Netflix reveals what the new live-action Scooby-Doo will be like, and you're going to want to hug him non-stop

Okay, do you want me to tell you what my problem is with the new Scooby-Doo: Origins? No, seriously. After all, the franchise has been around since 1969 and it’s hard to do something new, but you can’t tell how Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, Fred, and Scooby met as teenagers… When the same thing was already told in the late 80s, but with them as kids, in a series called A Pup Named Scooby-Doo! Okay, do you want me to tell you what my problem is with the new Scooby-Doo: Origins? No, seriously. After all, the franchise has been around since 1969 and it’s hard to do something new, but you can’t tell how Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, Fred, and Scooby met as teenagers… When the same thing was already told in the late 80s, but with them as kids, in a series titled A Pup Named Scooby-Doo! A little consistency, please!

Scooby-dooby-doo!

This new version of Scooby-Doo, which comes to replace the five live-action movies made between 2002 and 2018 (the last three went straight to television or DVD), will take place on the last day of a camp where a supernatural murder has occurred. Hey, why not? The last time we heard about the Scooby gang was in the HBO series Velma, and that, after all, was absolutely disliked by everyone. They deserve a second chance!

For now, in addition to the first image of the cast, we have been able to take a look at the main dog, and I don’t know if he will solve mysteries, but I want to cuddle him as much as I can. However, there is some bad news: instead of being a simple dog, like in the cartoon versions, here he will talk with the voice of Frank Welker, because we can’t have anything nice.

If there is an audience for a new version of Scooby-Doo or not, I’m afraid that’s something even Netflix doesn’t know. But well, just to try, what is lost beyond time, money, and the legitimacy of a classic franchise?

As if it were a memory of Covid, 'Among Us' returns to our lives

Do you remember the craze we all had with Among Us during the pandemic? Few groups of friends escaped the endless games and looking for the traitor while fixing things here and there. But time passed, the game faded away, and now, in the middle of 2026, it still has about 6000 players on average. Enough to keep the servers running, but not enough to create an entire franchise. Or is it? It’s the traitor! Now, suddenly and without warning, Paramount+ has released 10 episodes of its animated series, and people are surprised because it is […]

Do you remember the craze we all had for Among Us during the pandemic? Few groups of friends escaped the endless games and searching for the traitor while fixing things here and there. But time passed, the game faded away, and now, in the middle of 2026, it still has about 6000 players on average. Enough to keep the servers running, but not enough to create an entire franchise. Or is it?

It’s the traitor!

Now, suddenly and without warning, Paramount+ has released 10 episodes of its animated series, and people are surprised because it is genuinely good. How could it not be, if besides being a simple corporate crossover, behind it is Owen Dennis, the creator of the award-winning Infinity Train? It is not at all clear that the audience will approach this version of the characters, but without a doubt, they should.

The truth is that it has been a surprise, because the series had been sitting in a drawer since 2024, when production finished, and there were not a few who thought that perhaps they had simply written it off before its release. At the same time, they have taken the opportunity to announce that a narrative single-player spin-off, Among Us Story: On Guard, is in development.

Unlike Angry Birds, which has repeated itself to the point of exhaustion, Among Us has managed to reinvent itself. Now it remains to be seen if the audience understands it or, on the contrary, identifies it as the one and only true impostor.

The actor who almost convinced Leonardo DiCaprio not to do 'Titanic': "No one will give a damn who is on the boat"

Looking back now, it is clear that Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio had incredible luck in accepting the role in Titanic. However, at that time not everyone saw it the same way, and there were critics who questioned James Cameron and his megalomaniacal work. It was the first film in history to surpass 1000 (and 2000) million and it became the highest-grossing film of all time until he surpassed himself with Avatar. A huge success, indeed. Looking back now, it’s clear that Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio had incredible luck in accepting the role in Titanic. However, at that time not everyone saw it the same way and there were critics who questioned James Cameron and his megalomaniac work. It was the first film in history to surpass 1000 (and 2000) million and held the title of the highest-grossing film in history until he surpassed himself with Avatar. A huge success, indeed.

Near, far, wherever you are

One of these critics, who imagined that the movie was going to be a success for everyone except for the actors starring in it, was John C. Reilly, one of the best actors in modern history, who tried to get DiCaprio to abandon Cameron to star in Boogie Nights directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. By the way, it’s a great film.

Reilly, who has known DiCaprio since he was young, got together with him to tell him his truth: “Listen, Leo, let me tell you something. Titanic is about a ship that sinks. Everyone knows the ship sinks. No one is going to give a damn who is on the ship. One cannot say that the story has proven him right, for sure.

To convince him, he spoke wonders of Anderson: “This guy, this director, is going to be one of the most talented in some time, and you shouldn’t miss this opportunity”. That said, he was right, but DiCaprio wanted to continue with Titanic because his agents convinced him that he had to do something big. “I’m telling you, man, I’m telling you, I wouldn’t lie to you. It’s about a ship that sinks,” Reilly insisted.

In the end, Mark Wahlberg starred in Boogie Nights and gave an incredible performance, while DiCaprio would eventually team up with Paul Thomas Anderson in the fabulous The Master. In the end, as is not often the case in Hollywood, everyone came out winning.
