Shirley Curry, known by her nickname “Skyrim Grandma,” has decided to end a decade of content about Skyrim on her YouTube channel, amassing over a million followers. In a recent video, Curry announced that she will no longer upload videos of the popular role-playing game, expressing that she feels worn out and that the experience of creating content has stopped being enjoyable for her.
Farewell, grandmother of Skyrim
This is not the first time Curry has taken a step back; last year, she made a similar announcement, although she later returned to play. However, this time it seems that her decision is definitive. The content creator mentions that her audience has changed, with most of her followers being young children, which prevents her from getting the meaningful feedback she desires. “I only receive comments like ‘Hi, grandma, I love you,’ which is not what I expected when I uploaded my videos”, Curry shared.
Despite stopping uploading Skyrim videos, Curry will continue to communicate with his followers through vlogs aimed at a more mature audience, including teenagers and adults. He also suggested that fans continue to enjoy his content through a Skyrim mod that allows them to interact with his character in the game.
Curry has dedicated herself to sharing her love for video games, but now, on the verge of turning 90, she feels that the fun she used to find in Skyrim has diminished. “Every time I create a new way to play, I get bored again. That’s why I’ve decided to stop uploading related content”, concluded the famous streamer, hinting that the generational shift in her audience has influenced her decision. In the meantime, there remains hope that, after a well-deserved break, she might reconsider her return to the world of Tamriel in the future.
