Xbox continues to enhance the gaming experience with a series of updates focused on both PC and cloud, while introducing new benefits for Game Pass subscribers. The company has released an update that allows members of Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass to unlock cosmetics and virtual currency in free-to-play titles like Heroes of the Storm and Naraka: Bladepoint. Additionally, new rewards are expected in April for games like Warzone and Enlisted.
Small improvements for an already interesting service
In the realm of cloud gaming, Xbox Cloud Gaming implements a more intuitive navigation that will allow players to switch between different titles without leaving a gaming session. This functionality will debut with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, thus offering a smoother and more connected experience. Additionally, the catalog of games available for streaming has been expanded, now including new titles like Party Animals and Gotham Knights, among others.
The March update also focuses on improving the Game Bar interface on PC, making it more accessible and intuitive, and adds themed wallpapers to customize the user experience. Outside the digital realm, Microsoft has launched the Xbox Adaptive Joystick, an inclusive controller designed to enhance accessibility among gamers.
On the other hand, some users of the Xbox Insider Program are testing a new feature called Game Hub, which will allow them to see detailed information about games before starting a match. This tool is in the testing phase and could include data such as pending achievements and friends’ activity. It is speculated that this functionality could be integrated into Game Pass, showing additional benefits and exclusive content for subscribers.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the latest title from BioWare, has not met the commercial expectations that Electronic Arts had projected. Despite being part of one of the most recognized franchises in the fantasy RPG genre, the game has had disappointing performance, leaving many players dissatisfied with its offering. This situation has led to it being considered a failure for EA, which hoped it would become a milestone within the genre.
Very clear signs that it could arrive soon on the Xbox service
To facilitate access and expand its audience, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is now available on the PS Plus Essential subscription, which is not a good indicator for a AAA game. Additionally, the title has started to appear in the PC Game Pass store, suggesting it may be coming to the platform in the near future. Through EA Play, which is part of PC Game Pass Ultimate, players also have access to a demo of the game, which could help attract new players.
On March 20, BioWare released a free DLC for PC consumers, which includes temporary weapon cosmetics for the character Rook. However, this content will only be available to those who purchase the game before April 9, 2025. To boost its presence in the market, Dragon Age: The Veilguard also features an attractive 50% discount in the Valve store, bringing its price on Steam to €29.99.
With these moves, EA and BioWare seem to be looking for new strategies to regain ground and rekindle interest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Although the game has received mixed reviews, the effort to ensure its accessibility suggests that the developers are determined to improve the experience and its overall reception among RPG fans.

The overall tone among fans is one of great anticipation regarding what Blue Prince will bring when it is fully available.
In addition to its launch on PlayStation Plus, Blue Prince will also be available on Game Pass from day one, further expanding its accessibility for a variety of players. With other major releases this year, such as Grand Theft Auto VI and Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Blue Prince”seems to be positioning itself as a strong contender, despite not having been in the media spotlight until now.
The comments regarding the quality of the game, its mechanics, and the atmosphere it promises have led many to consider that it could become one of the great successes of the year. As the release date approaches, the excitement for the game only seems to grow, leaving many with positive expectations for their gaming experience.

The video game industry continues to be in a state of constant evolution, with a resurgence of interest in portable consoles in recent years. It has been confirmed that Microsoft is working on a portable console internally known as Project Kennan, which is expected to be announced soon and launched during the summer. Manufactured by ASUS, this new console could range in price from 499 to 599 dollars.
A console that seeks to leverage its integration with the Xbox system
The console will seek to unify the gaming experience on Windows and Xbox, creating a universal game library accessible on portable devices. The interface of Project Kennan will resemble that of Xbox consoles, making for a smoother and less complex user experience compared to a traditional operating system. However, although the console will be powered by Windows, it will not allow playing Xbox Series titles, but only those included in the Xbox Play Anywhere program.
Microsoft intends to use this collaboration with ASUS as a way to gather market information and adjust its strategy before the launch of its own handheld console, which is still several years away. This dual approach not only saves time and costs but also allows Microsoft to benefit from ASUS’s expertise in the field of handheld consoles, as seen with the ASUS ROG Ally.
Additionally, the company is focused on improving its cloud gaming service, Xbox Cloud Gaming, to provide smoother and higher quality access to its games, competing with platforms like NVIDIA GeForce Now. In this context, an artificial intelligence called Muse is under development, aimed at optimizing the video game creation process and accelerating production cycles. However, there is skepticism among developers regarding the effectiveness of this AI in the industry.

There has not been a significant update for Starfield since November 2024, which has led the gaming community to an anxious wait for news. While some players are sharing ship designs or expressing frustrations about paid mods, others are calling on the developers to improve communication about the future of the title.
A communication problem, not that there is nothing in the oven
The Starfield team, in response to fans’ concerns on Twitter, has committed to working on new planned content for this year. “We greatly appreciate your passion for Starfield,” the official account stated, adding that while they are not ready to share specific details yet, they have many exciting things on the way. This acknowledgment of the lack of information has been received by the community as a slight ray of hope, even though it is not a concrete announcement.
Last October, the first major expansion of the game was released, known as Starfield Shattered Space. However, it received mixed reviews, being considered disappointing and not fully addressing the weaknesses of the base game. Expectations for future updates are high, and players continue to wish for the team to communicate more regularly about the upcoming changes and content.
On the other hand, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has mentioned that Starfield could be available on other platforms, including the PS5. This possibility opens new opportunities for the franchise, although the community remains focused on the content expected for this year. Meanwhile, fans continue to seek alternatives to satisfy their appetite for sci-fi adventures until official news about Starfield arrives. And some industry giants keep singing its praises.

On March 14, Xbox Game Pass will say goodbye to eight renowned titles, marking a regrettable date for subscribers of Microsoft’s service. Among the games that will no longer be available are Lies of P, Evil West, Solar Ash, No More Heroes 3, and MLB The Show 24, as well as two installments of the popular Yakuza series. This departure represents a significant loss, especially for fans of the Yakuza series, which has an active and growing fanbase.
Lies of P, an action role-playing game that has been praised since its release, stands as the biggest service drop. With its own additional content on the way, players who wish to enjoy this experience must hurry or bear the cost of acquiring it after its removal. Alongside it, Evil West, which has been rated as an action title with a classic style, will also become unavailable, leaving many users with a notable gap in their library.
A good catalog still, but there are notable losses
The month of March promises a dramatic atmosphere for Xbox Game Pass users, although quality titles will still remain in the catalog. However, the farewell of these games, which many were hoping to play at some point, could force users to play hastily or to get their copies before they disappear from the service.
Those who are searching on Xbox Game Pass, must keep in mind that time is running out to enjoy these games, especially those who have not had the opportunity to explore the intriguing and immersive universes they offer. The imminent arrival of new seasons and updates suggests that this month will be crucial for gaming enthusiasts on the platform.

The multiplayer of Call of Duty has established itself as a pillar in the realm of competitive shooters, attracting millions of active players month after month, both in Warzone and Black Ops 6. However, the community has raised its voice against skill-based matchmaking, known as SBMM, which has generated criticism over the past few years. This system, designed to balance matches by grouping players of similar levels, has been considered problematic by many.
An algorithm that does not generate satisfaction among players
Charlie Olsen, creator of the SBMM algorithm, admitted in a recent interview that this system not only negatively affects the gaming experience but also punishes more skilled players. According to Olsen, “SBMM removes the feeling of progress and mastery” and emphasizes that the importance of statistics, such as the kill ratio, is drastically reduced. This has led to a perception of unfairness among more skilled players, who feel that their efforts to improve are punished with tougher opponents.
At the end of 2023, Activision has been opening the door to possible changes in the SBMM, although an experiment conducted earlier determined that this system is effective in maintaining player interest. However, the changes being considered could influence how players perceive their progress and enjoy the experience. Critics argue that the current SBMM setup not only limits feedback on skills but also concerns those looking to improve their game.
With such a large ecosystem of players, it remains to be seen whether Activision will adopt an approach that reconciles the community’s complaints with the game’s sustainability needs. The conversation about SBMM continues to grow, and players are eagerly awaiting to see how the company will respond to their concerns in the near future. Something that is expected to be substantial, given the recent controversies surrounding the game.

Balatro, an innovative card game launched in 2024, has surprised the gaming community since its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass. This title has quickly gained popularity, standing out not only for its attractive design and addictive gameplay, but also for being nominated in the prestigious The Game Awards, where it reached the finals competing with well-known titles like Astro Bot, although it ultimately did not win the award.
The concept of Balatro is simple yet captivating: players must pick up and drop cards to reach a specific goal, which becomes increasingly complex and entertaining as they progress in the game. Players face challenges in different hands, and if they fail to meet the objectives, they might find themselves restarting from the beginning, adding an element of tension and excitement that encourages them to keep trying. This design has made it a viral phenomenon today.
Balatro is receiving great support after its launch
Recently, Balatro has received an additional boost with the release of Pack 4, titled Friends of Jimbo, which includes characters from various iconic video games, allowing players to further customize their cards. Among the available characters are figures from titles such as Bugsnax, Critical Role, Assassin’s Creed, and Fallout, which is sure to attract a wide variety of fans.
Another interesting news is the recent reduction of the age rating for Balatro from +18 to 12 years, given that the game lacks violence, sexual content, or inappropriate language. This revision will allow a broader audience to enjoy this title without restrictions, facilitating its access on consoles, mobile devices, and computers. With this, Balatro not only positions itself as an excellent card game but also as an option for younger players.
In 2016, the collaboration between Universal and Activision Blizzard brought the movie Warcraft to the big screen, based on the popular video game World of Warcraft. In 2016, the collaboration between Universal and Activision Blizzard brought the movie Warcraft to the big screen, based on the popular video game World of Warcraft. Although the movie grossed $47.4 million in the United States and $439.1 million worldwide, its reception was lukewarm, and former Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has described Warcraft as “one of the worst movies he has ever seen”. Kotick has pointed out that the production of the film turned out to be a significant distraction for Blizzard, causing delays in expansions and updates for the game.
Bobby Kotick is not a fan of the Warcraft movie
During an appearance on the Grit podcast, Kotick reflected on the impact that the movie had on the development team, mentioning that veteran designer Chris Metzen left Blizzard in 2016 due to burnout caused by the production of the feature film. Kotick expressed that the idea of making the movie was “terrible,” considering that it affected the quality and delivery time of the games, as many employees were distracted with tasks related to the filming, such as casting and production.
Despite Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, it has been confirmed that World of Warcraft will not be available on Game Pass, which has surprised some fans of the game. However, the title will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024, and there are no signs that its development is coming to an end. The community remains hopeful, despite past controversies and changes in the studio’s direction.
Since Metzen returned to Blizzard in 2022, Kotick has mentioned that they have barely kept in touch. When asked what he could teach him about game design, he is cautious, reflecting the complexity of the relationship between creatives and management in the entertainment industry.
Xbox is no longer a platform with exclusives. It’s something we must accept. Where we used to expect its new titles to appear exclusively for its console and PC, now we must expect them to also appear on other consoles. It’s inevitable. And in a way, it’s positive. That means there are no more barriers and we can enjoy games wherever we want. But this also leaves us with a specific question. Will this be positive for Xbox? For PlayStation, the answer is yes. Why is it important to listen to Sony? Listening to its main competitor at this […]
Listening to their main competitor in this regard may seem tricky. No one is more interested in not having competition than they are, right? But this is not exactly the case. To begin with, what Sony can gain from the strategy change, more games, is much less than what they can lose, a strategy change that can make consoles obsolete by focusing everything on services like GamePass. Something that makes it interesting to listen to them when, against all odds, they appear optimistic about the move. Especially because they have history on their side.
Sony has been in the industry for quite some time. More than Microsoft. That means they have seen more competitors come and go than those at Xbox can even imagine. And that also means they know the signs of whether someone is going to sink or can stay afloat. For example, their experience with Sega.
The Case of Sega: From Major Competitor to Major Third Party
There was a time when Sega was as big as Nintendo. Even bigger. Even though our history is Americanized, it is worth remembering that the dominance of Sega consoles in Europe and South America was absolutely indisputable. And in the 16-bit era, the Super Nintendo remained slightly above Nintendo’s console in those territories, even if it never managed to stand out in the US and Japan. Demonstrating not only that they became renowned competitors, but also one of the biggest names in the video game industry.
Unfortunately, many things happened afterwards. The fall of arcades, the misguided decisions regarding the launch of MegaCD and the release date of Sega Saturn, along with a DreamCast that couldn’t compete against the popularity of PlayStation 2, ultimately sank the company. Becoming a third party, they began producing games for others, shifting from making their own consoles to simply making games for the consoles of others.
But it worked for them. Right now they have franchises like Yakuza, Persona, or Sonic, highly valued and with great transmedia success, which have shown that their conversion in the business plan was a sensible and intelligent measure. Even if it was a hard blow for the industry and for Sega itself to abandon console production and exclusives, it is no less true that it has ended up working for them in the medium and long term. They are in an enviable position like they haven’t known since the 1990s.
Xbox: the potential next Sega
There are no longer red lines about which games will be released on other consoles. It also doesn’t seem like they will stop producing their own consoles at Xbox. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t changing their business plan and expecting to make money in another way: with their games. Turning their consoles into something secondary compared to their games and their other big priority, the Game Pass.
Of course, it is impossible to know how all this will end. It worked for Sega, but Xbox is navigating uncharted waters. Furthermore, it does so under the premise of a directive that changes its plans almost annually and with the shadow of Microsoft not being pleased with the results of the video game section always looming over it, so they do not have it easy. In any case, it does not seem that this is a bad decision. Not at all. It seems like a decision that could place Xbox in a position where not only its survival is ensured, but also its flourishing. And who knows if it might change how we perceive the industry and finally put an end to the console war once and for all.
