Ten years have passed, but now, finally, no one is working on ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ anymore

And now, finally, at CD Projekt they have decided that it is finished completely. It was about time.

‘Cyberpunk 2077’ has been a constant roller coaster ride since its announcement, with Keanu Reeves creating a live meme and generating a lot of discussion: from the hype of its trailers to the disappointment of its release, with the game full of bugs, to the hope of seeing things getting fixed with successive patches until finally reaching its best version. And now, finally, CD Projekt has decided that it is completely finished. It’s about time.

They are no longer in cyber-works

It has only been four years since the release of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’, in the midst of a pandemic, and although there are some workers who are already dedicating themselves to giving the first touches to its sequel (called ‘Orion’ as a working title), the truth is that there is no longer anyone supervising the original game. Unless a catastrophe suddenly occurs, the game is more than finished.

It has been a path of thorns rather than roses, but the story of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ and how it managed to go from the landfill to recognition is one that will go down in history books. Even its first DLC, ‘Phantom Liberty’, delighted the public and captivated the critics. It’s not easy to change so many opinions when everyone has decided to bleed their next victim.

Devastating criticisms have turned into praises, the game’s rough style and its bugs have transformed into visual beauty, and suddenly, the audience is once again open to a possible sequel and to that universe opening up again through movies, television, comics, and video games. Now, it only remains for all the workers who have left ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ in search of greener pastures to be on board once again.

“Phantom Liberty” has been a success beyond CD Projekt’s expectations

Phantom Liberty has been a success beyond CD Projekt’s expectations, making the studio’s security with Cyberpunk 2077 grow

CD Projekt seems to turn everything they touch into gold. Whether we like it more or less, whether the outcome is better or worse, the truth is that the sales of all their games have been excellent since they created a little game called “The Witcher.” And that hasn’t changed. Even with the release of Cyberpunk 2077, a game riddled with bugs and far from what was promised, they managed to achieve incredible sales. What wouldn’t they achieve if the game worked well and delivered at least part of what was promised?

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DOWNLOAD

CD Projekt has unveiled the sales figures for “Phantom Liberty,” the expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, which, as expected, have been remarkably notable. Especially considering how well the original game performed.

During its first week, Phantom Liberty sold three million copies across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. Now, CD Projekt states that, after two months on the market, the expansion has already sold 4.3 million copies. This has led Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt, to affirm that it reinforces their plans to continue developing the franchise in the near future.

As Kiciński himself recently explained, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold nearly 25 million copies worldwide since its launch in December 2020. This means that, despite its questionable state upon release and delivering less than promised, it has sold much faster than The Witcher 3 did at its time, making Cyberpunk 2077 a resounding success despite the problems it has faced over time.

This trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. After all, CD Projekt has announced the release of Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on December 5th, an edition of the game that will include the Phantom Liberty expansion, available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. Therefore, it’s expected that the spectacular sales figures of Cyberpunk 2077 will only continue to grow in the future.

The autumn Steam offers have arrived: we’ll tell you about the best deals

The autumn Steam offers have arrived: we tell you the best deals, so you don’t miss any of the best offers on video games

We know you’re busy with Black Friday. That you’re scrutinizing every discount, that no offer less than the best will do. But trust us. Steam has started its autumn sales, and there are deals worth considering. Even if they’re not the biggest bargains you’ve ever seen in your life. Just good deals. A good bargain. The best deal you’ll be offered for the remainder of the year. And we’re going to convince you of that.

Cyberpunk 2077 (€29.99 / -50%)

For many people, 2023 will be the year when CD Projekt finally fixed Cyberpunk 2077. Why not join the celebration? At half price, it offers us, for the cost of its DLC, dozens of hours of a game that now works as it always should have. Do you have another 30 euros in your pocket? You have their DLC, Phantom Liberty, which adds another many hours of content. If not, by the time you finish this, it’ll probably be 50% off in the next sales.

The Silver Case (€5.99 / -70%)

Maybe you’ve already had your fill of Cyberpunk 2077. Perhaps your taste in video games leans less towards the mainstream. If that’s the case, you’re not alone. “The Silver Case” isn’t just the game that marked the debut of a legend like SUDA51; it’s also an avant-garde visual novel that, to this day, remains incredibly smart, unsettling, groundbreaking, and experimental. All this without forsaking the decadent and ‘no future’ tone that many anticipated from Cyberpunk.

Supergiant Collection (€34.86 / -71%)

“Hades” was the 2020 Game of the Year. So why not grab all the games from the studio? “Bastion” is a marvel that encapsulates everything that “Hades” would develop later on, “Transistor” evolves from that formula, and “Pyre” lays the groundwork for attractive characters and tragic narratives that would make “Hades” popular. All this at a 71% discount. Haven’t convinced you? Well, then there’s always “Hades” at a 50% discount.

Dead Space (€29.99 / -50%)

We won’t hide it: we didn’t have high hopes for this remake. We thought the original, while not perfect, hadn’t aged in a way that a remake could do it justice. But it seems we were wrong. If you want to play one of the most terrifying and visually spectacular games of the year, you can get it at half price, with just as much terror.

El Paso, Elsewhere (€15.60 / -20%)

If it weren’t for 2023 being a year packed with great games, “El Paso, Elsewhere” would have sneaked into more than one or two Game of the Year nominations. Resurrecting the formula of classic Max Payne games with a tale of breakup between a vampire hunter and a vampire, it draws from Twin Peaks, from Max Payne, from all those times your heart’s been broken, to craft a game with short but excellent levels. All to tell a compelling story with the best shooting mechanics of the year.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (€12.49 / -75%)

There’s no better way to wrap things up than with a heavyweight. In this case, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition comes with a 75% discount, nearly hitting the 10 euro mark. And what does it offer? Dozens of hours, a marvelous open world, a protagonist you can’t help but love, and the knowledge that its sequel will arrive on PC sooner rather than later. A game where, if you enjoy adventure, action, or open-world games even a bit, you can’t go wrong.
