While Windows 10 was highly customizable in its own right, Microsoft’s latest operating system provides several new unique elements.

Personalize the desktop background on Windows 11 OS

You’ll be seeing your desktop background every time you use your computer. So why not take a few seconds to update personalize it rather than sticking with the stock image. To choose a new desktop background, follow these steps below:

Open Settings.

Click on Personalization.

On the right side, select and click Background.

Personalize your background by choosing the either the Picture, Solid color, or Slideshow options.

If you just want a single image as your background, select Picture and click Browse photos to select an image from your PC’s folders. You’ll also see a few suggestions under Recent photos.

If you’d rather have a plain color background, select Solid color. You’ll see several hue options appear under Choose your background color. Alternatively, you can select another hue under Custom colors.

Select Slideshow if you want to have a rotating batch of images appear as your background. Click Browse to select images to add to your background slideshow. You’ll also see options appear for how often the images will change and if you want the picture order shuffled.

If the dimensions of an image are out of proportion with your screen, select the Fill option. This adjusts the image so that it fits the entire screen. You can tweak the picture further by exploring features like Stretch, Fit, Tile, Center, and Span for a more custom look.

Navigate to Settings>Personalization>Background to update your background image to a picture, solid color, or slideshow

Here’s a shortcut to updating your background that will bypass the above steps:

Find your image of choice in your folder or on your desktop.

Right-click the image.

Chose Set as Background Image.

Customize different backgrounds for each of your virtual desktops

Unique to Windows 11 is the ability to configure different backgrounds for every additional desktop (formerly called virtual desktops). Previously, you could only choose one visual scheme for all backgrounds. This updated feature for Windows 11 is convenient because it helps users quickly distinguish one desktop from another.

Use these steps to set a different background for each of your desktops:

Open Settings.

Click on Personalization.

On the right side, select and click Background.

Personalize your background by following the aforementioned instructions for tip one.

Right-click your desired image and choose Set for desktop.

Repeat this process for each one of your virtual desktops, assigning each one a unique image or theme. You may set one image for all desktops, as well, by right-clicking and choosing this option from the submenu.

Under Current theme, you’ll see different premade themes with various wallpaper, sounds, and color combinations.

You’ll need to pair your phone if this is your first time using the app. To do this, select Link new device under My Devices.

Once pairing is complete, you’ll see an interface that’s integrated with your phone. It will include options for Notifications, Messages, Photos, Calls, and Contacts.

With the Your Phone app in Windows 11, you can pair any Android phone to your computer.

Set up Windows Hello to avoid re-typing passwords

If you’re tired of entering your password every time you want to log in to your computer, try setting up Windows Hello. It takes just a few steps to set up this convenient face recognition app:

Open Settings.

Click on Accounts.

Select Sign-in options

Click on the top option, Facial recognition (Windows Hello)

In the dropdown that appears select the option to set up facial recognition. A window will pop up that scans your face once you type in your password.

If you wear glasses, select Improve recognition and do a scan without your spectacles.

If the first tip worked, you should see some yellow or green blocks. Add some consonants to the mix now, and make sure you test ‘y’ early to remove it as an option. Use the vowels you discovered in the first tip to see if you can work out which consonants will work the best.

It’s all up to you now. Reuse green letters in the same spaces, and rearrange the yellow ones, until you can mentally work out what the five-letter Wordle of the day is. Don’t waste turns, as you only have six. Try to determine what it is in your mind first before you place an entry.

How to Add Fonts to Microsoft Office in 5 Steps

When you download Microsoft Office for Windows and Mac, many fonts are automatically installed at the same time. These are standard fonts that are used all over the world, and most of them are simple, straightforward, and easy to read.

More specialized applications, such as Microsoft Publisher, have more ‘fancy’ fonts automatically included, but if you want a unique font for that particular project, how do you go about including it in Microsoft Office apps?

Find the Font
There are literally thousands of fonts available on the Internet. Many are free for personal use, but for commercial use, they must be purchased. There are many sites where you can buy a specific font or even have one specially created for you.

For this article, we have used the site 1001 Free Fonts to demonstrate how you would get new fonts for your Microsoft Applications. Follow Steps 2 to 5 if you have used a different location to collect your font.

From the site that you are on, select the font that you wish to download.
Locate the Downloaded file in your Downloads Folder
For most people, anything downloaded from the Internet can be found in the system’s Download Folder. If you use a different location for your downloaded files, then look in that folder.

Many fonts will come as compressed files, so you will need to click on the file to open it and find the actual font.
Open the Font File
When you click to open the compressed (zip) file, look at the files included and find the TrueType font file. Click on the TrueType Font File.
Install the Font
When you click on the TrueType Font File, a pop-up screen similar to this will open. This pop-up shows you what the font will look like in different sizes. If you are happy with the font, click on install, and the font will be installed for you.
Use the font in your Microsoft Products
When you search through the font files in your Microsoft products (here we are using Word), you will find the new font ready for use.

Tip:

Keep the original zip file that you downloaded in a separate folder. If you have to reinstall your Microsoft Office for any reason, you may find that your downloaded fonts are not transferred automatically to your new installation. If you have retained them all in a separate folder, they are easy to find and reinstall as part of the process of setting up your new Office.

How to Save a Password in Chrome

Now open a second tab in your browser and go to either YouTube or Spotify. For this example, we used YouTube, but Spotify works the same way.

Step 3: Find the Song You Want on YouTube or Spotify

Search for the song you want by typing the name in the search bar. From the options provided, choose the song you want to use. Remember that when selecting a music video on YouTube, Rave DJ will also combine and overlap the music videos.

Step 4: Copy the Link and Paste it Into Rave DJ / Type the Song and Artist Name

To copy the link, you can simply copy the URL directly or click on ‘Share’ in the song options and then copy the link.

Step 5: Paste the Link Into Rave DJ

Now head back to the Rave DJ website tab, and paste the link into the program. Options will come up. Click on the one you want to use, and it will be added to your list shown below the search bar.

Step 6: Repeat Step 3 and 4 for the Second Song

Now, you can repeat steps three and four to add your second song. Alternatively, if you don’t want to navigate between two windows, you can just type the song and artist name in the search bar, and Rave DJ will give you the options it finds, and you can just choose the correct one.

Step 7: Click on ‘Mashup Two Songs Together’

Now, with both songs added to your list, you can click on the ‘Mashup Two Songs Together’ button and give Rave DJ some time to mix the songs together. Once your mashup is ready, you can click on it to see how well the songs have been combined.
