That’s why it’s not surprising that Nintendo Switch 2 has promised that some games from the previous console will play better on the new console. It’s a good selling point and a great reason to replay games we love, but perhaps didn’t play under the best possible conditions. Today we’re going to talk about that: the games that should receive a patch for Nintendo Switch 2 so they can finally run in optimal conditions. Because Nintendo Switch 2 has the potential to improve even the bad aspects of Nintendo Switch.
Bayonetta 3
Probably not the most flagrant case on the list, although it is certainly a particularly painful one. Although Bayonetta 3 can reach 60fps at times, it is always at the expense of the visual spectacle, something that goes against the very spirit of the game. This is something we could well sacrifice in exchange for being able to play it as smoothly as possible, which the new Nintendo console should be more than capable of.
But in all honesty, Bayonetta 3 would need more work than just a performance boost. It would need a patch to improve it to be a game worthy of Nintendo Switch 2. How likely is that? Given that its creator has left Platinum Games, the studio has suffered a massive exodus and they are busy making Ninja Gaiden 4, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen. Although being able to enjoy Bayonetta 3 at 60fps is already a delight.
Astral Chain
Astral Chain is the completely opposite situation of Bayonetta 3. It doesn’t need anything, for anyone to touch it, or to do anything with it. It only needs one thing and one thing only: more power. The original Switch was a very limited console for what Astral Chain wanted to achieve, and it showed in the 30fps it ran at, solid but insufficient for such a fast and precise action game like this.
Of course, as with Bayonetta 3, this is a Platinum Games title whose director has left the studio. That means that any possible patch seems impossible. But if Switch 2 can run it at 60fps, because its framerate isn’t capped at 30, the game could have a second life on Nintendo’s new console. One that is more than deserved, considering it is the most interesting game that Platinum Games released in the past generation by a wide margin.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Now that Dynasty Warriors Origins has shown that musou games are cool, it’s time to revisit some of the great modern classics that Omega Force left us on Switch. Especially on Switch 2, a console that will be able to run them. Not well. Run them. Because Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is an absolutely excellent game that perfectly combines the idiosyncrasy of Breath of the Wild with the principles of musou which has a problem: it can drop below 15 frames per second.
With Nintendo Switch 2, we hope that we can simply play the game the way it was intended: with a stable framerate. We don’t need more draw distance or any kind of added gimmick. Just not having frame drops would already allow us to appreciate the absolute delight of the game, as its only problem has always been that Nintendo Switch was no longer up to par in 2020.
Pokémon Legends Arceus
Few games have suffered more from technical and budgetary limitations on the console than Pokémon Legends Arceus. The best Pokémon of the generation is also a game that, in terms of performance and visual quality, is very, very limited. Its draw distance is nonexistent, its FPS do what they can, and it is not a great example of a polished game technically at any level. But in terms of mechanics and artistry? The best Pokémon in decades, probably.
That’s why, Nintendo, if you have to give a second life to a game and only one, let it be this one. You have a second Pokémon Legends on the way, what better way to promote it than to show the public that you can do justice to the previous one? You would demonstrate that you can do things right, that there should be faith in what you are doing with it, and you would also show that you are aware of the problems with the franchise. Something that can only bring you great dividends. Think about it, Nintendo. You can only win.
Xenoblade Chronicles X
This is almost cheating because we basically know what’s going to happen. Xenoblade Chronicles X is one of the last exclusive games that have been released for Nintendo Switch, and all the rumors have pointed to it having a version for Nintendo Switch 2. Why? Because it’s normal. Their studio works closely with Nintendo and they released the game a few months before the console’s launch, how could they not have a devkit for the new console to be able to launch a version when it comes out?
Xenoblade Chronicles X is not the game that will benefit the most from the generational leap. More FPS, upscaling, better textures, or draw distance are not something that a game already excellently crafted will particularly need. Release date, price, and all the controversy
The console will be released on June 5th. It will cost 469.99 euros for the console alone, or 509.99 euros for the console with the new Mario Kart in digital format. The prices of the games that have already been announced range between 80 and 90 euros. Similarly, microSD cards start at 60 euros and the new pro controller will cost 90 euros. Prices that are not very popular and well above what people expected.
The features of the console
The most interesting thing and what we all wanted to know: what the console is like. With a 7.9-inch screen and the same thickness, it is much larger, but with an equivalent weight. With a 1080p LCD screen with HDR capabilities, magnetic controllers, SL and SR buttons, and larger joysticks, it is a much larger and better console. Another big surprise is that Nintendo GameCube will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online. Exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, it will launch exclusively with three games, but three of its most beloved games: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Soul Calibur II, and F-Zero GX. However, a Direct will be held very soon where we hope they will provide us with all the details we can expect to make an informed purchase about this new console. Given the success of the original Nintendo Switch, it’s normal for us to be excited about this new console.
Now, what can we expect from tomorrow’s Direct? That’s a good question. And we already know some things. Between the official announcements and the leaks, we can give you a rough idea of what to expect. And we provide all the information for you below.

What announcements can we expect?
Unfortunately, nothing has been officially announced yet. That said, we should expect at least the announcement of the release date, the price of the console, and the launch lineup. Specific features of the console, such as what the mysterious C button does, is something we also hope to see here. What we do not expect to see here are any specific console bundles or specific hardware specifications of the console. Although it is possible that Nintendo surprises us regarding these topics, it is not something they have done with previous consoles in their presentations, and it does not seem that this will be the exception.
What are the games that will be released at launch?
Again, there is no official announcement at the moment. What we can expect with almost total certainty is a Mario Kart 9, since they presented a Mario Kart in the console’s trailer that did not correspond to any we had seen before. Likewise, we should at least expect the console to have next-generation versions of already announced or published games, such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond or Xenoblade Chronicles X.
What other games could we expect? It’s hard to know. Rumors suggest that there may be a remake of Kirby Planet Robobot from Nintendo 3DS. Aside from that, among the major Nintendo franchises, the one that seems most likely to have a new installment is Super Mario, as it hasn’t had a new 3D release since the beginning of the Nintendo Switch generation, with Super Mario Odyssey. Therefore, a Super Mario Odyssey 2 could be a highly anticipated release for the console’s launch window.
What are the features of the console?
Again, officially, we do not know what the specifications of the Nintendo Switch 2 are. That does not mean we do not know some details. If Nvidia’s leaks are correct, the console features an Nvidia Tegra T239 chip, with an ARM Cortex-A78C CPU, a 12 SM Ampere GPU, and 128-bit LPDDR5 memory. Furthermore, internal emails from Activision that were read in the FTC v. Microsoft case indicate that the console would have power similar to or slightly higher than that of the eighth generation of consoles, that of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They also indicate that the console would have the capability for DLSS and ray tracing, which would imply that its power would be at least equivalent to that of a PlayStation 4 Pro.
How reliable are these leaks? In fairness, quite a lot. They all come from internal documentation of companies that work very closely with Nintendo. Something that implies that, one way or another, it is likely that we will end up seeing exactly these specifications of the console. Although, as we have already pointed out, it is very likely that we will still have to wait a few days to know the details, as Nintendo usually does not focus on the technical specifications of its consoles in its presentations.
What are the plans for the console?
According to a recent leak, the console would have a launch in three phases. With the launch of the console, Nintendo’s own games would arrive, focusing on strengthening its primary catalog. The second phase of the launch, which would be between October and November, would consist of reinforcing its catalog with titles from third-party companies. The third and final phase, which would take place during the holiday season, has not had its details revealed.
When will the console be released for sale?
As we have pointed out before, the console does not have a release date yet. All rumors suggest that the most likely date is June, but still without a specific day.
When will the console be available for reservation?
As with the release date, we still do not have a release date, although we do have several leaks. The two biggest ones, contradicting each other, provide two completely different but very close dates: one says it will be on April 2 after the Direct and the other says it will be on April 9 after a countdown that will start during the Direct. In both cases, the information suggests that it will be revealed during tomorrow’s event.
How much will the console cost?
Not only do we not know, but we have no indications of it. Everything points to it being in the range of between 400 and 500 euros, but anything below and above that, 50 euros up or down, should not be surprising.

Probably the announcement that everyone was waiting for and that has finally arrived. After the excellent Dragon Quest III HD-2D they have announced that the next two installments of this trilogy will arrive this year to close the story. We knew they existed, we knew they would follow the same aesthetic, but we didn’t know when they would be released. No Sleep for Kaname Date: AI Somnium Files
Kaname Date returns in a new detective adventure that will lead him to rescue an Internet idol. Diving into the psyche of suspects and involved individuals alike, this is the third part of AI Somnium Files, an excellent series of graphic adventure/visual novels that have taken the detective story fans by storm. And not without reason, as they feature tremendously charismatic characters, fascinating mechanics, and stories filled with unexpected twists. Something that seems to continue here.
Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army
After the success of the Persona franchise, it is no surprise that Atlus is bringing back its old spinoffs from Shin Megami Tensei. In this case, it is Raidou Kuzunoha, who in this remaster of The Mystery of the Soulless Army invites us to fight fire with fire by embodying a demon hunter from the early 20th century who battles these vile creatures by recruiting other demons willing to help him. An excellent game, previously locked to the PlayStation 2, that you shouldn’t miss if you enjoy Shin Megami Tensei or Persona.
Shadow Labyrinth
This peculiar reimagining of Pac-Man, now in the form of a metroidvania where we have to escape from a dying planet, we already knew about, but until now we didn’t have a release date. Now we know it comes out on July 18 and we can’t wait to see what else this peculiar thing has to offer.
Patapon 1+2 REPLAY
Perhaps there are no more unique rhythm games than Patapon. And now we can replay them in this remaster that, in addition to allowing us to play on a big screen, will also include numerous quality of life improvements, specially designed for those who have already played it. A perfect opportunity to replay them on July 11, but also to discover a franchise unjustly forgotten by Sony. Although not by its creators.

With cooperative play for up to four people, it has the potential to be one of the big releases of this year. And you won’t need to switch to Nintendo Switch 2 to enjoy it.
The Eternal Life of Goldman
With excellent animation reminiscent of classic Disney’s Fantasia, The Eternal Life of Goldman is a beautiful game that has caught attention precisely for that. The care put into its art. And what about gameplay? It seems to be a very appealing old-school platformer that will deserve attention.
Gradius Origins
Gradius is one of the great franchises of the shoot ’em up genre, and now we can enjoy it again on our Switch, with an excellent collection of classic games, as well as a new installment. But to enjoy them, we will have to wait until next August 7.
Rift of the Necrodancer
