Skyblivion, the ambitious project by the modding community that aims to recreate the classic video game Oblivion using the Skyrim engine, has been the focus of attention due to its prolonged development that has already surpassed a decade. Initially scheduled for release in late 2025, the team has postponed its launch to sometime in 2026, with possibilities of an extension to 2027, which has raised concerns among its followers.

A highly anticipated remake, but it will cost him

Under the direction of Kyle “Rebelzize,” the project urgently requires the support of experienced modders in specific areas such as user interface development, visual effects, and level design. Rebelzize has called on the community through Nexus Mods, emphasizing that he is only looking for collaborators with advanced skills due to the complexity of the pending work.

The world of Cyrodiil, along with several of its important cities like Skingrad, Chorrol, and Bruma, has advanced considerably; however, the Imperial City and the user interface remain critical points that need attention. Additionally, it has been confirmed that certain elements, such as underwater combat and the spell creation system, have been removed from the initial launch, although they may be available in future updates.

Since its announcement, Skyblivion has faced the additional challenge of the sudden release of Oblivion Remastered, which has raised doubts about the future of the mod. Despite this, the TESRenewal team remains convinced that their approach is different. Skyblivion is presented as a remake that transfers all elements of Oblivion to the Skyrim engine, in contrast to the remaster that retains the original systems with graphical enhancements.

The developers of Skyblivion have stated that they will continue to refine and expand the mod even after its release, promising fixes and additional content. The fan community will need to be patient while the team works to complete this ambitious project.

Although the graphical performance is somewhat unstable, the videos circulating on YouTube show robust combat and well-designed environments, such as the iconic streets of Tatooine. Players can choose from different classes and weapons, adding depth to the gameplay.

A game with a unique style

The cancellation of games by Disney has left a negative mark on the community of developers and fans. Many were eagerly awaiting First Assault as part of a series of promising releases that never saw the light of day. According to statements from designer Patrick Wren, the game was canceled less than 24 hours before it was supposed to be announced, highlighting the frustration the community feels over decisions that could have allowed for satisfying gaming experiences.

Now, thanks to the hard work of the modders, what was lost seems to be resurfacing in a way that, although imperfect, allows players to relive a piece of Star Wars history. Moreover, this situation raises questions about the legality of such efforts and the stance that Disney might take on the matter, as it remains the owner of the license. Undoubtedly, the story of First Assault is a reminder that even in cancellation there are opportunities for innovation and the revitalization of forgotten projects.

A modder has already managed to run Doom in Hytale… even though it hasn't been released yet

Hytale, the highly anticipated open-world adventure and role-playing game, has been developed by a team made up of modders and members of the Minecraft community, which gives it a deep capacity for modification. This approach has allowed some fans to explore the possibilities that the game has to offer before its official release, scheduled for 2024.

A game so customizable that it runs Doom

One of the most surprising achievements comes from the modder known as ‘tr7zw’, who has managed to make Doom run inside Hytale before the game is available to the public. Using a mod called Landmark, which facilitates fast travel within Hytale, tr7zw has adapted a complete port in Java of the classic from 1993, allowing the legendary shooter to operate within the new environment.

The mod, although innovative, has certain limitations. Tr7zw has commented that the experience is somewhat rudimentary, with a rate of 20 frames per second and a noticeable input lag. “It feels a bit like a broken keyboard,” explained the modder, reflecting the challenges of running such an iconic game on an unconventional platform.

This phenomenon is not new within the gamer community, which has documented countless attempts to run Doom on various and strange platforms, from the BIOS of a motherboard to Lego toys. Hytale, with its modular design, has proven to be an addition to this long list of successes in the field of modification.

With each new achievement in the modification of Hytale, the anticipation for its release grows. Many wonder what else the modders will be able to achieve once the game is in the hands of the public. In the meantime, the curious can follow the community updates and eagerly await the arrival of this innovative title.

Fallout 4 is approaching its tenth anniversary and the player community remains active, keeping alive the spirit of Bethesda’s iconic post-apocalyptic RPG. Although the Anniversary Edition left many with a bittersweet taste, a new fan project has caused a stir: Misery Island, a massive and free expansion created by modders Tenhats and Shreddah4. This expansion promises to offer players a renewed experience with a new coastal area, quests, settlements, and nostalgic mechanics inspired by the classic entries in the franchise.

Fans Doing the Work of Developers

According to its creators, Misery Island will transport players to a fictional archipelago off the coast of Salem, inspired by two real islands in New England. What used to be a serene vacation destination has transformed into a devastated territory, perfectly fitting the dark tone of the Fallout 4 world.

Misery Island stands out not only for its atmosphere but also for the amount of content it offers: more than 20 new locations, two new settlements, weapons, armor, clothing, and unique items. It also features a new radio station and a system that will allow players to restore the ruins of the island. To add a touch of nostalgia, classic Fallout mechanics have been revived, such as skill checks and weapon schematics, all accompanied by missions specifically designed for this expansion.

To access Misery Island, it is necessary to have the Far Harbor DLC installed. Once players install the mod and start the game, they will automatically receive a mission upon reaching level 25, although they can also travel directly to the island from an abandoned plane north of the Boston airport. This expansion represents the second chapter of the project by Tenhats and Shreddah4, who had already impressed with their previous work on Boon Island.

Baldur's Gate 3 continues to receive content, this time recovering a deleted scene that humanizes one of its most peculiar characters

A new mod for Baldur’s Gate 3 has sparked interest in the community by restoring a deleted scene featuring an exchange between Withers, the undead steward, and the Tiefling girl, Arabella. This mod was created by YouTuber SlimX, who discovered the dialogue through “a simple scripting adjustment.” Available for free on his Patreon, the modification allows players to explore a more human side of Withers that is not seen in the final product.

A mod that gives more personality to a very particular character

The scene in question reveals the origin of the nickname “Bone Man,” which Arabella gives to Withers. During the interaction, the girl jokes with him, establishing a fun relationship and a notable contrast to the tragedy that Arabella faces throughout the game. “With Withers, I can’t remember his name, so I’ll call him ‘Bone Man’!” says Arabella, highlighting her sense of humor. With a carefree tone, the little girl also compares Withers to her grandfather, adding a touch of tenderness to the dynamic.

However, the reason behind the removal of this scene is still unclear: it could have been a programming error or an intentional decision. Still, some speculate that the inclusion of humor could be disturbing before the tragic revelation that Arabella’s parents have passed away. The transition from a playful moment to a dramatic one may have been considered too abrupt for the narrative.

Regardless of the reasons behind its removal, this mod offers fans a new perspective on a character that might otherwise seem like a mere support in the story. With this restored material, players can better appreciate the emotional complexity surrounding Withers and his relationship with Arabella, providing additional context to one of the darkest aspects of the game.

The REPO study is clear: they want you to add mods to their game

The development team of the video game REPO has issued a call to mod creators to optimize the amount of traffic they generate on the game’s servers. The REPO study is clear: they want you to add mods to their game

The development team of the video game REPO has issued a call to mod creators to optimize the amount of traffic they generate on the game’s servers. In a recent Q&A video, the semiwork developers expressed their appreciation for the creativity of the modding community but emphasized the importance of avoiding excessive operational cost increases. “We encourage mods. It’s very fun to see how players add their own personality to our game,” they commented, insisting on the need to control the traffic that these generate.

This notice arises especially in the context of mods that increase the player limit beyond the maximum of six, which has caused problems in other games. In the past, similar initiatives led to the shutdown of certain mods, as they increased the demand on the servers. Developers are aware that adding more players can be overwhelming, complicating communication and game dynamics, which can affect the overall experience.

Mods yes, but with responsibility

Despite these warnings, the semiwork team supports the creation of mods that do not compromise server performance. There are examples of mods that enrich the gaming experience without overloading resources, such as the MoreHeadPlus mod, which introduces a wide range of cosmetics for robots, allowing players to experiment with fun and creative looks.

With this approach, developers hope to balance the creativity of the modding community and the stability of REPO servers. Although the game has been a resounding success, the semiwork team remains a small indie studio with limited resources. The hope is that modders take this request seriously to maintain a fun and sustainable gaming experience in the future.
