Few things work better than a good psychological thriller. Few things work better than a good psychological thriller. One or two people facing an apparently impossible and desperate situation that they must confront with nothing but their will to move forward, or the need to do so at all costs. Netflix knows this well, as it has seen several of its biggest recent successes are psychological thrillers. And it seems that it wants to go with another one with one of the big bets of this autumn in the form of a miniseries with big names behind it.
Black Rabbit is the name of the miniseries and the big names are Jude Law and Jason Bateman. You know the former from the big screen, where he has starred in films like The Talented Mr. Ripley or Sherlock Holmes, in addition to being the lead in one of the most exquisite recent series you shouldn’t miss, The Young Pope. For his part, Jason Bateman is a familiar face, as besides Air, he is famous for his role in the intense and dark Ozark. Together, they star in this new psychological thriller that promises to leave us on the edge of our seats.
A miniseries for those seeking empathy in their tension
But what is Black Rabbit about? It’s about two brothers, Jake and Vince Friedkin, who share a restaurant considered the place to go in New York, the titular Black Rabbit. The problem is that Vince, played by Jason Bateman, has been away for a while, and upon his return, Jake, played by Jude Law, will have to confront all the old traumas and new threats that come with him. Because Vince is a handful.
Focusing on the nightlife and underworld of New York, the miniseries centers on the world of the mafia and the risks involved when trying to work with it. Or working at its expense. But the heart of this miniseries, like that of any good psychological thriller, is the relationship between its characters. The relationship between the two brothers is complicated, tense, volatile, and always filled with affection and love, being the center of the entire narrative: will their relationship survive all the problems that Vince will bring with him, or will they not even survive physically to them?
Two actors giving it their all
With an unreliable character who gets into trouble, but has a good heart; with another character who is more uptight, but is reliable and always willing to give a second chance, Netflix may have the perfect formula to win over the audience. Especially if the conflicts faced by the Friedkins are on par with their relationship.
With 8 episodes ahead, of which the first two will be directed by Bateman himself, the series promises to offer us exactly what we expect from this kind of productions: drama, tension, strong emotions, and a lot of suffering from a couple of characters that we would love to hate, but we are unable to not have affection for. Something very easy to achieve with two actors like Jude Law and Jason Bateman in the leading roles, and we have no doubt that they will elevate this production to another level.

With a completion time ranging from 10 to 12 hours, this title has been designed to be completed without the need to dedicate months of time to its gameplay.
A much more contained mafia
Set in Sicily in 1900, the game allows players to embody Enzo Favara, a recruit in the Torrisi crime family. As the story progresses, Enzo faces challenges that will lead him to rise in the criminal world, including a forbidden romance with Isabella, the daughter of the family boss. This rich narrative is driven by solid voice acting, although its development is not entirely surprising, as the plot twists are predictable and the ending may seem somewhat anticlimactic.
In terms of gameplay, Mafia: The Old Country offers third-person shooting, vehicle chases, and hand-to-hand combat. Although it does not introduce innovative mechanics, the game feels like a return to traditional formulas, which can be an incentive for those tired of more experimental proposals. The digital recreation of Sicily is authentic and full of details, allowing for considerable immersion in the early 20th-century environment.
Ultimately, Mafia: The Old Country offers a refreshing option in the current gaming environment, presenting itself as a perfect choice for those looking to enjoy a complete story without being overwhelmed by excessive playtime. This design philosophy is certainly something that many players will appreciate in the near future.
With the release of Mafia: The Old Country on the horizon, Hangar 13 has raised fans’ expectations by addressing one of the most debated issues: the game’s length. In a recent interview with the Czech media Vortex, the developers stated that the new installment will offer a similar experience in scope to Mafia: Definitive Edition, although no specific number of chapters or hours of gameplay has been provided. The promise of a crime-centered narrative remains the focus of development, emphasizing that the game will maintain a linear format with a focus on the […]
With the release of Mafia: The Old Country on the horizon, Hangar 13 has raised fans’ expectations by addressing one of the most debated issues: the game’s duration. In a recent interview with the Czech media Vortex, the developers stated that the new installment will offer a similar experience in scope to Mafia: Definitive Edition, although no specific number of chapters or hours of gameplay has been provided. The promise of a crime-centered narrative remains the core of the development, emphasizing that the game will maintain a linear format with a focus on the story of Enzo Favara, set in Sicily.
Sometimes you just don’t feel like a 100-hour game
For those looking for a comparison with previous releases, the Mafia: Definitive Edition campaign can be completed in just over 10 hours, increasing to 13 hours if side missions are taken into account. Achieving 100% completion could take up to 24 hours, suggesting that Mafia: The Old Country might follow a similar path. Some players find the duration appropriate for the type of game, while others criticize the price of 50 euros in relation to what they perceive as a short experience.
The president of Hangar 13 has addressed these concerns, assuring that the quality of the game will be AAA level and that the cost should not be a cause for concern.
The title will be released on August 8th, and it will be interesting to see how these expectations and community reactions will be addressed when it debuts in the market. For now, it’s good news for those who don’t have all the time in the world and who don’t want to give up gaming.
With the release of Mafia: The Old Country just a month away, expectations are high among video game fans. Set in the early days of the mafia in Sicily in the early 20th century, this title promises a rich narrative and linear missions, moving away from the open-world approach that characterized previous installments like Mafia 3. Priced at 50 euros, the game positions itself as an affordable option for those seeking a story-driven experience.
An extensive gameplay that fails to convince
2K Games has started its marketing campaign strongly, releasing a 9-minute gameplay video through IGN’s YouTube channel. This preview showcases a variety of gameplay elements, including stealth, combat, and driving, as well as dialogues that are key to the story. However, reactions have been mixed; while some users highlight the atmosphere and immersion of the title, others criticize visual aspects and gameplay, considering them outdated.
Opinions are divided in the community. A Reddit user expresses satisfaction for not having pre-ordered the game, while others positively appreciate the design of the environments and vehicles. Some players comment that “the gameplay of Mafia was never revolutionary,” suggesting that the franchise relies more on narrative than on technical innovation. However, the focus on a well-developed story could mark a significant shift in the future direction of the series, moving away from factions and open-world settings.
With Mafia: The Old Country, Hangar 13 seems to be betting on a return to the narrative roots of the series, an approach that could resonate with fans and potentially influence future installments of the franchise.
The next game in the Mafia series, titled Mafia: The Old Country, promises to take players to Sicily in the early 20th century, a period in which the origins of Cosa Nostra are explored. The protagonist will be Enzo Favara, a young man seeking freedom through a life of crime. This installment represents a step back in the series’ narrative, as it will focus on the beginnings of organized crime in the region. Mafia: The Old Country is beautiful, cheap, and it’s not an open world
The title will be released with a standard edition priced at 44.95 euros. This focus on a lower price is a deliberate strategy by 2K, according to its president, David Ismailer, who assured that the game will not require “massive time commitments.” This contrasts with the price increases in many current AAA titles, which may be well received by players looking for more contained experiences.
Mafia: The Old Country will offer a linear gaming experience, combining elements of combat, stealth, and shooting, unlike previous installments that focused on open worlds. This will allow players to immerse themselves in a more focused narrative, exploring difficult decisions and the tragic story of Enzo, including a romantic subplot with Isabella, the Don’s daughter.
Graphically, the game is developed with Unreal Engine 5, which suggests an impressive level of visual detail. However, it will require suitable hardware for optimal performance. At the same time, the voice acting will be conducted in Sicilian, generating some controversy among fans, even though it will offer subtitles and an interface in Italian.
The release is expected in the near future, and although there is no confirmation about availability on Xbox Game Pass, the interest in the narrative and the more direct approach of the game make it one of the most anticipated titles in the genre.
Rockstar has just released the second trailer for GTA6. Although it is still purely cinematic, without showing us any gameplay, it already gives us a glimpse of some of its dynamics. Pure Vice City, very focused on its main couple and with what seems to be huge set pieces typical of a big Tom Cruise action movie. Which we think is great. But since they just delayed it until next year a few days ago, let’s not kid ourselves, we are left wanting more. But that’s what we’re here for. Rockstar has just released the second trailer for GTA6. Although it remains purely cinematic, without showing us any gameplay, it already gives us a glimpse of some of its dynamics.
To recommend a series of games that you can buy and play right now and enjoy while waiting for GTA6, which is set to release on May 26, 2026. Six games that won’t be GTA 6 but we can assure you are fantastic and will make that wait much shorter.
GTA 6 is the new installment of the action-adventure sandbox in an open world by Rockstar Games. Wrapped in expectation and mystery, the sixth Grand Theft Auto marks the return of this legendary franchise 10 years after GTA 5 was released. Although little has been confirmed about the gameplay or the release date of this new GTA, everything seems to indicate that we are facing what will be the most expensive game in history. Still, with each passing day, new rumors and juicy leaks are coming to delight the entire gaming community. Would you like to know more? This is everything we know about GTA VI to date.
Sleeping Dogs
The best GTA-style game. Better than many GTAs and, depending on who you ask, the best GTA ever made, even without being called GTA. Why? Because its combat is excellent, its driving is exceptional, its story is incredible, and the recreation of the city of Hong Kong is simply amazing. Sleeping Dogs is one of the best games of its generation, and no one has managed to replicate what it achieved. Not even GTA, in many ways. And that’s why it’s on this list and at the top: because Sleeping Dogs is the king, and no one can deny it.
The Simpsons: Hit & Run
It may not have the depth of GTA, but what does it matter when all the characters you control come from the best television series of all time? The Simpsons: Hit & Run is like a good season of The Simpsons turned into a video game, with all the craziness of a GTA and even the original voice acting from the series, so we can’t say there isn’t extraordinary care put into it. Could it look better? Obviously. It’s a game from the PlayStation 2 and GameCube generation. That’s why we always ask for a remaster. Because a The Simpsons: Hit & Run that looked just like the television series is a game we would never stop playing.
Saints Row 2
The craziest gang game in history managed to take the GTA formula and make it its own. How? By doing what GTA does, but even more outrageous. There are more explosions, more violence, more madness, and more sex. Hitting gang members with giant dildos? Attacking your enemies with rocket launchers while jumping from skyscrapers? Missions to blow up entire neighborhoods? Of course. If GTA has always been a satire of the USA, Saints Row is what happens when you turn the volume of the satire up to 12. Including breaking the speaker and making it sound pretty bad in later installments.
Mafia
Although it has never achieved the same relevance as the Rockstar franchise, Mafia is one of its most advanced disciples. With a more realistic approach set in the 1920s, it puts us in the shoes of a mobster who must climb the ranks within the dangerous world of Italian-American mafia. Frustrating due to the rigidity of its simulation, especially in traffic laws, but fascinating in terms of atmosphere and stories, Mafia remains a captivating game and franchise. A much more mature and cinematic approach than GTA.
Yakuza 0
Although we do not recommend starting the franchise with this installment, but rather with the first one, Yakuza 0 demonstrates that a Japanese version of GTA can be made. Because Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has been making games in the Yakuza franchise for over 20 years, showing that you don’t need giant cities or cutting-edge graphics to create incredible games that stay in the hearts and minds of players. You need memorable places and characters that you will never forget and always want to spend more time with. This is something that Yakuza and GTA have in common, and it is the reason why you should dive into this legendary franchise if you haven’t done so already.
Lego City Undercover
We have saved the most peculiar example for last, because it is likely to shock many people. What do you mean a LEGO game? And on top of that, you are a police officer? Well, yes, indeed. Because LEGO City: Undercover is an excellent action-adventure game in the style of GTA, made by LEGO, where you can find everything you would expect from a game of this kind. Driving, action scenes, missions, and collectibles are present in a game that is much more contained, both in violence and size, but serves as both an excellent first approach and a great reminder of what we love about the genre. In other words, perfect to make the wait for GTA6 a little shorter.

There are still a few months left, but we are already excited. Developed by Hangar 13, the game will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and promises to offer a narrative-focused action-adventure experience, unlike the open world of Mafia 3.
This title acts as a prequel to the original trilogy and will be set in Sicily during the 1900s, exploring the origins of organized crime. The recent trailer, titled The Initiation, introduces a new recruit being integrated into a crime family, as well as showcasing the combat system based on firearms and knives, along with an exciting vehicle chase in an old car.
Hangar 13 is committed to providing an authentic experience, with fully localized Sicilian voice, which reinforces the focus on historical fidelity and detail that fans expect from the series. The president of Hangar 13, Nick Baynes, mentions that the game will return to the roots of what followers love most about the franchise, with a more linear narrative focus than in previous installments.
The release schedule for Mafia: The Old Country coincides with the expected release window for GTA 6 in the fall of 2025, suggesting strong confidence from 2K Games in this project. With the release of trailers offering both narrative context and gameplay, interest in this new chapter of the saga continues to grow.
As we approach the release date, more information about the game is expected to be revealed, including a possible announcement of a specific date. Until then, fans have much to discover in the Mafia saga, which continues to attract both new players and veterans of the series.
Mafia is one of those franchises that has never managed to reach the heights of its references, but they have a devoted fan base. The first Mafia is a beloved cult game with a fantastic remake. The second Mafia would refine what we saw in the first one. And although the third one left us with mixed feelings, it is a game full of interesting ideas and incredible mechanics. That’s why, even if it doesn’t have the popularity of GTA, the announcement of a new Mafia is incredible news.
During the Opening Night Live of Gamescom, a new Mafia title was announced. Named Mafia: The Old Country, a teaser was presented to us where we could infer some aspects about it. With Italian newspapers scattered on a table and an older man looking out a window, it was clear that we were not in the USA. And this has been confirmed by its developers, the people from Hangar 13.
The peculiarity of Mafia: The Old Country is that it will take us back to the origins of the Mafia. Set in the early years of the 20th century in Sicily, we will experience a linear story that will allow us to learn how this organization originated. In addition, we will also see how it shaped what the characters of the franchise will experience years later. They have emphasized that, despite the obvious change that comes with the change of era, they seek to maintain the realism and emphasis on narrative for which the Mafia saga is known.
While they have promised to show us more in December, Hangar 13’s general manager, Roman Hladík, has asked us to be patient. Although they still can’t show anything else, their interest is to show as much as they can when the time is right. So we can only speculate about what awaits us in this Mafia, barely formed, from the early 20th century.
Mafia: The Old Country has a release date of 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The remake of the first game, Mafia: Definitive Edition, was released in 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and it’s an excellent way to satisfy your cravings while waiting for more information about this interesting journey to the heart of Sicily.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is the ultimate remaster of Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, the title that gave birth to this iconic saga developed by Hangar 13 and marketed by 2K Studios. It is an action and adventure game inspired by Chicago in the thirties.
2K está trabajando en el remake de un videojuego, según ha filtrado uno de sus trabajadores en LinkedIn, pero no sabemos de cuál se trata… todavía.
Working in the video-game industry and posting things LinkedIn is a risky business. With the number of projects that can’t be talked about, or worse, are in a state where it’s hard to know if they can be talked about or not, it’s easy to slip up. There are also other more ambiguous situations. When someone leaves the company and accidents aren’t so accidental. After all, they’re no longer employed by the company. But LinkedIn is already one of our most reliable sources to learn about new projects, and that’s how we hear all about 2K’s latest news.
According to the LinkedIn page of a 2K employee who works as a motion capture animator, 2K has been working on the remake of a video game for the past two and a half years. This person has also been working on WWE 2K25, NBA 2K25, the new Mafia game, and the new BioShock game, as well as two unannounced games– an unnamed sports title and an unannounced remake.
It’s not surprising that a studio of 2K’s caliber is developing a remake of one of its franchises. Although it’s true that we usually associate 2K with sports games, they have a great catalog of all kinds of games from which they could choose to make a remake. Especially now that the industry has clearly moved in that direction.
Although we don’t know which game it is, judging from the company’s catalog, there are numerous interesting possibilities. A remake of the first BioShock or Mafia seems most likely, since both franchises are beloved and have new installments coming. We shouldn’t rule out a remake of some Borderlands game, probably the second one, given the success of that one. Digging deeper into the catalog, there’s The Darkness, Spec Ops: The Line, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and Sid Meier’s Pirates! These may be less likely, but could be even more interesting remake possibilities.
In any case, nothing is confirmed. Although it’s practically certain that the remake will be of one of the above-mentioned games, this particular LinkedIn posting doesn’t give us any more clues. We’ll have to wait until 2K decides to reveal more to answer all our questions. Although it’s clear to us is that if you want to keep something a secret, it’s better that your employees don’t post it on their LinkedIn.
“The Irishman” chronicles the demise of Jimmy Hoffa and the man who claims to have killed him.
The trailer for Martin Scorsese’s new movie “The Irishman” is finally here, and it looks incredible
As you can tell, this is one star-studded cast. You got Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Anna Paquin, Jesse Plemons, Harvey Keitel, and the triumphant return of Joe Pesci! Also, Italian comedians Sebastian Maniscalco and Ray Romano even have roles in this movie!
The background
The movie revolves around De Niro as Frank Sheeran as he chronicles his involvement in Jimmy Hoffa’s ( Al Pacino) death and disappearance. The movie is based on the book “I Heard You Paint Houses” by Charles Brandt. Before he died, Sheeran told Brandt about his involvement with Jimmy Hoffa. In case you didn’t know, Hoffa was the president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and he mysteriously went missing in 1975. Although he was declared dead after being missing for years, a body has never been found. According to the book, the union leader’s relationship with the mafia resulted in his death.
After not appearing in a movie in nearly five years, Joe Pesci is returning to film as Russell Bufalino, the real-life head of the Bufalino Crime Family.
Hoffa had hired Sheeran as a hitman, and for muscle to help in the fight against rival unions. Bufalino put Hoffa in touch with Sheeran. The phrase “I Heard You Paint Houses,” was the password Hoffa said to Sheeran to let him know that he needed his hitman services.
Why do they look so young?
If you didn’t notice, many of these legendary actors look much younger in several scenes in this movie than they do in real life. The filmmakers used CGI to de-age the actors so they can appear 30 years younger.
It is a little upsetting that the filmmakers are resorting to using CGI rather than make-up to de-age their actors. If you remember, more than 10 years ago, the film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” shocked the world with the incredible make-up used to change the ages of the actors.
The CGI effect still looks pretty good, and we’re guessing that since several of the stars in this film are pushing 80, they didn’t want to be stuck in a make-up chair for hours.
Wrapping up
“The Irishman” is truly a passion project for Scorsese, and there is already a boatload of Oscar buzz around it already.
Scorsese has made several incredible organized crime movies throughout the ages including “GoodFellas,” “Casino,” “Gangs of New York,” and “The Departed.” Scorsese does a phenomenal job of taking larger-than-life criminals and making them both human and vulnerable.
Video is NSFW
The movie is set to come out on Netflix this fall, and will also have a limited release in select theaters.
