjugate your fellow humans, how far would you go? This dramatization is well acted by Billy Crudup and a solid team of young actors. Add it to your queue when you’re ready for a psychological thrill ride.

Her

Joaquin Phoenix’s Theodore Twombly is lonely. Thankfully, he lives in the future where there’s an AI personal assistant to scratch that itch. As we become less and less connected to actual humans, we end up filling that need with technology. It’s not hard to imagine that Siri could soon try to take the place of our significant others. “Her” is the rare sci-fi film that asks us to examine our lives in the present. It’s silly and sweet and thought-provoking. If you’ve ever spent a day staring at your phone and never speaking with an actual human, you need to watch this movie. Because this science fiction will very shortly become science fact. (Except for the high-waisted pants. We hope that never happens.)

Moon

Do not Google anything about “Moon.” The less you know, the more you’ll enjoy it. Here’s what we’ll tell you:

Sam Rockwell plays Sam Bell, a guy stuck all alone on the moon because of a mining mission. It’s pretty lonely on the moon. His only companionship is a robot companion named GERTY. Sam occasionally gets recorded messages from his wife on Earth. As you might imagine, Sam is pretty excited to wrap up his job and go home. And then… something happens.

Don’t Google it! Hey! We see you. Back away from the Googles.

“Moon” is a haunting and beautiful film. Rockwell has never been better (sorry, “Three Billboards”). Even if you’re not a sci-fi fan, you’ll be able to appreciate the drama of a man cut off from the people and the place he loves. It’s kind of like “Cast Away” in space. This is one of those movies that everyone bugs you to see, and once you see it, you become one of those people who bugs everyone else to see it. It’s that good.

You know what? We’re not even going to show you the trailer because the trailer reveals too much. Here’s a picture of Sam Rockwell. That’s all we’re giving you. Go watch “Moon.”

Quiz Show

1994 might have been the best year ever for movies. “The Shawshank Redemption” and “Pulp Fiction” opened on the exact same day. “Forrest Gump.” “Speed.” “True Lies.” “The Lion King.” Jim Carrey’s big splashes with “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” and “Dumb and Dumber.” “Clear and Present Danger.” “Ed Wood.” “Stargate.” “Leon: The Professional.” As cinematic years go, 1994 had something for everyone. With such amazing films vying for our attention, it’s no wonder that everyone forgets about “Quiz Show.”

Based on a true story, Rober Redford’s “Quiz Show” takes us back to 1958, when America loved flipping on their brand new TVs to watch a trivia show called “Twenty-One.” The questions were absurdly hard. But a guy named Herb Stempel (John Turturro) was on a multi-show winning streak. Enter handsome Charles Van Doren (Ralph Fiennes), the son of a prominent academic family. The show’s producers see a star in the making, so they convince Charles to come on the show. But to get Charles to become the champion, they need to get Herb out of the way. How do you force a champion trivia nerd to lose?

What happened next became a national scandal. Rob Morrow and his dodgy Boston accent swoop in to investigate. The drama that unfolds shows us the perils of good men who make bad decisions. It’s tense. It’s funny. It’s joyful. It’s thought-provoking. “Quiz Show” stands the test of time, even if those other gems from 24 years ago shine more brightly on the IMDB charts.

The 10 best movies to watch on HBO streaming apps in August

Looking to kick back with some movies to close out your summer? These are our picks for the best streaming options on HBO GO and HBO NOW for this August.

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (2005)

If you love Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, you’ll be just as entertained by this topsy-turvy comedy crime story. With whip-smart dialogue, a clever plot, and plenty of surprises, “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang” does something most modern movies can’t: It forces you to put down your phone and enjoy. Val Kilmer and Michelle Monaghan do great work as supporting players. The criminally underseen movie joins HBO Go and HBO NOW August 1.

Fargo (1996)

Frances McDormand’s other Oscar-winning role (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”) arrives on HBO streaming services August 1, but you’ll have more fun with this 1996 Coen Brothers classic. The film follows a police officer trying to learn why so many people are turning up dead in her small Minnesota town.

“Fargo” is funny and tragic and unexpected and heartfelt. Siskel & Ebert declared it the best movie of 1996. William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi have never been better. It’s the kind of movie you can watch every year and find something new to enjoy. “Fargo” is cinematic perfection.

War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)

Whether or not you’ve gotten on board with the new “Planet of the Apes” trilogy, it’s not that hard to jump in. Long story, short: A virus made apes really smart and started wiping out humans. The humans aren’t terribly happy about that, so they fight back.

This movie features two surprising performances: Woody Harrelson plays a military leader clinging to the last remnants of humanity and Andy Serkis provides another motion capture gem as Caesar, the leader of the apes. Seriously, the CGI in this film will blow you away. (Your internal dialogue during this film: “Am I looking at a CGI monkey? And why am I crying about a CGI monkey?”)

We don’t want to give too much away, but the plot twists in this movie are poetic and bold. Given today’s political climate, there’s also something stirring about seeing characters trapped in cages while others are targeting them just for who they are. This film is better than most action/sci-fi movies have a right to be.

Tremors (1990)

Imagine if “Jaws” was underground. That’s “Tremors.” Granted, “Tremors” doesn’t have the character development that “Jaws” does, but it is far better than it has any right to be.

Giant man-eating worms are swallowing up the residents of a small town, and it’s up to Kevin Bacon and his pals to find out how to survive. The script is nearly airtight: every action leads to a new problem, which leads to a new solution, which leads to a new problem. There’s not a wasted moment. And yes, it’s a stupid B-movie, but it’s a GREAT stupid B-movie. And when you see the dad from “Family Ties” and Reba McIntyre unloading thousands of rounds of ammunition into a man-eating worm thing, you will be surprised how gratifying that feels.

American Splendor (2003)

Sick of comic book movies? Try a comic book movie! Seriously. “American Splendor” is a movie about real-life artist Harvey Pekar, who writes a comic book about the frustrations of everyday life. The movie features the real Pekar, along with Paul Giamatti playing Pekar. This movie scored 90 on Metacritic because it features an amazing tonal balancing act. You’ll laugh at the absurdity of the situations, then find yourself rooting for this broken weirdo who simultaneously scoffs at life while wanting so badly to belong. This is a special movie, and one you won’t forget.

Being John Malkovich (1999)

This weird and wonderful masterpiece comes from two of the greatest cinematic minds alive: Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman. It’s pointless to explain the plot, except to say that this movie is all about longing: the desire to be someone else, dating someone else, living somewhere else. If you could escape your life to become another person, would you still be you? And if someone loved the new you, do they really love you? Or is it all an illusion? With incredible, funny performances from John Cusack, Cameron Diaz, Catherine Keener, and (of course) Malkovich himself, you are in for a magnificent ride. We wish we could scrub our brains clean and watch this again for the first time. By the time you get to the last lines of dialogue (“Look away… look away…”), you’ll feel like a new person, too.

Get Out

One of the most important movies of 2017 is a must-watch if you haven’t seen it already. And it’s worth another watch even if you have. Jordan Peele asks us to consider modern race relations with a “Twilight Zone”-level twist. As the Oscar Winner for Best Original Screenplay, you know you’re in for a treat. “Get Out” is a horror movie and a comedy and a social commentary all wrapped up into one. And it follows the most important rule of all drama: Unleash hell on your protagonist. The more Daniel Kaluuya’s Chris gets tangled up in this nightmare, the more we want him to fight back. This movie is an incredible, unique treat.

Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind (2018)

Oh, Robin Williams. We miss you, man. This documentary tracks his life with some wonderful interviews with friends and family. Billy Crystal shares some answering machine recordings from the late comedian, Pam Dawber remembers their early days on “Mork & Mindy,” and Williams’ son shares memories of his famous father. This movie could have been three times as long and it would still be riveting. We lost something special in 2014. This movie helps us remember a bright light.

Shattered Glass

Let’s talk about Hayden Christensen. Sure, you might laugh that we’re recommending a movie starring Mannequin Skywalker, but we swear, this one is really good! Christensen stars as real-life reporter Stephen Glass, who has an uncanny knack for uncovering amazing stories. It seems too good to be true. And it is. Glass made everything up. In an era of “fake news,” this movie couldn’t be more timely. You’ll marvel as Glass’ coworkers fall in love with his crazy articles and you’ll cringe as Glass tries to cover for himself as he cements his awful legacy. This surprisingly solid film shows the power of truth and the lure of lies. It’s smart and unflinching. And yes, Hayden Christensen is really damn good.

Andre the Giant (2018)

This documentary about the human marvel is already the most-watched documentary in HBO Sports history with nearly 7 million viewers. The film does a great job balancing the fun, the fame, the fear, and the frailty of this wrestling legend. Even if you’re not a fan of pro wrestling, you’ll still appreciate the story of a man born too big for the world, making a living in one of the few places where his liability was an asset. A great documentary helps you walk a mile in another person’s shoes, even if those shoes could fit a small village. This film manages to pull that off.

Star Wars IX: Carrie Fisher returning as General Leia

“Star Wars” fans everywhere were crushed when Carrie Fisher died in 2016. Imagine our surprise, then, when Lucasfilm announced their cast for Episode IX and it included everybody’s favorite princess-turned-general. Yes, Leia Organa will be back in action when the “Star Wars” saga returns.

But how?

According to Episode IX director J.J. Abrams, you’re going to get the real Carrie Fisher. “We were never going to recast, or use a CG character,” Abrams said. “With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”

That’s a relief, since the last time we saw a CG Leia, it didn’t exactly go well.

Welcome to the uncanny valley

The “Star Wars” franchise painted itself into a corner with its legends. In “The Force Awakens,” Han Solo was killed. In “The Last Jedi,” Luke died. So Leia was the last of the Big 3 whose story hadn’t concluded. Presumably, Fisher’s death blew up whatever was planned for the series finale.

To recap, the last time we saw Leia, she was flying away from Crait with the remnants of the Resistance after Luke’s sacrifice allowed them to escape. A disheartened Rey asks Leia, “How do we build a Rebellion from this?” Leia holds her hand and says, “We have everything we need.”

Given that Episode VII was about Ben Solo’s relationship with this father (Han), and Episode VIII was about his relationship with his Uncle Luke, it stands to reason that Episode IX was supposed to be about his relationship with his mother. Do they really have enough unreleased footage to tie up that loose end? Will they kill off Leia’s character? Given that Leia’s frozen corpse literally came back to life and flew through space after her ship was attacked, it’s hard to imagine a plausible death by conventional lasers or whatnot.

In any case, today’s cast announcement also confirms the rumor that Billy Dee Williams will return as Lando Calrissian. Will he end up with Chewie and the Falcon after all is said and done?

And there was another surprise: Mark Hamill will be back. Fans likely guessed that Luke’s Force ghost would reappear to guide Rey (or haunt Ben), and this announcement pretty much seals the deal.

Lucasfilm confirms that the returning cast includes Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd.

The final film in the “Star Wars” saga will also feature newcomers Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. Filming begins August 1, 2018. The final chapter will blast its way into theaters on December 20, 2019.

Baseball breakthrough: Use your iPhone to order a beer to your seat

It’s not officially summer until you’ve kicked back at a baseball game. And it’s not officially a baseball game until the beer guy comes along to sell you an admittedly overpriced (but refreshing) cold one. But have you ever needed the beer guy and he’s AWOL? Where does he go? Doesn’t he know it’s 97 degrees and you’re sweating and your team forgot how to hit and you need something to drown your sorrows?

A new pilot program will allow some lucky fans to use their iPhones to order a beer directly to their seat. Don’t get too excited just yet. The trial is limited to 10 games at the Phillies’ ballpark and only in specific sections. But the potential is exciting.

This video describes how it works:

Just pull out your iPhone (sorry, Android users) and scan a QR code on the seat back in front of you. That opens a chatbot and you can see a menu of your options. Then order and pay with Apple Pay. Eventually, the beer guy will find you and deliver the suds (or water).

The program runs July 20-25 and August 2-5 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. And you’ve got to be sitting in section 142, 143, 144, or 145.

The program makes use of something called Apple Business Chat, and if the pilot succeeds, we might see this technology rolling out across the MLB and beyond!

New emojis coming to iOS: gingers, bald heads, and new animals

If you’re Michael Jordan or Bryce Dallas Howard, it’s time to party! Emojis that look more like you are on the way! Bald characters and gingers join more than 70 new emojis coming to iOS devices later this year in a free software update.

Red hair, curly hair, and gray hair are some of the new emojis on the way. And bald heads are included, so Vin Diesel and The Rock no longer have to use the old bald grandpa with the mustache to represent themselves.

How to ask for a movie or TV show to be added to Netflix

Good news, folks. You can ask Netflix to add titles to their library. Here’s how.

It’s Saturday night and you open Netflix, looking for something to watch. You scroll and scroll and scroll and nothing seems right. “Man, I wish they had [NAME OF YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE],” you say. “Because I could totally go for some [NAME OF YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE].”

Good news, folks. You can ask Netflix to add titles to their library. Just click here.

And apparently, Netflix thinks everyone knows about this.

…but nobody knew about this…

You can request virtually anything, but that’s no guarantee Netflix will add the title. Content companies are becoming pretty territorial. As Disney just gobbled up Fox, you can bet they’re going to build their own Netflix rival, so they won’t lend out more titles beyond their current content agreement. And that also means you can ask for the “Toy Story” trilogy all you want, but Buzz and Woody will stay locked safely in Disney’s toybox.

As news of the request page spread, some folks got creative, like Reddit user Teaspoonsareforsoup:

Considering how Netflix has saved other shows from oblivion, there’s always hope.

If you manage to get Netflix to add one of your suggestions, let us know!

Slack goes down, chaos ensues

No, it wasn’t just you. This morning (June 27), Slack went down for about three hours. Slack reports the outage is over, so you can stop forming tribes, barricading your office door, and forging weapons from office supplies to defend against… whatever the hell a post-Slack world looks like.

For those of us who depend on Slack for easy, instant communication, the temporary outage felt like being thrown into the pre-internet dark ages. Predictably, lots of people turned to Twitter to express their angst.

And finally, one that’s NSFW…

We’re with you, Captain Picard.
