The recent presentation of the Steam Machine has made it clear that, although its power does not compare to that of the PS5 or Xbox Series X, its main strength lies in the Steam store and its mature development tools.

Over the years, Steam has proven to be an ideal environment for independent developers to launch their games, facilitating access to a large audience without the restrictions traditionally imposed by other platforms.

This ease of publishing has allowed numerous indie titles to go viral on the platform, something that PS5 and Xbox often only enjoy after a late access.

Gaming moves forward when players and developers have more ways to play and create, especially across open platforms. Expanding access across PC, console, and handheld devices reflects a future built on choice, core values that have guided Xbox's vision from the start. As one of… https://t.co/Z9lDCZz1my

Microsoft offers up to 88% revenue share to developers

Aware of the criticism received regarding the bureaucracy in its publishing system, Microsoft has decided to address this issue by making its ‘Xbox Game Publishing Guide’ public for the first time in over two decades.

According to Ed Stewart from Microsoft, the opening of this documentation will remove learning barriers and make it easier for developers of all sizes to understand the process needed to launch a game on Xbox. The removal of the previously necessary NDAs is a significant step aimed at improving the publishing experience and increasing developer engagement.

Additionally, Microsoft has implemented improvements in its revenue share in the Xbox PC store, allowing developers to receive up to 88% of the profits, compared to the usual standard of 70%. This initiative is increasingly aligning Microsoft’s efforts with those of Steam, seeking a more open and less laborious environment for game publishing.

Microsoft has also shared that its documentation will be continuously updated to reflect the latest regulations and processes, with the hope of fostering a greater amount of content and creation on its platforms.

With these moves, Microsoft shows its commitment to addressing the needs of independent developers, aiming to make the publishing experience much more accessible and seamless.

ASUS has indicated in a meeting with investors that it expects the Xbox Ally range to generate between 96 and 160 million dollars in sales just this quarter, which points to a positive reception in the market.

Doubts and advantages of the Xbox ROG Ally

However, despite the positive reception, various usability issues have been identified that could affect the performance of the Xbox Ally in the real world. Among the mentioned problems are the typical inconveniences associated with PCs, such as Windows firewall pop-ups when starting online games, which could detract from the appeal for gamers seeking a smoother and more user-friendly experience.

In addition, the company admitted to having underestimated the demand for the high-end model, the Xbox Ally X, which has an initial price of 999 dollars. ASUS is working to increase the production of this model due to the high demand, which has already exceeded expectations. The Xbox Ally aims to become a cornerstone within ASUS’s gaming portfolio.

CORRECTION:

Asus said the Xbox ROG Ally X handheld has seen high demand and is in short supply.

Expects to generate NT$ 3 to 5 billion ($96m – $160m) in sales from its Ally line this quarter, stabilizing at around NT$ 4 to 5 billion each quarter ($130m – $160m).

Microsoft also has ambitious plans for the future, such as the full integration of its Windows operating system into the next generation of Xbox. This will allow for a more controlled and optimized experience for gamers. At the same time, the company is considering opening the Xbox ecosystem to other hardware manufacturers (OEMs) to create similar devices, which could revolutionize the market, just like Steam with its Steam OS.

Despite the criticism and challenges regarding game publishing, which is more complicated on Xbox than on other platforms, the Xbox Ally seems to be charting a new course in Microsoft’s offering in the field of portable video games.

The coming years will be crucial for the video game industry, which is facing a prolonged crisis. In this context, the major companies in the sector are revealing their plans for the next generation of consoles. One of the most notable announcements is from Valve, which has introduced the Steam Machine, a device that promises to compete with next-generation consoles like the PS5 and the upcoming Xbox.

Do you think it’s positive to have competition

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, celebrated the launch of Steam Machine through a message on Twitter, highlighting the importance of offering diverse gaming options and the openness of platforms. Spencer emphasized that “gaming advances when there are more ways to play,” noting that Xbox has positioned itself as one of the largest publishers on Steam by releasing multiple titles annually.

The Steam Machine is a mini-PC designed for 4K gaming with SteamOS, surpassing the Steam Deck in power with performance described as six times greater. On the other hand, the new Xbox is shaping up to be a high-end product, with an estimated price between 800 and 1000 euros and a unified experience thanks to the Game Pass service. Both devices are aimed at the same players looking to game comfortably from the living room.

Despite the competition in hardware, Valve and Microsoft also maintain a collaboration that benefits users through game releases on Steam, which has been essential for enhancing the gaming experience. However, the future of these platforms will depend on the performance they can offer, especially in the multiplayer realm, where Windows has an advantage in terms of compatibility and anti-cheat functionality.

The battle for the console and PC market is intensifying, but the real question is how these advancements will benefit players in terms of options and prices.

The director of Bethesda confirms that the sequel to Skyrim is still in development, but that patience is a virtue

The director of Bethesda, Todd Howard, recently confirmed that the development of The Elder Scrolls VI is still ongoing, although he asked fans for patience, emphasizing that the game is still “very far away.” This statement has sparked an increase in speculation about the progress of the highly anticipated title since its announcement in 2018 during E3, where a brief trailer was shown that generated great excitement among the franchise’s followers.

We are not going to see her soon

The announcement of Elder Scrolls VI was part of a broader strategy by Bethesda to showcase its future projects, including Starfield, which has been the studio’s main focus in recent years. Howard emphasized that this announcement was made early to clarify that the sequel to Skyrim was in development, but its release would only occur after Starfield.

After Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda, in a deal valued at $7.5 billion, the value that the company places on its most iconic franchises, such as Elder Scrolls and Fallout, is highlighted. However, it has been revealed that ZeniMax was overvalued at $10.5 billion, 29% more than what Microsoft paid, indicating a valuation strategy focused on its game catalog.

Despite the criticism for the lack of concrete information about Elder Scrolls VI, the initial announcement achieved its goal of attracting interest and potential buyers before the acquisition. Expectations and speculation continue to grow around a title that could once again redefine the role-playing game genre, although its release is not expected in the short term.

This RPG promises that you can play it however you want, but its players are discovering that it's not so easy if you want to do it in a pacifist way

Players of The Outer Worlds 2 have encountered an unexpected obstacle in their attempt to approach the game from a pacifist perspective. While the original title allowed players to complete the adventure without causing deaths, the new chapter seems to have included a main mission that limits this possibility. According to a user identified as Towrads in a Reddit post, the difficulty of maintaining a non-violent approach becomes evident in a crucial mission of the game, where it is imperative to eliminate two snipers to progress in the story.

Not killing anyone is complicated

The central feature of The Outer Worlds 2 is its flexibility, allowing players to experience the adventure as they see fit, including pacifist options. Although the developers at Obsidian Entertainment built upon a legacy that enabled this style of play, new challenges have left enthusiasts searching for solutions. Some players have attempted creative maneuvers, such as provoking enemies to damage each other, but so far, these efforts have not achieved the desired outcome due to the ineffectiveness of their tactics.

The mission in question requires the elimination of enemies with no viable alternatives. While some mechs on the scene can be disabled without bloodshed, the situation becomes complicated with the presence of snipers, who must be eliminated to progress. The lack of alternative routes and the complete failure of non-lethal tactics have sparked a conversation within the community about the need for adjustments from Obsidian.

Players hope that the studio takes note of this situation and considers implementing changes that allow for more pacifist alternatives, so that those who wish to avoid violence can fully enjoy The Outer Worlds 2. In the meantime, the community remains active in seeking creative solutions to this dilemma.

In the last two years, Microsoft has made questionable decisions regarding its subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, which has affected its popularity despite an overall improvement in the catalog.

One of the most criticized changes has been the significant increase in subscription price, which has generated discontent among users.

Recently, Microsoft has confirmed that four titles will leave the service on November 16: Frostpunk, Football Manager 2024, Spirittea, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

STALKER 2 got announced in 2020 at the Xbox Showcase in August.

STALKER 2 took 4 years to develop beyond announcement and officially dropped in November 2024.

STALKER 2 will leave Xbox Game Pass in November 2025.

I think it’s a really bad precedent that a game stays shorter in… https://t.co/TZg486uoeg

— Kloot (@ZakkenKloot) November 2, 2025

Game Pass, the most criticized service in the world

This situation is particularly crucial for those players who have invested time in these titles, as it is recommended that they finish their games before the release date, since this affects both console and PC versions.

The case of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is remarkable, as despite having a problematic launch a year ago, the game has established itself as a sales success.

The title is expected to be relaunched on PlayStation 5 on November 20 with improvements and additional content, just as it leaves the Game Pass catalog. Those who wish to purchase S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 can benefit from a 20% discount before it leaves the service, bringing the price down to 47.99 euros.

It is relevant to mention that players who purchase any of the titles that are about to be released from Game Pass will be able to recover their progress, as the saved games will remain in their account. This aspect allows for a smoother transition for users who wish to continue their gaming experience without losing their progress.

In a crucial month for Xbox and Microsoft, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, reaffirmed that Xbox’s competition does not lie in rival consoles like PlayStation, but in content platforms like TikTok. During an interview with TBPN, Nadella emphasized that players’ attention spans are becoming increasingly fragmented due to the proliferation of social media and streaming services, forcing the industry to innovate in production, distribution, and financing to remain relevant in a broader entertainment ecosystem.

From Console Wars to Technology Wars

Likewise, Nadella stated that the next generation of Xbox will be more integrated with Windows, making it easier to run games across multiple platforms, including Steam and Epic Games. This strategy aligns with Microsoft’s goal of making Xbox a cross-platform brand that makes its games accessible on various platforms, such as consoles, PCs, mobile devices, cloud services, and even televisions.

The decision to adopt an approach that seeks to “be everywhere” in terms of publishing is supported by the recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which has positioned Microsoft as the largest video game publisher in the world. “We want players to enjoy our games wherever they are”, concluded Nadella, reinforcing a trend that Microsoft has been pushing for some time: the expansion beyond traditional hardware and the redefinition of the gaming experience on Xbox.

Nadella’s and Matt Booty’s comments, head of Xbox Game Studios, highlight a more ambitious strategy for the company’s future, where the focus will be on creating an inclusive ecosystem that transcends the physical limitations of consoles. With the next Xbox on the horizon, rumors suggest it could be a hybrid console, capable of integrating various platforms under a single gaming experience, which could have a significant impact on the way we enjoy video games.

In a remarkable turn in Xbox’s strategy, Microsoft’s division has begun to release flagship titles such as Grounded, Pentiment, Forza Horizon 5, and Gears of War on competing platforms like PS5 and Nintendo Switch. This move redefines the concept of exclusives in the video game industry, which has traditionally been marked by rivalry between consoles. By allowing these games to be available on different platforms, Xbox aims not only to expand its audience but also to transform the competitive dynamics in the sector.

Don’t expect exclusive games for your Xbox

Sarah Bond, president of Xbox, highlighted in a recent interview with Mashable that this strategy represents a radical approach to the future of the company. Bond explains that they are breaking away from the conventions that have defined the industry for years, which indicates a desire to adapt to a world where players seek more accessibility and varied options.

This multiplatform trend is not exclusive to Xbox. Sony has also begun to release several of its titles on PC, although Microsoft’s proposal is considered bolder in its ambition. The intention is to position Xbox as an entertainment company that transcends the limitations of a single console, aligning with the growing preferences of consumers who value flexibility and integration across devices.

Despite this strategy that highlights openness, Bond has also confirmed that work is underway on a new Xbox console for the next generation. This new hardware promises to deliver a “very premium and high-end experience,” suggesting that the company remains committed to developing advanced technology while not abandoning its cross-platform model.

Eric Kripke, the creator of the successful Amazon series, The Boys, has confirmed in a recent interview that there are plans to develop a video game based on the franchise. However, the project is not intended for consoles at this time. Kripke indicated that, while there is a desire to create a game for platforms like Xbox or PlayStation, there are still no concrete plans. “There are plans for other types of video games that are not necessarily console-based”, he commented.

Superheroes, now playable!

To date, the characters from The Boys have appeared in renowned titles like Call of Duty and Mortal Kombat, but there hasn’t been a game dedicated exclusively to the series. The universe created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson is full of powerful characters and unique abilities, suggesting a strong potential for an engaging video game, especially given the irreverent and comedic tone of the series.

In addition to the video game, The Boys has expanded its universe with several spin-off series. Gen V, for example, recently concluded its second season, while the production of The Boys: Mexico and a prequel titled Vought Rising, set in the 1950s, is expected. The main series is scheduled to return with its fifth and final season in 2026.

Amazon, which produces The Boys in collaboration with Sony, has proven to be a significant player in the video game industry. Although the development of a dedicated video game has not yet been finalized, the combination of a rich world, complex characters, and the popularity of the series puts The Boys in a favorable position for a future in the realm of video games.
